Fulham looks to South American starlet for help with for Premier League promotion

Fulham is heading to the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League. It seems as though the London-based club is betting on young South American talent to help with a promotion.

According to Brazilian media outlet O Dia, Fulham has offered an official bid to sign Flamengo striker Rodrigo Muniz. The English club is reportedly trying to sign the player on loan with an option to buy.

The report states that Fulham wants to pay €1-million for the loan and then have a clause to make the signing permanent for €9-million.

Furthermore, Fulham isn't the only club eyeing the player as Flamengo accepted a bid of €5-million from Genk. However, Muniz didn't find a personal agreement with the Belgian side.

The Brazilian club demands €8-million for the 20-year-old. It will be interesting to see whether Fulham's offer is accepted by Flamengo as the English club prepares for their 2021-22 season in the Championship.

Fulham suffer frustrating blow as club responds to offer for transfer target

Fulham have seen their offer to sign Flamengo forward Rodrigo Muniz on a loan-to-buy deal rejected by the Brazilian club who are only wanting a permanent exit this summer, according to Brazilian outlet O Dia

It was reported by O Dia that Fulham had made an offer of around €1 million (£856,000) to take him on loan for the campaign.

While Marco Silva's side were also thought to have included a fixed permanent offer of around €9 million (£7.7 million) that would have come into force next summer.

However, according to the latest report from O Dia, Flamengo have now decided to turn down that offer and they are only wanting to sort out a permanent deal for the 20-year-old this summer, rather than allowing him to leave on loan for the campaign.

The report adds that Muniz is interested in the approach after holding talks with Fulham. It also reveals that Al Nasr have entered the race for the forward and have managed to agree personal terms with the 20-year-old.

It is believed that Flamengo are going to ask for around €8 million (£6.8 million) to make the move happen this summer.

The Verdict

This is a major blow for Fulham and Silva will be frustrated that his side now might miss out on the signing of a key transfer target.

It remains to be seen whether they will be able to come in with a straight permanent offer for Muniz this summer, but there will have been a reason why they were wanting to agree a loan-to-buy deal for him as opposed to a straight permanent one.

Silva clearly feels that Muniz is a player he can work with and develop in a similar way that he managed to do with Richarlison at Watford and then Everton.

If he could be as big of a hit as the forward has been in England then Fulham should just back their manager and do what they can to make sure that he arrived on a permanent deal.

It seems that Al Nasr could be edging ahead in the race for Muniz and Fulham will have to now step up their interest in the 20-year-old or risk losing him. In a few years, they might look back on this situation with regret if they opt against a permanent transfer this summer for him.

Shirt numbers available to Harry Wilson as Liverpool man edges closer to £12m Fulham move

The Welsh international is poised to depart Anfield and looks set to join the EFL Championship Cottagers

Liverpool's Harry Wilson is on the verge of a switch to Championship side Fulham.

The Wales international has been linked with numerous moves this summer, including former loan club Cardiff City as well as Portuguese giants Benfica.

But it is Fulham, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, who have won the race.

The Cottagers are said to be putting the finishing touches to a deal worth £12million.

Wilson has been part of Liverpool's training camp out in Austria but was not involved in Friday's friendly win over Mainz. But news broke today that Wilson has been given permission to leave the camp and finalise his move to London.

He has only ever made two senior appearances for Liverpool; both came in domestic cup competitions.

He has spent five separate spells away from Anfield on loan, playing in three different divisions for Crewe, Hull, Derby, Bournemouth and Cardiff respectively.

With the 24-year-old now set for Craven Cottage, we thought we'd look at the potential squad numbers he could take his pick from.

His squad number at Liverpool at present is 59 - somehow we think he may want something much lower despite Fulham (unsurprisingly) also having that number vacant.

Fulham do have a clutch of first XI numbers going spare: Numbers 5 and 6 are available following Joachim Andersen and Kevin McDonald's departures.

The number eight shirt, once worn by Fulham legend Brian McBride, could also be up for grabs.

Stefan Johansen has it at present but he looks on the verge of a move to QPR so Wilson could well pounce for that sought-after digit.

Tom Cairney is another linked with a move away this summer and if he does go, his number 10 shirt is one Wilson will certainly be having his eyes on too.

As for Wilson's other previous numbers, he wore 23 at Cardiff last year, 22 at Bournemouth, 7 at Derby, 49 at Hull and 24 at Crewe - of those, only 49 is free at Fulham.

Johansen Joins QPR

The Club can confirm that Stefan Johansen has joined Queens Park Rangers on a permanent deal.

He joins Rangers for an undisclosed fee, having spent a successful half season on loan at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium earlier this year, during which he scored four times in 21 appearances.

Johansen arrived at Fulham almost five years ago and quickly won fans' approval with a combination of relentless running, combative challenges, and eye for goal.

He was on fire in December 2016, scoring in no fewer than four consecutive matches, against Reading, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Rotherham United and Derby County.

The season culminated in disappointment as the Royals frustrated Fulham in the Play-Offs, but Johansen ended the campaign as our joint top scorer, alongside Tom Cairney, with 13 goals, and also came second in our Player of the Season vote.

His relationship with Cairney and Kevin McDonald in the middle of the park was a key reason for the Club's surge towards the Play-Offs, and it was vital again – with the addition of Ollie Norwood – the following year.

Johansen featured in every one of the 23 matches in our famous unbeaten run, before playing a key role in our successful Play-Off campaign.

First he cushioned a ball into Ryan Sessegnon's path for the first goal against Derby County, before starting the move that led to the winner at Wembley against Aston Villa.

He played 12 times for Fulham in the Premier League, before heading to West Bromwich Albion on loan who he helped to reach the Play-Off Semi-Finals.

Back at Fulham for 2019/20, he featured 36 times and added another Play-Off winner's medal to his collection as we returned to the top flight at the first time of asking.

In total, Johansen made 142 appearances for the Whites, scoring 21 times.

Everyone at the Club would like to wish Stefan all the very best at QPR, and we look forward to welcoming him back at the Cottage in October.

Tony Khan said: "Stefan Johansen has made great contributions to Fulham Football Club since his arrival five years ago. He helped lead us to three Championship Play-Off appearances in that duration, including both of our recent promotion campaigns in 2018 and 2020.

"These enduring memories and his competitive spirit have made him a beloved part of the Fulham family. We'll miss Stefan very much, and we wish him and his family the best in their future."

Johansen completes £600,000 move to QPR

Stefan Johansen has completed his move from Fulham to QPR.

The two clubs have been in negotiations for several weeks but the deal was held up by the change of manager at Fulham, where Marco Silva recently replaced Scott Parker.

Rangers will pay around £600,000 for the Norwegian midfielder, who has signed a three-year contract.

He was outstanding while on loan with them during the second half of last season.

Johansen, 30, joined Fulham from Celtic in 2016. He had a year remaining on his contract at Craven Cottage.

"It is great to be back," Johansen told Rangers' website. "This is a good fit.

"I come here where there is a good group of players and staff, and I am very much looking forward to it."

Meanwhile, QPR assistant boss John Eustace is posed to take over as Swansea City manager.

Stefan Johansen: QPR complete signing of Fulham midfielder

QPR have signed midfielder Stefan Johansen from Championship rivals Fulham for an undisclosed fee.

The 30-year-old was on loan for four months last season and played a key role as the club climbed out of relegation trouble to finish ninth.

"It is great to be back," Johansen told the club website.

"This is a good fit.

"When the gaffer brought me in last season, I felt the way I play suits the way he wants to play. He has played a big part in making this permanent."

Charlie Austin, Sam Field and Jordy de Wijs, who were also on loan last season, have all been signed on permanent deals.

"It has been a great transfer window for the club," Norway international Johansen said. "You want to keep building on what you did last season.

"Everyone knows how tough the league is. It's all about getting a squad together which will hopefully find consistency over a full season.

"We have to get into that rhythm that we had in the last part of last season - and then see where that takes us."

Manager Mark Warburton added: "The impact he had here last season, both on and off the pitch, was evident for all to see. He is proven at international level and has quality in abundance.

"It has taken a lot of work from a lot of people to get this across the line, so it is fantastic that the process has proved fruitful. This is a huge signing for us."

End of an era

Stefan Johansen's departure this afternoon made it official. We'll never see the three midfield musketeers who transformed our fortunes under Slavisa Jokanovic – the Norwegian, Kevin McDonald and Tom Cairney – together in a Fulham shirt again. The word legend gets thrown around too easily by modern football followers, but it is impossible to understate the significance of Johansen's contribution at Craven Cottage over the past five years. He played every game in that magnificent 23 match unbeaten run under Jokanovic that nearly delivered automatic promotion and the telepathic understanding between that triumvirate in the engine room was a key reason why the Championship couldn't cope with Fulham's dynamic football.

It might be stretching it to describe Slavisa's stylish bunch as the Barcelona of the Championship but the way the Whites held onto the ball was mesmerising at times. With Johansen completing a permanent switch to Shepherd's Bush and the wonderful news that McDonald is recovering nicely following his kidney transplant, today seems an appropriate moment at which to reflect on their immense impact down by the banks of the Thames. McDonald made a massive difference at the base of the midfield, whilst Johansen shrugged off a disastrous debut to quickly become undroppable alongside Cairney.

You might be feeling emotional this afternoon but, in the words of that old phrase, it isn't time to be upset but to be grateful that we were all able to enjoy this special time in Fulham's history. Jokanovic, himself a pretty hard-nosed midfielder, must have seen much to marvel at in the play of both Johansen and McDonald. The Scot himself has admitted that his time at Craven Cottage coincided with the best football of his career, even if he was deployed in a much deeper role than he had ever played before. He played that deep-lying number six role to perfect, reading the game expertly, whilst Johansen married his eager eye for a pass with an embrace of the sort of cynical tackles that Fulham players of old just wouldn't make.

The way in which those two dovetailed so effectively allowed Cairney the freedom to roam into forward positions in a manner that stuck fear into the Championship. But it is easy to forget that Johansen came up with crucial as well. The former Celtic man scored in four successive games as Fulham were going through a sticky patch in the winter of 2016, grabbed a vital opener at Burton to breath new life into the Whites' promotion push and played a starring role in the defeats of Ipswich and Norwich City. His brace in the devastating dismantling of promotion rivals Huddersfield in one of Fulham's most complete away displays will live long in the memory.

That season ended in bitter disappointment at Reading, but Johansen played a pivotal part as the Whites bounced back from that setback to go one better the following year. The energetic midfielder again scored massive goals, grabbing winners against Hull City and Queens Park Rangers as well as curling home a brilliant free-kick at Nottingham Forest. He came into a great run of form towards the end of the season, breaking the deadlock at Carrow Road and memorably winding up James Maddison in the dying embers of a crucial contest. His role in the famous win over Aston Villa at Wembley shouldn't be discounted, even if some of his team-mates have cruelly described his searching ball that fell at the feet of Ryan Sessegnon in the build up to the goal as a mishit.

The togetherness that these characters fostered clearly played a huge part in Fulham's success. You only have to glimpse at the famous photo of McDonald addressing the victorious troops in the Wembley dressing room after the play-off final to get a sense of the unity within that squad. Those wonderful scenes will live long in the memory – and Johansen, who seems to have been treated rather shabbily by the club's hierarchy in recent years, probably deserved better than being excluded entirely from Scott Parker's Premier League plans after his unstinting service to the cause.

It will be very difficult to recreate the understanding that midfield trio shared – as McDonald touched upon in his recent interview with the club's official website. Fulham have some serious talent in their academy, but the brutal nature of the English game (especially in the Championship) reminds us regularly of the fact that there's simply no substitute for hard work. One of Johansen's most endearing qualities was that he always appeared full of running and never shirked a challenge – even if there appeared little chance of him getting the ball.

It might be time for a new era under Marco Silva, but we should as Fulham fans pay tribute to the talisman who shaped our past. Tom Cairney's curler against Leeds that sparked the Yorkshire side's collapse and our own rise to the top six will be a moment stored in Fulham folklore for years to come. McDonald's magical strike at Millwall was just as astonishing – if only for the identity of the scorer. Johansen has produced many moments of magic I've already detailed, but perhaps his most telling contribution might have been crudely bringing down Cameron Jerome as the Derby striker seemed set to burst over the halfway through with that play-off semi-final locked at 1-1 on aggregate.

All three men have given us such magnificent memories and they deserve to be hailed as the Fulham heroes that they are.

2 dilemmas facing Marco Silva at Fulham as opening game v Middlesbrough edges closer

Fulham have plenty of work do in the next few weeks before their opening game of the Championship season against Middlesbrough on Sunday, August 8.

It has been all change at Fulham in terms of their managerial situation in the off-season since they were relegated from the Premier League. Scott Parker left Craven Cottage and has decided to move onto Championship rivals Bournemouth.

While they have opted to appoint former Watford and Everton boss Marco Silva to replace their former midfielder in the dugout.

The Portuguese coach has a lot of work to do to prove himself with the way things ended for him at Goodison Park but he has a decent enough record to suggest he could be a good fit for Fulham.

The pressure will be on Fulham to get off to a strong start to the campaign and Silva's side will be aiming to make sure they secure a win in their opening game against Middlesbrough. However, there are a few issues that will need to be sorted before that can happen.

Here, we take a look at TWO dilemmas that Silva is facing ahead of the opening clash with Middlesbrough...

Getting the right players in key areas of the squad
Fulham have so far struggled to make any sort of progress in the transfer window and Silva is yet to be able to make a new addition to his side since taking over from Parker.

There have been also been a number of key departures in the summer from Craven Cottage including the likes of Kevin McDonald and Marcus Bettinelli. They have also lost plenty of other loanees that were a key part of their side in the Premier League last term.

Silva's side are attempting to secure a move for a new forward and a more creative player and they have been linked recently with a potential move for Flamengo forward Rodrigo Muniz. Although their opening loan-to-buy offer has been rejected.

While it has been reported by Goal that Fulham are now leading the chase to secure the signature of Harry Wilson from Liverpool who has been a long-term target for them.

While the latest report from The Sun has revealed that they are closing in on the £10 million signing of the 24-year-old

There have also been one or two transfer reports suggesting that Fulham are in the market to add to  their midfield options.

According to reports Silva's side are interested in making a move for Swansea City midfielder Matt Grimes. While they have also been linked with a potential move for Tom Trybull.

Sorting out the long-term future of key players
Another major issue that Silva is facing ahead of Fulham's opening game of the season against Middlesbrough is what to do with the long-term futures of some key players at Craven Cottage.

That comes with a couple of players having been linked consistently with a potential exit from the club since the start of the summer transfer window.

The future of midfielder Jean Michael Seri is once again in doubt this summer with him having been linked with a potential return to Turkish side Galatasaray.

However, it has been reported by The Athletic that Silva is an admirer of him and that could suggest that he might yet remain with the club.

Meanwhile, Aleksander Mitrovic has been linked with a potential move away from Fulham throughout the summer window. Following Parker's departure and Silva's arrival Football League World believes that his chances of remaining at Craven Cottage have been improved.

Finally, defender Antonee Robinson is also being linked with a potential departure from Craven Cottage this summer as well.

It has been reported that Manchester City and Wolves are both interested in making a potential move for him. While the latest report from The Sun has indicated that a move to Wolves might be his preference due to the game time he would get.

It is vital that their futures are resolved one way or another in the near future so Silva knows who he will be working with.

Kebano spot-kick secures Southampton draw

A second half spot-kick from Neeskens Kebano secured a draw for Fulham in their latest pre-season friendly at Premier League Southampton this afternoon.

The Congolese winger coolly sent Fraser Forster the wrong way from twelve yards after Anthony Knockaert had been brought down by Moussa Djenepo to cancel out Shane Long's tap-in shortly after half time. It was a creditable performance from Marco Silva's side against a strong Southampton line-up at the Saints' Staplewood training campus.

The hosts settled quickly and made all of the early running. They might have gone in front inside five minutes but Fabri made a fine save to thwart Theo Walcott after the former England forward had been played in by Che Adams. From the ensuing corner, Jack Stephens spurned a glorious opportunity to open the scoring at the far post.

Fabio Carvalho squandered Fulham's clearest opening of the first half, starting wide when under pressure from two defenders, after latching onto a good cross from Antonee Robinson. Fabri almost gifted a great chance to Nathan Tella when the Saints midfielder closed down the Fulham goalkeeper but the Spaniard was able to just about clear his lines. The former Besiktas gloveman made a good save just before the break, tipping over Tella's header from a dangerous James Ward-Prowse cross.

Southampton made a series of changes at half-time, but Fulham had no excuses for switching off so swiftly after the restart after Silva had elected to offer his starting eleven further minutes. Michael Obafemi, operating at left back, got forward to good effect to create the opening goal with a low cross that the experienced Long could hardly fail to convert from six yards.

Kebano sliced wide at the back post after Knockaert had conjured up an opportunity for an immediate riposte and Carvalho had an effort blocked after excellent approach play from the Congolese international. Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa was unlucky not to level matters shortly afterwards when a brilliant bit of individual skill saw him latch onto Knockaert's ball, beat his man and shoot for the far corner, only to be denied by a fine Forster save.

Djenepo had an effort deflected into the side netting at the other end on the hour mark and Tim Ream did well to scramble a Long effort away from his own goalline after the Irish striker had slipped around Fabri, but Fulham looked more threatening as the match went on. They got their reward when Djenepo's clumsy challenge allowed Kebano to equalise from the penalty spot and Anguissa would have won it at the death with a piledriver from twenty yards but for another outstanding Forster save.

SOUTHAMPTON (4-2-2-2): McCarthy (Forster 45); Walker-Peters (Valery 45), Perraud (Djenepo 45), Stephens (Bednarek 45), Salisu (Olufunwa 77); Romeu (Diallo 45), Ward-Prowse (Armstrong 45); Walcott (Obafemi 45), Elyounoussi (Redmond 45); Tella (Long 45), Adams (Ings 45).

GOAL: Long (47).

FULHAM (4-2-3-1): Fabri; Tete (Christie 83), Robinson (Bryan 70), Mawson (Adarabioyo 56), Ream (Le Marchand 70); Francois (Seri 70), Onomah (Anguissa 56); Knockaert (Ablade 83), Kebano (Stansfield 83), Carvalho; Mitrovic (Kamara 70). Subs (not used): L. Ashby-Hammond.

GOAL: Kebano (pen 78).

Arsenal to sign Biereth

Arsenal are to sign to sign young forward Mika Biereth after he turned down Fulham's offer of professional terms, according to the Athletic.

The teenager, who starred as Steve Wigley's under-18s successfully defended their Premier League south title last season, has rejected Fulham's attempts to keep him at Craven Cottage and elected to join the Gunners. Biereth scored 21 goals in 21 league games for the under-18 side and his departure is seen as a significant blow as Fulham look to integrate more of their promising youngsters into the first team set up under new manager Marco Silva.

Biereth has long been highly rated at Motspur Park, making his under 18 debut at the age of just 15 as a substitute against Reading in February 2018. He scored 26 goals in 41 appearances for Fulham's under 18s in four seasons with the club – and also played four times for the club's under-23 side.

Kebano pleased with Fulham's preparations

Neeskens Kebano feels Fulham's draw at Southampton shows that the Whites are shaping up well under new manager Marco Silva.

The Congolese winger ensured Fulham emerged with a creditable draw against Premier League opposition by calmly converting a second half penalty. Kebano insisted he felt no pressure stepping up for the spot kick – having been a regular regular penalty taker earlier in his career – and was encouraged by his side's showing.

He told the club's official website after the final whistle:

"It was a very good game against a good team. I think we did quite well today. We drew – there were some positive things – and I enjoyed the game.
We are just trying to do our best against the all teams we are going to play against. We did well and we are carrying on in our preparations."

Kebano admitted that the new regime had changed some elements of Fulham's training and approach since Silva replaced Scott Parker but believes the squad is 'in a good place' ahead of the start of the Championship campaign.

We are all getting better, we've been building up our fitness well. We've been working hard under the sun and all them things, double sessions sometimes as well and we are in a good place now. It is a bit different. It is very good, I think everyone is happy with the way he works.

The popular winger is looking forward to finishing off Fulham's pre-season programme against Charlton Athletic next weekend in front of the Craven Cottage faithful again.

"It has been ages since we have been able to play in front of them, so it will be a good moment to share again."

Liverpool Winger Agree To Join Fulham This Summer: Good Move For Everyone Involved?

In a recent report, The Athletic revealed that Liverpool winger Harry Wilson has agreed to join Fulham this summer. It is believed that the Reds would pocket around £12m for the Welsh wide player in this off-season (via The Athletic).

Wilson's Impressive Loan Spell At The Cardiff City Stadium

The Wrexham-born talent had a fruitful loan spell at Cardiff City last season when he produced a run of eye-catching displays as a key member of their attack. Wilson banged in seven goals and picked up 12 assists in 38 matches for the Bluebirds in the previous campaign across all fronts.

The 24-year-old showed some signs of maturity with his performances from the right-wing as he averaged 2.0 shots, 1.7 key passes and 1.5 crosses per 90 minutes in the EFL Championship last season. However, his ball distribution has a lot of room for improvement after he completed 73% of his attempted passes in the English second division (stats via whoscored).

Wilson still has a contract at Anfield until 2023 but would struggle to get any game time if he stayed at the Merseyside club next season. Hence, it makes sense for the player to make a switch to Fulham and be a dominant force for them in the Championship next season.

Wilson Close To Leaving Liverpool To Join Fulham: Good Move For Everyone Involved?

Wilson has decent pace under his belt and can make some energetic runs with the ball out on the wide areas. He can launch some powerful and accurate strikes from long range but needs to be more careful with his passing in the final third. Still, the Wales international deserves a lot of credit for adding plenty of goals and assists to his game while on loan in the Championship last season.

Even then, Wilson has no future at Liverpool as he is not ready to compete with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota for a place in Jurgen Klopp's first team. Hence, it is only fair to the Welshman for the Reds to let him go to another club where he will be guaranteed regular first-team football next season.

All in all, Wilson's transfer to Fulham seems like a good move for everyone involved as he has what it takes to be a top performer at Craven Cottage over the next few years. Klopp can also benefit from cashing in on him so that he can use to money generated from his sale to strengthen other areas of his squad ahead of the new campaign.

Fulham Sign Wilson & Gazzaniga

The Club is delighted to announce the signings of Harry Wilson and Paulo Gazzaniga.

Wilson signs from Liverpool on a deal that could see the player remain at Craven Cottage until the summer of 2026.

Gazzaniga joins on a two-year deal, following the expiry of his Tottenham Hotspur contract last month, keeping him with the Club until the summer of 2023.

Harry Wilson

24-year-old Wilson, a left-footed attacking midfielder, primarily operates on the right wing but has also featured on the opposite flank, as well as centrally.

Born in Wales, he had been with Liverpool for 15 years, with a first taste of senior domestic football coming on loan with League One Crewe Alexandra as an 18-year-old during the 2015/16 season.

A Liverpool debut came the following season, before he exploded onto the scene when he was sent on loan to Hull City for the second half of 2017/18, scoring seven goals in just 11 Championship starts.

His final goals for the Tigers were a brace during a thrilling 5-5 draw at Ashton Gate, in which Joe Bryan and Bobby De Cordova-Reid were also on target for Bristol City.

Wilson was back on loan in the Championship the following season, this time for the duration of the campaign, with Derby County.

It was a fantastic year for both player and club, though they fell just short in the Play-Off Final where they were beaten by Aston Villa, who bounced back from their Wembley defeat by Fulham 12 months earlier.

Wilson scored a phenomenal 18 goals from midfield for the Rams, including a vital penalty in their memorable second leg victory over Leeds United in the Play-Off Semi-Finals.

Fans may also recall a stunning free-kick he netted against Manchester United in a Carabao Cup victory at Old Trafford.

Derby might not have been playing Premier League football the following season, but Wilson was.

His goalscoring exploits prompted AFC Bournemouth to move for his services, with Wilson featuring in 31 of their 38 top-flight fixtures and returning an impressive haul of seven goals.

He matched that tally while back in his homeland on loan with Cardiff City last term, while also registering a career best 12 assists during his season in the Welsh capital.

Wilson actually played for the Wales senior team before any of his club sides, with Chris Coleman giving him a debut in their 1-1 World Cup Qualifier against Belgium in October 2013.

At the age of 16 years and 207 days, it made Wilson the youngest player to ever represent Wales, taking a record that was previously held by Gareth Bale.

It would be several years before he represented his country again, but he marked his first start with a wonderful goal in a victory over China.

Wilson was named in the Wales squad for this summer's European Championship, featuring in three of their four matches, meaning he now has 29 caps for his country.

Speaking to FFCtv after signing, Wilson said: "I'm delighted to sign for Fulham. From my first chat with the Gaffer on the phone, I loved what he was saying and felt that he understood me as a player, and that played a massive role in me coming here.

"The ambition of the Club to get back into the Premier League appealed to me as that's where we all want to be. I'm hoping I can come here, have a good season and help get the Club back into the Premier League."

Paulo Gazzaniga

After leaving his native Argentina, goalkeeper Gazzaniga's first port of call in Europe was Spanish side Valencia.

He spent four years at the Mestalla before moving to the UK, where he signed a contract with Gillingham ahead of the 2011/12 season.

Fulham Academy goalkeeper Ross Flitney began that campaign with the gloves, but the 20-year-old Gazzaniga soon won his place, featuring 20 times in the second half of the season as the Gills missed out on a League Two Play-Off spot by just two points.

His form had not gone unnoticed, and that summer newly promoted Southampton brought him in on a four-year deal, where he worked closely with Fulham legend Jim Stannard who was their goalkeeping coach at the time.

A Saints debut came in a 4-1 League Cup victory over Stevenage that August, with a Premier League bow following a month later as Aston Villa were beaten by the same scoreline at St Mary's.

Gazzaniga got plenty of Premier League experience under his belt on the south coast, featuring 21 times in the top-flight before a loan move to Rayo Vallecano for the 2016/17 season.

He was first choice for the Spanish side, making 32 appearances.

That summer, Tottenham Hotspur signed him for an undisclosed fee, reuniting Gazzaniga with his former Southampton boss, Mauricio Pochettino.

He kept a clean sheet on his Premier League debut for Spurs, in a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.

The following campaign saw Gazzaniga feature more regularly, including in the Champions League, and his form was rewarded with a first call-up for the Argentina national squad, for whom he made his debut in a 2-0 victory over Mexico in November 2018.

The 2019/20 season was his busiest in North London, featuring 25 times across all competitions.

Gazzaniga was back in Spain at the start of the current calendar year, appearing eight times across the second half of the campaign to help Elche avoid relegation from La Liga.

The 29-year-old departed Tottenham with 37 first team appearances to his name.

Speaking to FFCtv, Gazzaniga said: "Fulham is a great club. I love the challenge and I think this is an excellent opportunity for me.

"When they spoke of the project here at Fulham the decision was easy. The Championship is a very strong league and I am looking forward to getting started."

Tony Khan added: "I'm delighted to welcome both Harry Wilson and Paulo Gazzaniga to Fulham Football Club this evening.

"Harry's been a very productive player in his young career and his arrival greatly strengthens our attack, as Harry has gained valuable experience in the Championship.

"He helped lead Derby to the Play-Off Final at Wembley in 2019, and he's an important goalscoring threat who also has provided good service to his teammates and is highly regarded for his contributions on set pieces.

"We're thrilled to welcome Paulo to Fulham as well; we believe he'll be a valuable addition to our squad. He's had many clubs pursuing him since his contract expired, and I'm glad that he chose to come to Fulham.

"All of us at the Club are working hard to ensure we give ourselves and the beloved Fulham supporters our best possible chance to succeed this season, and I'm sure that both Harry and Paulo will help us in our pursuit of another promotion! Come on Fulham!"

Harry Wilson completes Fulham move after 16 years at Liverpool

Harry Wilson has left Liverpool after 16 years at the club, with the Reds agreeing to a £12 million deal with the Championship's Fulham.

After five different loan spells since he turned 18 back in 2015, Wilson has now found a permanent place to call home and it's with Marco Silva and the Cottagers.

The 24-year-old has consistently been on the fringes at Anfield having been considered surplus to requirements, and he now becomes the third outgoing in the last week.

The deal is reported to be in the region of £12 million, adding to the sales of Marko Grujic (£10.5m to Porto) and Taiwo Awoniyi (£6.5m to Union Berlin).

Liverpool have also agreed a 15 percent sell-on clause with the Championship club.

Fulham were the ones to land the Wales international after a multitude of clubs were credited with interest following his consistent season with Cardiff in 2020/21.

His time with the Bluebirds saw Wilson add to his experience in England's second division, which now stands at 90 appearances for a return of 29 goals and 19 assists.

And the Cottagers will look to tap into that as they plot their way back to the Premier League at the first time of asking following their 18th-place finish that led to their relegation.

At 24, it is the right time for Wilson to put down some roots and forge a route forward in his career having been on Liverpool's books since under-9 level.

Wilson leaves with just two senior appearances to his name for the Reds, the first of which came in 2017 and the last more than three years later in 2020.

It's a return on investment for Liverpool despite agreeing to a fee lower than the one they rejected last summer, and he could be joined by the likes of Nat Phillips and Neco Williams in heading for the exit over the coming weeks.

All the best, Harry!

Fulham confirm Wilson and Gazzaniga signings

Fulham have tonight confirmed the signings of Harry Wilson and Paulo Gazzaniga as the club's first new arrivals under new manager Marco Silva.

Welsh international winger Wilson has put pen to paper on a four-year deal, with Fulham holding a further year's option. He makes a permanent move to Craven Cottage from Liverpool for an initial fee believed to be around £10m after becoming frustrated with a lack of first-team opportunities at Anfield. The 24 year-old spent last season on loan with Cardiff, scoring seven goals in 37 appearances for the Bluebirds.

Wilson told Fulham's official website tonight: "I'm delighted to sign for Fulham. From my first chat with the gaffer on the phone, I loved what he was saying and felt that he understood me as a player, and that played a massive role in me coming here. The ambition of the club to get back into the Premier League appealed to me as that's where we all want to be. I'm hoping I can come here, have a good season and help get the Club back into the Premier League."

Former Tottenham goalkeeper Gazzaniga has signed a two-year contract having come close to joining the Whites last summer. He previously spent four years at Southampton and amassed plenty of top flight experience. The 29 year-old Argentine international said: "Fulham is a great club. I love the challenge and I think this is an excellent opportunity for me. When they spoke of the project here at Fulham the decision was easy. The Championship is a very strong league and I am looking forward to getting started."

Amount Of Liverpool Sell-on Clause In Harry Wilson Identified As He Joins Fulham

Liverpool have landed a 15 per cent sell-on clause in the deal to sell Harry Wilson to Fulham, according to The Athletic.

The Wales international has made the move to Craven Cottage on a permanent deal, dropping down to the Championship in a bid to help Fulham bounce back to the Premier League.

Liverpool will receive a fee of £12m for Wilson, £3m below the amount they quoted Fulham for Wilson last week.

The Reds also have a stake in Wilson's future performances as they hold a 15 per cent sell-on clause that they will hope can bring in additional money in the future.

Fulham will only start to pay for Wilson in 2022, something which will allow them to comply with the EFL's financial fair play rules.

Wilson was also wanted by Portuguese giants Benfica, who offered Liverpool around £6.5m.

The winger is staying in English football though and has put an end to his time at Anfield with the permanent move to Fulham.

The transfer also brings in extra money for Liverpool as they look to continue to raise cash to spend on signings.

Harry Wilson: Fulham sign Liverpool winger for £12m on long term contract until 2026

Harry Wilson is a product of Liverpool's academy but the winger's gametime at Anfield was limited over the last few years; he joins Fulham permanently after being loaned out to Derby, Bournemouth and Cardiff City in recent seasons; Paulo Gazzaniga also joins Fulham on two-year deal

Harry Wilson has joined Fulham from Liverpool on a five-year deal for a fee of £12m.

The club have also confirmed goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga has arrived at the west London side on a two-year deal following the expiry of his contract at Tottenham last month.

Wilson, 24, enjoyed successive season-long loans at Derby and Bournemouth before spending the 2020/21 campaign at Cardiff City where he scored seven times and made 12 assists in 37 Championship appearances for the Bluebirds.

He was recently involved in Wales' Euro 2020 campaign and featured in the 2-0 win over Turkey and defeats to Italy and Denmark as Rob Page's side reached the last 16.

Wilson is a product of Liverpool's academy and departs the Merseyside club after 15 years there, but the Welshman struggled for first-team appearances during his time at Anfield.

Gazzaniga comes to Craven Cottage ahead of the 2021/22 season after the conclusion of his four-year stay at Tottenham.

The 29-year-old departed the north London club with 37 first-team appearances to his name. The Argentine, who was mainly an understudy to Hugo Lloris at Spurs, also spent a short spell on loan at La Liga club Elche CF last term.

Upon his move to Fulham, Gazzaniga said: "Fulham is a great club. I love the challenge and I think this is an excellent opportunity for me.

"When they spoke of the project here at Fulham the decision was easy. The Championship is a very strong league and I am looking forward to getting started."

Meanwhile, Stefan Johansen has completed a permanent move to QPR from Fulham for a fee of £600,000.

He spent the second half of last season at Loftus Road and now he joins Rangers on a three-year deal following protracted talks since the end of the last campaign.

Following their relegation from the Premier League, Fulham begin life back in the Championship at home to Middlesbrough on August 8.

Ahead of the new season, the club have appointed former Everton and Watford manager Marco Silva as Scott Parker's replacement after he left his role of head coach by mutual consent to takeover at Bournemouth.

Fulham sign Wilson and keeper Gazzaniga

Fulham have completed the £12m signing of Wales winger Harry Wilson from Liverpool and have also signed former Tottenham goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga.

Wilson has agreed a five-year contract and Gazzaniga a two-year deal.

Wilson left Liverpool's pre-season training camp in Austria in order to finalise the move to Craven Cottage.

The Wrexham-born 24-year-old had been with the Reds since the age of nine but made just two first-team appearances for the club.

He spent last season on loan at Cardiff City – his fifth spell out on loan – and featured for his country in the recent European Championship.

"The ambition of the club to get back into the Premier League appealed to me as that's where we all want to be," Wilson told Fulham's website.

"I'm hoping I can come here, have a good season and help get the club back into the Premier League."

Argentine Gazzaniga, 29, was a free agent after recently being released by Spurs. His other previous clubs include Southampton and Gillingham.

Gazzaniga said: "Fulham is a great club. I love the challenge and I think this is an excellent opportunity for me."

Fulham complete double swoop for for Harry Wilson and Paulo Gazzaniga

Fulham have confirmed the double signing of Wales midfielder Harry Wilson from Liverpool and former Tottenham goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga.

Wilson, 24, has signed a five-year deal with the Cottagers after completing the formalities of his reported £12million switch.

Argentinian keeper Gazzaniga has agreed a two-year contract after leaving Spurs as a free agent at the end of last season.

The signings are the club's first since their relegation from the Premier League last season and the appointment of Marco Silva as manager.

Wilson made only two senior appearances at Liverpool after coming through their youth system but has gained considerable experience during a series of loans.

He has had spells at Crewe, Hull, Derby, Bournemouth and, most recently, at Cardiff last season. In addition to this he has 29 Wales caps and made three substitute appearances at Euro 2020 this summer.

Wilson was also linked with Benfica and Liverpool reportedly rejected a bid for him from Burnley last year.

He told FFCtv: "I'm delighted to sign for Fulham. The ambition of the club to get back into the Premier League appealed to me as that's where we all want to be."

Fulham are Gazzaniga's fourth English club after previously playing for Gillingham, Southampton and Spurs.

The 29-year-old, who had a loan spell at Elche last season, said: "Fulham is a great club. I love the challenge and I think this is an excellent opportunity for me."

Fulham's DOUBLE deal! Harry Wilson seals £12m move after almost 16 years at Liverpool while goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga is snapped up by Cottagers after his Tottenham contract expired

Fulham have made a double swoop to bring in Harry Wilson and Paulo Gazzaniga as they look to earn an immediate return to the Premier League.

After last season's relegation and then Scott Parker leaving the club to join Bournemouth, the Cottagers have had to act quickly to ensure their preparations for the Championship season are not disrupted.

And new boss Marco Silva has splashed £12m to sign Harry Wilson from Liverpool and bring an end to the 24-year-old's 16 years at the club.

Gazzaniga had been without a club after his contract at Tottenham expired earlier this summer

That includes several loan moves though, including last season at Cardiff, and in all his time at Anfield he made just two senior appearances - a start in the League Cup and a cameo off the bench in the FA Cup.

'I'm delighted to sign for Fulham,' Wilson told FFCtv.  'From my first chat with the Gaffer on the phone, I loved what he was saying and felt that he understood me as a player, and that played a massive role in me coming here.

'The ambition of the Club to get back into the Premier League appealed to me as that's where we all want to be. I'm hoping I can come here, have a good season and help get the Club back into the Premier League.'

Wilson left the Reds' training camp in Austria on Saturday for a medical after agreeing personal terms.

The Welsh international was involved with his country's Euro 2020 campaign earlier this summer, making three substitute appearances.

The 24-year-old's sale means Liverpool have generated over £30m this summer with the sale of fringe players Kamil Grabara, Liam Millar, Marko Grujic and Taiwo Awoniyi.

Gazzaniga meanwhile also underwent a medical on Saturday, joining the Cottagers after his contract at Tottenham expired over the summer.

The Argentine joined Spurs four years ago from Southampton, reuniting with Mauricio Pochettino who he played under on the south coast.

However, he was a clear number two to Hugo Lloris, and will hope the move to Craven Cottage results in first-team football. Fulham had Alphonse Areola in goal last season, but he returned to PSG at the end of his loan spell.

Fulham midfielder Stefan Johansen has completed a permanent move to QPR.

Harry Wilson and Paulo Gazzaniga: Fulham add duo to squad

Fulham have signed Liverpool attacking midfielder Harry Wilson and former Tottenham goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga.

Wales international Wilson, 24, joins the Championship club in a move understood to be worth about £12m on a deal that could last until 2026.

Argentine Gazzaniga, 29, has signed a two-year deal after being released by Tottenham earlier this summer.

He moved to Spurs from Southampton in 2017, but spent the second half of last season on loan at Spanish side Elche.

"The ambition of the club to get back into the Premier League appealed to me as that's where we all want to be," Wilson said.

Wilson also spent last season on loan - at Cardiff City - and was part of his country's squad at Euro 2020.

He made 38 appearances for the Welsh club and three substitute appearances at the European Championship, where he was sent off in the last-16 defeat by Denmark.

Wilson made only two senior appearances for Liverpool, starting one League Cup game and coming on as a substitute in the FA Cup.

He has also had loan spells at Crewe Alexandra, Hull City, Derby County and Bournemouth during his time with the Anfield club.

Benfica previously made an approach for Wilson but initial talks broke down over the valuation of the player.

The Reds rejected a bid of about £11m for Wilson from Burnley last summer.

Arsenal 'complete deal for Fulham starlet Mika Biereth'

Arsenal have reportedly bolstered their youth ranks with the signing of Fulham starlet Mika Biereth.

The 18-year-old is yet to make his first senior career appearance, but he has risen through the Cottagers' youth ranks and enjoyed a hugely successful 2020-21 season with the Under-18s.

Biereth registered 34 goal contributions (21 goals, 13 assists) from 21 appearances in the Under-18 Premier League South as Fulham topped the table, although his side suffered a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City in the national final.

The teenager's performances did not go unnoticed, though, and The Athletic now reports that Arsenal have won the race to sign Biereth for their academy.

The report adds that Fulham did table a professional contract to the prolific forward, but he rejected the Cottagers' offer in favour of making the move across the capital to Arsenal.

Biereth also netted one goal in the FA Youth Cup last season and made three appearances for the Under-23s in the Premier League 2.

Arsenal snap up lethal Fulham striker who scored 21 goals last season

Arsenal struggled at times last season and against teams where they really would have been expected to get all three points.

Arsenal as a side just didn't seem to click and couldn't put together a consistent enough run to worry opponents or the table. They finished a disappointing 8th.

The Gunners have made three transfers so far this summer window. Albert Lokonga (RSC Anderlecht) and Nuno Tavares (Benfica) have been snapped up. The pair of 21-year-olds are also joined by Fulham youngster Mike Biereth according to The Athletic's transfer tracker (July 24, 6 pm).

Fulham will be adjusting to life in the Championship, and hoping to get out of it, under the guidance of new head coach Marco Silva.

However, it will be an adjustment that they will have to make minus the goalscoring talents of 18-year-old London-born starlet Biereth.

According to The Athletic, Arsenal have moved in and snapped up the talented young striker after he turned down Fulham's offer of a professional deal at Craven Cottage.

Biereth was on fire last season for Fulham's Under-18s with an astonishing record in front of goal. In just 21 games, the young striker scored 21 goals and provided 13 assists.

This total of 21 goals included hat-tricks against Spurs and Aston Villa Under-18s as well as an outstanding display away at Leicester. In this game, Biereth hit a hat-trick of both goals and assists in an 8-0 Fulham victory.

Thoughts?
What is Arsenal's gain here is definitely Fulham's loss. Mike Biereth's season last time out shows the potential that he had.

Whilst youth football is hardly able to measure up to the rigours of first-team games, you cannot discount the returns that he had, 21 goals and 13 assists make big waves at any level.

Fulham might have been minded to introduce him to the first-team at Craven Cottage in this season's Championship. However, that is all supposition now.

What is clear is that he has left Craven Cottage and travelled the 7 miles north to Arsenal and The Emirates.

Fulham Confirm Paulo Gazzaniga and Harry Wilson Signings

Fulham have completed the signings of goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga and winger Harry Wilson. Gazzaniga joins on a free transfer after leaving Tottenham Hotspur at the end of last season, while Wilson has completed a £12 million move from Liverpool.

Paulo Gazzaniga and Harry Wilson Join Fulham
Permanent Move for Wilson
Wrexham-born Wilson joined the academy at Liverpool in 2005, meaning this permanent move away from the Reds brings a 16-year spell to a close. Despite being highly rated, he never made a Premier League appearance for the club, instead appearing once each in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

He did, though, garner top-flight experience on loan at Bournemouth in the 2019/20 season, scoring seven times in 31 league games and impressing along the way.

Wilson has found the majority of his success in the Championship. He was one of the loan stars of Frank Lampard's Derby County team in 2018/19, helping them to the play-off final after the brilliant semi-final success against Leeds United. He also scored a stunning free-kick in the Carabao Cup win away at Manchester United.

The 24-year-old spent last season in the second tier, scoring seven goals in 37 games for Cardiff City.

None of these loan moves were enough to force his way into the first-team at Liverpool. Wilson's favoured position is on the right of a front three, where Mohamed Salah is at the top of the pecking order. The Reds also have Xherdan Shaqiri to play there and the long-term successor, currently, is seen to be teenager Harvey Elliott, leaving Wilson with no opportunities to impress.

This move to Fulham can finally allow him to settle at a club where he has the ability to be one of the top players there.

On his move, Wilson said: "I'm delighted to sign for Fulham.

Gazzaniga to Provide Competition
Argentine goalkeeper Gazzaniga joins the Cottagers on a free transfer after leaving Spurs at the end of last season. He had been very much a back-up choice for Spurs but did get a handful of appearances in the 2019/20 season when Hugo Lloris was out injured.

Overall he featured 37 times for Spurs after joining from Southampton in 2017. His arrival at Fulham will see him provide competition for Marek Rodak's number one spot alongside fellow goalkeeper Fabri.

Gazzaniga said of the move: "Fulham is a great club. I love the challenge and I think this is an excellent opportunity for me.

"When they spoke of the project here at Fulham the decision was easy. The Championship is a very strong league and I am looking forward to getting started."

Fulham sign former Tottenham goalkeeper Gazzaniga on free transfer

ulham have signed goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga on a free transfer.

Gazzaniga left Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the 2020-21 season upon the expiry of his contract, and has now penned a two-year deal with the Championship side.

The west London club also completed the signing of Harry Wilson from Liverpool.

What has been said?
Gazzaniga said: "Fulham is a great club. I love the challenge and I think this is an excellent opportunity for me.

"When they spoke of the project here at Fulham the decision was easy. The Championship is a very strong league and I am looking forward to getting started."

Tony Khan added: "We're thrilled to welcome Paulo to Fulham; we believe he'll be a valuable addition to our squad. He's had many clubs pursuing him since his contract expired, and I'm glad that he chose to come to Fulham."

Why have Fulham brought him in?
Alphonse Areola has returned to Paris Saint-Germain after his season on loan from the French side.

That leaves Fulham with Marek Rodak and Fabri as senior goalkeepers on the books, with academy product Marcus Bettinelli also leaving after his contract expired. Fabri's last league appearance, however, came in November 2019 for Mallorca.

Rodak was Fulham's first-choice goalkeeper in the 2019-20 campaign when they won promotion back to the Premier League.

How did Gazzaniga do last season?
Initially brought to Tottenham by Mauricio Pochettino, who he worked with at Southampton, Gazzaniga fell out of favour in north London under Jose Mourinho.

Joe Hart was brought in to be Hugo Lloris' understudy, and Gazzaniga failed to make an appearance in the first half of the 2020-21 season.

The 29-year-old then joined Spanish side Elche on a six-month loan, making eight La Liga appearances as they narrowly avoided relegation.

Gazzaniga ended the campaign as Elche's first-choice goalkeeper, crucially keeping a clean sheet in the 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao on the final day of the season to keep Elche in the division.

He made 37 appearances for Tottenham in his four seasons at the club.
