Title: Does anyone know for sure is Okaka or Shorey are cup tied for tonight?
Post by: simplyfulham on February 18, 2010, 11:13:22 AM

And no guessing please!

If Shorey played in the qualifier where Villa were knocked out does that cup tie him?

And I'm sure I read/heard/dreamed that there was a rule in european cups that meant players were 'reset' at January meaning even if Okaka played for Roma in the first part of the competition he can play for us in the second part. It's part of the whole registering your squad again for the knockout phase I think.

Can anyone confirm or deny?

Here's a link to our current Europa league squad:

if Greening gets another yellow he will miss the away leg.

Yep, they're both cup-tied as a result of the following rules:

18.17 For all matches from the start of the round of 32, a club may register a
maximum of three new eligible players for the remaining matches in the
current competition. Such registration must be completed by 1 February
2010 at the latest. This deadline cannot be extended.
18.18 One player from the above quota of three who has played UEFA club
competition matches for another competing club in the current season may
exceptionally be registered provided that the player has not been fielded:
Furthermore, if the player's new club is playing in the UEFA Europa League,
his former club must not have played in the UEFA Europa League at any
        point in the current season

As I understand it, Elm is our 1 player who we could register despite him playing in UEFA competitions this season.  He turned out for Kalmar in the CL 2nd qualifying round.

Elm works out because he played in the Champions League, not the Europa League.
