And Final chance to join if you haven't already.
The rules are very simple:
1) Competition starts Jan 3rd and finishes March 1st.
2) We use the Marquess of Queensberry rules. i.e. As I can't watch you weigh in person, as good FoF'ers you are all expected to be gentlemen/women and I trust the weekly numbers you PM me. We are Fulham and are expected to be acting like Johnny Haynes with honour.
3) Prior to Jan 3rd (and as close as possible) each contestant will PM me their initial weight (in pounds to save me from converting).
4) Every week by Friday (or close to it) you will PM me your weight. I will then spend the weekend producing a number of stats, updated league tables and graphs, and post progress every Monday.
5) We are competing in two different classes: Biggest Loser and Biggest Loser Pound For Pound. Biggest Loser is simply most pounds dropped by March 1st. Biggest Loser Pound For Pound is percentage of body weight lost by March 1 giving everyone regardless of size a chance to compete
6) Comments on threads are highly encouraged and Mr SilverFox/FrenchConnection has announced a FoF bumper sticker for
1. The best excuse given for not achieving their target or generally under-achieving.
2. The best use of a football cliché in this competition.
7) I am working on some actual Fulham prizes but that is still work in progress but I am hopeful we can get something sorted
8) To be eligible for any prizes you need to be participating all the way until the end. If you quit along the way, you will not be eligible.

Eat while you can, and then feel good about shedding it in the new year and when spring comes around you will feel real good!!! Maybe even thinking of brushing the dust off the old Speedo for the summer? :54:
Thanks for doing this Finnster!
You chaps have NO chance this year. :hook:

That's a little risque, especially living in the States Mr. F. :015:
.. and you've got another sign-up - I'll PM you this week. :54:
:016:
Yesterday morning I would have signed up.
Today I am on the outside of a Banoffee pie, a packet of Bombay mix and let's not talk about the cheese.......................
I've earmarked several bottles of wine, a chocolate roulade and a family sized bag of Doritos for the Stoke match........................
Washed down with Gin and a valium chaser..................
Thanks for that Finnster - al makes perfect sense.
I am giving up the booze for the duration of the competition and kind of glad it finishes on 1st March - I had it in my mind that it ran till the end of March!! :51:
That looks a mighty competitive field. My best aspiration is a top half finish - I don't feel ready to represent FoF in Europe just yet!
I shall keep body and soul together with just an occasional bowl of gruel and crust of dry bread for the duration of lent.. :002:
..........that is , until Mo has lent us the cash to buy a decent striker.... :clap_hands:
You lot are wasting your time, i've got this won already. WN giving up the booze for two weeks is hard enough, let alone two months. Witchy poos souldn't be too hard to give up that rubbish cheese you eat :015:
You've already got your name on "Best excuse" Fredster :dead horse: :dead horse: :dead horse: :59: :hook: :54:

Did you miss the thread i started the other day for you Blingo, should be in the last two pages, it's definately you :59:
I'm already preparing for the big off, not drinking from today, just finished my last curry. last sausasges tomorrow morning. Plus i bought five tops for £220 from the Westfields shopping center (bloody hell its huge), but the tops i bought are way too small at the moment, to fit me proper i reckon i'd have to lose 2 and a half stone, so i've got a bit of incentive to keep me going. And stocked up on Heinz lentil soup as its only 85 calories. Bring it on Blingo and you other teletubbies :028:

There are more overweight people in America than average-weight people. So that surely means that overweight people are now average... which means, you have met your New Year's resolution to bring your weight down.
No, that doesn't sound very motivational for this weight loss programme, does it?
I take it back. Don't bother reading this post. Doh, too late.
:bump: Just making sure you PM me your numbers after the new years dinner damage has been assessed.
And by the way, tomorrow is my birthday unfortunately. Funny how at some point in life birthdays becomes as enjoyable as watching the meter in a taxi. :030:

The 2011 winner is also in :008: . Who wants a who can keep of the booze competetion, it'll help me if i'm having a battle of will powers with someone. I'm hoping to do the full 2 months , but in past showings that is very unlikely indeed.

If Fulham can win away for the first time in a year and a half, you can keep the spirits up and focus on the calendar and put in 8 weeks of moderation. That's all it takes Mr Freddy.
In fact, you could even make it a rule to go mental for every Fulham away win. I know, that carrot may not work very well as that is highly unlikely to happen very often is it?
Pm sent hope I'm in I've got quite a bit spare so hope to win this comp easy

No, No, Mr Logicalman,
Thare are no fat Fof'ers. But there are a few big boned ones. Put it this way, if I was on the offal I wouldn't like to take on a FoF Select in rugby. Mind you, that goes for away supporters as well. FoF would hold their own very well.

You are on record Mr Freddy, and if you do well it will reflect even better on the first week so stop Arsene Whiner. I actually have better things to do, especially on my birthday, than update spreadsheets

As this is more of a collective effort than a competition, here is a slimming tip they don't tell you about because it doesn't cost anything and doesn't sell any slimming pills or dieting products.
Drink a large glass of water before each meal. It'll decrease the amount you eat and make you fill full sooner.
Could the rest get them numbers in please:

The fat is just dripping off him. Its not a pretty sight. The gym apparatus is becoming very slippery and quite disgusting.
More seriously, its not good to lose too much weight too quickly. Your body will compensate for this lack of calorie input and stock more after a few days. Its far better to change your diet and lose weight gradually.

Despite going out for a meal yesterday i've lost more weight, i'd be amazed if anyone beats me this week. Today will be starvation rations plus a trip down the gym. :028:
The fat is just dripping off him. Its not a pretty sight. The gym apparatus is becoming very slippery and quite disgusting.
More seriously, its not good to lose too much weight too quickly. Your body will compensate for this lack of calorie input and stock more after a few days. Its far better to change your diet and lose weight gradually.
Mr SilverFox,
You have a very good point. However, you have to respect Mr Freddy's "lightswitch" approach and outlook on life whether it is slimming or eating & drinking. It is either "on" or "off" with very little in the middle. He just cracks me up. Wonderful stuff. :Sparkyticus:
Point taken, chaps. As you say, its never boring when Fredster's around..
Just tracked down last years results. So, the record is 22 pounds across 8 weeks? Can anyone smash through the losing 10% of bodyweight barrier this year?

Personally I would ignore the BMI side of stuff because it does not take into account the muscle weight. When I trained for and ran a half marathon I was still listed as 'oveweight' by the BMI.
My BMI is 22.5 - I think I'll abstain from this year's competition...

There is something invariably scary about the term Body Mass Index. It sounds a bit like a psychological disease or the Whore-Madonna Complex (maybe I just created a new Cockney rhyming slang term there). Makes for a good laugh in the pub though "... oi lads, went to the doctors and would you believe it I scored 25.6 on the Whore-Madonna Complex." :011:

For the record, I started on 13th November and am now nearly 8 weeks though my regime. I have, to date, lost 13% of my old body weight.

Sounds like someone's struggling abit Frenchie :dft012: . So far today i've had Special K for breakfast (very boring) two thin slice beef salad sarnies and done a ten minute run on the treadmill at an average speed of 9.8kmph, could have done a little bit more but my belly button (hernia) felt a bit funny so stopped. Couldn't swim as the pool was out of action, but plenty of Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. 22 lb in 8 weeks will be smashed this year :028: . Oh lentil soup for dinner and diet lemonade whilst watching the game tonight. Fletch and Travers will fall off the wagon tonight :59:
headlines, Northolt takeaways suffer post Christmas crash, can it all be VAT increase,no it is Fat fred's fat decrease! :011:
Anouther boost to my health kick is went to the opticians earlier and alls well with my mince pies :54: . Ah the Fredmiester will be back to his SAS best very soon :028:
SAS ? Sausages and Sandwiches? You won't last the week m8. After three days when you're starving, you will fall off the wagon and stuff yourself stupid lol lol lol.
I start tomorrow. Just back from lunch in Banus, and Dinner tonight in Bruno's in Gib. Top class food. So I will register as no gain or loss on Friday, but watch next week fatso. hahahahahaha.
What's the record for the most weight lost in a week? :028: . Blingo the only way you'll lose weight is to :020: :53:
Finn, I sent you a PM and i realize i'm a day late, but if it's not too late, i would love to get in.
Despite yesterday being my least eating and most exercise day i have stalled with no weight loss today :012: . Travers Barney did you manage to stay of the sauce last night? I knew Fletch didn't have it in his locker :59: . Must admit i'm sure i couldn't go to Fulham and not drink.
I'm sure your weight loss will resume as soon as you send Tom your nuts lol lol.
I start my diet TODAY.
I have a strange metabolism. I just have to read about Fred's sausages and WhiteWitch's chocolate to put on weight. Lots of fresh fruit this week. Cups of tea (no sugar) instead of beer/wine. I've had to do a bit of walking this week too as the car is being serviced. Jacuzzi and infrared sauna? That's the easy bit. I've got the former on the patio and the latter in the cellar.
I must have lost ooooh , all of 1 lb. Like a boxer before a fight, I'm saving that surprise for the official weekly weigh-in.
Having Fulham score 3 goals is a great help. Jumping up and down after each goal is good exercise. More of the same please, lads.
Do we have any of the girls doing the diet this year? Either they are all slim or they are a bit shy about revealing their weight to all and sundry.

You mean you have only put on 2lb lol. In all honesty i'm not suprised you are losing weight with the amount of cr@p you are spouting :005: :dft012:

Ah bless you K Cat i can live with that, but unfortunately i'm still two weeks away from being able to do weights just running and swimming and biking at the moment. Still i set myself a target for each week and i'm now bang on it for this week, hope to lose anouther lb before the weigh in tomorrow, plus not going to gym today, the legs are a bit seized up .

Never tried a veggie sausage, but i suppose i'd better in my quest for the perfect sausage.
Walls and Richmond Pork Sausages are the best lol. Especially when served up with Bacon, Beans, Eggs, Toms, Chips, fried slice, two slices and a mug of Tea. ;P

Not keen on Richmonds , i usually get Tesco finests, but the jimmy's Farm ones are good. And you're wasting your time trying to tempt me into a fry up Blingo i'm firmly in the weight loss zone :038:
Its been a slow start, after realising I submitted a wrong starting weight I strayed last night and had a bit of toblerone, weight is the same after 3 days, today however has been a good day!

All the best on your weight loss guys
Myself im on my own diet the food in great ormand street is bloody awlfull chicken and chips in the afternoon and chicken curry and a sweet of ruhbarb crumble and custard this evening stayed in my system for about four hours !!!!!!!!
I will also suggest watching fulham in the three kings, whilst playing tottenham AJs one on one with the keeper i jumped up thinking we were going to score. The only result was me breaking wind at the same time and losing a few ounces in me blow lamps....(Thats one for you fredster)
You got me sussed Fred...a few in the brick and a couple more to celebrate the win back in Motspur...dread to think what would happen if we beat anyone who is any cop....on the last of the Christmas Chablis tonight...dreading the big weigh in tomorrow but as my wife will confirm I am notoriously a slow starter.
Seems like quite a few are turning out at the JJB on the 15th Jan so I reckon I'll start properly putting it in from the 17th onwards...3 months prior to the London Marathon which I have entered....never ran more than 10 miles before so I'm leaving it kind of late.
Glad to here you are the bookies fav on BETFRED to win the competition.

I have not sent in yet I will do after the huge dump I will do whilst Reading the sun!! Amazingly I have lost this week even after a huge piss up on Tuesday toped off with a ruby a 2 in the morning
Sorry Finny i forgot to convert it into pounds for you, you have anouther pm. Come on you tubby lot get those weights in, very quiet on this thread i fear the worst for some of you :011: . Oh by the way 15 minutes on the treadmill at an average speed of 10.3 km ph and ten minutes on the stepper and 26 lengths of the pool plus the obvious suana and steam room. At this rate i might even risk making my five a side comeback next week :54:
What's that? 5 sausages on either side of the plate? you're :dead horse: you know it and i know it :005: :59:
Loving this years competion, more loss today :54: . And i'm going to start on some lieght weights tomorrrow two weeks agead of schedule plus i've decided i'm definately going to play five a side on wednesday barring a major setback :028: . 6 goals....all the elements are conspiring to make this a most ill fated weight reduction pledge.
Lots going to the JJB...don't reckon they'll be too much Holland and Barrett Fayre on the buffet bars en-route.

Slim Like Gentleman Jim 2011 Championship - Week 1 ResultsAdmin - First a bit of book-keeping. We have a lot of new entrants this year but in order to keep this on track you all need to try get your numbers in every Friday. I spend more time chasing down people than doing the updates and believe me, that isn't the best way of spending my time. It is also not fair to the ones that manage to get their results in. Sometimes travelling or other events makes it difficult, and I understand that, the default for missing a week is keeping your weight the same and a :yellow: But if you miss reporting your weight two weeks in a row, I will delete you from the league tables and stats for this year. :red: Commentary - This week was a short week. But there were some very impressive results posted (hopefully that wasn't an equipment malfunction on the scales part or a dodgy battery if you have a fancy one). The week had two gents that managed to lose 6 pounds (!) followed by a pack of several that netted a loss of 4. This week's stars were AlFayedsChecquebook and EpsomRaver who both shed 6 pounds. Right behind them followed a very much improved (and motivated) FatFreddy, BigAlFFC, WhiteJC, and FFCSteve. As a group we lost a total of 42 pounds or 1.62 pounds per person.
Naughty boy and Must Try Harder honours of the week (other the ones not posting in time) was TraversBarney adding 2 pounds followed by VicHalomsLoveChild and Fernhurst who put on 1 pound each.
In the League Tables, since this is week one, The Total Loser will obviously look the same as the weekly loss. In the pound for pound, AlFayed has the lead over EpsonRaver and WhiteJC in third.
Feel free to click on the links which will put up some nice charts. And should I have made any mistakes plase PM me. I am pretty sure it all works but there is always a chance I could make a data entry error.
Good luck and keep it all up.

Cheers Finster, very pleased with my first week, this week nothing is happening so far despite upping the work in the gym. Hopefully my long awaited return to 5 a side wednesday should get the ball rolling again. On a differant note shouldn't Snowy and blacie and Sipwell try putting on a bit of weight?
Now that I am off holiday and back at university and my gym I will back on the wagon. I figured it would work ok and it would only be fair to give Fred a extra week at the gym to even it up a bit :hook:
Taking a long hard look at myself as we speak....unfortunately it's through a wine glass full of a quite delightful Sancerre that was on offer pre Christmas....Monday week after we spank Wigan...thats when all the hard work starts...you'll see.

Looks like Fred and I are about the same size again this year as last. I am starting down only 2 from last year's beginning weight but that is because I did strength training the entire fall and winter so far Fred and now on maintenance only......more muscle from last year, means more fat burn! You are going down my friend. :59: Time to shed!
That's made me feel a bit better seeing the results I'm defo going to try a bit harder from now on. When did you get bigger than me FFC that's bad!!!! I didn't know that. And sepwell should you not be on a weight gain diet?!!!

I carry the extra weight better Fletch being that much taller than you :59: Ridgey i have the advantage that i'm giving up the booze (yep still haven't touched a drop) you've already done that ages ago so no benefit there . American James will get lured in by Dunkin doughnuts or similar and gain weight. Saying that this week is very slow, but at least i'm now showing a loss for this week.

Although Flynny will probably read this my plan is to do the old i'm just going to the toilet trick and then sneak off, but realistically 12 pints plus twelve doulbe vodka redbulls a bit of Columbia's finest (haven't touched it in months) followed by a ruby will probably be the way it goes. On the plus side i'll probably :020: , so wont add to much weight :54:
And Ridgey how are you roughly the same weight as me? You cycle 7 trillion billion miles a day boosted by Butt butter and dont drink and eat healthy. You must be ten foot tall.
12 pints and two rubies Finny? That would mean the fat pussy HAS cut down :59: :59: :wine: :011: Knew you wouldn't last fat pants. I walk 8 miles a day and run 15-25 miles a week and I lost 1 pound last week. And I rarely drink alcohol, how is that fair?
Since when are 12 pints a problem?
Careful. Sudden weight loss can be unhealthy. Start with half a dozen pints at a sitting.
Made my return to five a side (it was seven a side) on a new much bigger pitch and must admit i was so unfit i was knackered after a few minutes, very weak getting knocked of the ball easily and my first touch was even worse than EJ's. Still a few more weeks and i'll be back to full fitness plus it must have knocked a few lb's off.

You'll get your strength back Fred! Just get out there each week and get your training done during the week. At least your out there again, that's progress. :clap_hands:
bet you had a few pints and a doner after the match, just to make yourself feel better of course lol.
let's see how Freddy does on the weigh in tomorrow. I have a feeling he'll post a donut! :hook:

oooooohh just done a weigh in and it's horrendous :014: , but like a boxer trying to make the weight i'll have anouther go after i've done a spin class, but my legs are very stiff after the football wednesday so i dont think i'll do too well. Had roast pork lastnight and i can add multi lbs after them only to drop it all again the next day. You definately wont be seeing any :028: :008: Smilies from me on monday. On the plus side i'm toning up a bit.
I'm 4lbs lighter this week Fredster so on your tail. you on the other hand have probably put on two of the 5 u lost last week so i am ahead of you and you have had an extra week on the diet :005: :005: :005:

with the amount of harry hollocks and hot air you spout you should have lost at least 9 lbs by now

Slim Like Gentleman Jim 2011 Championship - Week 2 ResultsAdmin - Thank you all for doing a great job getting your weights in. Not many complaints from my end :clap_hands: Commentary - This week Airfix hit the drum in a big way and went for gold posting a terrific 5 pounds drop. Blingo and Fernhurst were in hot pursuit and posted a very good 4 pound drop. The going is likely to get more difficult as we move on since the first thing you lose is liquids so now it is likely to get tougher. But don't despair and keep up the good work. :045:
On the other end of the spectrum FatFreddy (The Lindsey Lohan of FoF) had a massive setback and clocked in with a three pound gain which gives him a share of the naughty boy of the week together with TraversBarney who didn't lose anything but stayed put but is the only competitor who actually has put on weight.
EpsomRaver is beginning to put some distance between the crowd by posting another impressive number. Down 9 pounds already after two weeks. That brought him alone to the front of the league table ahead of Airfix, and WhiteJC, AlFayedsChecquebook, FFCSteve a pound behind Airfix. In the pound for pound category EpsomRaver still has the lead ahead of WhiteJC and Airfix.
As a group we have now lost a total of 77 pounds or 2.96 pounds per person which is a good number and up a pound from last week. Now if we can only get Airfix and FatFreddy focused that number should grow even higher...
And should I have made any mistakes plase PM me. I am pretty sure it all works.
Good luck and keep it all up.

Do you lot actually realize what we've collectively achieved? We've lost 77 lbs... that's 40% of Frank Lampard. A bit more effort and we can make the stupid git disappear completely.

Grrr me and my big mouth, put 2lb on overnight but still posting a slight loss for the week. I should imagine now though some people will start slipping up a bit and it wont be long till Blingo cracks.
After a bad start to the week with lots of pies in Wigan I've managed to show a loss this week overall I'm only showing a very small loss but I'm on a roll now and next Friday I will show a huge loss
Blingo wont crack fat pants, steady but sure weight loss all the way now. 2lbs LOST this week.
Another lb lost and I managed to get my results in on time Spence. But I'm not hopeful for next week. Having shaved off all my body hair and removed a couple of loose teeth I don't know where I'm going to get losses for next week. Organ donation is one avenue I may look up :021:

French Connection Silver Fox's desperate weight reduction tips.
You've had a bad week - a couple of rubies and fried breakfasts plus an evening or two on the beer with friends. The weekly weigh-in is looming very close now and you are getting desperate to lose some weight, anything, so as not to be this week's bad boy. Here are some tips which may help just before the weigh-in. I've put them in ascending order of desperation, as you search to take off those last few ounces.
• You weigh less in the morning than in the evening.
• Don't eat or drink anything a few hours (as many as possible) before your weigh-in.
• Do some sport/exercise just before the weigh-in. Sex is a good option and has added side benefits.
• Take a dump or a leak, preferably both.
• Have a sauna. This could be good for a few pounds.
• Have a haircut.
• Shave. (starting to get desperate now).
• Cut your finger nails and toe nails.
• Any chance of squeezing out another quick leak? Gone on, force it a bit.
• Pick your nose (getting really desperate now).
• Shave your legs but don't go too far up your thighs unless you're totally desperate (or are RidgeRider).
• Spit.
• Taking a strong laxative could help but I wouldn't advise it.
• Putting your fingers down your throat to throw up reeks of anorexia (amongst other things).
• I wouldn't advise amputation despite its obvious efficiency.
• Pray ? Walking to your local church to light a candle comes under the heading of exercise (see above).
• Resting your big belly on the window sill while standing on the scales counts as "doing a Trevor Brooking" and is neither permitted nor a FoF thing to do. Forget it.
Do feel free to chip in (no dietary pun intended) with other suggestions.

Slim Like Gentleman Jim 2011 Championship - Week 3 Results
Admin - Sorry for being a tad late posting results but there were some last minute warriors and I had to deal with some work shite that I could have been without, but here is the results
Commentary - As we get deeper into this thing, people will lose less. It is easier to shed liquids and fat upfront so don't despair if your scale is talking greek to you at the moment. It is normal. Just keep going. Onwards and forwards. Next week is hump week and you are halfway there.
This week we have both good and bad news. The good news is that the Rambler dropped a solid 4 pounds for the week and AlFayedsChequebook and Airfix continuous their good run only a pound behind with a 3 lb drop.
On the other end of the spectrum our Welsh wizard os5889 managed to put ON 5 pounds... Now besides being a Slim Like Jim all time weekly record, he blames it on the gym... Now he is right in that muscle weighs more than fat, but unless he is on the Fatima Whitbread steroid diet there is likely more to that story. Anyway the Naughty Boy/Must Try Harder award is clearly his and it also makes him the sole person who has "tried" to diet and 3 weeks into the program is 2 pounds heavier than at kick off...Very Shefki Kuqi/Frank Lampard'ish.
Overall in the league tables it is getting interesting. EpsomRaver and Airfix are tied at the top on the overall with 10 pounds loss and AlFayedChequebook just a slim single pound behind. In the pound for pound category EpsomRaver still has the lead ahead Airfix and AlFayed but it is very tight now, and others are not far behind to make a push the honours.
As a group we have now lost a total of 99 pounds or 3.81 pounds per person which is a good number and up a pound from last week. Now if we can only get Owen to stop taking steroids that number should grow even higher...
And should I have made any mistakes plase PM me. I am pretty sure it all works.
Good luck and keep it all up.

Yippee! Still up there... despite having been on a diet for 6 weeks before this project began. I have now lost a total of three stone and I still have another 1½ to go so I am keeping up the pressure. I won't eat that pancake until I get to 14st!
Thanks for all your hard work on collating the results finnster01.

FAT WEIGHS THE SAME AS MUSCLE! it is an urban myth otherwise. I thought the same as you Finn and got shot down in flames, if you replaced the same mass of fat with muscle you
would weigh the same

Is that why being called a "muscle-head" or a "fat-head" are equally offensive?

I think that is a question for Konchesky. I still have a couple of strands left. Makes the trip to the barber a very short exercise though.
but no cheaper lol lol
It is weigh-in day today chaps. PM me your number when you get a moment. Thanks.
@ Mr. Finnster. My weight is steady. I'll inform you when it starts to drop. No point in repeating the same weight all the time ;-)

Slim Like Gentleman Jim 2011 Championship - Week 4 Results
Admin - Hold your horses Mr Airfix, late warriors and the closing of the transfer window caused me a brief delay. Sorry about that. Starting next week I will not be so patient
Commentary - Hump week came and went and as I predicted the going has become tougher. The good news is that from here on it is only 4 weeks left. You are now officially past half way :yay:
This week our Welsh Wizard os5889 bounced back from a disastrous performance and lost an impressive 4 points together with Airfix and AlFayedsChequebook. Airfix continuous to defy gravity and must now surely buy a new wardrobe. There were a lot of people who stood still on the same spot.
The bad news was that 3 participants put on weight. FatFreddy put on 1 lb, Fletchino 2 lbs but The Naughty Boy/Must Try Harder award goes to Logicalman who went for the hattrick and scored an extra 3 lbs. That also put him 1 pound over initial weight since the "slimming" started. Somebody hide the pies please... On the other end, Airfix became the first to hit the Stone barrier. Well done! :clap_hands: This is in particular impressive given the fact he started slimming in November.
Overall in the league tables it is tight. Airfix now holds the top spot alone with 14 lbs, one pound ahead of AlFayedsChecquebook and EpsomRaver in third with 10lbs. In the relegation battle we have Nick The Swede, Fletchino and the West Ham of Slim Jim Logicalman all within 2 pounds so a good week and lift them over the drop zone.
In the pound for pound category Alfayed has now taken the lead at 6.31% just a short nose (or hernia) ahead of Airfix and with EpsomRaver third.
As a group we have now lost a total of 119 pounds or 4.58 pounds per person.
And should I have made any mistakes plase PM me. I am pretty sure it all works.
Good luck and keep it all up.

I put on a pair of trousers the other day and my missus accused me of looking "emaciated". Never heard that said about me before.
By crikey, I miss pancakes, though!
Thanks for this impressive analysis. I stay put... not an pound lost. Then again, I am hardly eating and drinking massive quantities of water... Guess I should try sports now. Sigh.

Oi! Fredster! PORKER!!!!
:011:
I should also mention that Mr Freddy gets a special award this week for going out of his way to get his weight in this week. He has had a computer breakdown and ended up phoning his weight to Mr LBNo11 who then pursued to PM me the result.
Top effort!!! :clap_hands:
Staffswhite needs some encouragement hasn't lost a thing since it started !
Come on you can do it lock yourself in at the weekend leave the pints and kebabs alone
Ideally you could......

I think that device is more prudent for Logicalman at the moment. The only reason StaffsWhite actually shows up is I had to enter a default value in my spreadsheet in order to not screw up too many things, since he never got back with any weight updates but he is still listed in the original weigh-in numbers (red) but said he would participate. He/she is not in the competition anymore.
i.e. You won't find his name in the league tables. Which will happen to others if I don't get PM's 2 weeks in a row.
Don't forget to report your weight number on Friday.
Thanks
Slim Like Gentleman Jim 2011 Championship - Week 5 Results
Admin - Nothing new to report on the admin side other than again there are some late lurkers that needs to get the numbers in or I will just cut over and use last weeks results. Two weeks in a row without reporting numbers will result in a Howard Webb and a :red:
Commentary - Only 3 more weigh-ins left. There is light at the end of the tunnel. A little more discipline and March will be a month with quite an extra spring in some's steps :yay:
Unfortunately this week our Welsh Wizard os5889 again stole the headlines by posting a gain of 4 lbs resulting in the purchase of a new set of scales due to "scale smashage" he tells me. he is now 2 pounds heavier than when we started... Airfix continues on his hummingbird diet and took the weekly honors by shedding another 3 pounds together with WhiteNoise. There were again a lot of people who stood still on the same spot and a good few put on a pound which isn't that unusual at this stage. A little focus this week, and it will be gone again and then some.
Overall in the league tables it has opened up a bit. The "Big 3 but getting smaller" are moving ahead. Airfix holds the top spot with an impressive 17 lbs, ahead of AlFayedsChecquebook at 13 and EpsomRaver in third with 10lbs. In the relegation battle we saw FatFreddy join a big group at 1 pound total loss with only Fletchini (0) and os5889 (-2) behind them. os5889 is having a Derby type of season and looks set to break the record.
In the pound for pound category Airfix is also in the lead ahead of Airfix and with EpsomRaver third but Blingo is beginning to sniff a medal and is closing in.
As a group we have now lost a total of 128 pounds or 4.92 pounds per person
And should I have made any mistakes plase PM me. I am pretty sure it all works.
Good luck and keep it all up.

At least one more stone, perhaps one and a half, to go mate. You'll walk past me in the street, you will.
Yesterday, Mrs AF9 at last banned me from wearing a particular top ever again as it was hanging off me so badly.
For those interested, I have now lost nearly 3½ stone. For those even further interested... www.dukandiet.co.uk (http://www.dukandiet.co.uk)

Just read up a bit about your diet, looks like it would cost you a fortune to keep up. Also looks quite similar to the Atkins, hope you don`t get the same Satans breath side effects!!

Just read up a bit about your diet, looks like it would cost you a fortune to keep up. Also looks quite similar to the Atkins, hope you don`t get the same Satans breath side effects!!
I have to admit that it is costing us more than our usual food budget but it is a pain that needs to be undergone. And yes, the breath can get a little stinky but a toothbrush and toothpaste about the person usually resolves that. Can't deny the results, though.
True, results are very impressive
Oh dear, Mr Blingo is whooping Fat Freddy's Cat impressively. With two weigh ins to go, there is no way that fat pants can catch me up :038: :038: :038:

Get on those scales folks. It's Friday again. :012:
Well done guys.
Couldnt bring myself to step on the scales, let alone pubicize my weight, but have been going to the gym every morning and gone down a dress size so I am with you in spirit.
I just started the humming bird diet myself so hoping to fit into that darned wooden seat a bit better come the Spring!!

Those wooden seats are the best one's in the house WW much better than the hammy :020: or the Riverside retirement stand. Keep of them rotten cheeses you like and the weight will drop off.

Slim Like Gentleman Jim 2011 Championship - Week 6 Results
Admin - There seems to be a bit of people running out of gas but with only two weigh-ins to go I'll just encourage you to dig into the cellar and make a push for the finish line. Any pound of weight lost is a good pound (unless your name is Kate Moss). Remember that. I also decided to add another graph which shows the trend for each participant. It is a bit hard to read if you are not reading the spreadsheet itself, but it gives you an idea if you can figure out which line is yours. I am also planning to add comparisons to last year in the final week, but I can tell you that on average we are behind year 1 results, but on the upside Airfix is well positioned to break the world Slim Like Gentleman Jim record
Commentary - Only 2 more weigh-ins left now. That also means spring isn't far away. :yay:
As I said above, Airfix is on track to beat the world record both in pounds and percentage. Also our Welsh Wizard os5889 continues to under perform and added another pound together with WhiteNoise and Logicalman. Owen is now 3 pounds heavier than when we started. He claims he is bulking up for the rugby but...still wins the naughty boy of the week award.
Meanwhile Airfix continues on his hummingbird diet and had another week topping the charts together with WhiteJC at a healthy 3 pound loss. Closely followed by RidgeRider (the buttbutter effect kicking in) and FFCSteve a short pound behind. Also AlFayedsChequebook became the second man to break the stone barrier and congrats to him! :clap_hands:
Overall in the league tables Airfix is doing a Sir Alex and tightening the grip. However behind him it is getting closer. Airfix holds the top spot with at 20 lbs, ahead of AlFayedsChecquebook on 14 and EpsomRaver in third with 11lbs. However WhiteJC and FFCSteve are catching up only a pound behind the medals. In the relegation battle LogicalMan, Fletchino and certainly osWestHam5889 look like they are in trouble with 2 weigh-ins to go.
In the pound for pound category Airfix is in the lead ahead of Alfayed but now WhiteJC has moved up to third. Very close for third though.
As a group we have now lost a total of 142 pounds or 5.46 pounds per person
And should I have made any mistakes plase PM me. I am pretty sure it all works.
Good luck and keep it all up.

Thanks again for your most excellent stats! :Sparkyticus:
As an aside... anyone know how long it takes for the skin to shrink - it's starting to hang around a bit! :58:
:airfix:
I had a chat with OS in the pub before the game on Monday evening. He didn't look any heavier than before. I had the pleasure of talking to Airfix after the game too and he definitely looks a lot slimmer.
Not many candidates for the FoF bumper sticker prize yet. Finnster seems to be the only entrant.
Here's a reminder of the categories :
1. The best excuse given for not achieving their target or generally under-achieving.
2. The best use of a football cliché in this competition.
No reason why I can't enter for one of my one stickers. So, in honour of Sparky's two favourite expressions, used liberally in all his interviews :
Obviously, its tough out there and, in fairness, there are obviously a lot of temptations. Obviously, beer and wine are going to be playing a part and, in fairness, cheese doesn't help either. I've obviously been cutting out sugar and, in fairness, its obviously helping but business travel and restaurants obviously make it difficult. Although, in fairness, I have obviously been eating small portions.
Reminder: Weigh-in Day tomorrow. Only two weigh-ins left.
It will be a game of two halves now. The ball is round and anybody can come from behind. It is not over until the final whistle goes. There are still plenty of room for a few upsets. Obviously the lad Airfix has been magnificent throughout the tournament, but I fully expect some of the other lads to step up their game. :58:
Weights Please.
Thank You
I'm going to need one more day to post the results as I have some work issue to deal with. Don't worry, it is coming, just bear with me.
Meanwhile, our FatFreddysCat was spotted inside the cooking jar...

Slim Like Gentleman Jim 2011 Championship - Week 7 Results
Admin - The last Weight-in will be on March 1st (Tuesday) and not Friday, which gives people a few extra days to press towards the finish line. The wind seems to have gone out of the sails of quite a few and a lot of tardy reporting, but since I am slow myself posting these results due to unintended work issues interfering with my FOF time, I can't kick anyone out this late in the competition.
Commentary - Only 1 more weigh-in left now and your 8 weeks of hell is over :yay:
Airfix has now broken the world record both in pounds and percentage with one more weigh-in to go. If he can stay on course until Tuesday, a new top mark to aim towards for the Slim Jim next year will be set. This week he was again tops of the charts but the Rambler and Logicalman all clocked in a 3 pound loss as well. Naughty Boy - Must Try Harder goes to FFCSteve who added 2 pounds.
Overall in the league tables there were no changes. Airfix holds the top spot with at 23 lbs, ahead of AlFayedsChecquebook on 14 and EpsomRaver in third with 13lbs. There are quite a few circling around 11 lbs and all could break the magical Stone barrier with a strong push before the competition ends.
In the pound for pound League table Airfix is going for the first double in Slim Jim history. He is ahead of Alfayed and WhiteJC hanging in there by a very short nose for the bronze. Very close for third though.
As a group we have now lost a total of 164 pounds or 6.31 pounds per person
And should I have made any mistakes plase PM me. I am pretty sure it all works.
Good luck and keep it all up.

Thanks finn - great work.
I think there is a slight error in your numbers though. The total loss is 164lbs, not 158, meaning the average is 6.31 per person (avg percentage = 2.89%).
Soccerbase.com has Fat Frank weighing in at 163lbs (:tom:). We have managed to lose the tosser completely!!! :yay:

Mr Airfix,
Thanks for sussing out that error on the total+average calculation. There was indeed a cell left out. I fixed it and updated the original result. Well spotted!!
Is there anyway of finding my starting weight and finish weight from last year Finny? Though i remember the results were none too clever then aswell :035: I still think we should do a May to July comp when us winter hibernaters are out and about.

Spence,
I have those on tap and was going to post a nice little comparison for those that participated both years, including total averages after the end of slimming season. I'll keep these results on tap also for next year.
On the second note, there is only one Prem title to play for each season and so is the case with Slim Jim. It is difficult to win. Perhaps you need to go look for a new manager in the window? The Special One wants to come back to England you know... :dft012:

I'd kill for a curry (amongst many many other things)... alas, they are currently prohibited.
For the record - fast approaching 4st lost now. Not been this weight since I was on the way up first time!

Oi you slackers, remember tomorrow (Tuesday) and March 1st and the final weigh-in for this years endurance test.
Do nor forget to get your final number in
You have a pm Finny, to be honest very poor effort by myself, but at least it stopped me gaining weight . Just started up on the dust (please chaps dont make the bags stupidly heavy, or you may find the bag has accidently ripped and spilt it's contents on your doorstep :014: ) and the gardens so will now lose weight quickly ( too late  ). But a very big thanks is in order for once again finding the time and effort to run the Slim like Jim . :Sparkyticus: :Sparkyticus: :Sparkyticus:

Slim Like Gentleman Jim 2011 Championship - Final Results
Admin I will add another email with some more charts for those that participated last year as well and do some comparisons. That will have to wait a little bit, as I just wanted to get the final results out.
Commentary - I will get back with full commentary, but I just wanted to apologize for being late because of a pair of slippers, a stepladder and a very heavy box (that despite FoF folklore did not contain a collection of sticky magazines of dubious nature). Just want to congratulate Airfix with a totally amazing run and results. He broke the Slim Jim world record in both categories and although I did not manage to secure the Fulham prizes I wanted (thank you FX Pro for nothing) maybe next year I can get them to pony up something.

Thanks finn for posting the results, I never believed that you were trying to put mucky mags up in the loft - everyone knows that yours are under a loose floorboard in the spare room!
Thank you too for your sterling efforts in corralling this random rabble into some semblance of order. The total loss of 182 pounds means that we almost lost TraversBarney (though I still prefer to say that we managed to lose Odious Dogbreath, or Fat Lumplard with enough weight of soil to bury him completely!).
:dft004: :dft004: :dft004: I'd like to thank my dietician, my mother and father, my wife, sister and all the family, :dft004: my friends who never doubted me for a second (yeah, right!), my pet rock, :dft004: my stuffed Monkey toy, Flat Eric, :dft004: the Queen, Emergency Bitter, Mrs Jenkins from number 42, :dft004: everyone who knows me and the panel for making this marvellous voting decision :dft004: :dft004: :dft004:
For the record, I am now 196 pounds and falling. I aim to get to 182, where I will stop. At the very latest, I shall move on to the next phase of the diet on May 1st as I really don't want to be still on this phase when I go out to the US on holiday. If I make it there, I shall have lost a grand total of 75 pounds (5 stone 5 pounds or 34 kilos) which represents nearly 30% of my old bodyweight. And, according to the BMI index, I shall STILL be "overweight"!!
I'll keep you posted.

Congrats to Mr. Airfix for winning the competition. I think we all should chip in to buy him some food, as he apparently has been starving himself in the last couple of months. Given his irregular activities on this board I am wondering whether Airifx isn't poverty-struck as of late.
Let's present the facts:
1) he hardly ate;
2) he hardly contributed to this forum (access only to the internet via the library?)
Surely this implies he cannot afford food or a subscription to internet?
In any case: thanks Mister Finn for doing the bookkeeping. My diet has been less than a success but I can comfort myself in the fact that I needed not lose weight. I am fine the way I am, but I stayed clear of biscuits and other instant fatmakers in the last couple of months. Let the crunching begin!
Well done Mr Airfix! Keep up the good work.
Just noticed you didn't take part yourself Finn! Must be the perfect weight eh?
Congrats Airfix! You really are a shadow of your former self. In fact, you're virtually 2 dimensional these days.
Fortunately, in these days of modern technology, there are 3D cameras so that even in your 2 dimensional form we can still enjoy photos of you online in full 3D.

I didn't participate last year either Mr FFCSteve.
I think sometimes it is important to have an independent ref in competitions like this. For me personally, weight wise, I have improved significantly due to a health scare 2 years ago and I have shed 60 pounds since. I am now only about 170 +/- which is a big difference from being a tank at 230 who didn't give a poo. It was either that or an early bath for me. Sometimes that is what it takes to wake up.
And if I can help any good Fulham fans to drop a few pounds each year, then I am a very happy man

Niiiiiiiiiiiice! Liberating, isn't it?
Good work Finny. Thanks m8. :54:
I want to chime in with a big thanks to Finn as well for doing all the work to keep this going. Well done Sir!
I also want to congratulate Mr. Airfix, amazing results and truly inspiring.
Well done to Airfix, will we ever see his record beaten? Maybe we could buy a stapler to secure all that loose skin he must have flapping around.
Thanks to Finnster again this year for all the hard work, shame I didn`t put in quite so much effort myself

Holly cow mate! That is some serious weight loss. Well done to you!
Oh & thanks for your hard work running this not so impressive diet. (Except Airfix of course!)
Hope your feeling better now, after your accident?
At the outset of this competition, I offered a FoF bumper sticker to the winner of :
1. The best excuse given for not achieving their target or generally under-achieving.
2. The best use of a football cliché in this competition.
Over and above Finnster's sterling work running this competition which, in itself, warrants a FoF bumper sticker, it seems to me that he wins the the 'best use of football cliché' quote for a number of his posts. I can't see any valid candidates for the 'under-achievement excuse' award but I'm open to suggestions from the last 17 pages.
Any objections or other candidate recommendations, bearing in mind its too late to slap in a potential award winning post now ?

I have two recommendations:
1) Our Welsh Wizard Owen (OS what ever number he uses)for managing to put on weight in a slimming competition and then followed by trying to boil his body away (although I do think that was after the slimming period closed)
2) The second nominee is Nick the Swede who informed me that he had moved apartments and his scales were lost in a box somewhere so he couldn't weigh in...
Splendid recommendations. I'll see if I can rustle up a 3rd sticker. If you 3 gentlemen would like to PM me your name and address, I'll pop a FoF sticker in the post to you, hoping that OS hasn't boiled dry.
Down to 217 now,and has the weather hots up i will lose loads :028: How's everyone else getting on now?
Was 203lbs (92 kilos) on the 1st March, now 191 (86.5 kilos). Aiming for 182 (82.5 kilos) by the end of April, if I can. Whatever I weigh on 30th April, that is where I finish it and move on to stage 3.
Total loss so far 66lbs (4st 10lbs) or 30 kilos.

Have to agree with that.
I bet you feel pretty good right now Mr Airfix? That is an amazing feat. Took me well over two years to shed my excess, but as a result I literally can feel my life expectancy took a major turn for the better (and so says my doctor) :045:

Thanks guys, I can't pretend that it hasn't been hard, there is much that I miss. Mrs Airfix has promised me her special hot coronation chicken for my first celebration meal (I can almost taste it already) so there is something to look forward to!
I do feel better about myself but less in a "healthy" way and more in a mental state. It is wonderful to look at clothes and know that there will be a size in the shop to fit me. I have lost 6-7 inches off my waist and am having fun re-creating my wardrobe. Had a clear-out of clothes that don't fit me any more and they are currently in the spare room awaiting selling on eBay - gotta make some money to buy the new clothes somehow.
Yesterday I was in shorts and a t-shirt. When Mrs Airfix saw me she commented that I looked mighty fine. Can't argue with that, can I?
I was astounded and appalled on Sunday to find out that Airfix's belly is smaller than my own!
Damn this constant beer drinking!        :039:
