Bryan 'agrees new Fulham deal'

Joe Bryan has agreed terms with Fulham over a new 'long-term contract' to keep him at Craven Cottage, according to a report in the Athletic this morning.

The former Bristol City left-back, who memorably scored twice in Fulham's extra-time play-off final victory over Brentford at Wembley last month, had been heavily linked with a move away throughout the summer. A number of Premier League sides were rumoured to be interested in signing the 26 year-old, including Leeds United, West Brom, Leicester City and Newcastle United. They believed they might be able to tempt Fulham into selling their first-choice left back following Antonee Robinson's move from Wigan Athletic, but Scott Parker made it clear that he wanted to keep Bryan at the club.

Bryan, who has made 81 appearances for the Whites since signing from Bristol City for around £6m in August 2018, started Fulham's 3-0 defeat at the hands of Arsenal on Saturday and was keen to commit his future to the Cottagers. The attacking full-back had two years to run on his previous deal and this move is consistent with Fulham's desire to reward their promotion heroes for their efforts in returning to the top flight at the first time of asking.

All in the Game: Michael Hector's long road to the top
Cristiano Ronaldo missing the buzz of the crowd, unlucky Celtic fan draws a blank

Michael Hector's long road to the top
When Michael Hector made his Premier League debut for Fulham on Saturday it completed what must surely be the longest ever journey to playing in England's top flight.

Hector's first professional club was Reading from where he was sent on loan to ....... ready? ...... Bracknell Town, Didcot Town, Havant & Waterlooville, Oxford City, Horsham, Dundalk, Barnet, Shrewsbury Town, Aldershot Town, Cheltenham Town and Aberdeen.

Then, someone bizarrely, he was signed by Chelsea who sent him on loan to Aberdeen, Reading, Eintracht Frankfurt, Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday, before he joined Fulham in a permanent deal last January. Hector has, then, had spells with 17 clubs (two with Aberdeen) since 2009, has played in four countries and 10 different divisions.

While that 3-0 defeat by Arsenal didn't make it an ideal debut, Hector's nickname suggests he should be a decent enough defender for them this season. What is it? Virgil van Mike.

Report: Leeds United interest set to be snubbed as player nears new club agreement

Leeds United's interest in signing Fulham left-back Joe Bryan has been dealt a blow with the play-off hero expected to sign a new contract at Craven Cottage shortly.

The Cottagers put up a good fight for automatic promotion last season behind Leeds, eventually finishing in fourth place, before toppling Brentford in the final thanks to two extra-time strikes from the left-back, Bryan.

A sublime free-kick that caught out David Raya from range opened the scoring before some great work in and around the box saw him through to calmly slot home a second at Wembley.

Both Fulham and Leeds have seen their Premier League campaigns get off to defeats in contrasting manners as Fulham were thumped 3-0 by Arsenal while the Whites fell to a late second penalty to lose 4-3 at Anfield.

Leeds haven't been too hot on their pursuit of a new left-back this season given the electric form of Stuart Dallas in the last 12 months, but more depth seems to be the priority for Marcelo Bielsa in his defence.

With Barry Douglas' long-term future also uncertain at Elland Road, it might be a case of Marcelo Bielsa adding another name to the squad to cover for that eventuality.

Links to Joe Bryan from Fulham have always been present and it stands to reason too with how he likes to play on the left side, but Leeds (among the others keen) look set to be dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of him.

The Athletic are reporting that Bryan is set to sign a new deal at Fulham in the coming days, putting an end to any speculation over his future this transfer window, with Leeds namechecked as having an interest in the 26-year-old.

We could do with another left-back going forward because at present we only have Stuart Dallas that has shown consistency at both ends of the pitch whilst playing there.

However, it's been clear that while Leeds have been keen on Bryan, they haven't pushed the boat out to bring him to West Yorkshire or we'd have seen a firm bid of some sort.

After the performance at Anfield, you've got to give the current Leeds defence a second crack at the whip after conceding four goals, none of which came from open play, as Dallas was tasked with the seemingly impossible job of halting Mohamed Salah.

Up next for Leeds is Bryan's Fulham and we'll be hoping for a repeat of the recent Championship clash where the Fulham left-back had a torrid time, as Leeds hit three all coming down his flank.

Joe Bryan Extends Fulham Deal

We are pleased to announce that Joe Bryan has agreed a contract extension, keeping him at Fulham until the summer of 2023.

The Club also holds an option to extend the deal by a further 12 months.

"I'm obviously delighted to commit a couple more years to the Club," Bryan said. "We're in the Premier League now so it's nice to be able to give myself more time to develop and prove myself as a Premier League player.

"We came together as a team last year and it was nice to be able to repay a bit of the faith that the Club and supporters have shown in me during my time here, by helping the Club back into this league.

"Now it's about improvement and making the step up again, to try and become an established Premier League team."

Tony Khan also commented: "I'm thrilled to announce that we've signed Joe Bryan to a contract extension! Joe has made many great contributions at Fulham, but his greatest contributions were at Wembley Stadium as in spectacular fashion he scored both of our goals in our Play-Off Final win.

"Joe is still a young player and we believe that Joe's best football is ahead of him, and I'm excited to extend his stay with us! Come on Fulham!"

Bryan arrived at Craven Cottage on deadline day ahead of our previous Premier League campaign, and has now racked up 79 appearances in his two years at the Club.

He was an integral performer in our promotion back to the top flight last season, providing a regular stream of assists from left-back, predominantly for Aleksandar Mitrović, and was named in the Championship Team of the Year alongside Mitro.

But it was last month when Bryan wrote himself into the Fulham history books, scoring both goals in the 2020 Championship Play-Off Final to win promotion for his side at the expense of local rivals Brentford.

His free-kick to open the scoring at Wembley ended up winning the Club's Goal of the Season vote by a landslide, while he also came fifth in our Player of the Season ballot.

Odoi signs new two-year Fulham contract

Defender Denis Odoi has signed a new two-year contract with Fulham, the club have confirmed this morning.

The Belgian international will remain at Craven Cottage until at least 2022, with the club holding an option to extend that deal by a further year. The 32 year-old, who has twice won promotion from the Championship, has made 134 appearances across five seasons with the Whites, memorably scoring the winner in the 2018 Championship play-off semi-final against Derby County.

Speaking to FFCTV, Odoi said:

I'm happy, as it's given me this season and next season guaranteed at the club. I'm enjoying my life here, so I'm really happy that I can stay here an extra two years.

Odoi started Fulham's opening game of the season – a 3-0 defeat by Arsenal on Saturday.

Fulham XI vs Ipswich: Confirmed team news, predicted lineup, latest injuries for Carabao Cup match

Fulham quartet Alphonse Areola, Kenny Tete, Mario Lemina and Ola Aina are all pushing to make their debuts against Ipswich Town on Wednesday.

The four summer signings missed Saturday's opening Premier League defeat to Arsenal as they have only just moved to Craven Cottage.

They are, however, hoping to feature at League One Ipswich in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday and striker Aleksandar Mitrovic and midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, who both played just under 30 minutes off the bench at the weekend, are likely to play some part too.

"This game [against Arsenal] came too early for those players - Alphonse [Areola], Lemina, the two boys [Kenny Tete & Ola Aina] we literally just signed," said Fulham head coach Scott Parker.

"They probably fit into the same category as Mitro. I'm pleased that he got 30 minutes, along with Anguissa, and on Wednesday we can get some more minutes into these players."

Odoi's Contract Extension

The Club is delighted to announce that Denis Odoi has agreed a contract extension.

The defender has put pen to paper on an additional two years, with an option for a further 12 months. The new deal will keep Denis at the Club until at least the summer of 2022.

Upon signing, Odoi told FFCtv: "I'm happy, as it's given me this season and next season guaranteed at the Club. I'm enjoying my life here, so I'm really happy that I can stay here an extra two years."

Tony Khan added: "I'm glad to announce that Denis has signed a contact extension to stay with Fulham for at least two more years. Denis has played a big part in both of our promotions in the past few years, and he is a great competitor with a tremendous work ethic so I'm very pleased to extend his contract. Come on Fulham!"

A versatile member of the squad, Odoi played an integral part as Fulham won promotion back to the Premier League last season.

The Belgian, who has now been promoted twice with the Club, has made 134 appearances for the Whites, making his debut in memorable fashion in 2016 versus Newcastle United. A sublime piece of skill to control the ball off his back on a marauding attack up the right wing a taster of what was to come.

Now in his fifth season, Odoi's presence off the pitch is as influential as it is on, with his regular ambassadorial work for the Fulham FC Foundation an example of his character.

Bryan signs three-year Fulham contract

Joe Bryan has signed a new three-year deal with Fulham, the club have confirmed this afternoon.

The former Bristol City left back, who fired the Whites back into the Premier League with a memorable brace in the Championship play-off final against Brentford last month, had been a transfer target for a number of top flight clubs after Fulham brought in Antonee Robinson from Wigan Athletic earlier this summer. But Scott Parker made it clear that he wanted Bryan to stay and the 26 year-old was also keen to cement his future at Craven Cottage.

Bryan will remain with Fulham until at least 2023, with the Whites holding an option to extend this deal by a further year. He told the club's official website:

I'm obviously delighted to commit a couple more years to the club. We're in the Premier League now so it's nice to be able to give myself more time to develop and prove myself as a Premier League player. We came together as a team last year and it was nice to be able to repay a bit of the faith that the club and supporters have shown in me during my time here, by helping the club back into this league. Fulham hand Joe Bryan, Josh Onomah and Denis Odoi new contracts

Hero: Joe Bryan ( PA )

Fulham have handed new contracts to Joe Bryan, Josh Onomah and Denis Odoi.

Play-off final hero Bryan and former Tottenham man Onomah have both penned new deals running until 2023, with Odoi committing for two more years. All three deals leave Fulham with the option to extend by a further 12 months.

Bryan scored both goals as Fulham beat Brentford in the Championship play-off final last month to secure promotion back to the Premier League. The full-backlhas since been linked with a move away, though, with Leeds United and Leicester City credited with an interest in him.

Regarding Onomah, Fulham's director of football operations, Tony Khan said: "Josh played a major role in our promotion, he has quickly become part of our Fulham family, I'm thrilled to extend his contract, and we all hope and expect that he'll continue to contribute to our success in the Premier League."

Onomah, 23, said: "I'm delighted. It's always been my dream to play in the Prem properly, and I feel like I have the chance to do that here at Fulham. From the first minute I walked in I felt the love from the players, staff, fans, everyone involved with Fulham Football Club.

"I'm just going to keep going, this is just the start."

Odoi has played 134 times for the club since the 32-year-old Belgian arrived from Lokeren in 2016.

He said: "I'm happy, as it's given me this season and next season guaranteed at the club. I'm enjoying my life here, so I'm really happy that I can stay here an extra two years."

Denis Odoi and Joe Bryan Agree New Deals With Fulham

Fulham have confirmed that Denis Odoi and Joe Bryan have agreed to extend their contracts at Craven Cottage.

Odoi has signed a new two-year deal, while Championship play-off final hero Bryan has agreed to stay for a further three years.

Fulham Duo Denis Odoi and Joe Bryan Sign New Deals
Denis Odoi: A Vital Part of the Squad

32-year-old Odoi has won promotion with Fulham twice now, both via the Championship play-offs.

The second and most recent one rounded off a remarkable four seasons with the Cottagers. His versatility – Odoi can operate as a full-back as well as central defender – meant he was a useful addition to Scott Parer's side last season.

As a result, Fulham have been keen to keep the Belgian at Craven Cottage. Speaking to the official Fulham website, Tony Khan said: "I'm glad to announce that Denis has signed a contact extension to stay with Fulham for at least two more years. Denis has played a big part in both of our promotions in the past few years, and he is a great competitor with a tremendous work ethic so I'm very pleased to extend his contract."

Odoi added: "I'm happy, as it's given me this season and next season guaranteed at the Club. I'm enjoying my life here, so I'm really happy that I can stay here an extra two years."

Play-Off Final Hero Extends His Stay
Left-back Joe Bryan proved to be the unlikely hero to help Fulham seal promotion. His brace in the play-off final, including an outstanding free-kick, saw the Cottagers defeat West London rival Brentford.

As a result of his performances last season and commitment to the club, Bryan has agreed a new deal. Scott Parker is keeping faith in Bryan as Fulham return to the Premier League; the 26-year-old started their 3-0 defeat to Arsenal at the weekend, and is the first-choice left-back at Craven Cottage.

Speaking about his new contract, Bryan said: ""I'm obviously delighted to commit a couple more years to the club.

Josh Onomah Joins Duo in Extending
Fulham have also tied down midfielder Josh Onomah to a new contract.

Like Bryan, the 23-year-old has signed a new three-year deal. Onomah made 31 appearances for Fulham last season, scoring three goals and registering three assists.

Speaking about his new deal, Onomah said: "I'm delighted. It's always been my dream to play in the Prem properly, and I feel like I have the chance to do that here at Fulham.

"Thankfully I've been offered a new contract which is amazing, especially after the season we had. It shows the faith and trust that the Club has in me, and that's what you need as a player.

"From the first minute I walked in I felt the love from the players, staff, fans, everyone involved with Fulham Football Club. I'm just going to keep going, this is just the start."

Fulham trio sign new contracts

Joe Bryan, Josh Onomah and Dennis Odoi have signed new Fulham contracts.

The contracts of Bryan and Onomah have been extended to 2023 and Odoi's to 2022. All three deals include the option of a further year.

Bryan was the hero of Fulham's play-off triumph against Brentford at Wembley, where his two extra-time goals took the Whites back to the Premier League.

"I'm obviously delighted to commit a couple more years to the club," Bryan told Fulham's website.

"We're in the Premier League now so it's nice to be able to give myself more time to develop and prove myself as a Premier League player.

Onomah agrees Fulham contract extension

Midfielder Josh Onomah has extended his contract with Fulham until the summer of 2023, the club have confirmed this afternoon.

The former Tottenham midfielder was one of Fulham's most consistent performers following the coronavirus lockdown and scored a sensational individual goal at Cardiff City in the play-off semi-final first leg that set up Fulham's progress. Onomah has blossomed under the management of Scott Parker and told Fulham's official website that he was delighted to extend his stay at Craven Cottage:

I'm delighted. It's always been my dream to play in the Prem[ier League] properly, and I feel like I have the chance to do that here at Fulham. Thankfully, I've been offered a new contract which is amazing, especially after the season we had. It shows the faith and trust that the club has in me, and that's what you need as a player. Onomah's new deal includes an option for Fulham to extend his contract by another year.

Town set to face £18m midfielder and World Cup winner in Fulham clash

Premier League Fulham look set to hand debuts to four summer signings against Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Wednesday night - including an £18m midfielder and a World Cup winner.

The Cottagers visit Suffolk for a second round clash in the Carabao Cup, having lost their opening top flight game 3-0 at home to Arsenal on Saturday.

And it seems that Scott Parker's side will be boosted by a quartet of debutants, with keeper Alphonse Areola, defender Kenny Tete, midfielder Mario Lemina and wing back Ola Aina all in line to make their first starts.

French World Cup winner Areola signed from PSG in the summer, with Tete a £3m signing from Lyon and Lemina and Aina coming in on loan from Southampton and Torino respectively.

Lemina cost the Saints £18m when he signed from Juventus in 2017.

Striker Aleksandar Mitrovic and midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, who both played just under 30 minutes off the bench at the weekend, are likely to play some part too.

Parker said: "This game (against Arsenal) came too early for those players - Alphonse (Areola), Lemina, the two boys (Kenny Tete & Ola Aina) we literally just signed.

"They probably fit into the same category as Mitro. I'm pleased that he got 30 minutes, along with Anguissa, and on Wednesday we can get some more minutes into these players."

Wednesday's game kicks off at 7pm.

Extended Deal For Onomah

We are pleased to announce that Josh Onomah has signed a contract extension until the summer of 2023.

The Club also has an option to extend the deal by a further year.

After signing, Onomah said: "I'm delighted.

And Tony Khan added: "I'm very excited to announce that Josh Onomah has signed a contract extension to the summer of 2023, with an option.

"Josh played a major role in our promotion, he has quickly become part of our Fulham family, I'm thrilled to extend his contract, and we all hope and expect that he'll continue to contribute to our success in the Premier League! Come on Fulham!"

Scott Parker had been a long time fan of Onomah's, having worked with him at Tottenham Hotspur, and his faith in the midfielder certainly paid dividends in his maiden season.

Having worked his way into the starting XI, Onomah's performances improved with every appearance he made in black and white, with his first goal arriving in style to see off Leeds United in December.

Towards the end of the campaign he had become one of the first names on the teamsheet, with his form post-lockdown one of the key components of Fulham's promotion.

He hit three goals when football resumed, including a stunning solo effort in the first Play-Off match in Cardiff which will forever be fondly remembered by the Fulham faithful.

Onomah was also a key performer in the Final at Wembley, causing the Brentford defence no end of problems with his bursts from midfield, and finished second only to match-winner Joe Bryan in the Man of the Match voting for that game.

Denis Odoi will be staying at Craven Cottage

Fulham trio Denis Odoi, Joe Bryan and Josh Onomah have all agreed contract extensions.

Right-back Odoi, 32, has committed himself until the summer of 2022, while left-back Bryan and midfielder Onomah have signed new deals until 2023. All three have the option for a 12-month extension.

The trio all started Fulham's Premier League opening-day defeat to Arsenal on Saturday as well as last month's Sky Bet Championship final victory over Brentford as the club made their return to the top flight.

Josh Onomah, along with Odoi and Joe Bryan, started last month's play-off final win

Fulham signed Kenny Tete from Lyon, Harrison Reed from Southampton and left-back Antonee Robinson from Wigan permanently this summer and brought in Anthony Knockaert, who impressed on loan last season.

The Premier League new boys, back at the first time of asking following relegation in 2018/19, also secured season-long loan deals for Mario Lemina, goalkeeper Alphonse Areola and most recently right-back Ola Aina.

"I'm happy, as it's given me this season and next season guaranteed at the club," Odoi, who has made 134 appearances for Fulham since joining from Lokeren in 2016, told the club's official website after signing his extension.

"I'm enjoying my life here, so I'm really happy that I can stay here an extra two years."

Bryan, 26, who was instrumental in Fulham's promotion last season and scored twice in the final victory over Brentford, said: "I'm obviously delighted to commit a couple more years to the club.

Onomah, 23, who joined from Tottenham last year, added: "I'm delighted.

Fulham make announcement on one-cap player; club learning from Jokanović era

Fulham have announced Denis Odoi has signed a two-year contract extension, with the option of a further 12 months.

The one-cap Belgian international started the club's Premier League opener against Arsenal on Saturday after making 37 appearances last term as Fulham earned promotion.

Odoi is in his fifth season at Craven Cottage and has made 134 appearances for the Londoners.

Some Fulham supporters might argue the club needs to sign a replacement for the 31-year-old.

They could justify that claim by pointing out Odoi played 31 times in Fulham's last Premier League stint and was a key part of a defence that conceded a league-high 81 goals.

However, that wouldn't be fair on the versatile defender.

While it is normal to strive for more, Fulham have made a fine decision in rewarding Odoi for his hard work. In turn, it looks as if they're learning from their top-flight period under Slaviša Jokanović.

Under the Serbian, Fulham failed to reward such commitment.

Instead, they spent more than £100 million on new recruits. Marcus Bettinelli, who was dropped from the first matchday squad of the campaign in favour of new signings Fabri and Sergio Rico, is a prime example of poor treatment at the previous regime.

Under Scott Parker, however, things look different.

Yes, Odoi perhaps isn't the colossal defender Fulham fans are crying out for but he's a fine character who carries out ambassadorial work for the Fulham FC Foundation and deserves to be treated with respect.

Why the £3m arrival of this 24-year-old Ligue 1 star is a welcome boost for Fulham

Why the arrival of Kenny Tete comes as a massive boost for Fulham

According to Sky Sports, Premier League newcomers Fulham have completed the signing of Dutch international right-back Kenny Tete from Lyon for a fee of £3million.

As per the report, the 24-year-old has put pen to paper on a four-year deal with the Cottagers, with Fulham holding the option to extend his stay by a further 12 months.

Tete has expressed his delight after securing a move to Craven Cottage while assuring the fans that he will give his 100% to try and help the club preserve their Premier League status. (h/t Sky Sports)

Profile

Born in Amsterdam, Kenny Tete rose through the youth ranks of Ajax and initially featured for the club's reserve side in the second tier before making his competitive debut for the first-team during the 2014-15 season.

The 24-year-old made 55 appearances for the Eredivisie giants across all competitions, guiding his boyhood club to the 2016-17 Europa League final before departing for Lyon in the summer of 2017.

Tete struggled to establish himself as an undisputed starter in France due to stiff competition for places but he still managed 80 appearances for Lyon in all competitions across three seasons, scoring once and supplying nine assists.

He featured sporadically last term, starting nine times in Ligue 1 and just once in the club's march to the semi-finals of the Champions League. A full international for the Netherlands since 2015, Tete has 13 senior caps to his name so far.

Tete should add some real quality to Fulham's backline

Fulham have adopted a really smart approach in the transfer window this summer, adding some important players to their squad without spending an awful lot of cash.

The Cottagers have completed permanent deals for last season's loanees, Anthony Knockaert and Harrison Reed. They have also up full-backs Antonee Robinson and Kenny Tete for thrifty amounts in the market. Alphonse Areola and Ola Aina have been roped in on loan deals to add more cover between the sticks and at right-back.

Tete has plenty of top-flight experience in the Netherlands and France, while also boasting of considerable exposure in the Europa League and Champions League. That, coupled with his status as a Dutch international, means that the 24-year-old has the right kind of CV to slot seamlessly into a club of Fulham's stature in the Premier League.

The Dutchman comes through the door an instant upgrade on the likes of Dennis Odoi and Cyrus Christie, both of whom struggled to cope with the intensity of the top-flight during Fulham's relegated 2018-19 campaign.

It will be interesting to see him compete with former Chelsea star Ola Aina for a regular starting role on the right-hand side of Fulham's backline. Both tick plenty of boxes as exciting young attack-minded full-backs and such competition for places could be a real asset to any promoted club.

Verdict

Lack of defensive stability was one of the major contributing factors behind Fulham's relegation from the top-flight back in 2018-19. The club's transfer business this summer clearly shows that they have learned from their mistakes.

Kenny Tete looks more than capable of adding a lot of quality to the Cottagers backline and still has his best years ahead of him. With that in mind, the Dutch international's modest-looking £3million price tag could well make him a bargain for Fulham if he manages to prove his credentials in English football.

Fulham trio including play-off hero Joe Bryan sign contract extensions at Craven Cottage

The trio were key players in the successful promotion campaign

Fulham have announced contract extensions for Joe Bryan, Denis Odoi and Josh Onomah.

Bryan, scorer of a brace in the Cottagers' 2-1 Championship play-off final victory over Brentford in August, and Onomah have agreed deals running to the summer of 2023.

For Odoi, the contract runs for the next two years, and in all three cases there is the option for a further 12 months.

Bryan, 26, joined Fulham in the summer of 2018 from Bristol City and has gone on to make 79 appearances.

He told FFCtv: "I'm obviously delighted to commit a couple more years to the club. We're in the Premier League now so it's nice to be able to give myself more time to develop and prove myself as a Premier League player.

"We came together as a team last year and it was nice to be able to repay a bit of the faith that the club and supporters have shown in me during my time here, by helping the club back into this league.

"Now it's about improvement and making the step up again, to try and become an established Premier League team."

Odoi has played 134 times for the club since the 32-year-old Belgian arrived from Lokeren in 2016.

Odoi said: "I'm happy, as it's given me this season and next season guaranteed at the club. I'm enjoying my life here, so I'm really happy that I can stay here an extra two years."

Fulham's director of football operations Tony Khan said: "Joe has made many great contributions at Fulham, but his greatest contributions were at Wembley Stadium as in spectacular fashion he scored both of our goals in our play-off final win.

"Joe is still a young player and we believe that Joe's best football is ahead of him, and I'm excited to extend his stay with us.

"Denis has played a big part in both of our promotions in the past few years, and he is a great competitor with a tremendous work ethic so I'm very pleased to extend his contract.

"Josh played a major role in our promotion, he has quickly become part of our Fulham family. I'm thrilled to extend his contract, and we all hope and expect that he'll continue to contribute to our success in the Premier League."

Onomah, 23, added: "I'm delighted. It's always been my dream to play in the Prem properly, and I feel like I have the chance to do that here at Fulham. From the first minute I walked in I felt the love from the players, staff, fans, everyone involved with Fulham Football Club. I'm just going to keep going, this is just the start."

'Premier League player': £15m man is too good for Aston Villa and Fulham according to former teammate

Bournemouth forward Josh King can afford to aim a little higher than Aston Villa and Fulham as he weighs up a return to the Premier League, former teammate Danny Murphy tells talkSPORT (14 September, 12.10pm).

With just three weeks left in the transfer window, a man who was on the verge of a big-money move to Manchester United just eight months ago is facing up to the very real prospect of finding himself stuck in the Championship.

A move to Newcastle appears to have passed King by, with the Magpies snapping up two of his former Bournemouth colleagues instead: Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, appear to be focusing elsewhere too, holding talks with Lyon winger Bertrand Traore and Werder Bremen talisman Milot Rashica (Express and Star).

But Murphy, the former England international who shared a dressing room with King at Blackburn Rovers, is confident that his former teammate has a lot to offer at the top level.

"He's was a very humble, nice lad, a realist and wasn't above his station at all," Murphy says.

"He's done a very good job at Bournemouth, he's had a few injuries here and there but I think when someone's got that pace, I'd be surprised if there wasn't someone willing to take him and I think that will happen.

"He's a Premier League player."

Murphy did suggest, however, that King can afford to aim higher than a newly-promoted Fulham side or a Villa team who were forced to wait until the final few minutes of last season to secure their Premier League status.

"I think he is (better than Villa and Fulham). But (Villa) could do with him."

The Sun (13 September, page 61) reports that Fulham and Aston Villa would have to pay £15 million for King, who has lost his number seven shirt to David Brooks at Bournemouth.

Everton are keen too. But, after Richarlison, James Rodriguez and match-winner Dominic Calvert-Lewin shone at Spurs, there is no obvious place for him in Carlo Ancelotti's XI.
