Title: Stephen Humphrys.
Post by: ..FOF.. on August 03, 2016, 05:16:04 AM
Scored twice in our first pre-season friendly against Cobh Ramblers.

Scored twice again against Cork City.

Provided an assist to Smith in the Preston North End game.

Provided an assist to the only goal in the Tottenham friendly, scored by Luca de la Torre. Also note, Humprys was very productive in this game despite coming in during the halftime.

Did well in the Brighton and Hove Albion game and played a big role in 3rd goal.

Unused sub for the Real Betis match.

Came close with a shot to the far corner and denied only by the keeper's superb sprawling save. Goalless draw with CD Nacional.

Wasn't featured in the last friendly against Crystal Palace. Was an unused sub in the Under-23 game against Southampton.

I believe he was named as a substitute for the Southampton fixture but played 90 mins at Centre Back due to an injury to Aron Davies in warm up.

I see, I couldn't get any other detailed news about that Under-23 game.

He is going to be 19 in mid-Sept.

With McCormack almost certain to leave now, I'm sure we will see a lot of him in the next 4-6 games for Joka to assess whether he is ready for the championship.

Hopefully we get 2 more quality forwards before the window closes.

He's a big unit alright and the way it's looking he will be in the squad for sure.

Looks as though he has not been allocated a first team squad number, so JS doesn't think he's quite ready.

His name shoots up because Ross is almost certain to go and any new signing won't appear in our first game.

We desperately need depth especially in the attacking department.

Potentially talented but completely raw.  We have lost Dembele and Ross we must reinvest and sign experienced, quality striker(s).

dembele was completely raw last season too. ross def needs replacing but then after that we have woody, smith and humphrys all fighting for one spot. need some more wingers so that we can push cairney into aluko's spot should something happen to him

Dembele had a few games under his belt from the year before. He got 2 goals against Derby in the league cup and was part of the 1st team squad most of the season.

[/quote]so a couple of cup games and prancing around with the squad removes your rawness. if you are good enough, it doesnt matter what you have done previously, and how long you have trained with the first team for. we spent most of last year watching crap but experienced players. as with sess, its time to pick players on what they can do, not what they did previously
