Title: Old Sod's Army-Plastic pitches.
Post by: bog on September 16, 2021, 09:25:53 AM
Great result last night. The second best one of the week and the funniest for me was Manure losing to Young Boys Berne. But I see they have what looks like a plastic pitch. I thought these were banned in top flight football?

Yes, I thought plastic had been seen to be a complete failure, remember it was installed at Loftus Road for a while.
Turf technology is so advanced now that you rarely see a poor surface and therefore there really is no need for plastic.

A procedure that is questionable now is the watering of pitches just before the match. This happed at Birmingham last night and some players were having difficulty keeping their feet.
We are guilty of the practice at the Cottage.
