Pereira makes late cameo in Brazil draw
Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira came on as a late substitute as Brazil drew 0-0 against Ecuador in Carlo Ancelotti's first game as national team coach overnight.

Pereira replaced Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, who came off injured in the 90th minute at the Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa. Brazil had the better chances but couldn't break down their hosts' well-organised defence with Richarlison and Caesmiro going close in the second half.

The lacklustre draw means that Brazil are in fourth place in South American World Cup qualifying on 22 points. They play third-placed Paraguay, who beat Uruguay 2-0 earlier, on Wednesday. Ecuador remain second – with 24 points – and take on Peru, who are ninth, on Tuesday. The top six sides will qualify automatically for a place at next summer's tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Fulham interested in Newcastle deal with £25m man at risk of sale – Report
Newcastle are under no pressure to sell this summer, unlike 12 months ago where a chaotic June ended with both Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh departing.

A year later, our PSR position has improved significantly, but the club must sell wisely if the right opportunities arise, with potential player trading likely to be a recurring theme.

Callum Wilson is likely to leave on a free, along with the outgoing duo of Jamal Lewis and John Rudy, but there is another Mag who has been linked with an exit, as a new report reveals.

Fulham eyeing Toon midfielder?
According to The Mirror, Fulham are interested in bringing Joe Willock back to London this summer.

Geordie journalist Ian Murtagh reports that Eddie Howe is reluctant to let go of the 25-year-old, but claims the club 'could cash in' should a good offer arrive from Craven Cottage.

However, should he depart, it could see Sean Longstaff stay for another season despite interest from Leeds and Everton, with Newcastle not in a position to lose two midfielders ahead of our return to Europe next season.

Willock completed a £25m move from Arsenal to Newcastle back in August 2021, where he's spent almost four years on Tyneside under Steve Bruce and Eddie Howe.

Last season was a tough one for the midfielder, who struggled for a run of starts, failed to score a league goal in 32 outings and looked a player lacking in confidence after missing much of the previous campaign through injury.

News of Fulham's interest comes as Newcastle have taken a look at Cottagers forward Rodrigo Muniz, as we revealed last night. Potential for a part-exchange to suit all parties? It rarely works that simply, but it may just be one to watch.

TGP Europe's exit leaves Fulham with 'income gap'
Philippe Auclair has written an insightful piece on the Guardian's website this morning detailing both the moral and revenue concerns for Fulham – and four other Premier League clubs – following the exit of TGP Europe from the British market last month.

Auclair, whose investigative journalism with Josimar Football has uncovered some of the underhand elements involved in the global game, makes a powerful case for the global game dealing once and for all with the 'toxic relationship with illegal betting operators.' Fulham will be seeking another sponsor next season – and with betting companies by banned from Premier League sponsorship in the near future – it would be heartening to see the club's board look in a new direction. But the way Fulham have put profit over principles recently, I wouldn't be holding my breath.

Man Utd set for financial boost with Fulham resigned to star's exit
Fulham are resigned to Andreas Pereira exiting the club this summer and TEAMtalk can confirm a return to his native Brazil is on the cards.

The Cottagers playmaker, 29, saw a move to Palmeiras fail to get off the ground in January after two bids were rejected. But the South American giants have not given up on landing Pereira, despite seeing a final £20.5million offer knocked back.

Fulham are prepared to sanction his departure but will only sell if they receive a hefty fee.

That is due to the fact that his old club Manchester United have a 20 per cent sell-clause following his £10m switch to Fulham in 2022.

For example, if Fulham sell the midfielder for £25m, then United would pick up 20 per cent of the £15m profit Fulham make. This would give Ruben Amorim's side an extra £3m to potentially spend this summer.

Pereira has impressed in his three years at Craven Cottage and has been a key cog under manager Marco Silva. His overall record for Fulham stands at 10 goals and 22 assists in 119 appearances.

But sources have informed TEAMtalk that the South American, who also interests Marseille and clubs in Saudi Arabia, is now keen to move on and seek a new challenge.

Fulham know Pereira won't sign a new contract, even on improved terms, with his current deal expiring next June.

The west Londoners do have a contract option in their favour but that won't sway their or Pereira's thinking.

TEAMtalk revealed on Wednesday that Mainz midfielder Nadiem Amiri is one player on Fulham's radar but the club are prioritising beefing up their attacking options first and foremost.

Willian is among a number of departures already confirmed but one player expected to stay is Harry Wilson, with the Wales winger close to agreeing fresh terms on a new contract.

Fulham have just exercised the option to extend Wilson's current deal until next summer with both parties close to striking an agreement on securing a long-term stay.

Fulham 'set to sell Pereira this summer'
Fulham are set to sell Andreas Pereira this summer with a return to Brazil looking the most likely destination for the midfielder, according to a report from Teamtalk.

The former Manchester United attacking midfielder angered Marco Silva by publicly eulogising about a move away from Craven Cottage last winter and he is not interested in extending his contract in SW6. The 29 year-old, currently on international duty with Brazil, has his sights set on making the national squad for next summer's World Cup and has been heavily linked with a return to his homeland.

Palmeiras saw two offers for Pereira rejected in January – and may well return with a third bid. Flamego, where Pereira was on loan before he moved to Fulham from Old Trafford, are also interested in signing the playmaker and are believed to have held preliminary discussions about a permanent transfer with Fulham. The Whites are holding out for a substantial sum for a player who has been key to their Premier League progress since returning to the top flight under Silva. Pereira has scored ten goals and made 22 assists in 119 appearances but ended the season out of Fulham's starting line-up.

Man Utd, Fulham converge on Bayern Munich star who's up for sale
Bayern Munich are open to selling midfielder Joao Palhinha, with sources informing TEAMtalk they will consider offers worth around £25million (€30m / $34m) amid interest from Manchester United and Fulham.

The 29-year-old joined Bayern from Fulham for £46m in July 2024 but has struggled to cement a regular starting spot under Vincent Kompany, prompting speculation about his future. Limited by injuries and fierce competition in Bayern's midfield, Palhinha's lacklustre stint in Bavaria has led to the club's willingness to listen to proposals.

The German giants are prepared to part ways with the 29-year-old and Fulham are keen on a reunion. The Cottagers, where Palhinha excelled during his two Premier League seasons, maintain a strong relationship with the player.

Known for leading the league in tackles during his time at Craven Cottage, Palhinha's tenacity and work rate made him a fan favourite.

TEAMtalk understands Fulham's interest is genuine, but their ability to meet Bayern's £25m valuation could hinge on financial flexibility in the transfer window. Fulham are aware of Palhinha's injury issues too and this is also making them pause on an official move.

A return to London would likely appeal to Palhinha, who previously expressed gratitude for his time at Fulham.

Sources have confirmed to TEAMtalk that Man Utd are also interested in landing Palhinha. The Red Devils, seeking to bolster their midfield under new management, view Palhinha as a cost-effective option to add steel and experience.

United's interest dates back to 2023, when they were linked alongside Bayern and Barcelona, though financial constraints and managerial uncertainty previously stalled a move.

With Bayern's reduced asking price, United could see an opportunity to secure a proven Premier League performer at a bargain price. However, their focus is on other targets at this stage, most notably Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo.

Palhinha has publicly stated his desire to honour his Bayern contract before eventually returning to Portugal, which may complicate negotiations over a return to England.

Man Utd, Fulham tracking Joao Palhinha
Nevertheless, Fulham and United will both be closely monitoring developments this summer, with Bayern's openness to a £25m deal potentially sparking a competitive race for the star's signature.

United were linked with a move for the Portuguese in April and TEAMtalk can now confirm that director of football Jason Wilcox is interested.

On May 7, a former Bayern and Liverpool player explained why Palhinha could be a transformative signing for Ruben Amorim's side.

For Fulham, selling Andreas Pereira could give them extra funds to get close to Palhinha's price tag.

TEAMtalk revealed on Friday morning that the Brazilian is wanted by Palmeiras, Marseille and clubs in Saudi Arabia, with Fulham resigned to his departure.

United will be keeping a close eye on the situation as they have a sell-on clause for Pereira after selling him to Fulham in July 2022.

Fulham plotting Palhinha return
Fulham are exploring the possibility of bringing João Palhina back to Craven Cottage after the Portuguese midfielder's annus horribilis at Bayern Munich.

The German giants are willing to consider cutting their losses on the former Sporting defensive midfielder, who they bought for £46m last July. Palhinha made just 24 appearances – having suffered with a succession of injuries and suspensions – as Bayern won the Bundesliga this season and the Bavarian club are willing to listen to offers for the 29 year-old worth around £25m.

The Whites would be able to meet Bayern's asking price but look to negotiate a more attractive deal for themselves and Palhinha is believed to be intrigued by a potential return to SW6, where he shone in two superb seasons in the Premier League. Marco Silva retains a good relationship with the Portuguese international, who is keen to secure first-team football as he hopes to remain in Roberto Martinez's plans for next summer's World Cup.

Fulham are reportedly ahead of Manchester United, who have tried and failed to sign the midfielder before, in the race to sign him with the Red Devils believed to consider reshaping their forward line more of a priority this summer. Palhinha has indicated he would like to see out his Bayern contract before returning to play in Portugal, but he will not want to be missing out on regular football if it puts his participation in the World Cup at risk.

Fulham to host Eintracht Frankfurt in August friendly
Fulham have confirmed this afternoon that they will face Eintracht Frankfurt in a pre-season friendly at Craven Cottage on Saturday 9 August, kicking off at 5pm.

Eintracht, who won the 2022 Europa League, finished third in the Bundesliga and qualified for the Champions' League on the basis of their league position for the first time in the club's history. The two teams previously played a pre-season friendly in Austria ten years ago, with the Germans emerging 1-0 winners.

Marco Silva's first team squad will also travel to the Algarve for a summer training camp that will take place between Friday 25 July and Saturday 2 August. The pre-season tour will contain a number of matches, with Fulham's official website stating that at least two should be played in front of fans in Faro, but that further details will be confirmed in due course.

Frank, Iraola or Silva? Contenders to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham
Ange Postecoglou has been sacked by Tottenham.

Postecoglou delivered Spurs' first trophy in 17 years with Europa League success over Manchester United in Bilbao, but it failed to stop chairman Daniel Levy dismissing the Australian.

Here, the PA news agency takes a look at candidates to replace Postecoglou, who presided over a 17th-placed Premier League finish last season.

Thomas Frank
Thomas Frank has a fine body of work behind him after he guided Brentford to promotion in 2021, while he has developed the likes of Ollie Watkins, Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbeumo during seven years in west London. Happy to mix pragmatism and a direct style of play with attacking intent, the 51-year-old was rumoured to be on Manchester United's shortlist last summer and continues to be linked with top-six vacancies. Tottenham's current technical director Johan Lange reportedly wanted to bring Frank to Aston Villa in 2022.

Andoni Iraola
Bournemouth's decision to replace Gary O'Neil with Andoni Iraola in the summer of 2023 sparked criticism, but the Spaniard has been a resounding success. Last season saw the Cherries equal their best wins total in the Premier League and achieve a record points tally in the top flight. Iraola has kicked on again this term with more free-flowing football to earn an FA Cup quarter-final spot and push the club into European contention, but would he leave the south coast for north London like another coach did 11 years ago?

Marco Silva
Another Premier League manager with a strong CV and knowhow for what it takes to thrive in English football, Marco Silva had Fulham in the battle for Europe after they also reached the last eight of the FA Cup for a second year in a row. A disappointing spell at Everton hangs over the Portuguese, who continues to be mooted for significant managerial roles around the globe.

Oliver Glasner
Oliver Glasner was one of several coaches linked to Spurs in the summer of 2023, but no move materialised and he ended up at Crystal Palace where he has continued his cup pedigree with a historic FA Cup triumph – the club's first major trophy. Glasner, who won the Europa League with Frankfurt three years ago, prefers to use a wing-back system but has delighted the Selhurst Park faithful and helped bring out the best of Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze.

Mauricio Pochettino
The most successful period of Daniel Levy's lengthy spell as Spurs chairman occurred when Mauricio Pochettino was head coach. Pochettino turned Tottenham into top-four regulars and masterminded a remarkable Champions League runner-up spot in 2019 before his dismissal later in the same year. Currently in charge of the United States, Pochettino in March again spoke of his desire to "one day" manage his old club, but would he quit his national-team role before a home World Cup?

Fulham now enter race to sign "strong" Premier League-winning midfielder
As they look to commence their summer business, Fulham have now reportedly become the latest side to enter a hectic race to sign a Premier League-winning midfielder for Marco Silva.

Fulham confirm released and retained list
With another impressive Premier League season under Silva now over, the Cottagers have already commenced planning for the next campaign - confirming the list of players that will be leaving when their contracts expire this summer. The list includes Willian, who arrived for a short period in January, and striker Carlos Vinicius, whilst the likes of Tom Cairney have been offered new deals.

Whether Cairney joins Fulham's list of departures amid interest from Wrexham is the big question. The experienced midfielder told reporters last month: "Nothing is sorted yet. Next week is my final game for Fulham. Hopefully it's not. In football, sometimes things go to the last minute, and hopefully it's not my final time at Craven Cottage next weekend."

With a deal now on the table, all that is left for Cairney to do is put pen to paper and commit his future to the West London club once again. The midfielder was fairly clear that he wants to stay put at the club and that in itself suggests that negotiations should be routine at this stage.

Whether it's this summer or in the coming years, however, Fulham will need to find a replacement for their 34-year-old midfielder sooner or later. Replacing that experience won't be easy, either, but those in West London may well hope that the lure of Silva's project is far more tempting than it once was.

An established Premier League side these days, who have been threatening to creep into the European places in recent years, Fulham could even welcome a Premier League-winning midfielder this summer.

Fulham enter Kalvin Phillips race
According to Caught Offside, Fulham have now entered the race to sign Kalvin Phillips this summer. They have reportedly joined Leeds United, Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town in the battle to secure the Manchester City midfielder.

It's been a rough few years for the England international. Ever since completing what would have been a dream move to Manchester City, Phillips has struggled for game time and form. Even out on loan at both West Ham United and Ipswich, the 29-year-old has still struggled to ever truly rediscover his best form. Now, he simply has to get his next move right.

Craven Cottage may be the perfect environment for revival too. The likes of Andreas Pereira and Raul Jimenez have burst into life courtesy of Silva's Fulham side. The same can be said for Alex Iwobi. Now, Phillips could be next in line to complete a similar transformation.

Dubbed "strong" by Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna whilst on loan last season, Phillips showed glimpses of the quality that he could yet take to West London this summer. A Premier League winner no matter the criticism he has received, the midfielder has another crucial decision to make this summer.

Frank frontrunner to replace Postecoglou at Spurs
Brentford boss Thomas Frank is the frontrunner to succeed Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur after the Australian was sacked by the Spurs board this afternoon.

Frank, who worked with Spurs' sporting director Johan Lange at Lyngby, is at the top of Tottenham's shortlist and Brentford are braced for an approach from the north London club in the coming days. They will have to pay around £10m to secure the services of the highly-regarded Danish coach under the terms of the contract extension he signed with Brentford three years ago.

Fulham head coach Marco Silva and AFC Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola have previously been sounded out by Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, but both managers indicated a willingness to remain with their current employers. Silva, who has a year left on his current contract, has told the media and his players that he will be in the Craven Cottage dugout next season.

The golden Newcastle and Fulham swap transfer that could solve two major problems in a heartbeat
Newcastle are preparing for a Champions League campaign while Fulham look to improve in the Premier League this summer transfer window

It's been a mixed start to a pivotal transfer window for Newcastle United - particularly in the striker department where Eddie Howe has received two significant yet contrasting updates this week.

Howe was beaten to the signature of Liam Delap as the Ipswich Town striker inked a six-year deal with Chelsea, who activated the 22-year-old's £30 million release clause to strike what could be one of the bargains of the summer.

He was Newcastle's top target to bring to St. James' Park but this is a summer that Howe expects to spend protecting his current stars as much as chasing new ones and dominoes falling elsewhere (including Delap) means the Magpies have received a major boost in their quest to keep their biggest star.

Alexander Isak looks increasingly likely to stay on Tyneside with Arsenal homing in on Benjamin Sesko and Chelsea and Manchester United seemingly out of the picture - the Swede looked set to be one of the most highly coveted players this window but has three years remaining on his contract and significantly less realistic interest from the continent, with no other Premier League suitors.

Newcastle's pursuits of Marc Guehi and Bryan Mbeumo also look set to fail as attention turns to bringing in a secondary striker to provide competition for Isak regardless of whether Callum Wilson stays. Wilson enjoyed a bright start to his life on Tyneside, striking 39 times at around a goal every other Premier League game in his first three seasons but now aged 33, the Coventry-born frontman only played 357 top-flight minutes in 2024/25.

He was left off Newcastle's retained list though the Magpies explicitly stated discussions are ongoing with Wilson about signing a new contract after he failed to meet an appearance threshold last season to trigger an automatic extension.

So a new striker target has emerged for Newcastle in the form of Fulham's Rodrigo Muniz, according to NUFC blog, and the Magpies could have a secret weapon to get him on the cheap in the form of Joe Willock.

Rodrigo Muniz can replicate Jhon Duran's Champions League impact for Newcastle
Muniz was in red-hot form in his debut Premier League campaign, netting nine times, and he only scored one fewer from 40% less minutes last season leading Fulham to slap a £50m price tag on the Brazilian.

Muniz thrives running onto long balls and beating the goalkeeper from counter-attacks (remind you of any other strikers in black and white?) and is a supreme poacher in the penalty area - his average shot distance of 12 yards is low compared to other Premier League strikers though he doesn't get as involved in build-up play as Isak.

Realistically Muniz would be unlikely to displace the Swede in Howe's game-to-game starting XI but he'd provide Newcastle with a strong rotation option, and a superb set of fresh legs to bring off the bench with 20-30 minutes to go and come up with a goal. Though shorter than Isak at 6'1, Muniz is a certified (and identified) aerial phenomenon too winning more battles in the air per game than 97% of Premier League strikers, as the club prepare to battle on two fronts once again this season after returning to the Champions League.

Jhon Duran showed with Aston Villa just how deadly a 'rotation option' can be even on Europe's biggest stage and Muniz could have a similar impact at Newcastle, though his hefty price tag could be an issue for a club who can't go on a spending spree this summer. But that's where Willock comes in

Expendable Joe Willock fills hole for Marco Silva
Newcastle signed Willock for £25m in 2021 - their second post expensive signing ever pre-Saudi takeover, behind Joelinton - but the now-25-year-old has struggled for gametime on Tyneside as the years have worn on and his only 90-minute appearances this season came against League 1 and 2 opposition in the form of Birmingham City and AFC Wimbledon.

The Magpies aren't desperate to sell Willock this summer but reportedly value him at around £15m and will listen to offers. Fulham have expressed interest as Willock would join fellow former Gunners Emile Smith Rowe, Alex Iwobi and Bernd Leno at Craven Cottage and bolster Marco Silva's midfield options.

Cottagers stalwart Tom Cairney is out of contract this summer after 354 appearances in black and white and has been heavily linked with a move to the Championship with promoted sides Wrexham and Birmingham interested in signing the Scot - who has also been offered a new contract by Fulham. Sander Berge and Sasa Lukic can flatter to deceive on occasion too so central midfield is one of the top areas to improve for Silva this summer and Willock would certainly help in that regard.

Meanwhile a swap deal would help Newcastle United who could be walking something of a tightrope this summer with a projected maximum allowable loss for PSR of £83m, so recouping some money for Willock while landing a discount on Muniz would tick two boxes and unlock plenty of other fascinating options this transfer window or beyond.

Malcolm Elias: 1953-2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our colleague and dear friend, Malcolm Elias, after a short illness.

The Club's Head of Academy Recruitment, Malcolm had a fantastic reputation in football for unearthing and nurturing young talent.

A proud Welshman, Malcolm was approaching his 16th anniversary at Craven Cottage this summer, having joined us from Liverpool in July 2009, while he also previously enjoyed a highly successful spell at Southampton alongside future Fulham colleagues Huw Jennings and Steve Wigley.

The influence that Malcolm had on the modern game cannot be understated, having worked with and developed the likes of Theo Walcott, Gareth Bale, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Harvey Elliott, Luke Harris and Jay Stansfield, to name but a few.

A hugely popular figure around the training ground, Malcolm will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Paula - Malcolm's ever devoted and endlessly supportive wife of nearly 50 years - his sons Andrew and Daniel, his six beloved grandchildren, as well as his additional family and friends.
