Title: Frustration with Wilson
Post by: sarnian on April 26, 2026, 12:58:18 PM
Anyone else get frustrated with Wilson. As much as I'm thankful for his goals this season it frustrates me that every time he gets the ball you know as well as opposition defenders do that he will cut inside. Give me a winger every day that can go both ways.
Kevin can do that and I think he will probably be first choice on the left next season. As Castagne showed yesterday, get down the wing, get the ball in the middle and goals result. Nearly all the crosses we score from are from the left.

Did not have his best game yesterday but not sure you can expect the form his shown this season to continue week in week out. Still likely to come up with a gem or two before season finishes.
I would say in this division this has been his most consistent and if not for his form latter part of last year and early this we would of been in the mix with the likes of Westham Spurs etc?

He's a nice footballer who pops up and scores some classy goals but he can't reproduce those occasions every game like so many other good footballers.

I'd be happy to keep him but not at any price.

This is the thing about him. He's a good player and one that's really important for us this season. But had he left last summer and we got a good enough replacement in, I don't feel many would have been too upset.

I don't believe he can replicate this season again. Good player but not worth more than the alleged 100k salary and no doubt will end up benched or sold by Villa.

Puts in a decent shift every game,
never been anywhere near being frustrated with him.

He's a very good Prem player these days and always a goal threat. Great movement.

I don't think he's being played in his best position for us and as a result doesn't score as many as he should.

Good luck to him at Aston Villa, and let's move on.

I'm looking forward to having Kevin back who I think is our star player.

I got frustrated with him a bit yesterday, he took a shot when he should've laid an easy ball off to Raul who would've been clean in on goal

Wilson has been a great player for FFC this season and last, some terrific goals scored and games won because of his contribution.  But I do agree, he can be inconsistent at times, sometimes go missing in a game.  As good as he has been this season, I'd have no issue with his departure.  He's in prime age years right now, and will command big wages.  Don't get me wrong, I like this player and he's been a contributor to FFC mid table status, but if he left, or if he stays, either way all ok with me.

I thought he was very disciplined yesterday. Practically played rwb 2nd half.

One bad game.

1000 other great games.

Trust me, that is a factual statistic.  :welcome1:  :cheesy:  ::beer::

🤔

Thought Harry played his heart out yesterday and did a lot of great defensive work. My frustration is I like wingers to be able to go inside and outside otherwise defenders know every time where they are going. Grealish at City was exactly the same that's why Pep got rid of him.

Do we play him if he re signs as a 10 or do we have better?

Yep, huge amount of defensive work, especially second half

I'm looking forward to bobb being deployed on the right and Kevin on the left as both can get to the byline or cut Inside and think Oscar isn't quite as effective or comfortable on the left as he is coming off the right

I agree with everything you wrote Sarnian.

My concern is he's saved his best season for the year that he's in the shop window.

With his injury record and inconsistency prior to this season I'd have doubts about making him one of the top earners at the club, either at RW or in the #10.

The only thing I have a problem with in regards to his performance against Villa is that one time he got on the end of a Lukic through ball (after brilliant one touch football sequence between ESR, Lukic and I think Berge) and he took a shot instead of passing it with Raul who would have had a sitter. His first touch was superb, he just needed to play Raul in and it would have been 2-0 at that point and it might have been an easier win.

So where do you play Samuel Chukwueze?
