Title: Parkerball
Post by: Grassy Noel on January 04, 2025, 01:34:34 PM
For some reason I am not able to watch the Burnley match on the Sky red button even though the logo is there to tap.Could it be that my TV has acquired artificial intelligence? At half time  I see that neither side has had a shot at goal in the prearranged result.

If today's scoreline holds, Bunley will have conceded 9 goals in 26 matches and be on pace to concede 16 goals in a 46 game season. That's really quite amazing. They'll also be on pace to score only 55, which would also be quite something for a top 3 side. Extreme Parkerball.

Only just switched this game on but loving the passion from the fans, a good old fashioned grudge match.

Only time I've ever considered taking a break from watching us was when he was in charge

He seems to have become a bit of a hit today.

And no, the "s" on my keyboard does not stick.

Played terribly. On the back foot throughout. Barely any chances. Grinds out a 1-0 win.

Burnley can enjoy it in the championship, but it'll all end in tears next season...

I'm so pleased we've moved on to better things.

Should they get promoted they need to sack parker immediately.

West ham fan on BBC 5 Live phone in last night, thought Parker should be their new manager!

Seemed a bit of a love-in with Burnley fans  after the game yesterday- don't now how long that will last - if they gets promotion I suppose he'll be considered a success, but as for next season.....

As much as I don't like Parker tactics or watching paint dry, he would have got 3 teams promoted if Burnley go up, not too bad tbf.

Just what he does in the Prem that's the problem

Every man to his own trade.
A clubs limited budget controls how a manager can operate.
Burnley have had to see key players leave without automatically replacing them.
No doubt Parker's remit is from the owners is to get Burnley promoted as quickly as possible.
They know he is capable as they have seen his CV.
They like many clubs need Premier League money, so knowing what he needs to do is to play to his strengths and hope the players jump on board.
Fans naturally want to do it in style with entertainment which is why they pay good money and deserve it.
However Scott Parker has a way of making teams hard to beat, that's his style.
Judge him on achievements, and now that he has left Fulham and because he did leave we got Marco Silva.
So Happy Days.
Scott Parker will probably never change the way he operates, and clubs who employ him know that, but are prepared to accept that if he gets them promoted.
So it's an all win situation with Burnley and Parker at the moment, and whilst they are winning and in the promotion hunt fans will accept it to a certain extent.
Of course if the wheels come off and they start to fall down the table and Parker cannot arrest the slide, then he no doubt will be on a sticky wicket.
As i mentioned once before, "success has many fathers but failure is an orphan".

And that about sums it up.

He seems to be able to sew up life in the Fizzy league, and get promoted, but once he comes up against the managers that earn the big bucks, and play against oppos that earn even bigger bucks, then he is left wanting, especially where tactics are concerned.

I have no malice towards him, I do wish him all the best, and if the 2nd tier is his success story, then he should need to accept that, and just have a nice little earner in that comfort.
