Title: Bournemouth next week-Game of the season?
Post by: SerbianLad on May 02, 2026, 10:56:56 PM
In my opinion, yes. Win that and we have a great chance to reach European spots. Lose, or even draw that game, and I don't think we make it. Huge game. We need to be up for it from the first minute, just like we were against Villa.

We need Berge,Sess and Kevin back. Berge-Lukic looked great, Reed-Lukic looked poor, Bournemouth has a similar type of midfield to Villa, imo, so Berge-Lukic would likely work well again. With Marco saying it's a virus, hopefully he'll fully recover and be ready to play. Robinson is clearly out of form, hopefully Sess is back, but I'm not very optimistic. If he isn't back, I'd honestly bring Tete at rb and play Castagne at lb, or play Bassey at lb and Cuenca/Diop at lcb. I think we are missing Kevin too, as he offers something different to our other wingers, as he's a natural left winger who takes players on and has pace.

Why? Palace have less squad depth than us and they've been fine competing on both fronts. If you don't aim high, what's the point of playing in the PL anyway?

If we play like the last game we can forget about European football. Definitely want it but I think we will fall short as too many inconsistent performances. I think Bournemouth speed of play & passing will trouble us. Not sure where our goals are going to come from. Hoping the boys turn up & are not on the beach , cause they certainly were not at the Emirates.

I'm usually quite optimistic but I can't really get myself to believe that this team has what it takes to finish in a european spot this year.

It's the expectation that kills you, ergo i have zero expectations

We do win our last three games, it will happen.

I've had a feeling that we can finish on the same points as last season, but I also feel we might need 55 points to get Europe.

It's all to play for, and as fans all we can do is be supportive of the team and let them know what it means to us to get in Europe.

Game of the season for me was against Southampton. I am still spittung feathers about Marco's selection for that one. It punctured my enthusiasm for the rest of this season. I hope we beat Bournemouth abd I would like us to qualify for a European competition, but I find myself less enthusiastic about it than I would be if we had given winning the FA Cup our best shot.

I honestly couldn't have seen us beating Arsenal and then Man City to reach the FA Cup Final but of course one never knows.

Regarding Bournemouth, who knows which Fulham team will turn up.

I honestly expected us to lose to Villa but then, after winning that match, I really fancied us for at least a point at The Emirates.

I've so given up trying to predict our results recently although Villa sadly does feel like an outlier.

You make good point in which I am in agreement.  That said, the question at hand is if FFC really ready for the more rigorous schedule, additional games, etc, AND, will ownership/management invest in new players and such to keep this team in the League, which is my primary concern.  From what we've seen this season, FFC very inconsistent and dropped points v teams they should be beating.  Ownership has already blown one roster spot with an additional season for TC.  (Don't get me wrong, love TC and great servant to this club in helping to mid table respectability.)  But that is not the type of ambition I'm looking for from ownership, hanging on to  older players and fan favorites.  Lots of discussion in forum about money spent on Bobb, Kevin and ESR and whether ownership/management got it right with these players.  Chukwueze started strong, right now most here take a pass on picking up his purchase.  And I like King, but he looks like a garden ornament running around amongst the trees.  FFC needs to add some beef and muscle in my view.  I just don't know if the team will be improved enough to stay in the Prem with increased schedule.  If they can, sure, bring on Euro play.

Well going into the final round of three games Forest, West Ham and Spurs are all in contention for relegation, yet I would say that their new management and existing squads are stronger than ours currently.
You cannot stand still in the Premiership irrespective of Europe we need to strengthen again, maybe (probably!!!) whilst having to integrate a new management team and the loss of our most effective player this season (Harry Wilson.
It looks like we are ending up once again with an end of season drop off, maybe reflecting our squad strength, but the possibility of still being in with a shout of Europe is a positive,

Bournemouth will rip us to shreds we have 0 attacking threat get of one shot a game it isn't good enough. Same subs every week same formation things need to change. Players need to take ownership of their performance and have pride for the badge

It's a difficult thing to assess what the team are capable of these days. Since we beat Spurs, who were utterly useless that day, we have been ragged and lacking cohesion and intensity. Beating Burnley away and for a few weeks after that it all looked very promising.I would suggest beating Villa was a gift following one of the worse Villa displays of the season and that might have papered over a few issues.
As has been said we have nothing to scare Bournemouth with unless most of the team pull their blooming socks up or Silva changes something and that doesn't look like happening in the next three games.

Hate to say this and more than happy to be proved wrong but I have little confidence in us beating Bournemouth this Saturday probably 99.9% based on that Arsenal performance.
We are consistently inconsistent this season.
Looking at the way both teams set up I just think there aggression in midfield and pace up top will cause us all sorts of problems. There is an argument it's a bigger game for them than it is us with possibility of Champions league place where there concerned. Brighton are at home to Wolves Brentford away at City.
One thing that might be something we can take a bit of optimism about is we do from time to time bounce back well after a defeat but my head is telling me this lot are not up for a battle and an early goal from Bournemouth would likely see heads drop. Hopefully a return of Kevin & Tete might give us an extra lift.

Bournemouth have gone fifteen games unbeaten and our record against them in the Premier League is poor with just two wins in nine. Now that's not to say we can't win on Saturday, it's just that the evidence of our recent performances, coupled with their current good form doesn't point to a home win.
I think a lot depends on the players available to Silva and their application on the day. Hopefully the likes of Tete, Berge, Sessegnon, Iwobi and Kevin will be able to feature. He surely wouldn't select Reed again ? That was a crazy decision against Arsenal. I'd drop Wilson too if we have players coming back. His form has dropped off massively but still a good option from the bench.

We can't score goals, we play slow predictable football and a manager who we don't know will be here or not next season. Those who say Silva will stay if we get into Europe well that's been in his hands all season and so far it doesn't look as if he has the ability to make it happen.

Lets see what Silva does tomorrow, but it is the most important game of the season, before the next one against Wolves, and then the most important one of all, Newcastle

Quote from: Jules on May 08, 2026, 03:02:42 PMI really hope I am wrong, but considering our recent form I can only see an away win in this game. They are 15 unbeaten and took Arsenal to the cleaners at  the Emirates in their last away game, and won at newcastle the one before. They demolished palace last week. We've had a decent season but we are not good enough or consistent enough for that next step to the europe places. My prediction is 0-2.

3-0 Fulham - We got this
