Title: The Putney End net curtain
Post by: SP on September 20, 2021, 08:35:07 PM
The Reading fans rightly enjoyed their victory but seemed desperate to engage with the FFC fans just the other side of the net curtain divide.  Standard practice at most grounds but not so much at the Cottage when the end of aisle seats are occupied by a young girl dressed as a fairy & young lads enjoying their popcorn.  Only at the Cottage & all the better for it.

I've never understood confrontation at football grounds. Ok so you've won the game so now go home like good little boys

I sit just the other side of the net curtain and on Saturday a group of Reading fans didn't seem to want to watch the game and spent most of the 90 minutes sideways on trying to get us to " engage " with them

Pathetic

Not sure if you could see the top of the stand but some sort of curtain breach was being attempted by the Reading youth after the second goal, absolutely ridiculous.

It's pretty farcical when you consider you could be elbow to elbow in the gents at half-time with the people you're trying to incite

As long as it's just "elbow to elbow" Marty!

Agreed. Same phenomenon you get where two lads being held apart are desperate to get at each other and fight, then when they're let go and free to do it, they're suddenly a bit lukewarm about it after all

They were certainly giving it big walking through the park after the match too. Singing "Fulham's a sh**hole , I want to go home". Quote amusing.

Does make me laugh when fans sing that at our place. Walking down a tranquil, tree-lined street of £3m Victorian mansions signing that they want to go back to Reading / Huddersfield / Stoke ...

Could see it from the Hammersmith End and found it funny how hard they were trying to 'engage' and yet the Fulham fans showed no interest at all.  Surely they know we're not the team for a 'hard man's' day out? Save that for Millwall.

I'm sure they won't be as mouthy at Millwall

They should move everyone in H5 to P5. That would be interesting

I thought Reading fans were above that type of behavior.

There was a tiktok video i saw recently of two dogs face to face, with someone off camera repeatedly opening and closing an automatic gate in front of the dogs. Whenever the gate opened the dogs would look away from each other. When the gate was closed they'd bark ferociously at each other.

I think at most stadiums (with fans of much lesser intelligence) they always have a group of ""hard men"" who allocate themselves near the away fans for every game as the ""protectors of the stadium"". I guess when those same types of fans travel to Craven Cottage they are expecting that we have the same morons at our stadium positioned next to the away fans for that reason, not realising it is/was a neutral section. I guess it's pretty confusing for their little minds.
