Commentators said we still harbour ambitions of CL football...

Personally, I've been of the opinion that we're too inconsistent for Europe, let alone CL.

Anyway, slow start.  They look up for it, we need to match their intensity

I saw Berge putting in a goal saving block 5 minutes earlier.. swings and roundabouts. He's a defensive midfielder not a striker.
Robinson is meant to be an overlapping wing back.

Anyway, I'm not having a crack at any of the players tbh the Liverpool team are just better. Just another reality check for us really that Europe is a long way off. Anyway, we aren't getting relegated.

I'm sorry, but Iwobi in the midfield is absolutely useless defensively against 90% of the teams. They are running through are midfield with ease throughout this half. Sub him or move him to the left and sub Bobb, but this isn't working.

swings and roundabouts indeed.

Whilst Bob. Has been average at best I find the comparisons to the 73 interesting, he has t had the injury Bobb has and it's his first season time will tell in the second.

For me other than the odd moment both wide players have been average at best, Muniz is woeful right now was surprised he started, Iwobi is off the boil too.

The perfect way to be losing 0-2 at half time!
Sit back but only offer half hearted attempts to block shots and crosses.

Get Bobb/Iwobi off for Lukic, or even Cairney at HT. Maybe even Chukwueze for the other one too. King had some good moments, but was a passenger for large parts of that half too. Sub him for ESR around 60th minute unless something changes.

Silva go please go enough is enough Liverpool are 💩 and we are  even 💩er our performances are getting worse and worse we are playing off the cuff their is no system to the way we are playing . For me other than the odd moment both wide players have been average at best, Muniz is woeful right now was surprised he started, Iwobi is off the boil too.

Agreed. Second season will show if he's worth keeping in the team.

I have seen us play a whole lot worse. Liverpool have turned up and more. Being on the defensive usually suits and we have shown some good technical moments.Alas for two brilliant goals.
My usual gripe is as always - Robinson defensively is like a bumper on a pinball machine and he cannot even head a ball properly. His crosses could be bettered by an Eastbourne crab. He is as fast as a crab though.

I love Fulham but have to agree. I watched Bournemouth earlier and they played the best team in the league away and beat them deservedly too. Well coached, committed in defence, pacy on the counter. They are a smaller club than us who lost lots of good players and have replaced them well. Comparatively, we didnt show up in that first half. We look like we are on the beach.

Highest work rate on the side and the attack is predicated on him consistently running forward.

Your complaints are valid...but how good a defender should you really expect him to be if he's really our only LW attacking option?   That's on Silva.

I'm curious what position people think Bobb is going to play next season?   He's going to be a starting winger?   Anyone think he's offering what Wison provides on the right?   He's offering nothing on the left.

Now they're playing Iwobi on the LW.

Robinson essentially, again, no help offensively on the left side because HE's the attacking threat on the left side.

That's a Marco flaw.  If you'r going to use Robinson as a winger..play Sess behind him.   It helps him defensively and then maybe his crosses will be consistent.

So sad to see Jedi unable to recover anything resembling his best form and I'm no longer sure he ever will. Wondering whether we should look to sell him in the summer?

As to Muniz, definitely unload.

I have never seen positives even in the Championship. Give me a footballer over an athlete every time. A pity because he is such a nice bloke.

So you'd take Bobb over Jedi?   That seems ridiculous to me.   Next you'll say they both play different positions...to which I would say...Robinsons a better winger than Bobb because he's a better athlete.  Bobb is clearly the better footballer no?

Bobb is a form of footballer playing at a lower pay grade (hopefully)

Impressed with Lukic since coming on. Must win his place back off Berge based on today.

Otherwise, Bassey done well. Struggling to find positives elsewhere.

They should both start. They have some shortcomings, but they are still by far our best midfield pairing.

Least we didn't get battered in the second half.

If we had played like that last season there it would have been a cricket score.

Makes us quite flat creatively in midfield. I think that's why Silva abandoned that plan around Xmas.

I just don't think we have a suitable creative CM other than TC and he is limited to sub appearances. It certainly isn't Iwobi. I've regarded this as a screaming priority for a couple of seasons now.

During which half did our midfield look more flat today, the first half with Iwobi and Berge or the second with Berge and Lukic?

Agree completely.

However I recall distinctly we had a run with Berge and Lukic together and we were crying out for more creativity and less of a defensive set up.

I think there's clearly still a strong argument for the Lukic Berge partnership against the better teams.

I agree about Lukic & Berge against better teams but even against weak teams I don't see Iwobi as part of the solution (in midfield). Honestly not sure what the answer is.

"At least we looked good in the 2nd half"

Any team can look good in the 2nd half at 2-0 down the home team don't need to chase the game they have a 2 goal buffer

I remember those times. I still think too much fault was placed at the two of them. Ideally, we'll get a more creative midfielder in the summer(we should have got one already in the previous 2 windows), but I believe a lot of it wasn't down to the two of them not being creative enough, but rather down to our more attacking players being out of form.

Sadly I think our full backs were the weak link defensively today.

Tete is injured so can't do much about that. Robinson? Well.. I guess if he was more effective he wouldn't play for us.

I would be comfortable with Lukic and Berge if there was a mature incisive precison passer and creator at no 10. A younger version of Ericson. What's Maddison up to now? Where's JH when you really need him?

We had 19 shots apparently (one more than them) and yet again their keeper was hardly troubled.

9 corners (one more than them) and never looked like scoring.
