Jamie and Jim talking about it being a shame about Drinkwater and that the guy deserves a break essentially and wishing him the best to get back to what he was a few years ago

Jamie said he didnt know what happened to him--if anyones wondering--alcohol, late night clubbing, bar fights and DUI's happened

Have to say that was a good goal, perfect finish. Was easy for them to break though, perhaps Robinson should have taken the yellow for a tactical foul further up.

Time to score 4 again  049:gif

They working with the big money companies such as Sky in eliminating the people who host streams to the hundreds of thousands if not millions of watcher worldwide.

The watcher has nothing to worry about.

Seems like complacency  by the players.

I don't get the feeling that Cav is a good 'team' footballer.  Very Anthony Knockhearterish.

His thought process looks more #9.

And Bobby...needs to be a better finisher.

We really do miss Fabio.   Finishing...and movement.

They scored a good goal and are now sitting back in a bank of 4 and 5 and trying to hit us on the counter. We're struggling to break them down. Saying that Bobby has missed 3 good chances and Mitro hit the bar right on HT

Another miss! Time for Silva to work his magic. We sound to need to strengthen in midfield with some defensive cover for Seri. Cav not contributing (unless someone watching knows different) - maybe Kebano or Muniz?

Sub Kebano for Cav...then...if we can't score...

I don't know.   I'm hoping that at some point Quina will be able to play in the 10...but maybe bring on Onomah.

Muniz is a #9...and I've never seen him drive at a defender...so I don't know if we can sub Cav for Muniz.

So true. That is who Dennis is though. If you put him in the squad, you know he is going to score the odd goal and fail to close down oncoming attackers. Seen Dennis in a nutshell over the past 2 games.

Robinson with a couple very good feeds which should have resulted in assists/goals.  Free header BDR 6 yards out muffed and Mitro with the crossbar.  AR improving his crosses, etc

As soon as the ball broke from our pressure it was almost certain reading we’re going to score. Other than that it looks as if our efforts are being wasted by complacency in finishing.

I'm just happy to get the stream.  Frustrating game so far.  FFC has had chances.  BDR, Mitro just couldn't finish.  Credit to Reading, their goal was an excellent shot, can't fault Gazz on that one....

We stopped playing my least favorite attacking player (Knock)...now I want us to stop playing my second least favorite.

It's the Championship.   If we aren't taking our chances (Blackpool, Reading) we can lose.

We shouldn't be allowing more than one goal with our defense...but if we aren't scoring...

seems a bit light.

Tim Ream's pass. Why.

Really good teams just don't lose like this.  We all got so excited at the start of the season.  Team to crush them all, etc.  This is cold water in the face.

Bournemouth about to win and be top and undefeated. And we lose to f*cking Reading. West Brom still undefeated. Coventry drawing. Champ winning teams don't perform like this.

I know people won't like this, but its true. Teams who finish in the top 2 don't lose to Blackpool, bounce back to beat Birmingham comprehensively, but then lose to Reading at home. We have all the makings of another Slavisa 3rd-6th finish which ultimately, is a failure with this squad.

Well...we know Reading have a player that plays on the left that is better than him.

Forest are having a crap season, but they've got an attacking player I'd take over him.

I don't rate Cav at all.

So we're not quite as good as we thought. Never mind, I still prefer Silva's approach. It seems that there are areas that we can strengthen in due course. Defensively we aren't as watertight as we should be and our finishing today at least was not sharp enough. I think our tactics were questionable as well; Reading were set up to counter-attack and we allowed ourselves to be pulled forward.

Is it coincidence that our two poorest finishing games had Cav starting on the left?

Blackpool...now Reading...

We fell behind and had to break open teams...yet we don't have the quality (apparently) to break down teams.  And imo Cav contributes to that.   I don't think he's the level of 'team' player that we need starting.

Impact player...but no way should he be playing 90 minutes.
Title: Re: Reading (H) 15:00 Sat 18 Sep
Post by: Caedal on September 18, 2021, 05:06:45 PM
Their second goal was extremely poorly defended. We were basically playing with 10 men with Cav on the pitch, one of the all time worst performances. We missed far too many clear chances.

The way we play, we really struggle when we go behind and the other team just sits back, it would almost be better to let them attack us a bit to try and counter them.

We can't really blame refs for todays results. Its was a Luke warm performance and diabolical finishing. I can't believe this side to be honest. Every time you think they're going on to big things or turning a corner, they finish like a side devoid of confidence and let in such pathetic goals.

Now we have an ex manager, unbeaten, top of the league having gained points on us when our last 3 fixtures were Blackpool, Birmingham and Reading. Thats shocking however you want to gloss it up.

You're not wrong.

Unfortunately...if a team can take Mitro AND Wilson out of the game...and we don't have our midfield key (Fabio)...I'm not sure we have enough movement or quality finishers (BDR, Cav) to come from behind.

Leeds up next.
