Saw some wonderful real class yesterday, starting in the tunnel with our players greeting StefJo. Mitro's turn and shot for the opener and then Seri's sumptuous pass to BDR for the third goal a real throwback to a different time but same place.

With players this good it was a bit of a blow to hear Nigel Pearson describe Bournemouth as "Champions"

Long season ahead Fernhurst. However we've sadly seen some inconsistency from our team already this year which isn't really an automatic promotion trait for a squad.

What I loved about the pass was when bobby scored Harrison reed ran right for Seri as he know how good a pass that was

The pass up the right for Dennis to cross for Mitro first wasn't to shabby either.

The guy is so classy and calm, I really am enjoying watching him.
One error in 90 mins and when he made it he went tearing off after the ball like it was a £50 note blowing down the street.

Should he not be class in this division? Would be a major worry if he was not influential in Championship.

Thank G-d BDR made no mistake with his finish (done very nicely), as it would have been almost criminal for that pass not to assist a goal.

He's head and shoulders the best ball-playing midfield player in the division

Do you think he could dovetail with Cairney (if fit)?  Two players capable of such defence splitting passes and blessed with great football brains has the potential to destroy other sides in this division.

I think we should hold on him dovetailing with cairney. Cairney is currently on form and fitness arguably our fourth choice behind carvalho, Reed and seri.  And realistically our style with reed, carvalho and seri was at times unplayable... my memory of cairney was a capable, goalscoring midfielder who did get injured but also needed more time on the ball and could slow the game down far too often. Something which isn't an issue with seri, reed and carvalho in the lineup.

Hmmm I've never agreed with the "slows the game down" point of view. His ability to pick a forward pass is what creates the opportunities for others to then get forward quickly. As to his position in the pecking order he's clearly different to Reed but I agree he potentially faces completion from Carvalho.

I like the idea of Reed, Cairney and Seri in the middle; with Mitro, Carvalho and Wilson as the front 3. Reed would certainly have to put a shift in but as we've seen, he's more than capable of doing so.....

That's the centre midfield I was thinking of. And at first glance that also looks a potent strike force but, and it's a big but, that line up would surely push Wilson and Carv out wide. Which does not seem to be their most effective position.

Twig - I suspect this may be a bit of a dilemma. I see both as playmakers, ie performing the same role. In the premier it didn't work with both of them in the same side. If I remember correctly Ranieri moved Cearney to right-midfield/wing and that didn't work either. So this will be something for the Silva to work on and hopefully sort as a fit Cearney is a tremendous player in the Championship.  And I agree with MartyFFC that Seri at the moment is head and shoulders above any other midfielder in the division .. that I've seen in any case.

And potentially a great alternative option when Seri is away on African Cup duties ???

I seem to recall that when Seri first appeared it seemed pretty clear that playing both him and Cairney in midfield didn't work out too well?

There were occasions that season in which we looked great with them both playing together. At other times we looked to be lacking too much defensively with them both, and opted to bring in a centre back in Chambers instead to kick things in the middle of the park. In the Championship I am sure that the positives with having the two best ball playing midfielders in the division playing together will far outweigh the negatives. It could also relieve Reed from trying to do too much with the ball and concentrate instead on things that he is better at (like running around and pressing and being an easy passing option when needed).

With Seri and Cairney the problem is neither will make runs beyond the striker, unless Cairney they adapt their game.

Have just listened to Seri's interview on the Fulham website, he comes across very well and speaks good English. Is very much enjoying his football and is really appreciative of the fans backing him. Has been one of my players of the season so far, has almost been like a new signing. Hope he stays next season.

To be honest I don't think he's shown enough yet to justify a starting place. Perhaps needs to come off the bench a couple of times and hopefully show just what he can contribute.

Just heard him speak and think it's the first time? He's had a video interview since joining us.. he seems really positive about the season, being at the club, the fans and squad and seems genuinely ambitious. Great to finally see content like that and be able to get a greater appreciation of what he's like as a player and person.

He's doing really well so far this season and I hope it continues and then if we get into the premiership it boosts his confidence even more. His raw ability is clearly there.. just needs confidence and perhaps a bit of support from fans, which he's only really just starting to get.

I have always felt that there was never room for both Cairney and Seri in the same mid field triangle as it would lack physical strength and pace. Serii has shown good tackling ability in recent games and I am starting to think maybe he could perform with Cairney.
However right now our best midfield would clearly be Seri/Reed/Carvalho with Cairney providing cover for injury or tiredness.

And there was another brilliant one in behind a bit wider for BDR who was put in one on one with the keeper (when he tried to flick it but missed the connection).

He's a very good footballer.

Looked a great deal more confident today and looked to find the killer through ball on numerous occasions. Finally! Exciting to watch him open up a little.
You could argue that Cardiff gave him more time on the ball I suppose... but I think it's the fan reaction to his good interview. I think he finally realised everyone has "forgiven" him and the pressure is off.

He's looked confident every game and as for finding the killer pass that also relies on players making good runs.

Every game the team cohesion is improving, so hopefully players will continue to make good runs so he can pick them out.

Seri's ball over the top to Wilson, for Wilson to back heel to Mitro/Kebano, was a thing of beauty.
