Title: Justin Kluivert
Post by: FFC In Oz on January 18, 2025, 02:32:07 PM
I seem to remember a couple of seasons ago we had a deal in place to sign him but he failed to secure a work permit.

Can anybody with more insight share what changed between then and when Bournemouth signed him?

I was going to post the same after seeing him smash in that goal a few mins ago. I remember the work permit issue. Then Bmth signed him. I dont understand why they had no problem. He's a very good player though.

He's having an excellent season, no doubt.

From memory, I believe Bournemouth might have signed him the subsequent window - but yep, hard to see what changed in that 6 months or so

We massively missed out on this one.

It was because the summer we wanted to sign him he didn't have enough points based on the post brexit coefficient calculation on whether players would get a work permit here (mainly due to playing at Nice in a weaker rated league in Ligue 1 and then over the summer Roma didn't put him in their squad at least once, which would've meant he got the final points needed for a UK work permit), and then ironically the whole process got scrapped about 4 months later I believe, hence they could sign him no issues

Cheers for clarifying mate.

Find it a bit odd that we didn't jump back in for him.

Bournemouth have done some excellent business over the last 24 months or so.

Bournemouth & Boscombe are both very well organised and very useful outfits.

I think we had brought Willian in instead.

However, I was surprised at the time we did not go back in for him.

He's a decent player but important to note 6 of his 10 premier league goals this season have been penalties.

I wouldn't be taking him over Wilson anyway...

Harry Wilson
-777 minutes played
- 5 goals (0 pens)
- 2 assists

Justin Kluivert
- 1351 minutes played
- 10 goals (6 pens)
- 3 assists

He'd be a rotational player here I think. Not really needed since we got Traore and Iwobi in.

not sure what we massively missed out on. Before today he was on less goals than Raul Jiminez, its not like Justin has been on absolute fire

Not mutually exclusive - Kluivert has been playing as the 10 more for Bournemouth this season

The defending for his goal against Forest is shocking basically let him run unopposed from his own half and take a shot . What has happened to closing down and putting your body on the line

I heard a stat on a football podcast that Forest average the furthest distance per shot conceded in the league.

Their average shot conceded is from about 18.5 yards.

Agree with you though for sure Ray, reminiscent of some of the goals we were conceding a couple of months back when nobody closed down the runner in the middle of the park

Hopefully this absolute battering wobbles forest given we've got them in a couple weeks. Would be grateful for a total collapse there 😂
