Post by: FatFreddysCat on April 16, 2011, 03:52:28 PM
I've seen a few of you (Equaliser) posting about this beer, i saw some in Tesco so bought a bottle (didn't realise it was pale ale  ) do you have it cold or room temp as i've chucked it in the freezer, also going to try a bottle of chang.

Fred, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is brewed a little over an hour north of where I type from in a college town named Chico. In my years of drinking it, I have never had it at any temperature other than well chilled. Others may like it different however even at the brewery they serve it cold.

Cheers Ridgey, I'll leave it in a few more minutes then. I've never been keen on bitters and the like so not sure i'm going to like this, i'm not sure i've had pale ale before.

I quite like it. Find it to go well with BBQ and/or sausages Freddy. Curious to what you think?

I do drink mine cold as well. Nice on a hot day.

Surprisingly enough i had sausages today Finny  :015: . To be honest i'm not sure what i made of the beer (Ale) , it seemed ok, a couple more might have made me love it, or want to  :020: . I'll give it anouther chance sometime but i wouldn't go out of my way to find it.

The big question always is: Is what I'm drinking on this continent anything like what they're drinking on the continent where it's brewed. Most of the bottled British beers I've had here are well below the standard expected in the UK -- preservatives mostly -- and Guinness here is fine if you've never tasted it in England [which is fine if you've never tasted it in Ireland].

Mind you, nothing travels over the Atlantic worse than German Wine, but ... .

No. Look no further than Smithwicks here compared to Ireland.

If the beer is from the USA, it should always be served chilled/cold.

Tastes like "long life" - needs to be chilled, or better still poored down the sink...

I had one only the other day from the Slug and Lettiuce in Regent street; it was pants and very much like long life which could never make up its mind if it was a light ale or a light larger.

I shall be in NYC in June, resplendent in my Fulham shirt and they are all welcome to buy me a decent beer - if they can find one...

Chilled.  Believe it or not I strongly associate this beer with Fulham as I used to drink it in the White Horse before games - lovely beer - plus our form dropped dramatically when they stopped having it on tap.  Really depresses me that we get so much American muck like Budweiser when there's actually tasty stuff like that available.

Definitely chilled mate. I always chill bottled ales anyway, they tend to taste better cold.

Sierra Nevada on tap is a very good brew, and the Jolly Gardeners serve it well.
