Really hoping to see Godo and King di well! Amazing that we have literally no one to rotate with Castagne, usually our youth teams produce decent full backs. Is De Fougerolles (sp?) fit? he had a great pre season from memory

I'm in the 'would like to see Wilian before the game is over' camp, but would be more comfortable/excited if jedi were playing, just for the familiarity.  If he does come on, and it doesn't come off, just saying now, think about the chemistry between players...

After a pretty cross by Sess, some bodies came together and it looked like Muniz headed it in.  I am not sure anymore...

It certainly looked to me on the admittedly small screen I'm watching this match on that Muniz headed it almost backwards onto the head/body of the Wigan player from whom it deflected off of into the goal (so an OG). But I could be wrong.

Good half. My only criticism is that we should have scored more with the kind of control we had.

If we score another goal or two in the first 15 minutes of the second half, I'd bring on Vini and Willian, if it's still 0-1 then Adama/ESR/Iwobi/Raul.

Also if we have a 2+ goal lead, I'd bring Berge on for Castagne for the last 15 minutes and play Reed at rightback to rest Castagne and see if he could be a backup option there if Castagne gets injured/suspended before Tete comes back from injury.

I know it's only Wigan but we're playing well. All the players look up for it, especially Muniz. Sessegnon once again showing his quality crossing technique, Robinson should take note.

If we keep doing what we're doing we'll get more goals.

I wouldn't bring Vini on as he really isn't part of our long term plans. Raul's not on the bench. I would like to see Willian get a few minutes and ESR

This is a Yank commenting... I wish that "Football" would eliminate the "Own Goal" and do like they do in Ice Hockey.  Last offense player that touches the puck/ball gets the goal.  Even if a player shoots it into their own net.  That way there is no argument...  :guitar-playHDs:

But there is no point in risking an injury to Raul/Adama/Iwobi/ESR though is it? I'd rather put some fresh legs on and if we have a comfortable lead, I don't see what harm could it do to have Vini on.

Some incidental contact to the face from Carragher's shoulder a moment or two before the pulled shirt but incidental and not foul worthy.  Certainly not worthy of his carrying on

Muniz, I tend to critique him a lot, but not in this game. Forwards are expected to score, he scores two goals, but what stands out to me is his relentless movement throughout the match, his defensive efforts, and the constant pressure he puts on the opposing defenders. He was undoubtedly the man of the match.

Highlights are up on youtube and it's pretty clear to me that fwiw the first goal should be an og. The camera angle from inside the goal shows that Muniz's header was not on goal, he headed it back/sideways before it hits the head of the defender and goes in.

What worries me about our reserve keeper is his poor positioning. The basics don't seem to be there. Twice now he has been beaten by spectacular efforts that look great but each one eye just seems to be in the wrong place in the goal.

Might be over critical but the basics just don't seem to be there.

Agree on the positioning on the goal, but it's a bit too hindsight for me because we know where the ball ended up. To be fair, he saw the ball come in pretty late. Poor effort from Godo to close down the angle. The same lack of effort from Reed on the disallowed goal.

I think Benda made some brilliant saves for someone who has barely played at all.
