Excellent start from us though. Our players look motivated and like they want to win.

shot on target from an offsides raul - that works

Excellent work from Lukic, but a poor shot in the end

good pressure, another shot on target from lucic - could have put it wider...

Very aggressive press but I'm worried they're getting through us a bit easily in terms of our midfield 5

Shame Bassey's cross wasn't better, Raul created space for himself really well and Bassey had a oot of time to get his cross perfect

Any points will be a bonus today as we've lost the last six matches against Villa.

We seem to be getting some chances which is promising.

Title: Re: Villa (H) Saturday 25/04
Post by: akf on April 25, 2026, 01:21:43 PM
Not a bad half, to be fair.  There was some criticism of Andersen, but I dont see it really. He has a handful in Watkins.  There was a spell where Villa looked a bit sharper, but all in all, i think we've had a good showing.
Bassey has been strong, albeit with a couple hiccups.
Lucic has been sharp, but not cutting edge sharp.
Berge has had a good game so far
Raul might be MoM for getting out of the way for Sess to shoot.

If we win the second half we win the game.
We must not adopt the mentality of
Holding on to what we have.
They will step up a gear, we must step up 2 gears.
Title: Re: Villa (H) Saturday 25/04
Post by: Simunch on April 25, 2026, 01:37:34 PM
A goal just before half time would often cause a depressed opposition dressing room but given its Villa I very much doubt that will be the case. They have come back from losing positions to gain 19 points this season.

A Fulham win today please!

I'm shocked that in a 2v1 Wilson hasn't played the simplest pass to Raul for a tap in. Given his links with Villa this week that looks awful

I know it's instruction as much as anything else, but it feels like we play differently when Iwobi isn't in the midfield. I like Iwobi as a player but the chemistry seems wildly different.

Been poor for a while now. That's why I couldn't understand the howls of derision when it was suggested we try Chuck on the right and bench Harry.

Fabulous and huge result against a team flying this season.  We played okay in spells. Defence play by us was down to hard work.

I was predicting doom before the match.

Villa's next game is against Spurs so they are welcome to get some points from that. :slap:
