So Duff sub so no injury. But our central midfield is a real problem as predicted way back during the transfer window. Still if we can go forward and can hold onto the ball we can be good. How we are going to get hold of it is the real problem.

Looking at that line- up, we need a huge game from Richardson.

diarra is a loss, but i would have gone with sidders over baird in this one due to his mobility. might not be as bad as we fear.

I feel the same, I'm not too happy that Walcott is starting for Aresnal either, I think he could punish us.

Gutted with regards to no Diarra, looking forward to seeing Dejagah attack Vermaelen. That central midfield area is not good enough to outpass Arsenal, I'm just hoping Baird and Sidwell can break up play and give it to the more technically gifted players in Ruiz, Dejagah and Berbatov. Richardson will provide Riise with good cover, especially with 'rejuvenated' Walcott. If Jol has got his tactics right, we're looking good for a point, and more if luck is on our side.

Hey, if Celtic can beat Barcelona...

Good line-up, I'm a bit "oo-err" about Richardson starting. He needs to have a good game. Diarra is a big loss but we have George on the bench.

Subs I can see coming on are: George, Rodallega and Duff. George for Sidwell, Rodallega for Richardson and Duff for Dejagah.

I would've been a bit "oo-err" about Kaca starting. Richardson has played left back at Sunderland and will most likely operate as a second left back to keep Walcott at bay.

Looking at the teams, we are going to get dominated in the CM area which will, force Ruiz back, leaving Berbatov stranded.

Probably to deal with Walcott. Kaca better when we were two behind, but Richardson better defensively so more likely to keep Theo quiet.

Agreed, awful. There was a good 30 seconds before the kick was taken while Arsenal were shouting at each other. Add that on to let it get taken.

Hangeland has lost it, doesnt dominate set pieces anymore and we look vulnerable every corner or free kick.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Giroud score more today.

Baird always passes it backwards and Sidwell can't pass well enough.

Kaca and Dejagah look good + Ruiz and Berba just ooze class.

Spend on Douglas and a top quality CM in January and we'll be set

Madness isn't it? So good going forward but utter tosh at defending. Could be 3-2 up and yet despite the fightback our defence scares me. Still get our Iranian  involved and we could spring more problems. Goals a plenty.

Excellent fight back by the Whites. Ruiz and Berbatov are looking great up front but I'm really impressed with Dejagah on the right.
Bit fuming at Sidwell's booking. Cazorla hit the floor far too easily. Podolski's taken down Dejagah twice but he's not even had a talking to?

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Phil Dowd is not fit to referee, he's the reason Bolton got relegated instead of QPR.

After the two away games we should have won and after the last two games, lucky last week and the ref tried to cheat us this week I guess it evens itself out.,

Awful defence and Ruiz great but then passes the ball to give them the chance in the last minute. We tried our best to give this away but what a great game. Thrilled with the game but oh for the defence to return to form.

What a great game. Fully deserved point. Ruiz MOM with his best game for us. Schwarzer the hero inspite of his poor distribution. Berba pure class & must rank as one of our finest signings.
17 points from last 17 away games isn´t bad at all.
We are the most exciting team to watch now.
BUT please, please Jol sort out our central defence.

I wonder if Dowd would have given that at the other end with about 30 seconds to go? He was flapping his arm like a duck after the decision as if he was convincing himself that the decision was correct !

Against a backdrop of the FirstRow commentary of Mc Manaman (who was probably wearing an Arsenal scarf) it's sometimes difficult not to be paranoid if you're of the Black and White persuasion......

But what a game by Ruiz...and of course Schwartzer who earned his week's wages in that one dive (which took place after the 94 minutes was up!!!).

I reckon we are a player or two away from competing for a top 6 spot, but it's our midfield that is the problem. We need guys who can collect and hold the ball in midfield under pressure and rack up free kicks. Teams put pressure on our midfield and we end up losing possession constantly. Any defence that is under so much pressure will crack.

Good post.  For the first time in many years we are questioning our defense which means we're scoring goals.  No doubt we need another CB  (sorry Aaron) and even a LB.  BUT the midfield have to get back. Too often today we had 3 on 3 and 3 on 4.
Despite all that....Fulham's place as a premiership side has taken a very different turn to what we are used to.  No more looking behind at the cut off line for relagation......at least for a good while.

On the BBC TV they made a point about what is handball? Nobody thought it was a pen. Have to say the ref was like our defence. Good moments but some awful decisions.

Well they got it just right!!!!

For a handball infraction to be called, a player must deliberately handle the ball with their hand or arm. A referee must determine if the player intentionally handled the ball. Nowhere in the FIFA Laws of the Game does it state that an unintentional handling of the ball is an infraction.
Dowd did indicate that Baird moved his arm to the ball, too quick to see, will make good viewing on match of the day.

I've already watched it countless times on widescreen HD, Epsom.  If Dowd motioned that Baird moved his arm towards the ball, that would be strange.  Riether was the man adjudged to have moved his elbow away from his side for the ball to hit it.  The ball was whipped in at him from a yard away.  He was actually trying to keep his arms straight by his sidebut he turned a little and his elbow did come out a few inches.  It was not a voluntary movement.  It shouldn't have been a penalty.
I believe Barid was booked for over-zealous lobbying.

Dowd made the motion that Baird had moved his arm to ball after he waved the players away and walked across to the spot. I was there just to the left of the goal four rows back and he carried on a conversation with the Arsenal players to convince everyone he saw something that only the nut case fans thought was a penaly. Most of those sitting around me half heartedly appealed and some even said they were lucky to get it

Just to speak up for the ref: Despite the awful penalty decision I'm just glad he thought again about giving Sidwell a 2nd yellow card for an innocuous challenge. If we'd been down to 10 men, it might have been a different story. He had the courage to think again and change his mind to the correct decision. Pity he didn't do the same thing for the penalty.

He levelled that one out like he did for the Pen?
