Fulham simply couldn't get going today. Berge was unimpressive, and for the life of me, I can't understand why he didn't shoot when he had the chance.  Lukic added energy when he came on and probably deserved to start. Robinson was decent but not at his best.  I really would have preferred the team Fulham finished the game with to have started. 



Unless Marco produces something extraordinary, it's unlikely Fulham will finish much higher than their current position.

Man of the match has to be the coach driver who got them to the stadium, he carried the team

Silva picked the wrong starting line up again.
Raul should have started for one.

Disappointing but not surprising. 
Everyone looked flat like they'd just had three weeks off.
I went for Lukic as our most effective player.

MotM Bassey - kept going, best of a not very good bunch today.  Overall a very poor performance.  No drive or real guts in midfield.  L'pool's left winger Rio was superb,  Castagne had a really tough time aginst him.  Salah v Robinson was a no contest, largely because Robinson is currently far from the player we have seen in the past.  We'll need a serious change of approach for Brentford next week if we are to stand any chance.  Without being reckless we need to ATTACK teams.

The most unconfident Liverpool team in years in-between massive European matches. Only we could have lost that! Fulhamish! Yeah I said it!

Not sure anyone deserved the MOTM.

Anything other than a win vs Brentford and that's the season over.

Poor first half. Better second half but game was over by then. A couple of chances. Best one for ESR, and also the Muniz header. Otherwise not much to shout about. Hard to call a MoM. I gave it to Iwobi for effort but nobody stood out really.

Has Marco been doing dancing lessons at fulham,slow,slow,quick and quickly slower.What have we learned today well,munis needs a new career,wilson played like we know he can very average and the recruitment team including the coach should do a lap of honour so we can throw rotten fruit at them.

Can't agree that Robinson was decent, I think he is hopelessly out of form and was poor again today.
Tough to choose a MoM the subs improved things so maybe Lukic?

Bassey. Looked solid all game. Wrong team selected by Silva and not saying that in hindsight. I just couldn't understand how Bobb and King could start given their recent performances.

Sander Berge. A steady, positive influence in the middle.

As others have said, poor team selection by Silva.

Its becoming so obvious that the team is not good enough to challenge Europe over 38 games. Too weak up top, plus so many passengers now in the first 11.

Big overhaul needed to compete with teams for 6-10

People say poor selection from MS but there really is not much to choose from

We are not competitive. Pick enough points up to survive but that's about it.

King & Bobb look undersized & lightweight for the PL. Technically good but unable to impose themselves.

However, our bigger players get knocked off the ball easily too. We are a soft touch & must be nice to play against.

Recruitment team need to look at physicality of future players. They must be bigger, stronger & faster.

I now realise that the last 3-weeks were rather pleasant not having to watch this. Not looking forward to next week at Brentford.

Long journey home on coach & for that. Performance, Groundhog Day. Seen it so many times this season.

Not a good performance. Better in the 2nd half but the game was largely over by half time. I thought Andersen had a solid game coping with the after effects of Robinson, and to a lesser extent Castagne, having poor ones.

Tough match, tough wingers to play against. I'm not going to say we were that bad, we just couldn't find the final ball. Our lack of crossing quality was exposed until Sessegnon came on and delivered some good ones. I don't understand how we can constantly over-hit so many crosses. I'd much rather we just take shots far post at this point. It'd be less wasteful than crossing the ball to the opposite side of the pitch.

MOTM, hard to say. I think Iwobi was involved a lot and did well in his usual LM role. Berge was left alone because Iwobi had to play further up, so he managed Liverpool's central midfield pretty well all things considered. Lukic did well and shows how we've missed that Lukic-Berge combo in the second half. ESR made a difference too where he actually could progress the ball in the 10 that King wasn't able to. Chuk needs more sample size, more playing time, his touches are a bit rusty - but that's all - just needs more minutes.

I'm going to give it to Berge. Didn't put a foot wrong, made interceptions and tackles, had a shot that was blocked. Having to be on his own against an overpowered midfield as well. Why not.

If you think bobb and king are lightweight your find 2/3rds of 21s and 18s are the same whether it's so the players can't look down at the staff or we only want little boy lost ask bobb he would know I wonder who recommended him must be a Brentford spy or could be our defensive Norwegian linchpin 6ft6in can't head the ball or shoot.

Dr Fulham turned up for Liverpool. Silva setting up the team to help them out, poor from the off, game was won and team were beaten by half time. Really disappointing and standard from our side every season from match 30 onwards. Huge lack of winning attitude and bottle

That performance was incredibly underwhelming and it makes the guff we get from the manager and players about being up for Europe so cringeworthy. I'm not sure what we did in the last 3 weeks to prep for that game but whatever it was fell miles short. Silva seems to not know his best XI, nor what tactics he wants to employ for some of these games and it feels like we're on the cusp of a death march to another Silva season ending where it's all so anticlimactic. I'm not sure what the club & Silva are doing but this really isn't helping both parties, his stock is going down by the day compared to Iraola & Glasner

Lukic looked like the only one who gave a flying fig this evening.

The rest of them look like they're on the beach dreaming of holiday time.

I think the players know if Silva is staying, and I think this is affecting them big time.

Poor choice in the middle, as I thought when the team were announced. Iwobi is an excellent player, but when he plays in his actual position, as he showed in the second half today. When we play him in the middle (Sunderland at home, plus parts of the Sunderland away game, first half against Spurs away and parts of Spurs at home aside), our midfield looks terrible defensively. His superior forward passing compared to Berge and Lukic doesn't make up for his poor positional awareness, lack of aerial ability or just defending in general. Berge-Lukic should have been the pivot, and the second half only solidified that for me.

Both of our fullbacks had poor games. Castagne was beaten by his man time and time again. Robinson was beaten for pace multiple times, which is unlike him and he kept giving the ball away in dangerous positions.

Andersen was pretty decent. Bassey made a couple of "lazy" passes that ended up causing us some trouble, but was decent overall.

I thought Leno was okay.

Muniz seemed like he lacks confidence, but tbf to him he was feeding off scraps. He actually set up Bobb well in the first half, to his credit. Wilson had some decent moments, like the good effort he had in the first half. Bobb was poor. King had a few bright moments but was largely ineffective.

Lukic was good when he came on, as was Sess. ESR was okay. Raul didn't get any real chances to score but had some nice moments. Chukwueze needed to pick a simpler option a few times he had a chance to go one on one with their defenders. It seemed like he overcomplicated things.

Huge match next week. I hope Marco picks the right 11 and we deliver a good performance and get a win. It's not a must win game, but if we lose, I don't think we'll get Europe. Draw keeps us in it, and a win would be a really good step in the right direction.

It felt like Liverpool's second eleven against Fulham 's under 16s, we were so lightweight in most departments. I thought Andersen had a good game but what the heck has happened to Robinson, he was shocking?
Marco always says that we prepare well and this is an important game, our performances lately don't really back that up!

Our managers reaction to today's result........

"In my opinion it was decided in that first half, where our approach was not aggressive enough, on and off the ball.

"We gave Liverpool the chance to build up their attack too easily in some moments, not with the right aggressiveness off the ball. That was the reason why they had the chances and they were in command of the game most of the time during the first half.

My thoughts exactly and it's not the first time this season he's said this kind of thing.
So if the manager can see it why has it gone on all season?

Agree entirely. Can't wait for the season to be over. I checked out a couple of weeks ago on our losing run when our players and manager checked out for the summer.
Watching our games has been pretty boring and uninspiring for a while, think this game was the last I'll bother with for the rest of the season

Agreed. Especially as he missed the game staying in the coach to keep an eye on his wheels.

I think the idea of playing Bobb, Muniz, and King all together at the same time away at Liverpool when they're either out of form or a little green was the biggest mistake.

On reflection we needed the Lukic/Berge midfield with Iwobi on the left and Wilson on the right, Jiminez upfront.

We are greatly missing Kevin.

Not sure how anyone can say we're checked out though, we had 19 shots for crying out loud. If we reduced our tendency to try to walk it in, and cross-shoot instead, we could double that number and hopefully get our scoring ratio working.

Very frustrating today.
I didn't feel there was too much between us and them, though they dominated  from the start  until we got going, but we kept them out, apart from two worldies, and then we  matched them the rest of the game, and probably created more chances, but just couldn't get the ball in the net.

I thought a draw would have been a fair result in a poor game.

I thought the lads put in a good effort, not looking as if they weren't bothered at all imo, but maybe Raul should have started instead of Muniz, and we looked more  dangerous with the subs, but frustratingly, didn't manage to score the goals our attacking play deserved.
 
They often looked vulnerable  defensively, but  our crossing was often poor, and we missed some great chances. I don't think the result was a fair reflection of the game, they were a bit lucky to get  the win , I feel.

Liverpool stopped playing in the second half as they've already won so obviously that gives us more chances

Brentford have aggressive fast moving players who dynamically attack

I fear we are due a pasting this time for all the ones we're have got away with against them in recent years

Very true I'm afraid. We spent the day egg chasing in Twickenham & didn't even bother checking the score having seen the starting eleven.

A very flat first half. Deck chair anyone? An improvement second half but Liverpool didn't have to be very good, and they weren't. Berg, Bassey and Lukic showed and Sess should have been brought on much earlier. Berg MOTM for me.   

Dross, the game brightened up thanks to the ladies sat at my table.

Honestly not sure who to vote for. The first half in particular was rubbish. Maybe ESR, who I think should be one of the first names on the team sheet?

Didn't see the game & wont be watching the highlights. How did Harry play, Sky seem keen for him to move to a Champions League team?

Very disappointing result.  I really felt FFC should have gotten something out of this game.  Yes, very poor first half.  However, I thought the team played much better in 2nd half, and had we pulled one back in the half, I think it would have put quite a bit of pressure on the home team and we might have been able to ramble on further.  ESR and Muniz had decent chances to get us back in game.  Player performances:
Berge - Thought he had some good moments, why he refuses to take a shot still baffles, though he did have a go near the end of game which was blocked.
Iwobi - One of my favorite players last season.  Not so much this term.  Taken off the ball too easily and wayward passes abound.  A little better in this game compared to recent, but still underwhelming.
Leno - Yes, I know a terrific shot by Rio, but still felt he could have done better (along with Castagne).  When you play a top club you want your keeper to have a blinder, and our keeper just can't come up with that great save.  Won't blame him on the Salah tally, that's a shot Salah has been scoring on his entire career.  Sadly, he was left wide open in a dangerous spot.
Rest of team - Mostly mediocre if not poor.  Could not and will not select a motm. 

The only thing that will give me joy this weekend is a Spurs loss today.  Hopefully Sunderland can hang on to their lead at the end.  I know Sunderland leapfrogs FFC, but I relish Spurs going down this season.....

I just can't see any premier league club with a chairman who watches most games and is a fan would be keen to employ silva if he sanctioned bobb transfer and picking king and munis in the same team if Millwall get promoted they will have a field day with those little lost soles and we can add the Belgian right back we will get relegated next year if we allow our management team and recruitment keep buying uninspired players let's have a whip round for the Bournemouth manager he preaches ability and fighting Attributes

They way we are playing well will be relegation cansmdidates for sure, along woth those coming up
