Pleased for him.

I know he has his critics, but over 3 seasons with us he's averaged a goal or assist every 181 minutes of play (ie a goal or assist every other game).

He's been an absolute bargain for £5.5m.

To remain injury-free at his age the entirety that Muniz was sidelined was quite remarkable and invaluable to where we are in the league.

He scored the only goal in three 1-0 victories whilst Muniz was out; West Ham, Sunderland and Forest

I am one of his critics but I still think he has been huge for us, in terms of availability, leadership, commitment to the cause, penalty finesse, staying focused even when not playing at his best so that he can pop up with a winner. I think that last point is often overlooked. It's easy to lose confidence mid game but he never seems to, and when some fans get on his case (myself included) he has a knack of proving us wrong.

Edit: I'm obviously talking about H4. Raul is useless  ::wink::

I would give him the one year extension in a heartbeat

I doubt whether he'd stay if he's third choice behind Muniz and Pepi/another...if he is OK with that, and accepts a the salary loss that goes with it, then I'd definitely be in favour....just can't see it happening though

Raul is a class act and generally gives 100%. Very skillful too, that back heel assist will be long remembered.
Bloke should definitely have another year of he can be convinced to stay. 👍

As Twig said Raul has been an absolute warrior.
A bit similar to Mcbride, but with possibly a bit more skill and more mobility.
If he moves on in the summer I doubt that Muniz, Pepi or an other will fill his boots.
