Losses widen at Fulham FC on attempts to rejoin Premier League

The cost of Fulham's efforts to get back into the big time were laid bare on Friday, as it revealed losses had nearly doubled amid its pursuit of a Premier League return.

The west London club posted a widening of pre-tax losses to £21.3 million from £12.5 million in the year to June 2017, accounts just filed at Companies House show.

The Cottagers attributed the losses to investing heavily in its squad, signing midfielders Stefan Johansen and Kevin McDonald, and forward Floyd Ayite.

Talented academy players, such as teenager Ryan Sessegnon, have led Slavisa Jokanovic's side's surge up the table this season.

Fulham also said the lower income was due to reduced parachute payments than in previous years since they were relegated from the Premiership in 2014.

The club's turnover decreased 3.1% to £34.9 million.

But Fulham scored bettered in other areas, and cheered a 9.3% jump in average attendance at Craven Cottage to 19,199.

The Cottagers, who last month won planning permission to boost the capacity at the stadium to 29,600 from 25,700, are currently in third position in the Sky Bet Championship.

More to do with the fact that they both wanted to leave

Neither have made much of an impact at their new clubs

Not sure when our financial year end is but these numbers will relate to previous year. Very little of what has happened in this season will have had much effect on these numbers.

It's the end.of June 2017, but they do affect this tear as part of the rolling three year FFP rules. So while this season has no affect on them, they have had an affect due to constraints we have had to work within... If we have.
