Frimpong Set To End Extraordinary 12-Year Association With Arsenal

Arsenal youngster Emmanuel Frimpong could be poised to join on-loan side Fulham permanently in the summer on a free transfer.

Once touted as a promising home-grown prospect for the gunners, a cruciate ligament injury at the beginning of last year severely halted his progress and as a result is no longer in Arsene Wenger's plans.

But is this the real cause of complaint? The player has been involved with Arsenal since he was 9 years of age. Perhaps the Gunners have eventually come to the rationalisation that he simply isn't good enough enough to cut it at the top. Why has it taken them so long?

Emmanual Frimpong was born in Ghana but moved to North London at an early age, and has been with Arsenal since the age of nine, along with Jack Wilshere. Although playing for England youth teams, he has declared his allegiance to country of birth, but is yet to gain a cap as of yet.

Fulham supremo Martin Jol has expressed his desire to sign 21-year-old, by saying:

If there is an opportunity to take him, I would probably do it."
