Fulham XI: Schwarzer, Riether, Senderos, Hughes, Riise, Dejagah, Karagounis, Baird, Sidwell, Petric, Berbatov (c)
Bench: Etheridge, Kelly, Kasami, Diarra, Duff, Rodallega, Banya
- Berbatov captain.
- Dejagah and Karagounis from start.
Stoke XI: Begovic; Shotton, Shawcross (c), Huth, Cameron; Walters, Whelan, Nzonzi, Adam, Etherington; Crouch
Bench: Sorensen, Palacios, Jones, Whitehead, Upson, Kightly, Jerome
- Crouch from start (doh)
Your guess at formation is as good as mine. I think it's a 4-5-1, with Petric on the left wing, but wouldn't surprise me if he's gone
4-2-3-1 with either Karagounis or Sidwell tucked behind Berbatov
what formation we going with then? Narrow 4-3-3? with Petric Berba and dejagah up top?
Wheres Duff?
Interesting but wonder about that left side. Any news on subs yet?

Stoke Subs: Sorensen, Palacios, Jones, Whitehead, Upson, Kightly, Jerome
who is Banya ?
Strange line up, assume Diarra not fit surprised he has only Dejagah as a wide player thought he would have Duff/Rodallega or even Kasami in instead of Kara

Not sure we need to be that negative against stoke do we? Surprised Diarra hasn't started, can't be match fit

4-5-1 isn't necessarily negative. Runs from deep from Sidwell and/or Kara could cause trouble.
I think Petric will play up front Berbs just behind him the rest is a mystery to me imo.

Never in a million years.
Schwarzer
Riether Hughes Senderos Riise
Sidwell Baird
Dejagah Karagounis
Petric Berbatov
Looks like a 4-4-2.
Would love to see a late Charles Banya cameo btw.
Baird at right back and Reither right mid???
Having trouble keeping the ball and every corner we still don't pick up players.
1st yellow Sanderos
Soft, soft goal
:bang head: :bang head: :bang head: :bang head: :bang head: :bang head:
Oh .....boy..... damn
We are just so poor at the back and without Brede we just have no chance with every cross.
Petric may as well not be playing as he is seeing little of the ball. When he does he does nothing with it.
Surely Crouch is using Senderos as a ladder there?
Sidwell is injured :bang head:
We are playing terrible.... Riise is making no runs!
No surprises. And this is partly Senderos being poor, but that's is no excuse. Our defending is not of Premier League standard this season. We'll lose, but I did not expect anything else.
Just NO pace up front. Petric not in the game, Dejagah not in the game and Karagounis is everywhere but not on the left.
This match shows why I didn't want Petric and Berbatov up front. We're far too static.
We need PACE up front
So lucky this time.
Blatant shove to get the header though
Dirtiest team in the Prem! Can't stand Stoke
What is with the Stoke fans? Heavily booing our players when they are clearly injured, first Sidders now Senderos

They are always like this! It's like playing away in Istanbul to Galatasaray :(
-"Oh when the Whites!"
Karagounis has impressed me today. Intelligent player, hard working, energetic and decent defensively. Another great addition.
Some offense would be nice in the second half...
Okay I will ask:
What is up with the Stoke players and the mustaches? :dft002: :dft002: :dft002:

We have got to pull something out of this match....C O Y W!!!!!
can not excuse the way in which we are playing however i am finding this hard to watch as Stoke seem to get away with alot more than they should.....
Moustaches are growths for charity.
Defence failing to deal with Crouch who's playing a blinder.

We're not going to outmuscle them, we don't have the team speed to outpace them, we struggle to defend tall strikers (and they have the tallest), and no one in black seems able to manage 1-2s with Berbatov.
If we can't afford those 5-8 minute spells of Stoke pressure, it could be a very long afternoon.
Not happy with Karagounis who seems to be everywhere but not where he's supposed to be. If you want to attack Stoke, you need a positive display, creativity and a lot of pace. We possess nothing to trouble them.
Oh for goodness sake we need Rodders on for Petric to end this do nothing sod all play when we can go forward. This is just dull to watch Fulham just not turn up AGAIN.
Better second half PLEASE.

We should talk about our own terrible display, not about the referee, my friend.
Mr "truth is difficult, innit" Fulham
they climb and push for every ball thats in the air.... the one that hit the bar was a clear foul and also although not a foul to me, in the premier league i dont think Huth can have his foot 6 foot in the air, studs showing, then push it into Berba's back

Playing 2 thug sides one after the other is not what our physios need.
how about a positive substitution?
We are played awful. Jol needs to change something.
why not give Kasami or Banya a chance? It can't get much worse can it?
Our MF have not created anything. Berba & Petric have had no service.
Yeh, but you've got to feel sorry for the Stoke fans. They have to watch this crap every week. At least with us, its exceptional.

Here we go come on Duff.
Great chance Berba - so well worked! Either side of the 'keeper and we're level. Can still get something out of this.
make that 3 to ManUre
I wonder if Riise will ever hit a barn door?
Senderos of Stoke is causing us all sorts of problems.
Attacking changes.
Dejagah has been pretty magnificent in the second half, I can see how he's been keeping Duff out of the side

Have to say that on one of the streams I have just seen an almost perfect 4.5.1 stoke defence. Only guile will break that so why the long or high balls?
Utter crap today. Got exactly what we deserved. No invention and too many mistakes and poor performances
Another pathetic performance.
Not good.

Yep. We couldn't have broken them down in 180 minutes today.
loving joke.
Time to buy a CM. Baird and Sidwell aren't good enough.
Baird was weak today, way too many giveaways...
On the plus side...
They have to watch that 38 times a season. We have to watch that two times a season.
For once I have to criticise Martin. He made a tactical decision to play Giorgos on the left to counter the threat Walters posed. It didn't really work and it hindered our offensive ability. He should've made the change earlier. As soon as he did we were the better side.

What an awful match..................................
a more 'gifted' CM required along with a CB or 2.....
Stokes 10 in the box tactis works well especially against us when we have no midfielder that can spot a ball and play it
We are so pedestrian, players standing about waiting for the pass, watch the top teams like Man U , they move all the time and when they go forward they go with PACE!
Thought Kara did pretty well, albeit not in the position he was playing in. Should be him and Diarra in MF with a full squad.
Think today showed how important Ruiz is. Without him the link between MF and Berba was... Berba.
Without another player of Berbatov's quality, we're going to struggle to break down any stout defense, as Stoke demonstrated so resoundingly today. Meanwhile, our defense is sufficiently suspect it's unlikely we'll keep any clean sheets against teams of mid-table or better talent.
As some speculated mid-week, the time from now through New Year's is likely to be pretty gloomy for Fulham fans. Not enough muscle, not enough pace, not enough offensive guile....yikes!
fair to say we missed the trio of Kaca, Bryan Ruiz and Hangeland today :(
Senderos was awful and I expect him to be dropped and replaced by Baird for the Chelsea match
Its Stoke away...do you really expect anything else? Always a game I write off..if we get anything its a bloody bonus.
Maybe also a reality check for those of you who say we could be top six. Yes top ten, maybe 7th with a prevailing wind, but really 8-12 is the our level.
We all knew this would be a difficult game after last week, and we weren't let down. Disappointed that a miracle didn't happen but not surprised. It will be a difficult few weeks as said by Mr Peabody a couple of days ago :-(

Manure? I'd be happy if we could match WBA's passing and movement right now.
I'm currently travelling up country so have heard little to nothing about the game. However a 1-0 loss away to stoke has to be the most predictable and uninspiring result in world football.
Sounds like the team lacked pace today. How did our midfield hold up against theirs?

Got nothing to do with it at all, I would have expected a more thought out response from you.
Baird & Sidwell have been given enough chances & continue to be out played by every other midfield. Diarra has to come in,fit or not.Even bring Duff inside. At least he has some pace. The extra space may suit him. Time perhaps for Kasami being given a chance. Senderos unsettles the whole defence. They are having to watch out for his cock ups rather than concentrate on their own game.
I think I get the point being made about age and pace. Today the team was full of changes, either personnel or positional, the tactics were impossible to fathom and again we were top heavy with lets say more players closer to thirty and above and/or short term fixes. (so long Jol Revolution). Posters are getting at Senderos but if Diarra was fit enough for the bench he should have come on with time to spare. That might have offered us two options, some protection for the back four and perhaps holding the ball in midfield. He would have had to be top of his game of course but I am becoming suspicious of his numerous absences these days.
People will be focusing on individuals, another abysmal away performance and probably ignoring the earlier battle cry of 'toughen up four tough games' coming etc but ............... had we not got a couple of early wins against now vastly improved sides we would be in the mire. Damn the stoicsm I'm not impressed lately.

He's consistently impressed me, today his performance was let down because he didn't stick to his role but the distribution and defensive work were good.
Sometimes it is frustrating to be the fan of a British team. A german team, Freiburg for example, would have thrown in Kasami and Banya without thinking twice about it. It's frustrating to watch all those old Fulham players (average age 31.2 years) because there's no plan B, no pace and nothing "special" apart from Berbatovs occasional glimpse of pure class. Too pedestrian.

that average is thrown by Mark S & Karagounis.
Now I'm as keen as anyone to see youth given a chance but would Freiburg ever play a team like Stoke?
I would not throw in a youngster for a debut against them at home on a wet November up there. If anything, against them, I would pick the most experienced hardest bunch of players I had. Never. A place for gifted youngsters.
Why not? In Germany we call that "Feuertaufe". a baptism of fire. it doesn't get much worse. if they make it there, they make it anywhere. if not, they'll make it on a sunny Craven Cottage afternoon when we lead 5-0.
Dunno what the situation is like in Germany, but the amount of money gained by being a single place higher in England is ridiculous. There's less incentive to play kids these days. It's really quite disappointing though.

Thanks for that. Such cynicism though and Duff played!. I would hate to be in our team and lined up against a wall in front of us after a game. On the command "Fire" about half of them would go down, one or two would kop it with ricochets and the one that failed on pro zone stats only would be left standing unscathed. We all see the game differently I suppose but I don't think there is a single scape goat today. Jol has to get the SAME team playing for more than one game in a row and actually define where we are going. 3 points from 15? Where did the revolution go?

Diarra and Karagounis could be the pair we need in CM atm. Sidwell obviously aint good enough.
Senderos also very poor today. We need Hangeland badly.
