I thought this would be the starting line up. SP in his pressed said the newbies were not quite up to speed. Don´t forget the ones from overseas have had a big upheaval with moving over & settling in, meeting the squad, learning how SP wants to play them. Given 2 weeks & they will all be ready for selection.

"I think we'll finish below Arsenal" - Jamie sticks his neck out and makes a brave prediction.  "We'll have to be a little bit fitter, a little bit stronger, a llttle bit better" - "It would be great if we could nick a  goal back" - Jim spots the secret to success in the Premier League, and identifies how we can get back into this game.  To be fair to both of them, the difficulty with radio commentary is that you have to keep talking.

Odoi doing very well.

not too bad all things considering

just need a bit more bite/effort  up front

ive seen cairney on the ball facing forwards plenty of times and no one is making dangerous runs

we simply need more movement off the ball

This.    Other than a few cracking goals...he doesn't play well in Scott's system.   Replace him with Babel and we'd at least have an attacking threat who can shoot from anywhere.  Old legs or not.

Cav at least tries to beat a man and has the ability AK just runs straight into defenders

I would really give Seri to Galatasaray and buy Babel from them.   He no longer starts for the Netherlands so he shouldn't be that worried about getting   international minutes if we don't stay up.

Babel is waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy more productive than Cav...and even Knock.  Plus he'd be less expensive than younger wingers.

Kamara looks tired after every sprint and he's had better games. Cavaleiro is invisible, but obviously capable performing when receiving the ball.

Time for Mitrovic and Knockaert, we still have 45min to go and their defense isn't very confident.

Not impressed except we are only 1 down,  usual pretty passing system but no attacking force, 2nd half will be different.

We still have Mitro, Anguissa and BDR to bring off the bench.

Can't let what happened in the second half two seasons ago at Craven Cottage happen again.   We've been defensively sound except for Ream not making his clearance.    We need to keep it up.

Decent considering the quality of the opposition. We've stayed in the game and attacked well down the wing. We need to get the ball forward a bit quicker though.

Defensively much room for improvement, we're giving them too much time on the ball and they're playing through us. I'd like to the front three press high, especially against Holding, who isn't as comfortable on the ball.

We're also very exposed on the wing, especially our left wing. More tracking back from the wingers needed, especially Cav.

I'd give it 15 minutes then think about bringing on Mitro and Anguissa for Cav and Cairney.

We are not going to boss possession against Arsenal so the attack is going to look poor for most of the game. That is not to say they are poor because AK is doing well. They are just being starved of the ball.

This is the inequality of the premier league.

We are not doing bad at half time.

very reminiscent of a lot of games last year. Start fairly well, then fail to clear our lines and concede... largely ok passing the ball around in a stagnant side to side manor but with very little speed or forward momentum. Zero incisive runs splitting the defence. Very devoid of creativity. Pretty dull stuff really. That said, we're playing arsenal and not being outplayed yet which is something. 0-1 down at half time could have been much worse. Think we're not only calling out for another good CB but also could really do with a better creative winger or CAM than Cav/Knock/Kebano/Cairney and a high quality CF. Especially if Mitro is an injury concern.

We don't look much like creating anything at the moment. Hopefully Parker can change that at half time
As a side note Harrison Reed also having a bit of a poor game by his standards, hopefully it's just first day nerves and he can be as important to us this season as he was last.

From the BBC website: Fulham have only come from behind to win one of their last 51 Premier League games when trailing at half-time (D5 L45), beating Brighton 4-2 in January 2019.

We have Kebano and Cav as our wingers.   Not expecting many goals with those two and no Mitro.

Agreed.   Structurally sound.

Then again...Michael Hector is a better CB than anyone else Fulham have had in the past 3 seasons.    I hope we can get a good partner for him.   I do think Tim Ream is an adequate 3rd CB though.   Other than the  lack of clearance (which should have been easy) he's been ok.

Kebano is on the wrong side, much more effective on the left. He's looking dangerous and beating players, just needs to get some shots in. We're yet to see the best of AK, I expect more from him.

It was important we stayed in the game after conceding early on and we've done that. It's difficult to see how we're going to score, but Odoi has worked well with Kebano to create a couple of crossing opportunities so maybe someone will get on the end of one. I think we've done okay. It won't be easy to do better in the second half but we have to give it a go at some point.

Odoi and Cairney very good. Front three good in the press but a bit lacking going forward. Reed good defensively but sloppy with ball a few key times, Onomah good in the press and with the ball, but lost Xhaka a few times so needs to pay attention. Defense except Odoi only average but not bad (except Reams really poor ‘clearance’). Rodak ok.

We will all move on soon enough. If they were really serious, they would refuse to play and not take their wages until whatever change they are wanting was given to them. Taking a knee was not a well thought through protest. Destined to fail. Let's see what Anguissa can do.  Key player this year

first thing he did was pass the ball to them in a dangerous area?

Why is it that, whenever we cock-up we get punished, and other teams seem to get away with it?

The answer is in the question itself.

When I saw the fixture list I actually quite welcomed it and thought a very probable tonking against Arsenal in the first day would be very good for us, and then we have 8 or 9 games against lesser teams where we can / have to really make our points.

This is a good wake up call, so long as we learn things from it.

I'd consider taking Hector off, this ref will book him for the slightest foul.

This.

Arsenal are the best team we'll face for a month.    We need to learn from it, vet in better players at certain positions.

Both Cav and Kebano can be upgraded.   They aren't starters in the EPL.

We do not have the intensity or the chasing down for a team battling against relegation. Need to work far harder in these games.

Clearly a step up. These games were almost always going to end in 0 points.

That said, we do need an attitude change. There are fewer games in the PL and we can up the intensity. We also have a decent sized squad ie Knockaert and D Reid to come on if our wingers tire.. so should chase the ball down more.

Playing out from the back in the PL plays into teams like Arsenal’s hands. It just looks out of place. We can do it against teams like Villa but not the top sides. Need to pivot off Mitrovic.

Interesting glimpse of Anguissa. Confidence and an intriguing willingness to give and go outside the box.

Think it’s a bad start for Ream who was already on borrowed time in the first team and needed some good performances to cling on.

Hector off the pace today.

Decent performances otherwise.

Yes it’s Arsenal but I was hoping for more than this.

This looks exactly like the last ride in the Premier League. This Squad needs quality desperately.

Kenny Tete is an ok signing and is a good RB defensively. Fulham need more than one quality defensive signing and at least some creativity up front. Kamara will not perform at this level.

Midfield is decent if Scott can add some quality in offense and defense. If not the destination will be Championship next season

Van someone explain to an outsider why Fulham is not spending the promotion money?

Teams that get overawed by Arsenal go down. How many years does this need to be shown? On average they should beat us, but it shouldn't be this easy.

Enjoy the process of trying to stay in the Premier League as a newly promoted team.

Why is FFC not spending all the promotion money? FFP and they have a budget. Also although we "desperately" need quality players, it is hard for Fulham to recruit quality players.
