Title: Bobb
Post by: perry geyton on April 18, 2026, 05:21:38 PM
What exactly is his role in this team ?

He came on today and was completely non existent, to be fair the whole team was non non existent other then Leno and TC who put in a shift considering how drab we were

30 million pounds worth ? We all wanted him so know one can really complain or was it just hype cos we got him from Man City ?

Hoping he improves, he better improve

Don't start on him he is not the only one who deserves criticism. It is not as though he has come into a team which is playing well.

Lot of money spent on a player City didn't want to keep.
Same with Smith Rowe.

Just like ESR and to a point Kevin, these 3 big signings have been disappointing so far.

Our most expensive players have generally proved poor value and cheaper players excellent value. Leno, Tete, Muniz, Raul, William, Robinson, Lukic and Sess cost combined about the same as one Anderson, Berge, Bobb, Kevin and ESR. We need to focus again on unearthing good quality players at bargain prices and not just spend on marquee signings unless they're absolutely guaranteed to add something special to the team. The expensive players in my list haven't performed better than the cheap list and I'd argue that they've often not been as effective. Copy Brighton, Brentford and Bournemouth.

Brentford spent 41 million on Dango Ouattara last summer and 35 on Tiago the summer before. Bournemouth spent 37 million on Evanilson and 35 on Diakite. Brighton spent 46.7 mill on Georginio Rutter and 35 each on Minteh and Kostoulas.

Bobb has been with the club for two months and Kevin less than 6 and is injured, give them a chance. I think ESR has generally been very good and value for money when compared to other signings in that price range. Sure it would be great to uncover gems for 2 million every transfer window but it's easier said than done.

It's obviously not easy but we had a good track record, as my list of players proves. Have we unearthed one player at real value since my list? The outward appearance is that we've changed a good strategy.

ESR was coached in the Arsenal framework of quick short passing, Fulham are coached in slow methodical game, the only player in that mode is Cairney and he has slowed down a lot, it is also noticeable when ESR is taken off the press goes with him.

He's not actually been able to play in his preferred position of #10 or out as RW yet because Silva keeps playing Wilson even though his heart doesn't appear to be in it now, and he's not doing anything other than scoring an occasional worldy. We need to now have an eye on next season and start playing the players who will likely be here, although given our manager seems to be doing us the disrespect of not counting his intentions it makes that somewhat more difficult
Title: Re: Bobb

ESR seems to be off balance every time he gets the ball and tries to hold it beyond his usual two-touch and preferred backwards pass. A 30 million plus outlay is entitled to expect more than that.
Title: Re: Bobb

Bobb is not a bad player. Neither are the rest of our players. They've all dropped form as our manager can't actually get a good performance from them. Blame Marco.

Look at Simons at spurs today. Was rubbish under previous managers. Seems to have a new lease of life under de Zerbi.

Thirty million pounds!!! Think how many Darren Freeman's, Simon Morgan's and Micky Conroy's (in their prime) Fulham could have bought back in the day. I think FFC have been proper Arthur Daley'dddd with Bobb. Certainly, he wins an Oscar for just going through the motions...lol

So many better criticisms you could make of Bobb. ie his strength and being lightweight but you have said he has no flair. Do you ever watch any of our games? It is clear the one thing he does have is dribbling ability and even in the Brentford game he had one nice moment where he beat a defender with some skill and won a free kick

Like so many of these players mentioned in the thread they don't get a run in the side. They need a run of continuous games in their favoured position. Does Silva know their best position and a style of play that suits them. It doesn't seem like it to me. Rotation is fine but we have had few injuries over the past weeks and yet we are still to have a settled side. Apart from the back 5 I am not clear what his favoured team and their positions are

Not at all lots of players have gone to other clubs who didn't want to sell, players have forced moves.
Money Money Money.

I disagree. Not 'lots'. And the players that have, such as Isak, typically do so to force a move to a club with a greater standing than us.

How many players can you name who have forced a move for themselves to Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Brentford or Brighton? These clubs are currently our peers. These are the clubs who, like us, sign players that the selling clubs choose to let go for the money they are offered rather than keep.

Tend to agree here, give some time to players like King, Bobb, Kevin, Chukwueze (if he stays).  They're all still quite young and learning.  That said, this is the Big Leagues, The Premier League, and teams like FFC can't wait forever for talent to blossom, or they might find themselves in lower tiers.  Hopefully they all get some time to play as this season ends and then with training and next seasons' pre season they can get up to speed.  Hope they can come good sooner rather than later.

Rayan who went to Bournemouth looks the real deal. Imagine Kevin on the left and Rayan on the right...

Immense flair, pace and dribbling skills. They would have been a serious threat up top.

You can't compare the two, Oscar Bobb was highly rated by City fans in what was one of the best squads in Europe and he's only 22.  I loved Kebano but Oscar Bobb already reached a higher level than Kebano did in his whole career.

One thing I will say is that Kevin has improved a lot during his injury. Before his injury he was a constant source of complaints (for some), but while injured he's enjoyed almost nothing but praise and clamour for his return!

Joking aside, my own view is that we need to massively improve the quality of our central midfield. The wingers are less effective because of the lack of quality in the middle, slow/predictable passing, poor ball control, lack of pace, lack of imagination.  Imagine how much better our wingers and creative players would perform with a midfielder or two like Bruno Guimaraes in the centre.

Totally agree, in that twenty minutes of Bobb and King on the pitch we ran them ragged down the left. With a little more composure and better judgement I could have seen us scoring a second.

The nutmeg was sublime as was his control taking the ball right on the touchline.

Yeah great nutmeg and play from Bobb. Issue for him seems to be finishing at the moment, a lot of very weak shots - not sure if it's on wrong foot.

He didn't back himself to shoot when in a great position and rolled a poor pass to Muniz which was cut out.

Noticed our diminutive players really struggling with shooting this season - ESR, King, Kevin and Bobb. Failing to make particularly good connections with the ball at key moments.

I kinda wish boa morte was still coaching here, feel like he's the type of coach Chukwueze and Bobb could benefit from

As for the comment regarding Kevin being better since his injury I know it was tongue in cheek but he had shown clear signs of progress and a couple of goals Including the absolute peach at utd away, just prior to his injury. Do think it looked like he was adjusting and gaining confidence hence people being frustrated to lose him just as his form was improving.

Looks like hell be back just in time for people to slate him for being rusty at the end of the season 😅

Bobb and Chuk both prefer playing on the right so if the latter stays and with Kevin, Iwobi and Sess as options on the left, we could get by without signing a direct replacement if H leaves which now looks inevitable.

Focus then on an elusive, goal-scoring, assist-fesh 8 and striker as priorities with upgrades in certain other positions

That's a fair point

Assuming We finally get a high level 8 then Iwobi can indeed become an LW again and perhaps we don't need more wingers after all even if Wilson departs.

Bobb and Chuck prefer playing on the Right perhaps if  Harry Wilson is  leaving it  won't be so upsetting.

Quote from: Twig on April 22, 2026, 04:23:07 PMWe all wanted our club to move from its reliance on age and experience towards greater focus on young potential. That is what is happening and with it comes a degree of risk. It had to happen now let's show a little patience and give these young players some time to shine.

Actually this is a great point. Younger players form are always in and out unless they are truly exceptional (see Rooney, Ronaldo etc),even King burst on to the scene and then faded before starting to come back again.

It happens.
