2 Keepers ...again?!?!
And no Willian, is he injured?  Also Duffy not on the bench. Gulp. Cedric's omitted because he's an Arsenal loan, and Kurzawa's injured, so our only defender on the bench is Diop and young Charlie Robinson (who, to be fair, has always impressed at youth level, and I'd love to see him get a path to the first team, but not necessarily like this). No fullbacks. I guess Marco is thinking he can put BDR in at fullback if needed and bring on Dan James on the wing. That's an incredibly thin set of subs..

I caught that a moment too late. Was modifying furiously (as you were posting, no doubt). Gotta proofread more! Mostly, I just spotted the 2 keepers on the bench again and thought "what is that about?"

Slightly surprising to see Tosin start. Disappointing that Willian isn't included, assumed it was a late injury or illness situation. Nothing strange with the youngsters on the bench (other than a second goalie) given that Duffy, Kurzawa, Soares, Cairney, Palhinha, Kebano and apparently Willian are all unavailable.

Maybe Wicken is really talented and Rodak is on the way out.... Giving the kid a mentor on the bench?... I don't know....

I really think we are going to get a drubbing today. We really miss Paulinha, especially for this game, we will be dominated in midfield....and then no Wilian either...

My score prediction is 0-5.

Hope I am wrong, but I have felt it in my water 😢

We just can't get out of our own half. Our only move is for Leno to pass it short, then we try to work it down the wing. No other plan, nothing, so predictable. I really fear a drubbing today.

Agree with Sean Davis.  Fulham can't seem to keep the ball.  They need to slow the game down and keep possession.  Stop giving the ball away.

They have looked hungrier than us, more intensity, we've not got close to them in midfield. When we've had the ball we haven't been able to break them down and create openings, but they have been able to cut through our midfield and defence at will. We don't have the same energy and fight that we had in the first half of the season.

I can't imagine a scenario where a professional defender could have a worse performance than what Robinson is having. Twice misses headers leading to goals. Doesn't even challenge on another. Has an own goal luckily marked off. Fallen asleep on more than one occasion tracking his runner. His closing down is ineffective. I could go on.

He is a red card waiting to happen. I can see him getting frustrated and doing something daft. Marco needs to get him off for his own good at this point.

Tete just throwing the ball into the Arsenal player

Tete has been one of our players of the season so far but he is having an absolute shocker today, get cedric on now! Everyone's been awful but tete especially, woeful

Cedric is an Arsenal loanee. He's not in the team today.

As the bench shows, we have no options today. Gonna have to either play harder or take a washing.

Not sure how to fix this but Robinson has to come off.  Worst performance in years from Fulham. Embarrassing, in fact, I think they were all out on the piss last night. They look like it.

I really think we are going to get a drubbing today. We really miss Paulinha, especially for this game, we will be dominated in midfield....and then no Wilian either...

My score prediction is 0-5.

Hope I am wrong, but I have felt it in my water 😢

I think 0-5 would be a good result for us! Men vs boys!!

They have looked hungrier than us, more intensity, we've not got close to them in midfield. When we've had the ball we haven't been able to break them down and create openings, but they have been able to cut through our midfield and defence at will. We don't have the same energy and fight that we had in the first half of the season.
Thanks for the summary. As soon as I've heard Marco saying we're playing very good against them in the first match away, I started to worry. Arsenal could easily defeat us in that game and we were lucky to hold our own until late. I hoped we'll learn our lesson and start much more intense this game. I can't understand what happened to us the last 1 month. We're so slow and sloppy.

Some sympathy there. He was throwing it to AP but the referee ended up blocking him off.

Regardless, you have to throw that down the line and get to halftime. Can't throw it to the middle of the field.

While they might not  - probably not - do any better, could James and Vinicius be worse than the players currently out there?

I feel that we have really overachieved this season as a team, and that we are starting to see the players go back to their normal levels. Players like BDR and Reed, were looking competitive at this level for a several months, but I think we are seeing that they really are Championship standard and were riding the crest of a wave. I could add a couple of others to that list (Robinson and Tete) on today's showing but I'm not sure if it's just a poor showing or true levels. The full backs are really the fundamental strength of the team when we do well; solid in defence and able to support attacks, while also giving us insurance against counter-attacks. But when they don't play well we are really vulnerable and the midfield and CBs can't cope.

Really didn't think we were going to get anything out of this game anyway.  Palhinha is back for Man United so hopefully on to better things.

It's time for damage limitations.  None of the players are really playing that well might as well bring on Wilson and James and let them run about.  Could be good to get Mitro and Pereira off and let them rest for United.  Mitro is going to get any service and Pereira just looks tired.

Who knows Wilson or James could come on and get a hat trick  :dft011:

So far Mitro has been most dangerous when the ball has been crossed in, keeps beating the defender in the air.

Yet he's had maybe 2 crosses all game!

It's not rocket science, get the ball in early!

On the plus side - Mitro doesn't look inhibited by injury any more, but seems to be lacking sharpness. He's been ok, although should have done better where he has won the ball well with his physicality, but then given it away and put us back under pressure...

Pereira is not creative enough. If we want to be upgraded next season I feel we need a quick creative player at the #10 position. Someone who can challenge Pereira for a starting spot. TC is not that person.

Mitro been one of our better performers?
Shadow of himself in my opinion. Not a good day at the office.
I strongly disagree. Superb holdup play throughout the whole match. Not his fault most of the other players have been extremely bad. And definitely not one of our 4 worst players today like you said.

Some of his hold play has been decent. But his positioning and pressing have been abysmal
Still disagree, and very much so at that.
Me too

Up there with the most gutless 45 minutes in memory. Bkackburn at Loftus Rd and Man City at the Cottage compare.
Mitro, Robinson, Lukic and Tete all competing for worst player of the match. Robinson fractionslly edges it in my opinion.

Blimey oh Riley, let's hope bringing Palhina and Willian back plus Silva waking up and playing Diop will reverse our fortunes next week.

Mitro one of our better players, disagree with those saying otherwise but respect their opinion as ever.

Zero service, great hold up play, hit the bar.

Why do we have two keepers in the lineup? Surely a youngster couldve been given that spot. And is Duffy injured? The way tosin has played today i would rather have Duffy as the back up Cb! Just been poor all round, Leno the only player whose earnt his wage so far

Why would you want Duffy when he's injured?

Read my post again, i was asking if he was injured

Yep, sorry. And yes, he is.

Listen, it's not Mitros fault.

He's clearly not 100%.

Whether that's the injury still or something else, he's not fit.

I find it disappointing that there are some who are suggesting that Mitro is not trying and is displaying a lack of effort and commitment.  I think that is to totally misread his situation. We all know that Mitro is trying to come back from a persistent injury, he hasn't looked properly fit for weeks now.  When Mitro was scoring for fun he was, by his standards, quick and sharp. A lot of his goals came from his ability to use his engine arrive in the box in time to be a threat. The fact that isn't happening is not, in my opinion, down to lack of commitment, it's injury.

If Tosin starts over Diop again Silva needs a psychiatric assessment

Agreed - he isn't playing well but it's not down to a lack of trying

Well the sooner we close this thread the sooner we forget about that abject first half performance.

See you on the main discussion forum to tear this one apart.

Where did I put my bottle of wine..
