de Fougerolles misses penalty as Canada crash out
Fulham defender Luc de Fougerolles missed a sudden-death spot-kick as ten-man Canada were knocked out of the Gold Cup on penalties by Guatemala at the quarter final stage tonight.
The Guatemalans progressed to the last four when, after a 1-1 draw, de Fougerolles rattled the crossbar with his effort from twelve yards before Jose Morales stroked home his penalty to send the underdogs to their first semi-final for 29 years. Canada had taken the lead on the half hour mark through Jonathan David's penalty, but the complexion of an edgy quarter-final completely changed when winger Jacob Schaffelburg was sent off in first half stoppage time.
Guatemala were galvanised by their numerical advantage and equalised through a bullet header from Rubio Rubin. Jesse Marsch's side struggled after that equaliser and the eventual penalty shoot-out was full of drama. Cyril Larin saw his effort saved for Canada before Jose Pinto missed. de Fougerolles, who had missed a paneka earlier this summer, went for power this time but his spot-kick cannoned off the crossbar, allowing Pinto to make history.

Internationals: Mexico progress, defeat for Canada(https://images.webapi.fulhamfc.com/fit-in/1600x1600/29e76440-558f-11f0-9557-39e38b98c610.jpg)
There were mixed fortunes for our Fulham boys in the Gold Cup over the weekend.
Mexico progressed to the Semi-Finals, setting up a clash with Honduras, after beating Saudi Arabia 2-0. Raúl Jiménez provided an intelligent assist that unlocked the Saudi Arabia defence early in the second-half.
Receiving a bouncing ball with his back to goal, Raúl killed the ball with his chest and then flicked a pass with the outside of his right boot into the path of Alexis Vega, who finished past Luis Malagón at the second time of asking.
Raúl had been substituted by the time the lead was doubled, with Abdullah Madu unable to deal with a whipped cross from the left, putting the ball into his own net.
Canada's tournament came to an end in heartbreaking fashion as Jesse Marsch's side were beaten on penalties by Guatemala.
Defeated 6-5 on penalties following a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes, Luc De Fougerolles played the whole game but saw his spot kick cannon off the crossbar during the shootout.
Jonathan David coolly gave Canada the lead when he rolled a penalty into the bottom corner after 30 minutes, but Jacob Shaffelburg's red card on the stroke of half-time was a significant turning point.
The Guatemala pressure arrived in the second period, with Rubio Rubin's bullet header forcing a penalty shootout.
With the scores 5-5 on penalties, De Fougerolles stepped up and rattled the upright, allowing José Morales to score the winning penalty.
Mexico will face Honduras on Thursday, with the USMNT taking on Guatemala in the other Semi-Final.

Rodallega's resilience seals Santa Fe's tenth title
Hugo Rodallega dramatically delivered a tenth Colombian title for Independiente Santa Fe overnight overcoming age, injury, self-doubt and the scoreboard to beat Medellin in the second leg of the final at the Atanasio Girardot Stadium.
The former Fulham forward, now 40, was in tears when it looked like his race was run after he suffered a muscle spasm that looked set to see him substituted with fifteen minutes to go. The striker showed the grit that has characterised his career in opting to continue and scored a wonderful winner less than three minutes later, firing in Edwar López's fine cross with his right foot
The skipper's sixteenth goal of the season was enough to win the title – and there was further emotion after the final whistle when he was asked about hanging up his boots. Rodallega, with tears in his eyes again, smiled at the idea of calling it a day in the aftermath of such an epic achievement. He sad:
"I said I would step aside so the young players could have more opportunities, but my son tells me to keep fighting. I said if I became champion I would retire, but everyone will tell me not to!"
The immediate future is full of promise for Santa Fe, who will enter the group stage of the Copa Copa Libertadores, where Rodallega and his team-mates will look to write more history.

Pajaziti poised for Hajduk Split switch
Fulham midfielder Adrion Pajaziti is set to join Hajduk Split as soon as this weekend once the precise details of his transfer to the Croatian giants are worked out.
The Albanian international is set to terminate his Craven Cottage contract this week to ensure he can join Hajduk's pre-season training camp in Slovenia. The 23 year-old, who was handed a senior debut by Marco Silva in the League Cup victory at Birmingham in 2021, enjoyed an excellent loan stint at HNK Gorica last season, where he scored three goals in 23 appearances. He made his international debut against England at Wembley – and is poised to sign a three-year contract with the Whites.
The major point of negotiation between the parties is about whether Fulham will retain a 50% sell-on value for Pajaziti – an issue which is yet to be definitively resolved. Pajaziti, who has played more than a hundred academy games at Motspur Park since signing his academy scholarship in 2019, will sign a three-year contract with Hajduk, according to Germanijik.

Exclusive: Newcastle and Fulham race to sign Calvert-Lewin as offers readied
Dominic Calvert-Lewin will have options to stay in the Premier League next season after his Everton exit, sources have told Football Insider.
Newcastle and Fulham are among the teams ready to step up talks and advance their interest over the next few weeks – with both clubs in the market for a new striker this summer.
Calvert-Lewin has confirmed he would be leaving Everton at the expiration of his contract, after nine years at Goodison Park.
It is believed the 28-year-old will have offers from clubs abroad, as well as those in the Premier League.
Calvert-Lewin expected to be in demand
Calvert-Lewin has shown throughout his Toffees career that when he is on form, he is a handful for some of the best defenders in the world.
The England international scored 71 times during his 273 appearances in all competitions for the Merseyside club, including the goal which saved them from Premier League relegation in 2022.
There will be no shortage of suitors for the forward, who has scored as many as 16 top-flight goals in a single campaign before.
However, Calvert-Lewin has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, and any buying club will be wary of his patchy fitness record.
Last season, the centre-forward started just 19 Premier League games for Everton, and only managed three goals.
Sunderland set sights on Doucoure deal
Meanwhile, Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Sunderland are considering a free transfer move for Abdoulaye Doucoure after his Everton exit.
The 32-year-old's Toffees deal is up on Monday (30 June) and the Merseysiders have already confirmed he will be moving on.
Doucoure is on the list at Sunderland following their promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs last term.
The Black Cats are keen to add Premier League experience as they draw closer to agreeing high-profile deals for Habib Diarra and Reinildo.

Fulham launch audacious Arokodare approach
Fulham are audaciously aiming to beat Manchester United to the signing of Gent striker Tolu Arokodare, according to the Sun.
The 6ft 4in Nigerian international scored 23 goals for Gent in all competitions last season and is high on Fulham's list of potential signings as they seek to strengthen their striking options ahead of the new season. The Whites have held positive talks with the 24 year-old's new representatives and believe they can make an attractive offer to the former Valmiera forward, who is keen to ply his trade in the Premier League.
United are still trying to tempt Viktor Gykores to Old Trafford and the Whites are sought to steal a march on their fellow suitors, with Arokodare's fellow Nigerian internationals Callum Bassey and Alex Iwobi already at Craven Cottage. Arokodare, who has scored 40 goals in 105 games for Gent, is valued at around £15m.

Fulham back in for van Ewijk?
Fulham have resurrected their interest in Coventry City wing-back Milan van Ewijk, according to Sky Sports News.
The 24 year-old Dutch defender has been a long-term Fulham target and is now into the final two years of his current contract at the Ricoh Arena. The attack minded right back has made a century of appearances for the Sky Blues, scoring four goals, since making a £3.4m move from Heerenveen in 2023.
He starred as Mark Robins' side did the double over Fulham in their Championship-winning campaign of 2021/22 and Frank Lampard remains desperate to keep the former ADO Den Haag defender beyond the summer. Speculation that van Ewijk was about to join the Whites earlier this month proved wide of the mark
Sky Sports suggest that Fulham are exploring the conditions of a potential transfer as they line up alternatives for Kenny Tete, whose Craven Cottage contract expires today. The report also claims that the Whites are also interested in signing Ipswich Town full-back Ben Johnson.

Osmand signs for Celtic
Fulham forward Callum Osmand has signed for Scottish giants Glasgow Celtic this afternoon.
The Welsh under-19 international, who scored eighteen goals in 31 games for the Whites' under-21s last term, turned down a new contract at Craven Cottage to become part of Brendan Rodgers' first-team squad at Celtic Park.
Osmand, who spent five years at Motspur Park and moves north of the border for a development fee, told Celtic TV:
"It feels unbelievable to be here and I am so happy to be here. It is a big step for me, and I am excited to get going. It's a massive move and I can't wait to step out at Celtic Park in front of all the fans.
When I spoke to the manager, he was really positive. The plan and pathway he has set out for the club is top, so it's exciting with the pathway he has for me. He has set out what he wants from me, and it is all really positive, so I can't wait to get going now.
I've also spoken to Matt O'Riley on the phone, so he has given me advice. He was telling me about how big the club is, how amazing the fans are and it's a new life really. So excited is definitely the word for me."

Celtic sign 'highly rated' striker Osmand from Fulham
Striker Callum Osmand has joined Celtic from Fulham, with the Premier League club confirming that the "highly-rated" 19-year-old had rejected the offer of a new contract.
Osmand, who has signed a four-year deal with the Scottish champions, has been at Craven Cottage since the age of 13 and has represented both England and Wales at youth level.
Last season, Osmand scored 18 goals across all competitions for Fulham's Under-21 side.
The teenager revealed he received advice about the move from Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Matt O'Riley, who was a Fulham trainee before a successful spell at Celtic Park.
"He was telling me about how big the club is, how amazing the fans are and it's a new life really," Osmand told Celtic TV.
"So, 'excited' is definitely the word for me. It feels unbelievable. It's a massive move and I can't wait to step out at Celtic Park in front of all the fans.
"When I spoke to the manager, he was really positive. The plan and pathway he has set out for the club is top."
Osmand becomes Celtic's fourth first-team addition of the summer following the arrival of fellow forward Benjamin Nygren from Nordsjaelland and the return of defender Kieran Tierney from Arsenal and goalkeeper Ross Doohan from Aberdeen.
Fulham will be due a development fee from the Glasgow club.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers told his club website: "He's a quick and powerful striker and I'm really looking forward to working with him.
"I'm sure he can be really successful with us. He is a highly-rated, talented young player."

Fulham 'identify' Championship defender as potential Kenny Tete replacement
Fulham are reportedly interested in signing Coventry City right-back Milan van Ewijk.
The Cottagers are scouring the market for a right-back, with Kenny Tete yet to make a final decision over his future at Craven Cottage.
As it stands, the Dutchman will become a free agent from July 1, although Fulham have not given up hope of agreeing a new deal.
A recent report claimed that Fulham had tabled a fresh contract offer in a last-ditch attempt to extend Tete's stay at the club.
However, Everton have also presented Tete with a proposal, as they look to sign a replacement for veteran defender Ashley Young.
Fulham explore Van Ewijk move
With uncertainty surrounding Tete's situation, Sky Sports News are reporting that Fulham are showing an interest in signing Coventry's Van Ewijk.
The report states that the West London club have already 'explored the conditions' of a potential transfer for the former Netherlands Under-21 international.
It is currently unclear how much Coventry will demand to part ways with a player who has two years left to run on his contract.
Fulham are also believed to have explored deals for Ipswich Town's Ben Johnson and former Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Walker-Peters, who is set to leave Southampton upon the expiry of his contract.
Who is Van Ewijk?
Van Ewijk spent time in the Feyenoord academy, before he went on to join Excelsior Maassluis, where he started his senior career.
The defender went on to play for Den Haag, Cambuur and Heerenveen prior to his move to Coventry in the summer of 2023.
Van Ewijk has made 100 competitive appearances for the Sky Blues, including starts in all 47 Championship appearances last term as Frank Lampard's side fell just short in the playoff semi-finals against Sunderland.
The defender, who can play as a full-back or wing-back, would operate on the right side of a back four if he were to join Marco Silva's side this summer.

Fulham 'interested' in Coventry City star amid like-for-like funding theory
Coventry City transfer news from CoventryLive as Premier League Cottagers claimed to have upped their interest in Sky Blues full-back
Fulham are "interested" in Coventry City right-back Milan van Ewijk, according to Sky Sports.
The report by the broadcaster's Transfer Centre comes on the day when the Sky Blues have been linked with a £3.5million plus move for Aston Villa's Kaine Kesler-Hayden following the 22-year-old's season-long loan spell at Preston where he was voted the club's player of the year.
According to Sky Sports, they understand that Fulham have "explored the conditions of a deal" for 24-year-old Van Ewijk, who has two years left on his contract at the CBS Arena. It is not the first time the Premier League club have been linked with the Dutchman, who has also been linked with interest from Everton and Galatasaray.
The report says that right-back is a priority position for Fulham, with Kenny Tete still deciding between re-signing for the club or joining Everton. It states that the Cottagers have not given up trying to retain the full-back, whose deal expires later today (June 30), and are believed to have improved their original contract offer.
Tete is Fulham's priority and until he makes a decision that will remain the case, it adds.
It further says that the top flight club have looked into deals for Kyle Walker-Peters - who is about to become a free agent with his Southampton contract expiring today - and Ipswich Town's Ben Johnson in this window.
The right-back position is also a priority for Frank Lampard at City where Van Ewijk was the club's only specialist for the position all last season when the Dutchman was virtually ever-present.
Coventry require two full-backs to compete for the right-hand berth but the sale of Van Ewijk would clearly be a way to fund the arrival of Kesler-Hayden, but leave Lampard still searching for another to come in to provide strength in depth and competition.

Tete set to stay at Fulham
Kenny Tete and Fulham are close to reaching an agreement over a contract extension to keep the right back at Craven Cottage.
The Dutch defender's contract is due to expire at the close of business this afternoon and Tete had previously rejected Fulham's offers to explore his options as a free agent. Fulham head coach Marco Silva made plain his desire that the former Ajax and Lyon full back remain part of his squad as he sought to strengthen his options over the summer months – and that led to the club's hierarchy putting another offer to Tete after he had agreed to sign for Everton.
Tete has made 119 appearances for the Whites, scoring four goals, since moving to SW6 from Lyon in a deal worth £3m. The 29 year-old has struggled with injuries throughout his time at Craven Cottage but he has been a consistent performer since Silva took over from Scott Parker in 2021.
Both Jack Kelly and Fabrizio Romano have also reported that Tete is now expected to remain with the Whites.

Super Eagles' saviour in friendly against Russia attracting interest from Fulham
Fulham are planning to secure a move for Genk's Tolu Arokodare to improve their striking force ahead of the upcoming campaign, according to reports from Sun Sport.
Arokodare made headlines earlier this month when he scored his first goal in Nigeria colours, saving the Super Eagles from a defeat to 2018 World Cup hosts Russia in a friendly held in Moscow.
The London outfit has already begun initial talks with the Nigerian striker, who is reported to be eager to move to England.
The 24-year-old was in prolific scoring form for Genk last season. He ended the season as the highest goalscorer in the Belgian Pro League with 21 goals in 40 games and 23 goals across all competitions.
He also provided six assists – a testament to his creative ability.
Fulham are in the market for a striker to add more goalscoring output as they look to improve upon their position from last season and fight for a European spot.
Fulham could boast a Nigerian trio of Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey and Tolu Arokodare starting next season should the Nigerian sharpshooter make the move to Craven Cottage.
Arokodare, who made his debut for Nigeria on March 21, 2025, against Rwanda, has four caps for the Nigeria national team and is highly rated amongst promising strikers in Europe.
Genk are resigned to losing the Nigerian marksman this summer and have begun scouring the market for a suitable replacement.

West Ham United ahead of Fulham in Rocco Reitz chase
Graham Potter's West Ham United are the front-runners to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Rocco Reitz in the summer transfer window.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, West Ham United are in pole position to complete the signing of Rocco Reitz. The Hammers have managed to leapfrog rivals Fulham in the pursuit of the German youth international.
Reitz has been a part of the Borussia Monchengladbach setup since his childhood days. He went up the ranks at some pace and got promoted to their first-team setup back in 2020. However, he had to wait until the 2023/24 season to have an extended run in their senior side.
It was a breakthrough season for the 23-year-old central midfielder as he was involved in a total of 34 Bundesliga fixtures and ended up contributing towards nine goals. While the youngster struggled with a toe injury last season, he still ended up featuring in 27 league games.
While Reitz prefers playing as a central midfielder, he is equally effective in a defensive as well as an attacking role. He was one of the standout performers for Germany at the recently concluded Under-21 Euro. Meanwhile, the player's performances over the last 18 months have put him on the radar of quite a few top clubs from across Europe.
West Ham leading the race to sign Reitz
In England, Fulham and West Ham United are two clubs that have taken note of his performances and are keen on adding him to their squads. Marco Silva wants more depth and quality in midfield, and Fulham consider Reitz an ideal player to bolster their midfield thanks to his versatility.
While the Cottagers have been working on a potential deal to sign Reitz for some time, West Ham United have leapfrogged them in the race to secure his signature. Graham Potter is also keen on having more quality in the centre of the park and believes the 23-year-old could help them dictate the pace of games.
As a result, the Hammers are ready to prise him away from Borussia Monchengladbach. His current deal runs until 2028, but the Bundesliga club are still more than willing to sell him this summer as there is a €20 million release clause in his contract, which is due to become active next summer.
Gladbach do not want to lose him for a cut-price fee, and with multiple top clubs keen on his signature, they are hoping a transfer tussle will drive up his price. The Bundesliga outfit are determined to make the most out of Reitz's potential departure.
Both West Ham and Fulham have already made enquiries about the 23-year-old, and the London clubs are expected to soon table an offer. While the Cottagers could still win the race, they are behind the Hammers for now.

Tete close to signing new Fulham deal
Fulham are close to agreeing a new deal with Kenny Tete.
Tete's contract is about to expire and the Whites have been trying to convince him to re-sign.
Everton have also made an offer and the Dutch right-back, 29, appeared to be ready to join the Merseyside club.
But Fulham seem to have made a breakthrough in negotiations and now look set to keep him.
Tete has been at Fulham for almost five years, having been signed from Lyon in September 2025.
He has made 109 league appearances for the club, scoring four goals.

Fulham 'plotting' swoop for 23-goal striker who is on Man United's radar
Fulham are reportedly interested in signing Genk striker Tolu Arokodare, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United.
Ruben Amorim's side have been linked with the Nigeria international, as they look to strengthen their forward line ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
Arokodare is a fan of the Red Devils and has admitted it would be a "dream" to complete a move to Old Trafford in his career.
The forward recently told Sports Boom: "Obviously, it's a dream to play in the Premier League, but I have my eyes on it for sure.
"Whatever options I have, I'll take my time and make the best decision. I'm a Manchester United fan, and if it happens, it would mean a lot to me and my family. Of course, it would be a dream come true."
Fulham eyeing Arokodare swoop
While Arokodare may be dreaming of joining Man United, he could be given the chance to join another Premier League club this summer.
According to The Sun, Fulham have identified the Genk star as an option to add more firepower to Marco Silva's frontline.
The report states that the Cottagers have already held 'exploratory talks' with the player's representatives over a potential move to West London.
Silva is described as being a 'huge admirer' of the forward and believes he would thrive in his system at Craven Cottage.
Genk are likely to demand around £15m to part ways with a player who is under contract until the summer of 2027.
Why is Arokodare attracting transfer interest?
Arokodare has scored 40 goals in 108 competitive appearances since he joined Genk from Latvian side Valmiera in January 2023.
The 24-year-old particularly impressed with his performances in the 2024-25 campaign, where he scored 23 goals in 45 matches across all competitions.
Arokodare registered 17 of those strikes in the league to finish the season as the top scorer in the Belgian top flight.
As a result of his club form, Arokodare was given the chance to make his Nigeria debut in March and has now gone on to make a total of four appearances for his country.

WHAT HAPPENED?
According to The Sun, the Cottagers have reportedly held talks with the player's representatives and are now preparing a formal bid for the forward. United, whose primary target remains Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres, has also put the 25-year-old in their shortlist.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The report adds that Arokodare is strongly interested in making a move to the Premier League this summer. His excellent displays in the Belgian top division have made him one of Europe's most sought-after forwards in the summer transfer window. The player is currently valued at £15 million ($20m).

Fulham boss Marco Silva is known to be an admirer of Arokodare's physicality and clinical finishing. Fulham join Manchester United in race for Super Eagles attacker
2010 UEFA Europa League finalists, Fulham, have joined Manchester United and other German clubs in the race for Super Eagles and KRC Genk attacker, Toluwalase Emmanuel Arokodare, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 24-year-old is another Nigerian forward who might be on the move this summer as Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, Ademola Lookman, Paul Onuachu and Cyriel Dessers have all been linked with exits from their current clubs.
Arokodare scored 23 goals and provided seven assists in 45 games for KRC Genk in all competitions, winning the Belgian Pro League Golden Boot. He's previously stated an intent to play in the English Premier League.
According to the Sun, Arokodare is eager to secure a move to the Premier League, and Fulham have already held talks with the striker's party over a possible move after he recently took on a new agency in a bid to make the big step-up to England.
Marco Silva's side have not been short of Nigeria-related talents in recent years, housing Josh Maja, Ademola Lookman, Ola Aina, Tosin Adarabioyo, Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey in the past six Premier League Campaign.
Arokodare stands at 1.97m, possessing a towering stature in the air, which is a trait Fulham forwards in recent years, boast of as a strength, meaning he'll fit right in alongside the Super Eagles innit-boys in Bassey and Iwobi.
Should Arokodare join Fulham?
Arokodare, who previously stated his dream transfer would be to Real Madrid, has cleared the air about a potential move to the English Premier League, specifically Manchester United.
In an interview with SportsBoom, the former FC Koln striker revealed he's always been a fan of the Red Devils, and wouldn't be averse to joining the three-time UEFA Champions League winners.
"Obviously, it's a dream to play in the Premier League, but I have my eyes on it for sure. Whatever options I have, I'll take my time and make the best decision.
"I'm a Manchester United fan, and if it happens, it would mean a lot to me and my family," the ex-Amiens SC striker said.
While Fulham are still considering their options, it'll be interesting to see which club Arokodare joins this summer.

Chelsea battle Tottenham, Crystal Palace, Fulham for Kyle Walker-Peters
Chelsea are ready to battle Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Fulham for the signature of English full-back Kyle Walker-Peters.
Kyle Walker-Peters is leaving Southampton as his contract has run out. He will soon officially be a free agent, and there is certainly no shortage of interest in the English international. According to a report from CaughtOffside, Chelsea are keen on signing him and they are ready to rival Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Fulham.
Walker-Peters was a part of the Tottenham setup back in the day. He went up the ranks at some pace and got promoted to their first team. Unfortunately, things didn't work out for him at the North London club.
He joined the Saints on a short-loan deal at the start of 2020 before the move was made permanent the following summer. The 28-year-old has only gone from strength to strength over the years, and he has been a consistent performer for them.
While Southampton had a disaster of a season last time out as they finished bottom of the Premier League and got relegated back to the Championship, Walker-Peters still did a decent job throughout.
Multiple English clubs want Walker-Peters
The Saints were keen on handing him a new deal, but he is not keen on playing in the second division. As a result, he has run down his contract and is now free to choose his next destination.
Given the amount of experience he has, his versatility and the fact that he will be available for free, multiple English clubs are after his signature. Thomas Frank seeks more depth at the back, and Spurs are considering re-signing him.
He could certainly prove to be a valuable addition to their team. Even Crystal Palace want more competition at right-back, and they really admire Walker-Peter. With Kenny Tete set to be a free agent, even Fulham are looking for a new right-sided full-back, and they are interested in the 28-year-old.
All three clubs to face competition from Chelsea
All three clubs have been closely monitoring his situation and could soon knock on his door. Meanwhile, Chelsea are also considering making a move for him. The Blues are not looking at him as an upgrade at right-back, but they feel he could prove to be a valuable squad player thanks to the abundance of experience he has.
The London club are keeping tabs on developments and could soon push to sign the English international. It certainly won't be easy for them, given the amount of competition for his signature.

Fulham 'closing in' on new Kenny Tete deal despite rival Everton interest
Fulham are reportedly close to agreeing a new contract with defender Kenny Tete, who has been linked with a move to Everton.
Tete's future has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks, with the full-back set to become a free agent from July 1.
The Dutchman has been attracting interest from Everton, who were believed to be in pole position after reaching an agreement with the player's camp.
However, it was recently reported that Fulham had tabled a fresh contract proposal in a last-ditch attempt to keep Tete at Craven Cottage.
Tete on verge of new Fulham deal
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Fulham are now close to agreeing a new deal with the right-back.
There is still some work to do to reach a formal agreement, but the Cottagers are 'confident' of extending Tete's services.
Tete already has a long association with Fulham, having spent the last five years at Craven Cottage following his arrival from Lyon.
As for Everton, they will likely have to turn elsewhere in their quest to sign a replacement for Ashley Young this summer.
Do Fulham need to sign another right-back?
Fulham have been scouring the market for potential right-back targets amid the uncertainty surrounding Tete's future.
The Cottagers have identified Coventry City's Milan van Ewijk as a potential option, while they have also been considering Ben Johnson and Kyle Walker-Peters.
However, there is no obvious need for Fulham to pursue a new right-back if Tete puts pen to paper on a new deal, because Silva would be able to call upon the 29-year-old and his backup option, Timothy Castagne.
Even if Castagne were to depart, Fulham's potential targets may be reluctant to settle for a squad role behind regular starter Tete.

Cairney and Fulham close to new one-year deal
Fulham are increasingly confident that they will conclude a deal that will deliver an eleventh campaign at Craven Cottage for club captain Tom Cairney.
The 34 year-old appeared set to be plying his trade elsewhere earlier this week when the Scottish international's representatives looked at breaking off discussions because they had not made enough progress. But just like with right back Kenny Tete, Fulham have returned with a new set of terms and a willingness to negotiate – which leaves the peerless playmaker prepared to compromise both on his wage demands and how much first-team football may come his way. The Times' Peter Rutzler suggests that a deal is more likely than not at this point.
Cairney has a host of offers from Premier League and Championship clubs as well as entertaining interest both from the MLS and Canada. The former Hull City and Blackburn Rovers midfielder has always insisted that he would prefer to remain in Marco Silva's senior squad and underlined his ability by turning the west London derby at Brentford around when he was introduced as a half-time substitute.
Cairney, who scored 47 goals in 354 games for Fulham, is unlikely to start many matches but his experience in the dressing room would be invaluable to the likes of Josh King, Martial Godo, Luc de Fougerolles – as well proving pivotal in the middle of the park as well.

German Side Don't Want To Lose Fulham And West Ham Target
German club Borussia Monchengladbach do not want to lose Rocco Reitz this summer, amid the Germany Under-21 international attracting interest from Fulham and West Ham United.
The 23-year-old was an integral part of the Germany team that reached the final of the recently concluded European Under-21 Championship, which England won.
His involvement in the tournament gave clubs the chance to have a close look at him and he has interest this summer.
There have been enquiries put in for Reitz, with one coming from Fulham, while their London rivals West Ham are also interested.
Fulham have yet to move beyond asking about him with his camp and are not yet in touch with Gladbach.
However, it could be that West Ham and Fulham find it tough to land Reitz this summer.
According to Sky Deutschland, Gladbach do not want to lose the central midfielder as they consider him a key man.
It now remains to be seen whether either West Ham or Fulham are able to come up with an offer that is able to convince Gladbach to change their stance.
Gladbach do have the midfielder under contract for another three years, which strengthens their position.
The 23-year-old featured in 28 games overall last season, making four goal contributions.
Fulham boss Silva is keen to bolster his squad and his working to get multiple issues sorted, one which is the future of Everton transfer target Kenny Tete.
Tete now looks set to extend his stay at Craven Cottage by rebuffing interest from Everton.
