Calum McFarlane to remain in charge of Chelsea against Fulham as well — report
At least one more game for the interim head coach
Calum McFarlane will put his 100 per cent unbeaten record as Chelsea interim head coach to the test on Wednesday, with the news that he's set to remain in charge of the first-team (at least) until then.
As per reports, Liam Rosenior, the expected replacement for Enzo Maresca, was already in London on Monday, but has now flown back to Strasbourg, presumably to say his goodbyes and try to leave the club in decent order. He's still the only candidate in the frame as our next manager, so this is likely just a bit of formality. I don't imagine he'll be able to do or say anything to appease the angry fans of RC Strasbourg, but he might get credit for trying.
With McFarlane (and his staff) still in charge and busy with preparations for Wednesday's game against Fulham, it's not quite clear how the under-21s will deal with their PL International Cup match against Benfica on the same day.

Fulham now make approach to sign "fantastic" £22m Europa League midfielderFulham have now made an approach to sign a "fantastic" midfielder, who has been impressing in the Europa League this season.
Cottagers keen to strengthen in the engine roomThe Cottagers are looking to bring in a striker, central midfielder and right-winger this month, with Marco Silva recently insisting the uptick in form hasn't changed his plans, saying: "It's not because we won games and we are looking for a different position right now that we are changing ourselves,
"We look with full ambition for the season like we did before, and even if the results were not so good, we will not change completely the scenario because it's clear what we need."
Silva's side have been on a strong run in the Premier League, collecting 11 points from their last five matches, recently extending the unbeaten run to five games courtesy of Harrison Reed's last gasp equaliser against Liverpool.
Despite Reed's heroics, Fulham remain keen on signing a new central midfielder, and they have now made preliminary contact over a deal for Real Betis midfielder Sergi Altimara, with it being revealed the Spanish club could be willing to sanction a departure for the right price.
Indeed, according to a report from TEAMtalk, Betis have set an asking price of around £22m for Altimira, but the Cottagers are not alone in their pursuit, with Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt also very keen on securing his signature.
Betis are in a strong negotiating position, with the midfielder tied down on a contract until 2029, which suggests the west Londoners may need to fork out the full asking price to tempt his current employers into a sale.
"Fantastic" Altimira impressing in Europa LeagueThe 24-year-old has been an important player for Betis in the Europa League this season, featuring in all six games, and he was particularly impressive in the 3-1 win against Dinamo Zagreb last month, making three tackles and winning four duels to help keep the Croatian side at bay.
Lauded as "fantastic" by Spanish reporter Mateo Gonzalez last season, the Betis ace has strong defensive attributes, while he is also comfortable in possession of the ball, as showcased by his performance across some key statistics over the past year.
| Sergio Altimira's key statistics | Average per 90 (past year) |
| Tackles | 3.02 (94th percentile) |
| Interceptions | 1.56 (91st percentile) |
| Clearances | 2.17 (80th percentile) |
| Pass completion % | 91.5% (96th percentile) |
Perhaps the Spaniard's best moment this season came in La Liga at the end of November, however, scoring in Betis' 2-0 derby victory away at Sevilla.
Having put in some promising displays in both La Liga and the Europa League, Altimira could be an exciting signing for Fulham, and £21m feels like a reasonable fee to shell out.

Man Utd set to approach second Premier League boss amid Oliver Glasner stand-off
Manchester United are looking around for their next head coach with Oliver Glasner among the names on the top of their list, but Fulham believe their boss Marco Silva is likely to be on their radar
Manchester United are on the lookout for their next boss and Fulham believe they could get a call for Marco Silva, who is among the names being linked with the vacancy.
He was linked to the United job before his fellow countryman Ruben Amorim took it in November 2024, but he was given his marching orders on Monday. His sacking means that Ineos are looking for the second new manager of their ownership.
Silva took the job at Fulham when they were in the Championship, leading them to the title before establishing them as a Premier League club once again. His work has impressed plenty of onlookers and he was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia back in the summer.
The Portuguese head coach, who will be out of contract in the summer, has yet to give a response to the offer of a three-and-a-half-year contract that was put to him by the Fulham hierarchy back in November. That has fuelled suggestions he will leave when the season ends.
It has not gone unnoticed that Silva is yet to commit his future to Fulham and the club are braced for an approach from those in Manchester - either in the summer or sooner, reports The Sun.
The 48-year-old has backed away from speaking publicly about his future or his next move, but has made it clear that remaining with Fulham is not purely about wages. He wants to see if the club will be able to match his ambition going forward after several years in the top flight.
Back in the summer, with Fulham struggling to get signings in, he admitted it was "not ideal" before claiming: "I didn't expect us to be this passive. I knew what I wanted and the plan was there but it hasn't happened. Right now we need to reinforce. In some positions we are very short. Did I expect it? Of course not, but the market is the market."
United's top target for their managerial vacancy is believed to be another London-based manager in Oliver Glasner. The Crystal Palace boss has exceed expectations at Selhurst Park, winning the FA Cup and the Community Shield, all whilst losing some of his top players.
The Austrian is also out of contract in the summer and he's been vocal about some of his frustrations with how the Eagles have gone about their business. Plenty expect him to move on and his situation means that United are primed to pounce.

Fulham transfer news: Cottagers eye a Brazilian midfielder shining with Galatasaray
Gabriel Sara is starring at Galatasaray and receiving enquiries from Fulham and other English clubs.
Since joining Galatasaray in 2024, Sara has been a Premier League target ever since he moved to Turkey. According to Trivela, the former Sao Paulo midfielder has been approached by English top-flight clubs during the current transfer window.
Fulham are one of the English sides interested in the 26-year-old – but not the only one. Even before the start of the season, in July last year, Sara was targeted by giants such as Manchester City and Manchester United.
Fulham make enquiry for Gabriel Sara
The Turkish giants paid €18m (£15.8m) to sign Sara from Norwich, where he shone for two seasons after leaving Sao Paulo.
Since then, the midfielder has lifted the Turkish Super Lig and Turkish Cup trophies in his first season at the club. His performances have seen Premier League eyes turn back towards the player.
When he was previously targeted by English clubs, Sara's high salary at Galatasaray, although not officially revealed, was a stumbling block: only the big clubs in the Big Six would be able to afford him.
Now, Premier League clubs have once again made enquiries about the player, with Fulham among those interested – the others were not revealed. Fulham's enquiry for Sara, however, has not yet translated into an official bid with figures.
The midfielder could be a direct replacement for a position that lost another Brazilian. Marco Silva's side said goodbye to Andreas Pereira at the start of the season in August, when the midfielder joined Palmeiras for €10m (£8.8m).
The London squad also includes two other Brazilians: striker Rodrigo Muniz, who has become a fan favourite, and winger Kevin, who swapped Shakhtar Donetsk for Fulham for €40m (£35.1m) also at the start of this campaign.
Premier League interest in Sara
The former Sao Paulo player played in English football, but never in the Premier League. He spent two years in the Championship with Norwich without achieving promotion to the top flight. In his final season, he came close, reaching the play-offs for promotion.
At Norwich, he made 96 appearances, scoring 21 goals and providing 17 assists – including a standout 2023-24 campaign with 25 goal contributions in 46 Championship matches.
Despite previous interest, the Manchester duo of City and United have not opened talks with Gabriel Sara during the current transfer window.
Sara held talks with other clubs during the last transfer window, but his high salary in Turkey made negotiations with "mid-table" clubs unfeasible, meaning any discussions did not progress at the time. Sara's contract at Galatasaray runs until 2029.

Wilson: Feeling sharp
Harry Wilson discusses an eventful meeting with his former club on Sunday, his partnership with Raúl Jiménez, and keeping our form going in the SW6 derby.
Liverpool reaction...
The ending to the game was a bit crazy. Going from the emotions of thinking we've lost it in the 94th minute, to then Reedy scoring that amazing goal in the 97th. The feeling after the game, everyone was delighted for Reedy. Obviously when your teammate scores a goal like that, everyone's buzzing for him. As a whole, I think we're happy with a point. Our first half performance was really good, I thought Liverpool were probably the better team in the second half, so in general I think the point was probably fair. So the feeling in the changing room afterwards was quite positive, to get a point against the reigning champions is always good, and keeps our unbeaten run going.
Is he in the best form of his life?
Yeah I feel really good at the minute. As an attacker it's always nice when your numbers are good, but I think even before the goals and assists started to flow about a month ago I felt my performances were good. I feel sharp, I feel fit at the minute, and I feel that when the team's playing well it definitely helps you as an individual as well. I mentioned before that our unbeaten run we're on at the minute is good, and I'm hoping we can continue that against Chelsea on Wednesday.
The understanding with Raúl Jiménez...
I think Raúl's been amazing all season. To be putting in the performances he has been, the amount of games, he plays for the national team as well so all the travel he has to do to get over there and back, he rarely misses a game, so to be doing that at his age now, contributing to the team as a striker, it's not only his goals but his assists as well. I feel I have a really good connection with him – I know when the ball goes up to him he fights for every ball, doesn't give the defenders that he's up against a moment to rest. I feel like the goals and assists from the last couple of weeks have just been a reward for all the hard work that he puts in for the team.
What Marco is doing to bring out his best football...
He always talks to me about playing with confidence – I think that's the big thing in football. It's very easy when you're scoring and assisting, your confidence is high, but in the moments where maybe the numbers aren't coming you have to remain confident and keep doing the things you would when you are scoring and assisting. So I think that's been a big part in the conversations that we've had, and I feel this season, the minutes I've played, the games I've played, I've got into a real nice rhythm now. Whether it's playing out wide, or I played a bit more inside in the [Liverpool] game, I feel that whatever role I play now, I'm confident in that, and as I mentioned before, it definitely helps when the players around you and the team are playing well – it's easier as an individual to perform.
Taking positives from the weekend into Chelsea...
I think we definitely have to take confidence from the last game. When you go against the defending champions, no matter what kind of moment in the season they're in, I think a point is always positive. We scored two goals. The run we've been on the last month or so, we're full of confidence. We know Chelsea are an amazing team, got fantastic players, but when we played them early on in the season we were really unlucky not to win that game – a couple of decisions went against us. We know that if we perform to the levels we did there, we had a good win against them last season [too], then there's no reason we can't put on another good performance and get the three points.

Club will continue to frustrate Fulham efforts – Determined to secure 'World Cup bonus'
Fulham are likely to face continued frustration in their efforts to sign PSV Eindhoven striker Ricardo Pepi.
That's according to journalist Mike Verweij, via Voetbal 4 U. He believe that PSV Eindhoven will hold onto their striker until the summer, seeking a 'World Cup bonus'.
Fulham have been chasing Pepi for some time and reports have indicated that they will be moving again in the January transfer window.
PSV, though, have no intention of selling. While Fulham have made it clear that they would be willing to pay a substantial fee for the striker, the Dutch side are yet to budge.
"PSV director Ernest Stewart reiterated that this week, stating the club found Fulham's €30m-plus bid 'not interesting.' He spoke firmly about the potential move and made it clear that the Dutch side weren't interested in selling.
Of course, money often talks and a bigger bid from Fulham could quickly change that stance. Verweij, though, believes that PSV have a different plan laid out.
"I think PSV is counting its chickens before they hatch and that Pepi will be worth just as much after the World Cup, or maybe even more," he said.
That's something Driessen cannot comprehend. He believes that PSV are being foolish rejecting Fulham while they're so keen.
"PSV obviously needs a striker, and Pléa is with us at training camp, but when will he make his comeback?
"So, you shouldn't actually let him go, but are you going to earn €35m back in the Champions League? I would definitely sell him for €35m.
"Of course not, he's not a special footballer at all. He's a good footballer, but not for the top of the Premier League. There's a reason Fulham is signing up and not Liverpool."

Why Liam Rosenior won't be in Chelsea dugout against Fulham
New Blues boss will have to wait a few days for his first game in charge
Liam Rosenior will watch on from the stands at Craven Cottage as Calum McFarlane leads Chelsea against Fulham.
Rosenior was on Tuesday morning announced as Chelsea's new head coach on a contract that runs until 2031 and includes the option to extend by a further 12 months.
The 41-year-old said his goodbyes to Strasbourg in a final press conference held in France shortly before, and will now travel back to London and take his first training session as Chelsea boss at Cobham on Thursday morning as the Blues prepare for Saturday night's FA Cup third-round trip to Charlton.
Before that, the Blues face west London rivals Fulham in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
Chelsea decided the Charlton game made more sense as Rosenior's first match in charge, but Standard Sport understands he is expected to sit alongside directors and watch the Fulham derby from the stands at Craven Cottage.
Following the departure of Enzo Maresca on New Year's Day, Chelsea's Under-21s head coach McFarlane took temporary charge of the senior team for Sunday's match against Manchester City, when the Blues earned a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium thanks to Enzo Fernandez's late equaliser.
McFarlane will be in the dugout again for the game against Fulham, before handing over the reins to Rosenior ahead of the weekend visit to The Valley and returning to his usual role.
Rosenior faces a busy first few weeks at the helm of Chelsea, who host Arsenal in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final tie next week.
His first league match will come in another London derby against Brentford at Stamford Bridge on January 17, which is followed four days later by their penultimate fixture of the Champions League league phase at home to Cypriot club Pafos.
Chelsea also face Crystal Palace, Napoli and West Ham before the end of a hectic January, with the transfer window open for business.

Chelsea get huge triple return boost for Fulham clash as Liam Rosenior plan emerges
Chelsea face Fulham on Wednesday evening with a triple boost confirmed before the Premier League clash
Chelsea interim head coach Stuart MacFarlane has confirmed Marc Cucurella and Robert Sanchez are back in training with Moises Caicedo also available again.
He said: "They are all training today. We have training in a few hours. We will have a better idea after the session." It has also been confirmed that new boss Liam Rosenior will watch the Blues' Premier League clash against Fulham at Craven Cottage from the stands.
Speaking on the 41-year-old, MacFarlane said: "I spoke with Liam briefly last night, he is really excited about taking the role. He is going to be at Cobham later today so I will catch up with him. The conversation was really brief. We will keep most of that private. I wouldn't be giving him any advice.
"Liam is a really accomplished coach and has had a wonderful start to his career. I'm leading the game tomorrow and hopefully we can give him the three points."
Having Caicedo, Cucurella and Sanchez all back in the fold will go some way to achieving that. The former will almost definitely start having missed the trip to Etihad Stadium through suspension.
Sanchez is also expected back between the sticks, having missed Sunday's draw with a minor issue, while Wesley Fofana was absent through illness.
There is some doubt surrounding Cucurella, though, with the Spanish left-back missing the last two games because of a thigh injury.
Rosenior's first official game in charge will be the FA Cup third round tie against Charlton this weekend. The now-former Strasbourg boss spoke candidly in his final press conference at the French club before his move was made official.
He said: "I was given the chance to speak to, for me, actually not for me, it's the truth that they're one of the biggest football clubs in the world.
"They were Club World Cup champions and it's an honour for me to be associated with a club like that. Now, on this day, it looks like I'm going to be the next manager of that football club."
As quoted in Chelsea's club statement confirming his appointment, he said: "I am extremely humbled and honoured to be appointed Head Coach of Chelsea Football Club. This is a club with a unique spirit and a proud history of winning trophies.
"My job is to protect that identity and create a team that reflects these values in every game we play as we continue winning trophies. To be entrusted with this role means the world to me and I want to thank all involved for the opportunity and faith in undertaking this job. I will give everything to bring the success this club deserves.
"I believe deeply in teamwork, unity, togetherness and working for one another, and those values will be at the heart of everything we do. They will be the foundation of our success.
"I am excited to work with this extremely talented group of players and staff, to build strong connections on and off the pitch, and to create an environment where everyone feels united and driven by the same goal.

Pre-Chelsea Press ConferenceMarco Silva is hoping for more of the same from the Craven Cottage crowd when we host Chelsea on Wednesday evening.
The home fans rallied behind the team big time on Sunday when they were under pressure from an improved Liverpool side in the second half, and were eventually rewarded by Harrison Reed's worldie strike – one the Hammersmith End seemingly tried to suck into the goal.
"We need them, we need their help," Silva replied when asked what role the supporters can play in the SW6 derby. "And they know, they know it's important, they understand that.
"We are going to play at home, and we need them behind us. We felt during some moments of the Liverpool game, more second half that was more difficult for us, more after that goal when they equalised, the fans were behind the team.
"They pushed us in the last minutes of the game when we were trying to win the game, before the 2-1, they pushed us.
"The environment was incredible, and you know that in the next one [against Chelsea] it's going to be slightly different because it's a special game, and from the first whistle until the last they are going to be completely behind ourselves.
"We need them, we need them in moments of more fatigue or something like that. We need them to push and to be that extra player that is going to be necessary for us to try to win the game."
The last few meetings with our local neighbours have been very tight affairs – the away side snatched a late victory in both games in 2024/25, while the manner of our defeat at the Bridge this season remains a bitter pill to swallow.
"It's special," Silva said of the fixture. "It's special, because we know what's happened. We look for last season, how we won away, how we lost at home, both games with late goals.
"It really hurt ourselves, our fans, this football club, the way we were not able to win the game at Stamford Bridge [this season].
"The way the team performed almost perfectly first half, in a really tough game against a top, top side, the way the team performed, and everything that happened in that game, really hurt this football club. I'm not talking about one or two persons, or just the players – us, the football club, the way that things happened that Saturday morning.
"It is what it is – now it's another opportunity for us to enjoy, to embrace a big challenge with our fans to play a derby like a derby should be played. Simple as that.
"It's a new game, a new story. I don't want anyone to think about the past, we have to look for the future, and what's going to be most important is the next one. It's a special game."

Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, Tottenham informed about Jorgen Strand Larsen move, Wolves ready to sell
Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly "all being informed about" the situation of 25-year-old Norwegian striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, and Tottenham Hotspur will have the opportunity to sign Jorgen Strand Larsen in the winter transfer window. The four Premier League clubs are "all being informed" about his situation. Meanwhile, Wolverhampton Wanderers are ready to cash in on the Norwegian international by accepting a bid worth around £40 million.
How has Jorgen Strand Larsen fared in the Premier League?
Jorgen Strand Larsen has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Wolverhampton Wanderers from Celta Vigo. The Black Country outfit initially signed the 25-year-old on loan 18 months ago before completing a permanent move this past summer. The player was excellent in his debut season with the Premier League club, but he has not been at his best this term.
The Norwegian international has managed only three goals in 21 appearances in all competitions thus far in the 2025/26 season. However, Strand Larsen's stock remains high, with his progress capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, and Tottenham Hotspur may be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the winter transfer window.
A man in demand
Recent reports have suggested that Everton will not sign Strand Larsen in the winter transfer window. However, the Toffees are seemingly combing the market for a striker, as Beto has struggled to make his mark throughout his spell with the Merseyside outfit. The latest report has revealed that Everton, along with Crystal Palace, Fulham, and Tottenham, are "being informed" about his situation.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace's interest in Jorgen Strand Larsen is understandable. The Eagles are scouring the market for a striker amid uncertainties surrounding Jean-Philippe Mateta's long-term future. As for Fulham, Raul Jimenez is on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the twilight of his career.
With Rodrigo Muniz struggling with fitness issues this season, Fulham must dip into the market for a striker, with Strand Larsen a viable target. As for Tottenham, Randal Kolo Muani's long-term future is uncertain, while Dominic Solanke has struggled with fitness issues since arriving from Bournemouth. So, the Wolverhampton Wanderers striker is an option worth considering for the North London club.
Meanwhile, recent reports have also linked Strand Larsen with West Ham United. However, the Hammers have ruled out a move for the 25-year-old Norwegian international after signing Pablo and Valentin Castellanos. Meanwhile, Wolverhampton Wanderers are ready to sell the player, and they will demand around £40 million to part ways with him in the winter transfer window.

Referee appointed for Chelsea vs Fulham has sent off two Blues in last three games, one cost them the match
There was very little refereeing drama for Calum McFarlane to worry about in the first of his likely two games in charge of the Chelsea first team.
The Blues nicked a draw against Manchester City at the weekend thanks to Enzo Fernandez's last goal, with plenty of credit being given to the interim boss for the magnitude of the result.
While the trip to the Etihad will have been seen as a free hit at the end of a chaotic week at Stamford Bridge, the West London derby presents a game where the Blues need to be targeting all three points to stay on track this season.
Liam Rosenior is expected to be in the stands to watch after officially being announced as the new Chelsea manager.
The Chelsea Chronicle have predicted six changes to the starting side, including a return for Wesley Fofana and Robert Sanchez after illness and injury kept them out of the last game.
The Premier League have announced that Peter Bankes will be the referee for the derby match, with Eddie Smart and Blake Antrobus as his assistants.
Ever popular amongst Chelsea fans, Anthony Taylor will be the fourth official, while John Brooks will be in charge of VAR at Craven Cottage.
Bankes has taken charge of 13 competitive Chelsea games, with the Blues coming out on top in eight of those.
However, fortunes of late have normally involved some sort of refereeing drama, normally at the expense of the Blues.
Bankes has given out two red cards in his last three Chelsea games
Sanchez may be one of those returning to the Chelsea side, but he will have to be on his best behaviour after getting no sympathy from the English referee late in 2025.
The goalkeeper was sent off by Bankes just minutes into their game against Manchester United, costing them the chance at winning and breaking their duck at Old Trafford.
The game before that saw the Blues beat Brentford 2-1 in the 2024/25 season, where Marc Cucurella was sent off at full-time.
This saw him absent for the upcoming game against Everton, the start of a five-game run without a win under Enzo Maresca.

From Brazil: Fulham making serious efforts for midfielder
Fulham have made enquiries about Gabriel Sara, as interest in the Brazilian midfielder continues to grow following his strong spell at Galatasaray.
According to reporting from Brazilian outlet Trivela, the London club have contacted the player's camp in the past few days.
Fulham are not alone, although no other English sides have been named at this stage. We know Sunderland and Leeds were recently mentioned in other reports. But most importantly, the interest has not yet progressed to a formal bid.
Sara, now 26-years-old, has been monitored by Premier League clubs since his move to Turkey in 2024. Before last season even began, he had already drawn attention from elite sides such as Manchester City and Manchester United. However, those clubs are not in talks with the midfielder in the current window.
Galatasaray paid €18m to sign Sara from Norwich City, where he spent two seasons after leaving São Paulo. Since arriving in Istanbul, he has won both the Turkish league and the Turkish Cup, lifting two trophies in his first year. That impact has reignited Premier League attention.
Fulham can cover high salary if required
Previously, Sara's high salary in Turkey limited options to Big Six sides only. Now, clubs have returned with fresh enquiries. Fulham see him as a potential solution after selling Andreas Pereira last August.
Sara never played in the Premier League during his time in England, featuring instead in the Championship. He made 96 appearances for Norwich, scoring 21 goals and providing 17 assists. His 2023-24 season stood out, with 25 goal contributions in 46 matches, including a play-off push.
The midfielder remains under contract at Galatasaray until 2029, and for now his next step remains open.

Fulham request PGMOL explanation after offside controversy in Liverpool draw
Marco Silva believes Florian Wirtz equaliser should not have stood
Fulham have contacted Professional Game Match Official Limited (PGMOL) regarding the controversial decision to allow Florian Wirtz's goal to stand in Sunday's draw with Liverpool.
The German looked to have received the ball in an offside position before firing home to draw Liverpool level at 1-1, and his goal was allowed to stand after a lengthy VAR check.
Stills from the VAR monitor appear to confirm that the player was in an offside position, though footage from the semi-automated offside technology confirmed the goal would stand.
Standard Sport understands Fulham have now reached out to PGMOL for an explanation as to why the goal stood.
Offside rules were adjusted ahead of this campaign to give goalscorers the benefit of the doubt, with a 5cm tolerance level applied to tight decisions. Wirtz, subsequently, was deemed to have been less than 5cm offside.
While Fulham went on to take a deserved point from the match after Harrison Reed's stunning injury-time leveller, Marco Silva was less than impressed with the decision to allow Wirtz's goal to stand.
Speaking at full-time, he said: "We felt the same, many people in the stadium felt the same, but the semi-automatic we have to believe in it. They have to be 100 per cent sure of it.
"It took a long time for something that should be automatic. They have all the tools to decide it right so let's hope they did."
In a near three-minute rant on Tuesday, he added: "Now, I have more images, different tools. For me, I cannot believe how that goal was allowed, it was a clear offside. We are still waiting for feedback from the Premier League. Everyone had the same opinion, it was clear. It's much more than 5cm in my opinion."
It is not the first time this season that Fulham have foul of dubious VAR decisions.
Young midfielder Josh King saw what would have been his first senior goal controversially ruled out at Stamford Bridge early in the campaign after a soft foul in the build-up.
The Blues were eventually awarded an equally contentious penalty, which Enzo Fernandez dispatched to secure a 2-1 win.
Speaking at the time, Silva said: "The second decision was completely unbelievable, for that penalty.
"And it was an unbelievable decision [for King's goal]. You have many decisions to talk about. I have spoken about referees so many times. I am not in the best mood to do it."

Matchday Preview: Chelsea🆚 Chelsea
🏟 Craven Cottage
🏆 Premier League
🗓 Wednesday 7th January
⏰ 7.30pm
The opposition
On the eve of the SW6 derby, Chelsea announced that Liam Rosenior would be taking over as the club's head coach on a six-and-a-half year deal. The former Fulham right-back won't be in the dugout at the Cottage on Wednesday, though, with Under-21s boss Calum McFarlane continuing to lead the side. McFarlane grabbed a creditable draw at the Etihad on Sunday in his other game in charge, although that does mean Chelsea's recent Premier League record reads just one win in eight. A victory for Fulham would put us level on points with our neighbours.
Team news
🤍 Josh King, Kenny Tete and Rodrigo Muniz remain injured, but Ryan Sessegnon has a chance of making the squad list. Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze are away at AFCON.

Programme
In a league that demands instant impact, Jorge Cuenca's story is a reminder that some players grow into their role quietly - but when they do, they bring with them depth, reliability and the kind of resilience that can only be earned over time.
With Calvin Bassey away at AFCON, Cuenca has stepped into Fulham's starting XI and delivered composed, assured performances. For a player who spent long periods last season working in the background, the opportunity has been both welcome and validating.
"It's very satisfying," the 26-year-old tells the official matchday programme for the visit of Chelsea. "When you're working every day and not able to play, sometimes it feels a little bit strange. You have to stay strong mentally. Now I'm playing, I can show what I can do, and the results have been good. That makes me very happy."
Elsewhere in the 104-page publication, Marco Silva, Tom Cairney and Robert Wilson pen their regular columns, while Emile Smith Rowe lifts the lid on his teammates. We also catch up with Mark Schwarzer as he prepares to be inducted into the Forever Fulham club, and Simon Morgan is the next subject in our Cult Heroes series.
The programme will be on sale around the ground on Wednesday, priced £4, or available to purchase online.

From the Press Box: Sessegnon in contention to play SW6 Derby
Jack Kelly updates us from Silva's pre-Derby press conference.
The SW6 derby is always highly anticipated - and rightly so. The last three fixtures between has thrown up plenty of drama, controversy and talking points.
A comment on my latest TikTok filmed after the press conference this afternoon read: "SW6 Derby doesn't exist."
This bot couldn't be more wrong. Every club has games that mean more to the fans than others. As I seem to recall, the away fans were singing many anti-Fulham songs at the Cottage in April during their 1-2 win. I think they care about this fixture more than your average neutral fan thinks.
After the madness of Sunday, Fulham will be fired up for this one for many reasons. Josh King may play no part in the Derby tomorrow evening, but no-one has forgotten the events that took place in the reverse fixture in August.
One player who may feature is Ryan Sessegnon. We were treated to some good news from Marco Silva to kick-off the press conference.
"Same (team) news, apart from Sessegnon, who can be in contention for the game. No Tete, King and Muniz."
That's a welcome boost given the versatile nature of Ryan's game. With Jedi flying, we could see Sess feature at some point on either flank, a position Fulham are short in.
What I liked about today's press conference, was that Silva, in an almost three-minute long answer, expressed essentially the same feelings as all the fans did after Sunday's game, regarding Florian Wirtz's controversial equaliser.
Having had time to look back at the images, Silva felt the goal should not have stood. An opinion that 99% of the footballing world also had. He confirmed that Fulham have not yet hard back from PGMOL, and I'm sure the club will patiently wait for some sort of explanation
"Now, I have more images, different tools. For me, I cannot believe how that goal was allowed, it was a clear offside. We are still waiting for feedback from the Premier League. Everyone had the same opinion, it was clear. It's much more than 5cm in my opinion", said Silva.
"Against Palace at home, our goal from Smith Rowe was disallowed, it was not 5cm, probably half a nail of Chukwueze. The goal was disallowed, what's happened to this game? The tolerance was not spoken about then."
He's bang on. It just further fuels the narrative that Fulham have been on the end of some shocking, shocking decisions this season. We now next play an opponent against whom one of the worst VAR decisions was made.
Silva said he believes at the end of the season, everything will balance itself out, which is a take I've peddled for years. I hope we get something go in our favour tomorrow, or better still, we outclass our opponents - enough to claim all three points.
I'm fired up, the fans are fired up, the players are fired up - and Silva is fired up for this one. Let's leave everything out on the pitch and pray we get a Carlos Vinicius moment from Jonah Kusi-Asare.
Up the Fulham.

Fulham Eyeing Galatasaray Star Gabriel Sara as Midfield Reinforcement
Fulham are reportedly weighing up a move for Galatasaray playmaker Gabriel Sara, as manager Marco Silva looks to bolster his squad with a proven creative force during the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old Brazilian has been a revelation in Türkiye since his €18 million move from Norwich City in 2024, helping the Istanbul giants secure a domestic double of the Süper Lig and the Turkish Cup. According to reports from Trivela, Sara's high-level performances have reignited interest from the Premier League, with several clubs making formal inquiries.
The Ideal Successor to Andreas Pereira?
For Fulham, the interest in Sara is tactically driven. The Cottagers are still looking for a long-term replacement for Andreas Pereira, who departed for Palmeiras in a €10 million deal last August.
Sara would fit seamlessly into a London squad that already features a strong Brazilian core, including fan-favorite striker Rodrigo Muniz and big-money summer signing Kevin. While Sara spent two years in England with Norwich City, he has never played in the Premier League—falling just short of promotion during a standout 2023-24 Championship campaign where he recorded an impressive 25 goal contributions.
The "Big Six" Wage Hurdle
Despite the clear interest from West London, any potential deal faces a significant financial obstacle: Sara's salary. While the exact figures remain undisclosed, his earnings in Istanbul were previously considered a stumbling block for mid-table English sides.
In the past, elite clubs like Manchester City and Manchester United have monitored the midfielder, but neither Manchester giant has currently entered the fray during this window. This may provide an opening for Fulham, provided they can structure a package that meets the player's expectations and Galatasaray's valuation.
A Long-Term Asset for the Lions
Galatasaray are under no immediate pressure to sell their star man. Sara is under contract in Türkiye until 2029, and having established himself as one of the most productive midfielders in the league, the "Lions" are expected to demand a significant profit on the £15.8 million they paid Norwich.
With his technical ability, vision, and eye for goal, Sara represents the "missing piece" for many English clubs looking to climb the table. Whether Fulham can turn their inquiry into a concrete offer remains to be seen, but the Brazilian is clearly eager to finally make his mark on the Premier League stage.

Fulham make €20m offer – Move for player as he returns from injury
Back in November, Tuttomercatoweb mentioned Manchester City as a candidate to land Udinese's Arthur Atta. Fulham have now emerged as a suitor for the midfielder.
Friulian newspaper Messaggero Veneto carry a feature about the 22-year-old, who has risen in stature this season.
They note that the Frenchman has been missing due to injury since late November. He is expected to return to action against Torino on Wednesday.
In the meantime, Fulham have come forward for the midfielder and have been attracted by his earlier performances. They have made a €20m offer for him but this was deemed 'too little' by Udinese.
The London club are provided encouragement about a future move, as the newspaper claims that 'we'll talk about it again'. This is perhaps an indication that Fulham could come back in for Atta next summer.
Udinese are currently focused on making the most out of the player, who has played 15 times in all competitions. He has two goals and two assists in the campaign.
It is unknown how much Fulham would have to pay for Atta in the summer. But it clear that his value is likely to grow, especially if he avoids major injuries.
This can also be an attempt from Udinese to attract other major offers for their asset. It is very unlikely they hold on to him for too long.

Fulham contact PGMOL over 'offside' Wirtz goal
Marco Silva says Fulham have contacted the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) over Florian Wirtz's controversial goal for Liverpool on Sunday.
Wirtz's 57th-minute strike during the Premier League game was initially flagged offside.
But despite replays suggesting the midfielder was in an offside position, the goal was allowed to stand after a video assistant referee (VAR) check to bring Liverpool level at 1-1.
The game went on to finish 2-2 as both sides netted during stoppage time, but Silva described Wirtz's goal as "a clear offside" and called for clarification.
"The club is trying to get in contact [with PGMOL] - until now we didn't have any feedback," Silva said.
It is understood dialogue between Fulham and PGMOL will likely take place as part of the latter's ongoing private engagement with clubs under chief Howard Webb.
Having looked at several images since the weekend, Silva said he "cannot believe" the decision made by officials.
"We are still waiting for some feedback from the Premier League, from PGMOL, because it is very important for us," he said.
"We didn't have the one to make us understand why and not have the same opinion.
"Not just me... me, my staff, our football club, all the other players, fans.
"I think if you go to ask all Premier League [teams, each club] is going to have the same opinion. All the people that love football will have the same opinion as myself."
Why was the strike allowed?
Even Wirtz had not expected the goal to stand, telling Sky Sports: "I was sure it was offside so I didn't even celebrate."
It was given, though, because positions are measured with a tolerance level of about 5cm (1.95in).
That was initially introduced to take into account inaccuries in the offside technology used several seasons ago - for example, being able to judge the correct moment the ball had been passed.
In effect, a player could be positioned marginally offside but ruled onside when the tolerance level was applied.
The Premier League retained that tolerance level when moving over to the semi-automated offside system now used.
Another element involved is the choice of frame. The video assistant referee (VAR) is offered three frames and chooses the first to show contact in the act of playing the ball. It is not when the ball leaves the foot.
In Wirtz's case, the VAR chose one frame and TV broadcasters the next. Wirtz is more clearly offside in the second.
Silva not convinced
That, however, has not placated Silva, who said: "I don't have a way to measure, but in my opinion it is much more than 5cm.
"When you see the moment of the pass in all the images, the player was clear offside."
He also questioned where the tolerance level was a month ago when Emile Smith Rowe had a goal disallowed against Crystal Palace with Samuel Chukwueze narrowly offside in the build-up.
"Where was the story about 5cm tolerance when we scored against Palace?" Silva asked.
"It was half of the nail, probably 1cm or 2cm that was offside."

Fulham line up Sergi Altimira swoop
Fulham are reportedly interested in signing 24-year-old Spanish midfielder Sergi Altimira from La Liga club Real Betis this year.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Sergi Altimira is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers have been scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the winter transfer window and have set their sights on the Real Betis mainstay.
The 24-year-old has done quite well in La Liga, and he could prove to be an excellent acquisition for Fulham. They need more quality and depth in the middle of the park. The Spanish midfielder has the physicality and technical attributes to do well in English football, and he will add defensive steel and presence in the middle of the park.
The opportunity to move to the Premier League could be exciting for him. It would be a step up for the player, and he will look to prove himself in English football. Fulham have done well this season, and they will be chasing a top-half finish.
The Cottagers need quality players to finish the season strongly. Improving the midfield unit would be a wise decision for them. They have not been able to control games at times, and the arrival of the Real Betis midfielder will help them improve immensely.
The West London outfit have put in impressive performances against top teams like Liverpool in recent weeks, and improving the team in January will help them perform at a higher level in the coming months.
Can Fulham get the deal done?
It will be interesting to see if Fulham can secure an agreement with the Spanish club in the coming weeks. The Cottagers have the financial muscle to get the deal across the line, and Real Betis could be tempted if there is a concrete proposal on the table. Convincing Sergi Altimira to join the club might not be too difficult. They have the resources to offer him a lucrative contract.
The 24-year-old is entering the peak years of his career, and this could be the right time for him to take on a new challenge. If the Spaniard manages to impress with the London club, he might be able to secure a bigger move in the future.
Fulham could be the ideal stepping stone for the Real Betis mainstay. The Spanish midfielder will look to establish himself as a key player for them and prove his quality in the Premier League with regular football.

Chelsea make the short trip to Craven Cottage to face Fulham on Wednesday evening after appointing Liam Rosenior as their new head coach, but Calum McFarlane will remain charge of the Blues
Fulham and Chelsea could be without a combined total of 11 players when the two sides go head-to-head at Craven Cottage on Wednesday evening.
Despite Liam Rosenior being appointed as the club's new head coach on Tuesday morning, the Englishman will not take charge of the team for the encounter. Instead, he is expected to watch from the stands as Calum McFarlane takes the helm once more.
While Rosenior will hope to see first hand the abilities of his current crop of players, a number of Chelsea stars will miss the match for various reasons. Elsewhere, Marco Silva will be forced to navigate a number of absentees at Fulham - some injured while others continue to thrive at the Africa Cup Of Nations.
Here, Football.London looks at all of the players who could miss Wednesday's Premier league fixture...
Wesley Fofana
Wesley Fofana is touch and go for Wednesday's match, with McFarlane explaining that he would be assessed on Tuesday during his pre-match press conference.

Romeo Lavia
Romeo Lavia is still on the road to recovery from a thigh injury, and is not expected to feature against Fulham.
Mykhailo Mudryk
Mykhailo Mudryk has been provisionally suspended since 2024, after a urine sample tested positive for a banned substance.
Dario Essugo

Fulham vs Chelsea: Preview and PredictionFulham and Chelsea will be eager to return to winning ways when they lock horns at Craven Cottage on Wednesday. The games continue to come thick and fast, as Gameweek 21 of the 2025/26 Premier League season continues on Wednesday with eight fixtures. The action on the day will start with six simultaneous games, including Fulham vs Chelsea at Craven Cottage.
Marco Silva has turned things around for Fulham in recent weeks, with Fulham embarking on a five-match unbeaten run in the past month. While the Cottagers have dropped points in their last two games, they have earned creditable draws with Crystal Palace and Liverpool in those outings. The positive run of results has lifted the West London club to 11th on the Premier League table, three points behind fifth-placed Chelsea.
On the other hand, Chelsea's struggles have amplified in recent weeks, with the poor run of results and run-ins behind the scenes costing Enzo Maresca his job. The 2024/25 UEFA Europa Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup winners won only one of their eight Premier League games.
However, the Blues were impressive in the 1-1 draw with Manchester City after scoring a late equaliser to earn a point this past weekend. Meanwhile, a new era is on the horizon for Chelsea, as they have appointed Liam Rosenior as the new head coach. However, Calum McFarlane will be in the dugout against Fulham, taking his second and final game in charge as the caretaker boss.
The reverse fixture ended in a 2-0 win for Chelsea, with Joao Pedro and Enzo Fernandez finding the back of the net. The Hard Tackle looks closer at the encounter ahead of the latest meeting between the two sides.
Team News & TacticsFulhamMarco Silva has no new injury concerns hampering his preparations ahead of his side's latest fixture. However, the Fulham manager continues to be bereft of the services of over half a dozen first-team players vs Chelsea on Wednesday.
Joshua King is closing in on returning from a knee injury. However, Wednesday's game may have come too soon for the young playmaker. Meanwhile, Ryan Sessegnon, Kenny Tete, and Rodrigo Muniz remain in the treatment room due to their hamstring injuries. Additionally, Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, and Samuel Chukwueze are still at the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria.
Bernd Leno is an automatic pick between the sticks, with Fulham lining up in a 3-4-2-1 formation in front of him vs Chelsea on Wednesday. The central defensive unit will feature Issa Diop, Joachim Anderson, and Jorge Cuenca. Meanwhile, Timothy Castagne and Antonee Robinson will be the two wing-backs.
The wide duo will provide width in the final third and protect the centre-backs. As for the midfield unit, Sander Berge will line up alongside Sasa Lukic in the double pivot. Finally, Raul Jimenez will lead the line for Fulham against Chelsea, with Kevin and Harry Wilson completing the numbers in the offensive unit.
Probable Lineup (3-4-2-1): Leno; Diop, Andersen, Cuenca; Castagne, Berge, Lukic, Robinson; Wilson, Kevin; Jimenez
(https://formation-images-cdn.homecrowd.io/images/ENG/2026/01/06/2bQPWUinEoIrpyCCQD3D_Eme.png)
ChelseaUnlike his counterpart in the Fulham dugout, Calum McFarlane has received positive updates on the team news front ahead of the trip to Craven Cottage. Chelsea's caretaker boss may be without only four first-team players on Wednesday.
Moises Caicedo is available after serving a suspension in the game against Manchester City. Meanwhile, Robert Sanchez (muscular), Wesley Fofana (illness), and Marc Cucurella (hamstring) are closing in on returning from their short layoffs. However, Levi Colwill (knee), Dario Essugo (hamstring), and Romeo Lavia (thigh) remain in the treatment room. Additionally, Mykhailo Mudryk continues to serve his doping ban.
Filip Jorgensen will continue between the sticks if Robert Sanchez is not fit and available, with Chelsea lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him vs Fulham on Wednesday. The backline will feature Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah, Benoit Badiashile, and Malo Gusto. Wesley Fofana will feature in place of Badiashile if he is ready to start.
As for the midfield unit, Moises Caicedo will pair up with Enzo Fernandez in the double pivot. Cola Palmer will reprise the no. 10 role, with Estevao Willian and Pedro Neto being the two wide attackers. Finally, Joao Pedro will spearhead the Chelsea attack against Fulham, with Liam Delap being a backup option on the bench.
Probable Lineup (4-2-3-1): Jorgensen; James, Chalobah, Badiashile, Gusto; Caicedo, Fernandez; Estevao, Palmer, Neto; Joao Pedro

Key Stats Chelsea have a strong recent record vs Fulham, and they have won six of their last seven Premier League games at Craven Cottage, the exception being a 2-1 loss in January 2023. Meanwhile, when Fulham returned to the Premier League in 2022, they had won only one of their 30 matches against Chelsea in the competition (D10 L19). Since then, they have recorded two victories in seven meetings with their West London rivals, drawing once and losing on four occasions.
Fulham have lost four of their last six London derbies at home (W2), having previously gone unbeaten in seven outings. They could lose three successive home matches against fellow London clubs for the first time since April 2023.
Chelsea are unbeaten in their last nine Premier League London derbies (W5 D4) since a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal last March. The Blues last enjoyed a longer run of unbeaten matches against fellow London clubs from January 2013 to March 2014 (13).
Fulham are on a five-match unbeaten run (W3 D2), while Chelsea have won only one of their last eight Premier League (D5 L2).
Among central midfielders, only Bruno Guimaraes (seven) has scored more Premier League goals this season than Enzo Fernandez (six), who will aim to net in three successive games in the competition for the first time.
Player to WatchHarry WilsonWhile Enzo Fernandez, Joao Pedro, and Raul Jimenez were viable candidates for the section, we have picked Harry Wilson as the Player to Watch for Wednesday's Premier League clash between Fulham and Chelsea at Craven Cottage.
Since the start of November, only Erling Haaland (11) has more goal involvements in the Premier League than Wilson's nine (G5 A4). The Welsh international is in the form of his life, thus becoming "fixture proof" in the top flight. With such numbers to back his case, it is hardly surprising that he is a captaincy candidate in FPL heading into Gameweek 21.
PredictionFulham 2-2 ChelseaFulham's recent record in London derbies may not prompt optimism from fans in any other period. However, the Cottagers are among the most in-form teams in the Premier League, and they have not slowed down against more accomplished teams.
On the other hand, despite a spirited performance against Manchester City, Chelsea's output in the final third leaves much to be desired. Additionally, recent outings have exposed the Blues' soft underbelly during defensive phases. With Fulham also being vulnerable at the back, a closely contested affair is on the cards. The Hard Tackle predicts a 2-2 draw for Wednesday's clash at Craven Cottage.

Fulham expecting Manchester United approach for Marco Silva
Fulham are bracing themselves for an approach from Manchester United for their manager, Marco Silva's services.
Manchester United parted ways with Ruben Amorim on Monday following an explosive press conference by the Portuguese manager. The Red Devils are now on the lookout for a new boss, and they have been linked with Fulham's Marco Silva.
According to a report from The Sun, the Cottagers are aware of United's interest in his services, and they are expecting a move from the Manchester-based giants for the 48-year-old, whose contract runs out at the end of the season.
Silva took charge of Fulham back in 2021. He has managed them in over 200 games and has averaged over 1.5 points per game. The Portuguese manager has done wonders for them and has earned quite a reputation for his work in the Premier League.
Silva is yet to commit his future to Fulham
Thanks to his impressive work at the London club, multiple top clubs in the country have been keeping tabs on him. With his contract running out at the end of the season, quite a few clubs are interested in having him on their bench.
Meanwhile, Fulham have been working hard to secure his long-term future with a new deal. While he already has an offer on the table (a three-and-a-half-year-long contract) since November, he has yet to respond to it. With less than six months left on his deal, the Cottagers are seriously worried about his future.
United to make a move for Silva
While they were hoping he would at least see out the season, a lot has changed following United's decision to sack Amorim. The Red Devils are massive admirers of Silva and have had him on their wishlist for some time. They were interested in appointing him as their boss even before his compatriot took charge.
As a result, Fulham now expect United to make an approach for the 48-year-old. It will be interesting to see if that happens in the coming days or if they wait until the end of the season, when he will be free to choose a new club. For now, Silva is reluctant to talk about his future, and any decision will depend on Fulham's ambitions on and off the pitch going forward.

Fulham are unbeaten in five Premier League games since losing to Crystal Palace at the beginning of December (three wins, two draws).
They have won five of their last nine Premier League home games (one draw, three defeats), keeping a clean sheet in four of those. Those four clean sheets are already twice as many as they kept at Craven Cottage last season.
Harry Wilson has been involved in eight goals in his past eight Premier League games (four goals, four assists). He has 10 goal involvements overall this season, equalling his best-ever return in a single Premier League campaign, in 2023/24.
Fulham have drawn both of their last two Premier League games despite trailing each time.
The Cottagers have won 17 points from their 10 home games this season with wins against Leeds United, Brentford, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Sunderland and Nottingham Forest, plus draws with Manchester United and Liverpool. Arsenal, Manchester City and Crystal Palace have come away from the Cottage with maximum points.
Last week's draw at Palace was the first time since a 1-1 draw with Arsenal in December 2024 that a Premier League London derby involving Fulham finished in a stalemate, ending a run of 13 matches either won or lost in the process (six wins, seven defeats).
Fulham have lost four of their last six home Premier League London derbies (two wins), having gone seven unbeaten beforehand. They have not lost three in a row on home soil since April 2023.
With his strike at Selhurst Park, each of Tom Cairney's last three Premier League goals have come off the bench in London derbies. He also netted against Tottenham Hotspur in December 2024 and Brentford in May 2025.

Tricky Cole Palmer decision awaits as Chelsea consider rethink for Fulham clash
Cole Palmer played 90 minutes for the first time since September on Sunday evening, leaving Chelsea interim boss Calum McFarlane with a tough decision for the Fulham trip
Calum McFarlane has described Cole Palmer as "ready to go" ahead of this evening's Premier League fixture away at Fulham.
The 23-year-old completed 90 minutes for the first time since September on Sunday evening as Chelsea picked up a hard-fought point against his former club Manchester City. It was just the third time this season Palmer has played a full match, with the England international struggling with a persistent groin injury.
Palmer was in and out of the game at the Etihad Stadium but showed glimpses of his talent when moved more to the right-hand side in the second-half in Manchester. Less than 72 hours later, Chelsea make the much shorter trip to Fulham and there are question marks over whether Palmer can go again so shortly after a gruelling encounter.
McFarlane, who will take charge of his second and final match as Chelsea interim head coach this evening, confirmed that Palmer was assessed on Tuesday but said the England attacker was fine after completing the 90 minutes.
"Cole is in a good place," said McFarlane on Tuesday afternoon. "We had a recovery session yesterday. It's seeing how they show up today [Tuesday] and look and feel in training before we know the exact definitive answer to that, but Cole is ready to go."
Newly-appointed head coach Liam Rosenior is set to watch from the stands at Craven Cottage, with the 41-year-old expected to take charge of his first game on Saturday night away at Charlton Athletic. McFarlane believes it is an "exciting time" for the club with Rosenior, who was appointed as the new Chelsea head coach on Tuesday, inheriting a really talented squad of players from Enzo Maresca.
"Firstly, there is a lot of talent," McFarlane said. "There are a lot of really talented players. Everyone speaks about the age, but I think there's a lot of players in this group that can really go on to be the best players in their positions at their age, with a little bit of development.
"We've got a lot of top talent and good characters. You can't do what those lads have done this season, you can't do what those lads have done second half against Manchester City, with everything against them, if you don't have a certain type of character in the group. I think he's got great characters to work with — really easy characters to work with — and it will be the same for Liam. So a really exciting time."

Fulham make 'strong offer' for La Liga player – 24-year-old Catalan midfielder
Fulham can be an option for Real Betis' Sergi Altimira in the winter market, according to Wednesday's edition of AS.
The Catalan midfielder has played 1,261 minutes from 20 appearances so far this season. There's been a drop in his minutes since the end of September in the league. To put it in context, he's played less than 150 minutes since then.
This hasn't put off Fulham or other clubs from considering signing him in January.
AS state the midfielder's situation at Real Betis has sparked interest from Fulham and the Bundesliga sides. Eintracht Frankfurt and VfB Stuttgart were keen last summer, and both are still in the mix.
Marco Silva's side would have to challenge these two teams to secure the 24-year-old's services. They have reportedly made a 'strong offer', which will likely relate more to a firm approach then a bid on the table.
The Spaniard has a contract until 2029, but the newspaper insist the La Liga side are ready to sell him this month. The Andalusian club need at least €20m to part ways with their player.
Fulham have reasonable chance of success
Real Betis are prioritising signing a new striker and improving other positions depends on outgoings. Altimira's sale can help them in this regard.
Fulham or another club can capitalise on Real Betis' situation by offering €20m for Altimira.
Wolves and Manchester City were both credited with interest in the last January window. Everton then made an unsuccessful attempt in the summer.
On Tuesday, Messaggero Veneto reported Silva's side have offered €20m for Udinese midfielder Arthur Atta.

Garnacho: The fans deserve three points at Fulham
Alejandro Garnacho has called on the Blues to take victory at Fulham for the supporters and explained how his team-mates, especially Enzo Fernandez, have helped him make Chelsea his home over the last four months.
Garnacho joined Chelsea from Manchester United at the start of 2025/26 and has gotten straight into the thick of the action with the Blues, making 20 appearances during his first half a season in west London.
We have now passed the midway point in that campaign, with the second half of the season officially kicking off when we secured a 1-1 draw at Manchester City in our 20th Premier League fixture on Sunday.
Reflecting on his start to life with Chelsea, Garnacho explained how hard work, self-belief and the help of his team-mates, including fellow Argentinian and vice-captain Fernandez, are helping him get up to speed.
'I know the player I am and the player I can be so this is the most important thing,' he said. 'I'm working every day, really hard.
'I think with time, everything is going to be good, but now the thing is to work every day and try to do the best on the pitch for the team and win games for the team.
'People are helping me a lot. A lot of people speak Spanish here, so they help. I'm really happy to be part of this club and keep working and keep playing.
'I've said many times, with Enzo for me it's like having my big brother here! He's helping me a lot, in training, in games. When I'm at home, he texts me "how are you?".
'Obviously, I know him from the national team and during the summer [before the move] I spoke with him, also. I'm happy to have a player and a captain like him here. Really happy.'
In his first 20 games for Chelsea, Garnacho has contributed four goals and three assists. The 21-year-old hopes there are plenty more of both to come, but is prioritising the team's results, rather than individual achievements.
'The main focus is to win games. Sometimes you're going to score goals, assist your team-mates, but the important thing is to help.
'I know that I can score a lot of goals. I miss a lot of chances also, but this is normal. I'm still young, it's part of football. I think I have room to improve and, with time, I think I'm going to score a lot of goals.'
He will be hoping to do so under new Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior, who is scheduled to start work with the squad on Thursday, with Under-21s head coach Calum McFarlane remaining in the dugout for tonight's trip to neighbours Fulham.
Garnacho is hoping the Blues can repay our fans for their support during a difficult period by following up the hard-fought draw at Man City with a victory at Craven Cottage, even if he knows it will be another tough challenge.
The 21-year-old said: 'We know Fulham and we know away games in the Premier League are always hard, wherever they are. We will go there and we'll try to do our best. The fans deserve the three points after a difficult couple of weeks.
'I think we're going into the game with good momentum from Sunday. To take a point in a stadium like the Etihad, I think is one of the hardest ones. We'll go to Fulham and try to get the three points because it's what this club demands and we're going to try to do our best.'

"He has a big IQ" – Fulham star draws praise from Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle
Fulham head coach Marco Silva lamented when he had to part ways with all three of his Nigerian players for the AFCON 2025 tournament, Soccernet.ng reports.
However, the trio have been impactful for the three-time AFCON winners in Morocco, with Alex Iwobi in particular impressing the Super Eagles' head coach, Eric Chelle.
The former Arsenal midfielder created the two goals in Nigeria's opener against Tanzania, but even more spectacular is the cutting-edge passing the 29-year-old has put on display.
Against Mozambique, Iwobi didn't get any assists, but his knife-through-butter passes opened the doors for three of the four goals Nigeria scored.
Alex Iwobi – Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle lauds Fulham star
Following Nigeria's 4-0 victory at the Complexe de Fes, Eric Chelle, alongside Bright Osayi-Samuel, took their time out to praise the intelligence of the former Everton midfielder.
"You know, there are some players who can smell the danger on the football pitch. This guy has an IQ, a very big football IQ, ahead of the other players," the Franco-Malian tactician told Elegbete TV Sports.
"Technically, he's very good too. Since the AFCON started, we've seen that this guy is a very good player and he likes the team.
"The most important thing is that he does it game after game. We have to stay focused, Alex has to stay focused to continue to work, to want to be better than the last game, and that's the question
"I'm very proud of him, and the team as well," the 48-year-old concluded.
Nigeria will play Algeria at the Stade de Marrakech in the quarter-final of the AFCON 2025 tournament.

Tottenham could ABORT pre-agreed £26m transfer as Fulham prepare to pounce – Sources
Fulham would consider a move for Joao Palhinha if Tottenham do not take up their option to sign him.
There is not yet clarification on his situation but in recent weeks sources have become less convinced that Spurs trigger the option to take him on a permanent deal, which is worth €30m / £26m.
Palhinha, 30, has enjoyed being back in the Premier League – on loan from Bayern Munich – and is keen to remain in England.
As such, Fulham will keep an eye on the situation in case there is a possibility to lure him back to Craven Cottage in the summer.
Palhinha showed ambition when he left Fulham for the Bundesliga but his move did not go to plan and he is still not hitting the levels at Tottenham that he once showed in west London.
It is unclear at this stage how he would view the idea of going back to his old club, but if Marco Silva remains as boss it is something that could be progressed.
Silva has been in contract talks about extending his time at Fulham, with sources hinting that he is expected to stay and is close to an agreement.
He has been linked with the Manchester United job in the past 48 hours but that is not a likely outcome, as it stands.
Spurs boss Thomas Frank was very much behind the move to sign Palhinha on loan last summer for Spurs but the Portuguese midfielder has not hit his best levels.
Palhinha was a regular starter in the first part of the season but since December, has largely been utilised off the bench.
Thomas Frank future could be key for Palhinha
It is also felt Frank's situation will have a bearing on whether the midfielder stays.
Frank is safe in his job for now but, if results do not improve and he was to leave this season, it is very likely that would spell the end of Palhinha's own time at the club.
Palhinha is contracted to Bayern until 2028 and if he does not join Spurs then the German club will have to decide whether to loan him out again.
It is considered unlikely that he can work his way back into Bayern's plans.
Latest Tottenham & Fulham news – New signing this week / Raheem Sterling...
In other news, Tottenham are ramping up their efforts to sign a new midfielder THIS WEEK, with manager Thomas Frank identifying a high-energy, driving maestro as the priority signing to inject vitality and legs into the heart of his team.
Elsewhere, Fulham have held exploratory talks over the signing of Chelsea outcast Raheem Sterling, though are keen to move a struggling winger out first.

Obscure Premier League Rule Which Saved Liverpool Is Officially Challenged
Fulham's Marco Silva was furious when Florian Wirtz's goal was allowed to stand.
Fulham manager Marco Silva revealed that the Cottagers have contacted the Premier League's governing body of referees to complain about Florian Wirtz's goal which was controversially allowed to stand this weekend.
Wirtz was flagged for offside after sweeping Liverpool level at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon. The German playmaker was so confident he had strayed beyond the last defender that there was no joy to have cut short. "I was sure it was offside so I didn't even celebrate," he shrugged.
Silva was similarly convinced. However, a lengthy VAR check deemed that Wirtz was in fact onside, prompting Silva's shock to soon evolve into fury. It took a last-minute screamer from Harrison Reed to secure a 2–2 draw for the hosts and avoid what his manager deemed to be a "completely unfair" result.
Ahead of Fulham's west London derby with Chelsea on Wednesday evening, Silva revealed that the club have opened up an official dialogue with the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), the organisation in charge of the top-flight's referees.
The immediate explanation behind the controversial decision to award Wirtz's goal has not satisfied the Fulham boss.
Why Florian Wirtz's 'Clearly Offside' Goal Was Allowed to Stand
Silva wrote Wirtz's goal off as "clearly offside," yet it didn't meet the Premier League's little-known threshold.
From the 2021–22 season onwards, the PGMOL loosened the strict nature of offside decisions. "The toenails and noses that might have been offside last year won't be next season," former referees' chief Mike Riley explained at the time.
When determining offside decisions, the same pixel-wide lines are drawn before "the thicker broadcast lines" are applied. When these overlap, the attacker is given the benefit of the doubt. This effectively ensures that players can stray five centimetres (marginally less than two inches) beyond the last defender but still be dubbed onside by virtue of the margin of error.
Even with the introduction of semi-automated offside technology, that tolerance still exists.
"I don't have a way to measure, but in my opinion it is much more than five centimetres," Silva fumed. "When you see the moment of the pass in all the images, the player was clear offside."
Silva's confusion is understandable. BBC Sport report that there are three frames of the match footage which show Conor Bradley releasing the pass for Wirtz to score. The frame which VAR chose to analyse was one ahead of the imagery produced by the TV broadcaster, ensuring that Liverpool's No. 7 looked further behind Fulham's backline—or "more offside"—for the public than the referees.
Marco Silva Furious With PGMOL
Silva's fury wasn't simply limited to the referee's decision against Liverpool. He was similarly annoyed about a lack of a response. "The club is trying to get in contact [with PGMOL]—until now we didn't have any feedback," the Portuguese boss seethed.
"We are still waiting for some feedback from the Premier League, from PGMOL, because it is very important for us. We didn't have the one to make us understand why and not have the same opinion.
"Not just me... me, my staff, our football club, all the other players, fans. I think if you go to ask all Premier League [teams, each club] is going to have the same opinion. All the people that love football will have the same opinion as myself."

Newcastle United rule out Raheem Sterling move
Newcastle United will not pursue 31-year-old Chelsea outcast Raheem Sterling in the winter transfer window, thus boosting the prospects of Fulham and West Ham United.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Raheem Sterling is not the subject of interest from Newcastle United. Recent updates linked the Chelsea outcast with the Tyneside outfit, but they have ruled out a January move. The development boosts the prospects of Fulham and West Ham United. Meanwhile, the veteran English attacker "is in no hurry to finalise a move away from Chelsea" in the winter transfer window.
Raheem Sterling and his situation
Raheem Sterling has reached a desperate situation after being on the periphery at Chelsea in the first half of the 2025/26 season. The Englishman has steadily seen his stock plummet since joining Chelsea from Manchester City in a deal worth £50 million in July 2022. Things have gone from bad to worse in the last 18 months, as after becoming a part of the "bomb squad" before the 2024/25 season, the 30-year-old endured a disastrous campaign with Arsenal.
The English attacker has not managed a single minute in the 2025/26 season, and he has no future at Chelsea. However, Sterling's stock remains high, as several Premier League clubs have shown interest in him. Fulham and West Ham United are also keen on rescuing him from his Chelsea situation in the winter transfer window.
What next?
Recent reports suggested that Newcastle United had taken pole position in the battle for Sterling's signature. However, the Magpies have ruled out a January move, as they "are not in talks for Sterling and have not made an approach" for a deal in the winter transfer window. That makes sense, as Eddie Howe has a stacked offensive unit and does not need a new attacker.
Meanwhile, Fulham's interest in Raheem Sterling is understandable. The Cottagers are scouring the market for a wide attacker this summer amid uncertainties surrounding Adama Traore's long-term future. So, Sterling is a viable target, with Fulham ready to secure the 31-year-old Englishman's services once Traore departs from Craven Cottage.
As for West Ham United, Nuno Espirito Santo wants more firepower in the final third as he looks to mastermind avoiding relegation from the Premier League in the second half of the 2025/26 season. While Pablo and Valentin Castellanos have joined West Ham, the Hammers need more quality on the flanks. So, Sterling is an option worth considering for the East London outfit.
However, West Ham would prefer a loan move, while Sterling wants a permanent exit to end his Chelsea nightmare. Meanwhile, despite his desperate situation, the veteran English attacker "is in no hurry to finalise a move away from Chelsea" in the winter transfer window. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for him.

Fulham need €45m before club will even talk – Summer looking likelier
PSV Eindhoven are only likely to discuss a deal for Ricardo Pepi at around €45m, after Fulham's recent efforts.
That's according to journalist Mounir Boualin on the Soccer News Podcast Transfermind. He says Fulham will likely have to wait until the summer to get anywhere near a deal for Pepi.
Marco Silva's side have been admirers of Pepi for some time. They were keen on him in the summer transfer window also.
Fulham submitted a €30m+ bid for Ricardo Pepi this month, but PSV Eindhoven quickly rejected it.
They're not interested in selling the striker at this point. Their technical director Ernest Stewart even went public and stated that the €30m+ offer wasn't interesting for them. That was then followed up be a separate report insisting PSV didn't' want to sell until the summer and were looking to secure a World Cup bonus from the striker.
In simple terms, Fulham's efforts to sign Pepi appear to be fruitless, and Boualin certainly seems to think so as well.
"I think PSV will only be open to talks if the offer is at least €45m," he said.
"And even then, it's questionable whether PSV will agree to that. The club would prefer Pepi to stay in Eindhoven at least until the summer.
"To be honest, he's not at all the Pepi we know from last season right now. Although his statistics have been good in recent matches, I don't think he's playing well at all. If he regains his form and proves himself at the World Cup, he'll be of interest to several foreign clubs in the summer.
"I think there will always be clubs offering the same amount in the summer; it can only be higher. To sell him for around €30m doesn't seem smart to me."

Fulham preparing to pounce to sign "incredible" £26m star who Silva knows well
Fulham are now preparing a move to hijack a permanent deal for an "incredible" Premier League midfielder who Marco Silva already knows well.
Cottagers in good form heading into Chelsea derby
The Cottagers are now up to 11th in the Premier League table, extending their unbeaten run to five games after Harrison Reed fired home a spectacular late equaliser to earn a 2-2 draw against Liverpool last time out.
The Cottagers are now up to 11th in the Premier League table, extending their unbeaten run to five games after Harrison Reed fired home a spectacular late equaliser to earn a 2-2 draw against Liverpool last time out.
Performances have been much-improved as of late, but Fulham remain keen on strengthening their squad this month, and they recently made an approach to sign Real Betis midfielder Sergi Altimira.
However, according to a report from TEAMtalk, the Cottagers are also eyeing up a midfielder from much closer to home, with it being revealed they are preparing to pounce to sign Joao Palhinha, who is currently on loan at Tottenham Hotspur from Bayern Munich.
Tottenham have the option to make the midfielder's stay permanent for £26m, but there is a feeling they could now abort the deal, which could open the door for a return to Craven Cottage.
Should Spurs choose not to snap up the Portuguese maestro, Fulham would consider a move, and if he is able to replicate his previous exploits at the club, he could be a fantastic addition...
Palhinha could be "incredible" signing for Fulham
Silva knows the central midfielder well, having previously worked together at Craven Cottage, during which time he put in some top-quality performances, particularly impressing with his tackling ability.
The 30-year-old, who has been praised for his "incredible work rate and exceptional tackling", has continued to catch the eye from a defensive point of view across spells with Bayern and Spurs over the past year, while also displaying a keen eye for goal, when compared to other midfielders.
As such, it would perhaps be a little unusual if Tottenham chose not to take up the option to sign Palhinha permanently, but their loss could be Fulham's gain.

New role at Shamrock Rovers for former Fulham and Ireland U21 defender
Seán Kavanagh hangs up his boots at the age of 31 after a career that saw him play in the Championship, League Two and the League of Ireland.
Seán Kavanagh admits that injuries played a key role in his decision to hang up his boots at the age of 31 and move into coaching.
Kavanagh has been added to Stephen Bradley's first-team coaching staff at Shamrock Rovers ahead of the 2026 campaign.
The former Fulham and Ireland Under-21 defender arrived at Tallaght Stadium in 2018 and won five Premier Division titles and an FAI Cup.
According to Hoops boss Stephen Bradley, Kavanagh had long been earmarked for a coaching role.
"It's something we have spoken about with Seán for a long period of time," Bradley said.
"I felt for some time that this was the road Seán would go down. He has a brilliant football brain and has a really clear identity in how he wants to see the game.
"Seán has a very good opinion on the game and has always brought that to the dressing room and when we had our team meetings.
"So, he was always one who stood out as someone who would be a coach."
Stephen McPhail's decision to step away from the director of football role at Rovers helped speed up the transition.
"When we had a change in the last few weeks and when we had the conversation with Seán, I'm sure it wasn't an easy one for him as he was still a player," said Bradley.
"So I think Seán has made the right decision and it's a brilliant one for us, as he'll add so much to our staff room.
"He's also only stopped playing so he knows the dressing room. He's also one of the ones who's helped build the success that we've had.
"Seán has been a vital part of it on and off the pitch. So we're absolutely delighted he has taken up the role."
Kavanagh has struggled for game-time in recent years through injury.
"I've always watched the game and thought that I could coach at some stage," he said.
"But with not having played as many games as I would've liked over the last few years, it possibly was a factor in that. But I was given the opportunity to coach and I decided to go for it.
"The biggest thing for me is learning how Stephen and Glenn do it and learning new skills. I will learn more about myself off the pitch as well.
"I always knew where I was on the pitch, but now I'm going to be outside of the playing side. So I'm looking to learn and upskill with the coaching, so I'm really looking forward to it."

Duo return to Fulham
Both Devan Tanton and Matt Dibley-Dias have returned to Fulham after being recalled by their parent club.
Tanton signed for Chesterfield in the summer for a second spell, having also spent the first half of the 2024/25 season with the Spireites. He turned out 18 times this campaign, bringing his overall total of Chesterfield appearances to 33.
Dibley-Dias was also a summer arrival and featured five times for Paul Cook's side before suffering an injury in the 2-2 draw with Crawley Town.
We would like to place on record our thanks to the duo for their contributions whilst in North Derbyshire and wish them all the best for the future.

Why isn't Liam Rosenior managing Chelsea against Fulham? When new boss will take charge
Chelsea named Liam Rosenior as the club's new head coach ahead of their Premier League clash with Fulham
Chelsea have appointed Liam Rosenior as head coach, but he will not be in charge of the team's next game against Fulham. The Blues are set to take on their west London rivals at Craven Cottage on Wednesday night.
The 41-year-old's move from Strasbourg was confirmed on Tuesday, signing a six-and-a-half-year deal. Rosenior arrived at the club's Cobham training ground to finalise his contract but is not set to take charge of the team until after the Fulham game.
It has been a whirlwind week for Chelsea, who announced that Enzo Maresca had stepped down as head coach on New Year's Day. The club's U21 coach Calum McFarlane has since overseen the first team and helped guide Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at Manchester City on Sunday.
Although he will not be in the Chelsea dugout, Rosenior is set to be in attendance to watch his new side take on Fulham, where he spent almost four years as a player. The English coach is expected to take his first training session on Thursday ahead of the team's FA Cup clash away at Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
The club opted to name Rosenior as Maresca's successor following his impressive work in France. The new Chelsea boss led Strasbourg, who are also owned by BlueCo, to seventh in Ligue 1 last season.
Strasbourg currently occupy the same spot in the table and topped the Europa Conference League standings during the league phase. During his time at the club, Rosenior also worked with several players who have Chelsea connections, including Ben Chilwell, Kendry Paez and Mamadou Sarr.
Upon being named Chelsea head coach, Rosenior said: "To be entrusted with this role means the world to me and I want to thank all involved for the opportunity and faith in undertaking this job. I will give everything to bring the success this club deserves."
He added: "I am excited to work with this extremely talented group of players and staff, to build strong connections on and off the pitch and to create an environment where everyone feels united and driven by the same goal.
"There is a real hunger to win, and I will give everything, every single day, to help this team compete and win at the very highest level to make everyone connected and proud to be a part of Chelsea Football Club."
However, Chelsea's immediate focus will be on earning three points against Fulham. A recent poor run of form has seen the club drop out of the top four, sitting three points behind Liverpool and level with Manchester United.
Ahead of the Fulham game, McFarlane explained that Robert Sanchez, Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella had returned to training. The Blues will also welcome Moises Caicedo back from suspension at Craven Cottage.

Marco Silva wishes to replicate 'incredible' environment at Craven Cottage
The Fulham head coach sees the supporters as a key factor on derby day.
Marco Silvashared his thoughts about the West London rivalry between Fulham and Chelsea.
The Blues beat his men 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in controversial circumstances at the end of August, having also defeated them 2-1 at Craven Cottage with a last gasp winner from Pedro Neto. The team's performances have not been rewarded in previous derbies: will this occasion be different?
"We need [the fans], we need their help. They know, they know it's important, they understand that.
"We are going to play at home, and we need them behind us.
"We felt during some moments of the Liverpool game, more second half that was more difficult for us, more after that goal when they equalised, the fans were behind the team. They pushed us in the last minutes of the game when we were trying to win the game, before the 2-1, they pushed us.
"We look for last season, how we won away, how we lost at home, both games with late goals. It really hurt ourselves, our fans, this football club, the way we were not able to win the game at Stamford Bridge [this season].
"The way the team performed almost perfectly first half, in a really tough game against a top, top side, the way the team performed, and everything that happened in that game, really hurt this football club.
"It's another opportunity for us to enjoy, to embrace a big challenge with our fans to play a derby like a derby should be played. Simple as that. It's a new game, new story. I don't want anyone to think about the past, we have to look for the future, and what's going to be most important is the next one."

Fulham vs Middlesbrough - TV details, FA Cup replay rules and fourth-round draw
Everything you need to know about Middlesbrough's trip to Fulham and the FA Cup
Middlesbrough travel to Fulham this weekend as their FA Cup participation this season begins.
After exiting at this third-round stage in the last three seasons, Boro will be hoping to cause at Craven Cottage this weekend, with this boss Kim Hellberg's first taste of the famous cup competition.
However, Boro are dealing with an injury crisis heading into the game. That, coupled with their positive league position means it will be interesting to see what approach Boro take in the game, and how many, if any, changes they make to their line up.
In terms of the game itself, and the details for the FA Cup fourth-round draw should Boro make it into the pot, we take you through everything you need to know below.
When is kick-off?
Boro will kick-off against Fulham at 3 pm on Saturday, January 10 at Craven Cottage. Interestingly, it's Boro's only away 3 pm Saturday kick-off this calendar year until the trip to QPR on March 7 - though broadcasters are yet to make their picks for that weekend, so even that might end up being rescheduled!
Where can I watch?
Unfortunately, the game was not selected by domestic or international broadcasters and therefore is not being broadcast live. BBC Radio Tees will have full-match live commentary as usual, and Teesside Live will also be at Craven Cottage providing our usual live match-day coverage.
Could there be a replay?
No. The FA scrapped replays back in 2024. Previously, if games ended in a draw they would be replayed at a later date at the home of the away team. However, all ties are now decided on the day. If, after 90 minutes, the scores are still level, we go to extra time and then penalties.
How much money will Boro receive?
The winner of the match will receive £121,500 from the FA Cup prize fund. Even if Boro lose, they are guaranteed to receive £26,500.
When is the FA Cup fourth-round draw?
The draw will take place on Monday, January 12, ahead of the final third-round game between Liverpool and Barnsley at Anfield. No official time has yet been published, but around 7pm is likely. The game is being shown live on TNT Sports and the Discovery+ app, with the draw to take place before kick-off. The third-round draw was streamed live on Youtube too.
When are fourth-round games played?
The fourth round of the FA Cup will take place over the weekend of Saturday, February 14, with matches again likely to cover the four days from Friday, February 13 to Monday, February 16.
Will any league games be impacted if Boro make it through?
Yes. Boro are due to travel to Coventry City on Monday, February 16. If Boro beat Fulham and/or Coventry make it through to round four against Stoke City, then the Championship clash between the current top two will have to be rescheduled.

Why Liam Rosenior isn't taking charge of Chelsea vs Fulham and first game he'll manage
Liam Rosenior was named Chelsea's new head coach ahead of their Premier League clash with Fulham
Chelsea have confirmed Liam Rosenior as their new head coach, but he will not be in the dugout for the club's next game. The Blues are preparing to face Fulham at Craven Cottage on Wednesday evening.
The 41-year-old's switch from Strasbourg was announced on Tuesday, with the manager penning a six-and-a-half-year contract. Rosenior made his way to the club's Cobham training ground to complete the move, but he will not take control of the team until after the Fulham game.
It's been a hectic period for Chelsea, who revealed that Enzo Maresca had left his head coach position on New Year's Day. The club's U21 manager Calum McFarlane has subsequently taken temporary charge of the senior side and steered Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at Manchester City on Sunday.
During his pre-match media briefing on Tuesday, McFarlane revealed when Rosenior would start his new job: "I spoke to Liam briefly last night and he's really excited to take the role. It was a brief conversation and I understand he will be at Cobham later today [Tuesday], so I'm sure I will catch up with him more on that.
"I've been told I am leading the game tomorrow, and we will try to do the best job, as we have done, and give him the three points to take and then build on."
While he will not be in the Chelsea technical area, Rosenior is expected to be in attendance when his new team face Fulham, a club where he spent nearly four years as a player. The English manager is set to oversee his first training session on Thursday before the team's FA Cup fixture at Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
The club chose to appoint Rosenior as Maresca's replacement following his work in France. The incoming Chelsea manager guided Strasbourg, who are also under BlueCo ownership, to seventh place in Ligue 1 last term.
Strasbourg currently sit in the same position in the league table and finished top of the Europa Conference League group stage standings. Throughout his time at the French club, Rosenior worked with several players who have links to Chelsea, including Ben Chilwell, Kendry Paez and Mamadou Sarr.
Following his appointment as Chelsea head coach, Rosenior said: "To be entrusted with this role means the world to me and I want to thank all involved for the opportunity and faith in undertaking this job. I will give everything to bring the success this club deserves."
He continued: "I am excited to work with this extremely talented group of players and staff, to build strong connections on and off the pitch and to create an environment where everyone feels united and driven by the same goal.
"There is a real hunger to win, and I will give everything, every single day, to help this team compete and win at the very highest level to make everyone connected and proud to be a part of Chelsea Football Club."
Meanwhile, Chelsea's immediate priority will be securing a win against Fulham. A disappointing spell has seen the club slip out of the top four, now trailing Liverpool by three points and drawing level with Manchester United.
Before the Fulham clash, McFarlane confirmed that Robert Sanchez, Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella had all returned to training. The Blues will also have Moises Caicedo available again following his suspension when they visit Craven Cottage.
