Title: Euro final
Post by: South Coast White on July 27, 2025, 03:57:39 PM
Jes Carter back in starting 11.
Big mistake imo, just not got the pace especially against likes of Bonmati. Fear a heavy loss, hope I'm wrong.

When she is on form she can do the job, had a rough couple of weeks, hopefully her head is where it should be be.

I must admit, I would much rather be playing the Germans, we could cope with them,

But I can't see past a Spanish win unfortunately, they are so very, very good.  That said, this English side clearly don't know when they are beaten so there is always a punchers chance.

Parking the bus is asking for trouble, Arsenal did it against Barca and won but its a risky business.

You can't stop their tiki taka style but I hope we have a plan to limit it and do something they don't expect!

Seems a luxury player to me, like Foden in the mens. Often a yard off it. Know she has bags of technical quality; but hasn't been at it. Glad Kelly is on.

Much improved by England but some of the refs decisions very suspect. 2nd yellow she gave should have gone the other way. We touch a Spaniard and it's a free, they do the same and get away with it l.

Backs to the wall against the World Champions. Go behind. Still second best. But get a great equaliser and then in injury time backs to the wall.

No doubt that team never know when they are beaten. I thought only playing one up front was a mistake. Thought bringing Carter back was a mistake. Carter was outstanding at the back. A great achievement.

Incredible isn't it? It set me wondering how many top male international footballers would do that for their country? Not many I'd guess, I can think of England players of the 1960's and 70's who might have tried but not any more. That sort of selfless attitude of do it for the team seems to have disappeared from the men's game. Frankly I find our women's team inspirational.

Apparently the Spanish press are accusing Chloe Kelly of unsportsmanlike behaviour by deliberately running at the keeper after scoring the winner, if you look at Kelly she is looking at the English supporters behind the goal, they also saying that England robbed them of their rightful entitlement to the Euro title. Of course there is no mention of how many times the Spanish players went down in agony after a perfectly good tackle won the ball.

I think they are the ones with an unsportsmanlike attitude.

The Spanish got nearly all the decisions from a docile referee by play acting, and they still could not beat England.

I can't take the Spanish seriously when they complain about sportsmanship. When Michelle Agyemang went to slide tackle when we had our  backs to the wall. It is clear she didn't go through and withdrew her leg making no contact. The Spanish player jumped a mile in the air and collapsed as if she had been shot, run over by a passing lorry and trampled by a passing hippo.

The ref gave a free kick and Agyemang and the team looked so shocked by the decision. They did well to just walk away. Diving and pretending to be hurt made my respect for this great Spanish team disappear. They shouldn't need to cheat and fall down without contact. So I am surprised no England spokesperson has come out and mentioned it.

I didn't watch the celebrations. As an oldie I find all this nonsense over the top anyway. I celebrate the win and performance. But once we have interviews and then open top buses and women or men dancing to the beat. Well I always find it a bit embarrassing. Yes I know it's my fault. I bet after the war I would have been the one asking people to behave with decorum at the celebrations.

Best thing to happen was Lauren James going off for Chloe Kelly. Game changer.

Yep, I get why she started though. She was injured but they felt it best to start her, and bring her off once completely done....which didn't take long. I'm sure with hindsight, the obvious decision was to drop her as she was clearly injured. Made zero sense benching and bringing on as a gamble if injured though. She just hobbled around and we were almost playing with 10 woman early doors.

God no. Horrible things. Full of people and you usually have to take something and eat their food that has been left out and fingered by all sorts of people. You have to make polite conversation with people who are stupid and think you are stupid and none of them know what they are talking about and they all have opinions and fancy the woman with that gay bloke who pretends he works in finance but works behind the counter in Tesco. So not a big fan of parties. None of them put Band Maid music on either.

I can understand the emotion of what they have been through in the last forty eight hours but I do think that the heroine status seems to have gone to Chloe Kelly's head a little by her behaviour compared with some of the others.Perhaps I am just getting old!

I reckon you are a lot more fun than how you come across, I could happily buy you a pint.
