Nope, they are trained to jump. Their natural behaviour is to run around obstacles and punishment is 100% part of their Pavlovian training. It is the effect of that you are seeing when they continue to jump.
HORSEMEAT?  I have eaten it once, in Amsterdam. The dutch lads I was with did not tell me until afterwards. It was delicious.
However, I did not eat it again, for obvious reasons.
I'm assuming nobody has a horse that they think is worth a shout.... I haven't even looked at the runner's & riders yet
