Really hoping to see Godo and King di well! Amazing that we have literally no one to rotate with Castagne, usually our youth teams produce decent full backs. Is De Fougerolles (sp?) fit? he had a great pre season from memory
Crossing my fingers for a good stream... :cheesy:
Muniz with the blond hair...
Found one in the States... Looks good too...

Quote from: akf on February 08, 2025, 02:58:43 PMMuniz with the blond hair...
Nice. Now if he can get Willian to do the same... ::tongue::
Fulham legend Pat Nevin is the co-commentator on BBC 5 Live............
(I've nothing against Nevin personally btw)
Some of the early passes at the back could use just a little bit more pace imo.
OK, 47 90 degree passes in the back, check...
Muniz looks up for it
Maybe just drop it down with the chest and shoot??
Muniz keeping up his quota of attempted overhead kicks ... check
91% possession!
Looking good so far.
Not looking great so far given 91% possession yet no real threat
Quote from: KentFulham on February 08, 2025, 03:20:55 PMNot looking great so far given 91% possession yet no real threat
The goals will come.
Those last two posts show the duality of man
Yea!
Looking good. That man Muniz!
Sess assist!
Great goal, and confirms that Sess should start further forward than Robinson to give us a better cross
Great attack and finally we get a goal. I don't think we've had this amount of possession in decades.
Great cross, sess's contribution well noted!
YAY... Dang, my stream must be on a slow train. ::tongue::

ESPN+
We had 90 or so % of possession before the goal, why let them have the ball now?!
Gone down as an own goal
Close from Godo... He's done well so far
Own goal not Muniz apparently
We must not ease off, we must keep it ticking over and build on it.
The youngsters are looking good. :Khan_you_fix_it:
Pass that ball and it's another goal.
Sky have now corrected it back to a Muniz goal! Who knows
Quote from: junior white on February 08, 2025, 03:29:24 PMOwn goal not Muniz apparently
Whaaaa, I need to see it again.
Now been given to Muniz again
Quote from: KentFulham on February 08, 2025, 03:33:32 PMSky have now corrected it back to a Muniz goal! Who knows
Yep seems that no one was watching lol
Well according to Sky the goalscorer keeps changing from Muniz to OG and back again.
What actually happened?
I'm in the 'would like to see Wilian before the game is over' camp, but would be more comfortable/excited if jedi were playing, just for the familiarity. If he does come on, and it doesn't come off, just saying now, think about the chemistry between players...
Quote from: Brawn on February 08, 2025, 03:43:17 PMWell according to Sky the goalscorer keeps changing from Muniz to OG and back again.
What actually happened?
After a pretty cross by Sess, some bodies came together and it looked like Muniz headed it in. I am not sure anymore...
It certainly looked to me on the admittedly small screen I'm watching this match on that Muniz headed it almost backwards onto the head/body of the Wigan player from whom it deflected off of into the goal (so an OG). But I could be wrong.
Good half. My only criticism is that we should have scored more with the kind of control we had.
If we score another goal or two in the first 15 minutes of the second half, I'd bring on Vini and Willian, if it's still 0-1 then Adama/ESR/Iwobi/Raul.
Also if we have a 2+ goal lead, I'd bring Berge on for Castagne for the last 15 minutes and play Reed at rightback to rest Castagne and see if he could be a backup option there if Castagne gets injured/suspended before Tete comes back from injury.
I know it's only Wigan but we're playing well. All the players look up for it, especially Muniz. Sessegnon once again showing his quality crossing technique, Robinson should take note.
If we keep doing what we're doing we'll get more goals.
Anyone able to confirm anti Ali Mac songs are being sung today?
Wigan is showing absolutely no offensive effort at all.

I wouldn't bring Vini on as he really isn't part of our long term plans. Raul's not on the bench. I would like to see Willian get a few minutes and ESR
St Eve- Raul is on the bench.
Quote from: MisfitKid on February 08, 2025, 03:58:05 PMSt Eve- Raul is on the bench.
oops sorry you are correct
This is a Yank commenting... I wish that "Football" would eliminate the "Own Goal" and do like they do in Ice Hockey. Last offense player that touches the puck/ball gets the goal. Even if a player shoots it into their own net. That way there is no argument... :guitar-playHDs:

But there is no point in risking an injury to Raul/Adama/Iwobi/ESR though is it? I'd rather put some fresh legs on and if we have a comfortable lead, I don't see what harm could it do to have Vini on.
Oh dear
Oh god
Superb goal tbf.
Marco to team at the half: take your foot off the gas. Bring them into the game. Give them a way back.
???!
Pressure, what pressure
How come we start the second half five minutes after the opposition, no matter who?
Beautiful goal. Paying the price for not making the most of our dominance. That Godo King 2 on 1 at 1-1 was a missed opportunity.
Another early second half goal. Ugh!
Quote from: SerbianLad on February 08, 2025, 04:07:41 PMSuperb goal tbf.
Nice hit but Benda all over the place. Moving the wrong direction and didn't even get a proper dive in
Muniz!
Why or why did Silva think it a good idea to put a 2nd string out?
Get in!
Muniz!!! That wont be an own goal!
GET IN ::scarf::
Bam!! That's more like it!
Another for the Muniz cause. Hopefully some of the sceptics will begin to appreciate him.
What a pass from AP
Phew !!

Quote from: akf on February 08, 2025, 04:15:54 PMCommentary says Muniz is on a hat trick- did they reverse the own goal?
Apparently so. I've got Soccer Saturday on as I normally do for away games and they were extremely confused as to why the first goal had its scorer changed twice!
Quote from: akf on February 08, 2025, 04:15:54 PMCommentary says Muniz is on a hat trick- did they reverse the own goal?
Yes
Ooft they should've had an equaliser there. Lucky to get away with that
Quote from: KentFulham on February 08, 2025, 04:11:32 PMWhy or why did Silva think it a good idea to put a 2nd string out?
I suspect the potential for injuries was on his mind. Moreover, our second team should be able to compete with a League One squad (16th place).

Some incidental contact to the face from Carragher's shoulder a moment or two before the pulled shirt but incidental and not foul worthy. Certainly not worthy of his carrying on
reed caught in possession edge of the box almost costly
Reed and Cairney showing why they're no longer starters. Getting caught dwelling on the ball on the edge of the area a couple of minutes ago

Come on Adama, finish this game for us.
According to the BBC Muniz has now been regiven the first goal just to clear that up.
That would have been a fun goal...
Well played by the guy leaving the pitch - now lets knock on to get a third

think that's a little unfair on tc as the ball came to him while closely marked. didn't have time to dwell whereas reed did
Bender! Well done
Come on Fulham. Why do we make things so difficult for ourselves.
Castagne doesn't look comfortable, hope he's not taken a knock..
that almost own goal from diop the ball seemed to hang in the air for an age. they're getting closer
Shame we won't see the Sess twins together on the pitch.

It's all too much
Living dangerously now.
Getting extremely nervy. Big mixup there with Benda and someone at the back.
who's pass back was that?
What was that rush of blood by Benda?!
He instils absolutely ZERO confidence in me.
Benda got away with it. All Wigan. Embarrassing
Wigan look decent since they made the subs
iwobis last 3 contributions have been woeful
big guns on
Why are we panicking. TC- our leader allegedly - should have been in his element controlling the pace of play.

Job done.
I've never seen Reed pass the ball so badly as today.
Def gettin Burnley in the next round
Phew. Wigan were so dangerous in the 2nd half on the left side. We should have done more 1st half. Good crowd 10K I believe.
Learned a bit today. Sess impressive, Muniz brilliant. Reed and Benda way off it.
Ultimately, we got a win and that's the mkst important thing.
Reed doesn't bring anything to the table; there's no benefit to his presence. He's like a conductor of an orchestra, just waving his hands around throughout the game.
When will we learn to finish games off when we have the chance? 90% possession 1st half and only 1 up. Asking for trouble in an away cup game.
Oh well, we are in the hat.
Yeah well it was a poor second half. But when we were talking about bringing in a reserve full back. I said we needed a keeper. Today proved it.
Please not Burnley in the next round.

Poor decision making by too many of our experienced players (Reed in particular) against a poor Div 1 team.
Hey ho! we won and thats the most important thing.
Quote from: hopper on February 08, 2025, 04:54:48 PMLearned a bit today. Sess impressive, Muniz brilliant. Reed and Benda way off it.
My thoughts exactly.
In Reed's case to be fair he hasn't played in ages and could still get back up to speed.
Muniz, I tend to critique him a lot, but not in this game. Forwards are expected to score, he scores two goals, but what stands out to me is his relentless movement throughout the match, his defensive efforts, and the constant pressure he puts on the opposing defenders. He was undoubtedly the man of the match.

Good to see that acknowledged
Highlights are up on youtube and it's pretty clear to me that fwiw the first goal should be an og. The camera angle from inside the goal shows that Muniz's header was not on goal, he headed it back/sideways before it hits the head of the defender and goes in.
What worries me about our reserve keeper is his poor positioning. The basics don't seem to be there. Twice now he has been beaten by spectacular efforts that look great but each one eye just seems to be in the wrong place in the goal.
Might be over critical but the basics just don't seem to be there.

Agree on the positioning on the goal, but it's a bit too hindsight for me because we know where the ball ended up. To be fair, he saw the ball come in pretty late. Poor effort from Godo to close down the angle. The same lack of effort from Reed on the disallowed goal.

You might be right, but I've been critical of Muniz throughout the season. I'd prefer to acknowledge a player who performed well instead.
