Title: My FFC memory is generally good but
Post by: SP on March 22, 2025, 03:43:27 PM
I have no recollection of a keeper we had on loan for three games back in 80/81, Ian Hesford. He was on 'The Big Match Revisited' today in our loss at Ewood Park.

Anyone remember him?

Vaguely - wasn't his forename Iain?

The name rings a bell, I'm sure he was a young and up and coming keeper at Blackpool.

Yeah, a real big hefty fella who played at Blackpool for a good few years. His brother was a rugby league player. Wasn't in 80/81 though, pretty sure it was around 85/86? Sadly died a few years ago

Yes, it looks like 84/85. Shame he died so young.

He was highly rated has a youngster  and touted to be a future England international keeper I think he played a lot of England u21 matches but no full caps.
