Good that Wilson is fit to start after the injury in the last match.

West Ham have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last 14 matches.

It's more the fact that it seems to be the only pressing trap WH are trying to employ in pressing the CB's + Berge so we just need to bypass it and then they drop back deep again

Forest gave Man City a good game today. We absolutely should not be "destroying" them. We could, but it's definitely not as easy as you make it seem.

They had one decent chance though Bowen that wasn't offside. Leno made a good save, but yes, I do think we've created more.

Post by: SerbianLad on December 27, 2025, 03:49:43 PM
Okay first half. We started well and had good moments here and there. We need to play quicker in the final thrid, we are usually doing everything right up until then, but we slow the game too much llin the final third. The other criticism is set-piece defending. They've looked quite dangerous there.

Raul, who should have done better for that chance early on, and good efforts from Wilson and Andersen have been our 3 standout attacking moments so far.

Poor from Kevin today, always looks like he could do something ina flash but also overthinking way too much at times.

ESR been decent but not alot to work with around him up there.

Defence largely playing well with the offside trap. Raul offering nothing again. We really gotta try something different at this point up top.

Id bring JKA on at 60 but will never happen

Also TC for lukic

West Ham 3 - 7 Fulham
Shots on target:
West Ham 1 - 3 Fulham

We need someone with a bit of movement up top because I don't rate Kilman or Todibo at all, either get Wilson as a false 9 or give JKA a chance. Raul still needs a rest and I think it was summed up by him being offside when Leno went long which is basics to not be onside for something like that. Reckkon we see TC at some point as well to give us control in the middle
Title: Re: West Ham (A) Saturday 27/12
Post by: LittleErn on December 27, 2025, 04:02:18 PM
GJ wants to see TC brought on. Why? Not because he has the ability to win the game (which he has) but "because we're running out of time to see him". I think you'll get your wish GJ but not just yet. We need to wait until WH are a bit more tired and then he might be able to outrun his marker.

Seems to have been the case against a number of teams of late. Forest was nerve racking and it would seem this will be the same.
Forest gave Man City a good game today. We absolutely should not be "destroying" them. We could, but it's definitely not as easy as you make it seem.

I'll beg to differ on that. Monday was two very average teams putting in very average performances which we edged. How many times have we bemoaned the fact that we didn't take our chances and we have lost late on or been held to a draw, that is where I think 'should' comes in. I think the general point is if we hit the target more when in the ascendancy, as we were for periods against Forest and have been today, we would be destroying teams at least one nil.

Issue is more that he has mostly non Existent games almost every week of late

But a couple times he's popped up with a timely goal so credit to him for that at least

Worst thing is in doing so he justifies us playing him for 90mins again in the next game when we might actually perform better with someone else if we ever tried it. Hopefully these goals continue to help his confidence though

Regardless, he bagged the chance, however easy, and that's what matters today. A great way to end the year

Huge amount of credit (from me at least) goes to Harry Wilson. He unselfishly created two chances where he delivered the ball to the forward line at close range.

I wasn't too happy with the way he remonstrated with the linesman though.

Sure, but one of those was a penalty, sooo let's contextualise that you'd expect our next penalty taker to also be capable of scoring one. Not like he won the penalty

We can talk about it in simple black and white terms sure, but not sure it's useful to do so as that doesnt mean we might not have won more easily with another system (as of course I accept we may of course lost too)

Credit to Raul though. Despite being poor again all game, he's ultimately Scored a key goal again when it matters.

Come on...one was a PK and the other would've been made by any striker on the field.

The point is it was him that scored them..
Do you live in a hypothetical world.
As you won't know if someone else would have scored ..Just admit that you hate the guy,you and another couple on the Matchday thread every game...Boring.

Unnecessary tone really

You can make up how I or others feel about Raul if you like but I think most people always caveat it with it not totally being Rauls fault he's knackered.

Personally I've repeatedly said I love him, think he's been great value for us, and don't think him being pretty much exhausted is his fault. It's possible to take a nuanced position on such things.

Ias I said in my post it's plausible we could also have lost had we tried another player too, but but if ya gonna assess a teams or players general play, I personally think it's perfectly reasonable to be honest about how we/they play generally over 90 minutes and explore if there might be other options that could improve us even more AND still say, credit to him, he's scored and that's important.

But sure. Go off on people about it just cos people are saying two things are possible at once
