Post by: Riverside on January 30, 2013, 06:05:47 PM
I know the MODs will merge this into the match day thread .
But just for of few minutes I want this to be a topic headline .

This is a massive 3 points . I will be there supporting the team .
All I hope for 3 points .
I EXPECT 100% effort ( and believe the 100% effort we will get 3 points )

Now that said I am off to the match

Hi All,
I can't make tonights game with West Ham but would ask you ALL to get behind the staff & players, its now more than ever they need your support, remember the great escape year and Europa league run when we fans made a positive difference, please don't get on players backs as this is hugely counter productive,
Thanks and enjoy the game COYW !!!!!!!!!

Craven Cottage plays host to a London derby between two teams desperately struggling for form of late. Hosts Fulham have been on a catastrophic run that has seen them take them take just three wins from their last 18 in league and cup, a run that has seen the West Londoners drop from the Europa League positions to 14th position, just four points above the drop zone, and after their capitulation against Manchester United at the weekend, out of the FA Cup.

Meanwhile, after finding themselves in eighth position after defeating Chelsea on the 1st of December, West Ham have since taken just one win from their next eight Premier League matches. While 12th position and 27 points may not exactly spell relegation trouble just yet, Sam Allardyce will be aware that a Fulham victory would take Martin Jol's side above the Hammers.

Jol may hand a debut to central-midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong after the Ghanian joined from Arsenal on-loan for the rest of the season, while Kieran Richardson should return after missing the trip to former club Man Utd with a calf strain. However, Kerim Frei (groin), Mahamadou Diarra (knee) and Simon Davies (thigh) remain out.

For the Hammers, Marouane Chamakh is available again after the on-loan striker was ineligible to face parent club Arsenal in his side's last league match. Andy Carroll may be fit enough for a place on the bench after recovering from a knee problem while new signing Emanuel Pogatetz will be in the squad, as well as the highly-coveted midfield Momo Diame. Winston Reid (groin), Daniel Potts (concussion) James Collins (hamstring) and George McCartney (knee) are all sidelined.

I have to miss tonight's game. It is more nerve racking being away from the Cottage than it is watching the game.
Essential we all  get behind the team for this big 6 pointer. I hope the team give us something to shout for.

Well said, chaps. Purely as a matter of interest, I wonder what odds the bookies are giving on our going 1 down within 2 minutes?
One thing's for sure. The lads are going to be very nervous early in the game about giving the ball away in midfield.

To our supporters, the least we can do tonight is give 100% support. That means no moaning, no booing, just support the boys and make the cottage rock like the fortress we know it can be.  If this game is as important as is being stated, then let's do our bit too by getting behind the boys and cheering them on.

If we get behind the team, even if we go behind, and cheer us on we can do this!
But, please think about it - if we did draw or worse, it really is not the end and doesn't requie overreaction. Mo has made us self sufficient and also stated we are trying to get players in. Assuming we do get the Milan geezer and maybe 1 or 2 others we should be well good enough.
Lets try and stick together like during the 'Great Escape'  :scarf:

Yes, very shocking. Hughes is probably "punished" for his performance last week, but why not play Dejagah on the left wing?

i would assume this is tactical because senderos is bigger than hughes and west ham lump balls forward.  the problem is, he is like bambi with the ball.

If we keep the ball like we can and move it at the right pace we can easily beat these. Big if though.

Yes, remember the game at Upton Park, they did a lot of damage with high balls down the middle. Hangeland and Senderos together should be able to handle that threat. More worried what Joe Cole may do to Senderos on the ground.

Berba is looking lively.  Riether is looking like an absolute monster.  And Rodallega's attacking runs when Berba and Ruiz have the ball is adding an element of danger we've been missing -- either of those two can hit Rod from pretty much anywhere, so he draws defenders.

But how lame a free kick was that?  Did Ruiz even touch the guy?

Also, that's two very good balls in from Duff from the left in this game alone.  Compared to his consistent dross from the right, may be worthwhile keeping him on the left or a bit.

Against these Allardyce-type teams, where we need some width to break down a physical defense, I'd think he's got to start on the left.

Glad he's coming off now though, was starting to look a bit dangerous defensively.

Rodallega has got to charge the keeper in case Petric's shot isn't handled.  Would have been a tap-in.

Looked like it was tight more than pulled, so he may only miss the United game.  Which would be awful, would mean that Scholes wont have a second chance to go flying into a ridiculous tackle in the dying minutes.

shame about Berbs but honestly not fussed, Ruiz to slot in behind Rodallega where he's comfortable then Dejagah on the right, happy days.

13 shots at goal, only 41% possession though (other places say 44%)

Thought he was one of the better players in the first half hour or so when the team absolutely dominated, but when that faded he got steadily worse and at the start of the second half he was a bit of a hindrance.

really happy with that performance, showed a lot of fight and the players looked really up for it. Fantastic performance from Hugo, class from Berbs and despite a couple of dodgy moments better from Senderos.

All in all a pleasing performance and I'd like to see the same line up on Saturday.

Also one more bonus, AVB just said in his interview that Huddlestone has been given to permission to speak to Fulham.

Senderos needs to get a bit stronger though, he looks stronger than he is. For me we need a new centre back, Senderos, Hangeland and Hughes have all lacked consistency.

Great win for Fulham, too bad I missed the match, I was in school. How did Dejagah look when he came on? Iran has a game in a week, hopefully he is in good form.

Also, it seems like Ruiz played on the right, Duff on the left, and Rodallega behind Berba in the attack, correct?

Yes, you are correct. Dejagah was excellent in his stint. He looked very sharp. Have a look at my View From South Texas. It'll answer a lot of your questions.

Good luck in the international, but Ashkan needs to come back 100% healthy

Oh, ok. Great, thanks for the feed back.

Thank you, it is an Asian Cup Qualifier against Lebanon, and although Dejagah is in the list of invitees for Iran, I don't know if he will play or not depending on how seriously Queiroz (Iran's coach) takes the match.

As HatterDon said, Dejagah looked very good.  The third goal was set up by his play - he ended up with the ball far up the wing with no support, so he took it to the corner, held off a couple West Ham players, somehow got free and worked the ball back inside.  A moment later he received another pass in the box and centered it to Rodallega (I think? My memory is going already), whose blocked shot was then squeezed in by Petric (off a defender, scored as an OG).

The only problem was that he fell down a couple times.  I think the grass was slick for some reason (IIRC Sidwell lost his footing at one point, too.)

I like him.  He's always had a lot of technique, but he's adapted his game a bit too.  Dives into fewer tackles, and seems a little stronger physically in possession.
