Title: Old Sod's Army-No reply.
Post by: bog on May 23, 2020, 01:34:03 PM
Back in our 1 season flirtation with the Premier League 'we' lost 2-0 down the road. In actual fact 'we' played very well that day and twice, with the score at 1-0, Callum Chambers brought two very good saves from 'their' 'keeper. However in the after match chat on MOTD2 not one single word was uttered of Fulham's showing.

In last Saturday's MOTD, as some of us are aware, the 10 best Prem goals were chosen with many other memorable ones being aired. But still no mention of Kasami's at Selhurst Park despite, at the time, being highlighted on the BBC1 news at 1pm the next day. Indeed comparing with Maradona's mazy run v England.

On both occasions I wrote to MOTD inquiring why and on both occasions received in reply.....sod all. I also tried Football Focus to do with the goal...again sod all.      :031: :031:

Just like Fulham Captain, treated with contempt.
I'm absolutely sure any of the "big" team would have been awarded pen when the keeper brought down Maurice Cook way back then. My first experience off bias but certainly not my last.
The list is endless.

I'm usually a big supporter of the BBC having seen what state broadcasters are like elsewhere. However, you will never, ever, get them to admit to a mistake even if they are proven to have got their facts wrong. And the Sport lot are the worst. Well done for trying, though.

On the football news site, every day is virtually about manure, they seem to be buying 200 players this year. But then I know little about football because for the life of me I cannot see what all the fuss is about Pogba?

The BBC have for years if not decades been living off their history and reputation. If one actually looks at their sporting, news and entertainment content. We are left with numerous outlets and minimal output. Their sport is very much run for the popular other than the accurate. They aim to please the bigger audience and clubs. Naturally all the news goes on the big clubs. If one remembers the first English club to reach the Europa Final how little coverage that received as it was not shown on the BBC and frankly pretty much ignored.

I am afraid my feelings foe the BBC has diminished each year I have to spend large amounts of money on a license fee while spending money on Netflix and other streaming services. The BBC is no longer trustworthy when it comes to news anymore than other broadcasters.

Why would the BBC reply to any letters or queries? They already have your money coming in and can and do put out vast amounts of poor journalism and entertainment. But at least they have numerous tv and radio outlets to show it.

What also annoys me is that they laying off a lot of the older experienced reporters of various sports on Radio 5 looking for a younger audience. Why?  On Football Focus yesterday 30 minutes was given over to Jemaine Jenus and his path to becoming a vegan....

True of so many aspects of life. Get rid of the experienced folk who know what they are doing and bring in the yoof to talk about the now.
It's all very sad.

I quite agree, and given their level of journalism exhibited in the articles published, it's pretty obvious they have gone for cheap & cheerful journos over experienced and better paid ones, and sacked all of their proof readers, if the typos and grammar is anything to go by in various stories. My old English Master would have tunneled through to Aussie with the amount of turning he'd have done reading the garbage they put out these days.
