Can some please help with the li
ne up.
We are looking solid upfront.
Fulham: Schwarzer, Riether, Hughes, Hangeland, Riise, Sidwell, Baird, Richardson, Rodallega, Berbatov, Petric. Subs: Stockdale, Senderos, Kasami, Karagounis, Diarra, Dejagah, Kacaniklic
Aston Villa: Guzan, Lowton, Vlaar, Baker, Bennett, Ireland, El Ahmadi, Delph, Holman, Bent, Agbonlahor. Subs: Given, N'Zogbia, Albrighton, Benteke, Bannan, Weimann, Lichaj
Petric misses a great chance but it is all a bit too open for me. No midfield for either side.

At least Diarra isn't needed at the moment then ;) Could really do with scoring soon though, looking pretty dangerous at the moment.
We're missing a real wide man. Duff. I'd bring on Dejagah.
Decent penalty shout though with Rodallega, who was clearly pushed by Bennett (?)

Pretty low quality match.
Sidwell had to get that on target, seriously.
I like the line-up involving Berba, Petric and Rodallega. Hope it works out well in the second half.
Frustrating that we haven't managed to score. But always look dangerous going forward. Needs a bit of guile otherwise we can be upset in the second half. A bit like a youth match with nobody putting their foot on the ball and controlling things.
Been a strange half, we've looked more threatening without creating too much. Not sure Berbs and Petric can play up top together, they're very similar. I'd bring Dejagah on for Petric after 5-10 mins, and move Rod up front. I think Rod's played fairly well on the right though. Probably been our best player.
Poor first half.Villa look like a 2nd division team in a cup tie. No class but fight for everything. Fulham far too casual. Could lose this one if they don't change up a gear.
Berbatov and Petric look like a bit of a luxury together. The team still needs a forward with some pace (Defoe type).
Let's hope for a better 2nd half.

:plus one:
Clearly missing Duff.
Not as bad as some are making out.
We look a bit disjointed, which isn't surprising given the line-up and the fact that many of these players have hardly trained together let alone played together. A tad too many strikers on our side and not enough influential midfield men for me, but I'll settle for the current position and hope that Jol can sort out some structure in his half-time talk.
Oh, Riise has been absolutely excellent!
Nogood "poor quality link though, so I might be talking absolute bolleaux, isit" Boyo
I really don't know what I thought of that half. I agree with Ordar..strange comes to mind but I'm not sure why. Seems to be a game that we should win handily but I get the impression that the players themselves, upfront that is, can't quite figure out a game plan to stick to. Not too concerned just yet.
Great strike rodders...
....and now Berba follows suit....honestly what is wrong with our finishing today?
Come on we need to bring on a wide player for Petric and Rodders alongside Berbatov.
We are going to be sucker punched if we are not careful.
And a midfielder to take the game by the scruff of the neck... if he's fit.
Kaca should be on for Richardson
Agree with Mr. Lighthouse, could get caught. Two factors...Villa only won 3 away in 23, Fulham hot favourites. All set for a Fulhamish day. Please not!
Sidwell is just garabage today
Rubbish effortts from both Richardson and Sidwell. C'mon guys.!!!!
Diarra...... yes please
Diarra on for Petric.
Now bring Kaka on for Richardson
Richardson off for the debut Iranian.
God Sidwell is rubbish.
Sidwell still out there...? :56:
To be fair to Sidwell, at least he's been involved. Baird has done absolutely nothing
We really need Diarra to play every minute of every game.
I can see Villa nicking this. No urgency or quality in the side today

Spot on. Gives us a pivot in the middle
Bring Kaka now what the hell are we waiting for ?

very true I didn't think he was playing today
entering the twilight zone now. villa know we give away goals in the last 10 and really up for it. rubbish performance today. that makes 2 in a row.
Dejagah looks quality

nothing wrong absolutely true :D
almost threw it away again, Dejagah strong quick and powerful runner. Should fit in well.
:scarf: COYW yee-haw!
hold de the ball!!!!
RELIEF great 3 points Off to get my S001.gif
Well we made a right meal of that! Great win though
now that was tough game, great 3 points indeed
I'll take all three. 098.gif
Huge win that. We earned it against Lambert's dull army.
I don't think we were as bad as some are making out. We dominated in terms of shots and had more possession and corners. Remember how hard it was to play against us under Roy? Villa are similar now and we deserved the points today.
Enjoyed the game! Wasn't as pretty as Norwich or West Brom, but an entertaining match.
Dejagah looks GOOD. Excited about him. I wouldn't like to be the person who had to choose our front 6.
I thought what was noticeable, that we had some genuine options on the bench. Dairra, Dejagah and Karagounis all did well when they came on. Particularly excited by Dejagah.
We didnt play that badly. Villa came for a point and to stifle us. I hope today has proven that Berbs and Rod are the best options up front. Petric and Berbs are too similar.
I thought Riise and Reither played well
This is the type of game we would have lost in the past
Diarra is pure class, best player in the midfield
Good win, definitely deserved we dominated the game and villa offered nothing.
I cant keep mentioning how poor sidwell is, hes the new kelly in our team offers nothing going forward or back
and has absolutely NO technique. Great to see diarra back showing how a real central mid plays, hes in a class of
his own and truly world class in my opinion.
Dejagah is awesome
Its been a while since we had a direct winger with real explosive pace.
Don't agree Sidwell was poor. Look at his stats and he played well enough. Two full backs were huge today. Great subs (not something I often say) and our new Iranian looks the business. We missed Duff early and Rodders is better inside than playing wide. Not convinced that Petric and Berbatov work together.
Odd match and one we deserved to win. The chances we created deserved better.
Well done Fulham.

Yes, but equally we could have lost it quite easily. Holman caused us all sorts of trouble down their right. Duffer would have quietened him down perhaps.
Diarra's fitness is the clue to our form this season. Sidwell didn't play nearly as badly as people made out. He was first to so many balls and broke up their attacks time and time again. His distribution wasn't too good. That's why I don't like to see him and Baird together in midfield.
Wingers. Duff, Kaca, Frei, now the Iranian. This is clearly the direction Jol wants us to take. Get the ball wide and fire it in.
However, with Berbatov fed by Diarra or some other Murphy replacement, we still have the option of taking it fast and straight up the middle.
This team is only just beginning to play together.
Nogood "high hopes, itis" Boyo

Almost exactly how I saw it.
By coming on as sub Diarra illustrated exactly how valuable he is. An absolute diamond - we must pray that he keeps fit and lives forever (which he has already made a good stab at).
Sidwell will, from some quarters, collect his traditional and undeserved slagging off. He does his best, is decent defensively but is simply too limited to be an ideal Premiership mid. He ain't going to turn into Xabi Alonso overnight and when paired with another limited player like Baird, we just don't have enough midfield creativity. Diarra provides the class.
The two full-backs were excellent today.
What you say about wingers is also very true. Given that, it was strange that we didn't start with any of the four. Dejagah's appearance showed that this is going to be a hotly contested position in future.
We played some pretty stuff today but lacked a cutting edge and I wonder if Rodellega's lack of finishing will mean he is difficult to fit in.
Getting the right end of one-goal results is the key to success at this level (there aren't many 'laughers') and we have much to look forward to.
Congratulations to Bairdinho on his goal. Was it a fine piece of opportunism from a poor corner; or was it a well-worked move?
To compare Baird and Sidwell in terms of their footballing ability is ridiculous.
Sidwell is very limited indeed. Does his defensive job, but looses balls, runs into trouble too often and does those ridiculous sliding tackles all over the place. But the most important thing is that his first touch is pretty awful.
Baird on the other hand is so underrated in that midfield slot, and always has been. He's not as glossy as Dembele or Diarra, but he does his job and his passing/footballing ability is sublime.
I like Sidwell, but Baird is the man to partner Diarra in the next few months.
Wow, up to 8th... That already makes us - Reading - nervous for next week. We're not getting outplayed as such, but we're simply not competing sufficiently.
Anyway, I'll be in touch in a few days to sound you out for next weekend, if you don't mind. Enjoys your pints tonight guys ...
