It always makes me cringe when you Engländers try to pronounce names. Spanish ones are usually the worst. Also it's stupid when someone pronounces Ruiz as "Ruith", as the z=th is only in European Spanish.

Also, ffs Sidwell.

It's the same tackle he did against QPR, lunging in from afar.  You can debate the merits of it being a red all you want, but you have to be an absolute moron to do it again, 12 minutes into your comeback game.  Completely inexcusable, and that should hopefully be that for his Fulham career.

Berba should have scored then too, or at least made it more of a difficult save.

Correct decision, but quite often you see players in the "big" teams getting away with just a yellow for similar challenges...

I think we are playing quite well tbh. we are holding possession in good areas of the pitch, we just look very outnumbered when they break with pace (obviously we will with 10 men). emaneulson and kaca are looking sharp, giving monreal and sagna alot of trouble

so, if Arse-nil beat us, and Liverpool beat us at home, and we lose on the road... we might get drawn again into relegation battle.  The ref sucks... all calls Arsenal way.  No way a red card.

Played well until the set piece. But I would take Berbatov off and put on Rodders just to give him a run and stretch Arsenal if we can.

Not sure if the Enoh foul was a foul that lead to the goal. But all in all a spirited reaction for Fulham.

What a shame. A good lineup, good attitude, undone by a rash tackle by a player with a target on his back. Manolev doing a good imitation of Riether, but Berba...c'mon, man, suck it up, you don't make every play either.

As for Ruiz, can't defend, can't score, why did we pay so much for him?

064.gif Berbatov keep the ball? Is this meant to be ironic? EVERYTHING he has done today is not keep the ball and moan. He runs into offsides positions giving us no option but to look for another pass. He is no good with ten men. This love affair with him is fine but he needs a rest as we are going to lose and give some other players a chance to break with pace.

Light, what is your point exactly? to rest the best player Fulham has? And replace him with whom, Baird(inho). People here amuse me sometimes. Many are calling Sidwell great middfielder, which is an insult to the place called middfield. He is bellow average who costed Fulham points this season. I am not saying that he had some good moments, but he is poor.

That was played tactically very well imo.  Yes Arsenal had a truckload of possession but never looked dangerous with it.  The 15 or so minutes towards the end of the game could have resulted in a deserved equaliser.

Just a shame about the set piece at the end of the first half.
Title: Re: Fulham v Arsenal match thread

You know what I'm not too unhappy with that performance. Played some of the best football of the season at times.

Everyone had a good game but plaudits have to go to Urby and both full backs. Manolev looks far better at right back and certainly looks good cover, whilst Richardson looks more and more likely to make it as our left back. As for Urby, one can only hope somehow we'll get him next season but if not it was a joy to see him play today.
Title: Re: Fulham v Arsenal match thread

Yeah lots of good points. Very spirited. I still don't get the point of bringing Petric on and taking pace off in Kaka. But then Berbatov off side every time did nothing for me in the second half.

Still as Wigan lost we don't slip closer to the bottom three.

Yes that is what I am concerned about in the poorest of seasons.

I loved the way we kept running despite having just 10. Arsenal's alleged strength in the final 20 minutes was well seen off with repeated attacks on their goal.

What can you say about Sidwell? ...apart from the fact he has just devised another way for a single player to torpedo a super team effort against the kind of side where we need every man playing to his utmost.

I know you are frustrated as we all are. But saying I hate Berbatov is a bit childish. Berba is a great player but he looked very tired and was caught offside more often than not. He should have been replaced IMO and not by Petric. But I know people only ever see Berbatov as he was five years ago. That's fine. I don't hate him and am happy you see things as you do.

Played well until the set piece. But I would take Berbatov off and put on Rodders just to give him a run and stretch Arsenal if we can.

Not sure if the Enoh foul was a foul that lead to the goal. But all in all a spirited reaction for Fulham.

Madness. When you have 10 men you have to keep the ball, who is better at keeping the ball in our squad than Berba? Rodders will give the ball away at every opportunity with his donkey touch.

And this hatred of him is irrational.

:plus one: :plus one: :plus one: Berba's only accomplishment today was getting caught offside. He's a great player but today was not his kind of game. Rodallega, as poor as his touch may have been, would at least have harried defenders and really should have gotten on the pitch today. Couldn't have done any worse than Berba had he did.

On that performance it's a must that we try to buy Enoh and Emanuelson in the summer. If we can get a Murpheyesque kind of player to play next to Enoh next season we could do very well.. Best thing today was Wigan losing. If they lose their next one i don't think they will get to 40 points..

You often criticise him for being a luxury player etc. He did fine today.
He may've been a bit frustrating but he is the best striker we have by a long shot.

Ruiz, well no.11, He asked who he was as he thought he had great ball control. No.11 is Ruiz isn't it?

So our no11 can't shot (or score), cross a corner in stoppage time when we are pressing, still after almost two seasons needs more time than he will every get in the Premier League, can't tackle and defend but he does have great ball control.

Do you think Arsene will give us the money we paid to take him off our hands? No thought not
