We are looking great! 22-1 after tonight. We will beat Jimmer at home on Feb 26th on national t.v. It will be on CBS starting at 11 am Pacific time. Game has been sold out for a couple months already. All the rest of our home games are already sold out.

Steve Fisher is a great man and coach! I am so happy since he arrived. He is a class act and I wouldn't want anyone else guiding our ship.  :wine:

My boys are now 25-1. Most wins in Div I basketball this year. My Aztecs and Ohio State are the only two teams with only 1 loss. Tough win over UNLV in Las Vegas tonight. Cannot wait to go to Las Vegas next month for the MWC tournament. Im really bummed that Fulham aren't playing that weekend because I would have loved to have bet on the game.

honestly mate i am really happy for you but please remember that you are a sweet 16 team at best, the mtn west conference is a joke, you have a good team dont get me wrong but saying that you have the most wins in D1 is a bit of a joke. Please step up your nonconference schedule before you beg for respect, my uofm team could have went undefeated in the mwc as well, you are not Butler(Last year) and never will be I hate to burst your midmajor bubble but no matter how many times you beat UNLV no one will take you seriously, Play Michigan State's nonconference schedule and lose 1 game an I'll bow at your feet, but until then you are just another 5 seed who will have their season ended by a 12

:tom: are you talking about? You really shouldn't talk about something unless you know what you are talking about. Are you drunk and sh!t faced right now? The MWC conference is not a joke. We will be no less than a 3 seed. If we win out, we will be a #1 seed. Michigan State was and is so over rated this year. We have the 6th and 7th ranked teams in the nation right now and we are the 4th ranked conference in the nation right now. Our rpi is #4 in the nation and the hated byu cougars have the #1 rpi in te nation. So please explain to me how the MWC conference is a joke? Oh and the MWC is not mid major in basketball, just ask ESPN that. Btw, your UofM team wouldn't even come close to going undefeated in the MWC. People don't understand how hard it is to play in the MWC with the different altitudes. We would smoke you guys! I am going to the football at the big house next year when we play you guys. Do you go to the football games? Don't be surprised when we beat you.

I was drunk and sh1tfaced, but the only ranked team you've beat was Cal and the other solid team you have played (BYU) you lost to. MSU is over rated but atleast they've played strong teams (Washington, UConn, Duke, Syracuse, Texas and all the other ranked teams in the Big Ten). You guys and BYU are pretty good but no other team in the MWC could hold their own in the Big Ten or any other major conference . As for football don't be surprised to be shite like you used to be with in 3 yrs, and coming into the Big House and beating us is probably one of the bigger jokes I've heard in a while I won't be surprised to beat you by 30

Again  :tom:! You must be drinking again. You really have no clue what you are talking about. Cal is not ranked. Just to let you know, we played Cal at Cal and Kansas played Cal at Cal. We beat Cal worse than Kansas beat them and Kansas will probably be the new #1 tomorrow. We beat Cal by 20 and Kansas only beat them by 16. So already you credibility is out the window. We have played Strong teams as well. Did you not read that we have the #4 RPI in the nation? Have you heard of Gonzage, Wichita State, St. Marys? All teams that have been ranked this year. Good teams take care of business of the court and we have done that. As for football, I have already seen one pre-season ranking by ESPN or CBS and they had the Aztecs #25 and Michigan #41. Couple years ago we barely lost to you in the Big House. If our receiver hadn't dropped a touchdown pass, we would have beat you. I will gladly bet you on this game. Mark my words, we will be a better and stronger team with Long as the head coach. Again put your money where your mouth is because you have no CLUE what you are talking about. You don't know your elbow from your ass! I will gladly bet you on the football game and the NCAA basketball seeding. Would love to watch the game at the Big House with you and watch the expression on your face when you lose.

Sober but hungover, my apologizes I miss spoke it was Gonzaga not Cal who was ranked when you played them. Saying that just because you beat a team and then another one beat them by less is a weak sauce argument like saying because the USMNT beat Spain and Spain won the World Cup that we should have won it. Going by preseason rankings Alabama beats Ohio State in lasts years national championship game, please pass that info on to Aurburn. Be realistic you lost the coach who made you and while I hope for your sake Long can continue what Hoke started but chances are you will go right back to mid level, mid conference mediocrity. Yet by saying "I don't know my ass from my elbow" and "to put my money where my mouth is" you sound like a ignorant muppet who and way too full of yourself (and your team) and a delusion disillusioned fanatic who can't see the talent of their squad objectively. I know Michigan isn't going to be challenging for a National Championship a Big Ten Title next year yet I do know that most likely we will do well against our non-conference schedule and we have the Big Ten offensive player of the year coming back. Don't get me wrong you have a solid squad but not Big Ten caliber . Enjoy your success and be happy about but don't kid yourself into thinking you can go the full 15 with the Big Boys. But good luck going forward I do enjoy watching the little guy making some noise, hopefully you can prove me wrong and your the next TCU in football and Butler in basketball.

I am going to throw out the caveat that I know nothing about San Diego State and they may be an excellent team but if your hanging your hat on wins over Gonzaga and Wichita State then your argument is a bit weak.  Gonzaga was ranked at the beginning of the year but that was on reputation.  Gonzaga may not even be a tournament team this year and Wichita State is a really good team for the MVC (which I follow by the way) but I would not call that equivalent to a Purdue or Wisconsin.  I might give you an Illinois or Minnesota.  Maybe.

Barry, don't put your foot in your mouth when you said that you don't know much about SDSU. There is a reason we are ranked #6 in the nation right now. There is also a reason we have the #4 RPI in the nation. There is a reason we have the most wins and road wins in the nation. There is a reason why the MWC conference is ranked #4 in the nation. We will probably get 4 teams in the tournament this year. SDSU, BYU, Colorado State, UNLV and New Mexico are all good teams. We lost to BYU at BYU and nobody goes in there and wins. We will beat them at home on February 26th. Watch the game, it is on national t.v. on CBS at 11am Pacific time. You will see how good of a team we have.

If  your in Ann Arbor I'll met you there, its only about a 3 hr drive and a great town to party in.If SDST are going to be good as you say they are this yr it should be a good game and and a good time.

Michigan has a great offense coming back from last year despite the system change, it should be explosive. The defense should be better, because honestly it has nowhere to go but up and also the coaching staff is going to turn it around Hoke is going to do work on the squad and Greg Mattison is going to be a great coordinator for us as well, the old Michigan attitude will be back as well as a little swagger.

Tom,
Happy things are going well but if you want to be a good college basketball team you have to take the run  down tobacco road and play Duke, Carolina &  NC St in a long weekend. Oh, & then take a run at the Cavs & my Terps. If your still standing, Clemson & Wake are waiting. Best basketball, short of the Madness of March, by far. And...............some of them actually graduate.

My boys would have no problem playing any ACC team this year. I have heard it several times on ESPN, that SDSU would give Duke all they could handle. I hope to play an ACC team in the NCAA tournament.

Things vary year to year but over the last 40 years the best of college hoops as been the ACC unless you had a guy name Wooten running the show. The Big East has been strong the last few years, Before that the Big Ten made a run and at other times the SEC has been strong but year in year out regardless of who's up that year, the ACC is as strong as it gets.

ACC is always strong just because you have Duke and North Carolina who have been strong for the last 30 odd yrs, other than that there is always the rise and the fall in the other big leagues,  but over last 10 yrs there have been a handful consistently strong teams, Duke, UNC, MSU, Syracuse, Uconn, maybe Florida and Texas.

just out of curiosity whats your strength of schedule at?
Aztecs #34 and Duke is #39. We have a better SOS than Duke. So we have a better SOS and record than Duke but they are ranked ahead of us?  :tom:

Also if we win on Saturday, it will push our SOS up to #24 from #34.

I get that you're proud of your Aztecs (as you should be), but really?  You're not going to overcome the perception of Duke (much less defending champion Duke) with one good season.  Beauty is, this ain't college football, so your boys will have every opportunity to show how good they are (or aren't) in a month.

First off, I want to say nice win by Michigan today James. You guys are squarely on the bubble now. I have to give credit to BYU, they were the better team today and absolutely deserve to be ranked ahead of us Monday. We did a good job on Jimmer today but the rest of BYU's team stepped up. BYU shot 60% from three point land and made 14 three's. They also shot 47% from the field and 86% from the free throw line. You are not going to beat many teams when they shoot like that. They deserved to win today and we didn't play bad. Great atmosphere at the game!

Missed the game, but had to give you  hard time.Michigan will be on the bubble if they can beat MSU at home and have a decent run in the Big10 tournament. I hope they can but right now im not hopeful. How do you think this will effect your seeding? Especially with Duke and Texas losing today.

I think you guys are on the bubble now and just need to win some games. If we win our next 2 regular season games, we should be a #2 or #3 seed. I hope we get another shot at BYU in the MWC tournament.

Thanks to this thread and an article in Saturday's paper about "The Show", I tuned in and watched the game.  Fredette is evil.  That deep three he pops out of nowhere and rarely misses is just a dagger.  SDSt was so preoccupied with Jimmer, they left the rest of the BYU squad wide open outside and unfortunately for the home side, they weren't missing.  I don't know Tom, I think I'd hope to avoid BYU from here on out if I were you.  They look like a bad matchup for your boys.  It happens.

You did have a great atmosphere, aside from a few bad apples throwing crap on the court at the end.  Two questions for ya.  1, are you the banana, the elf or the gecko?  And 2, the bicycle helmets,  :tom:.

AJ, I'm a hockey fan btw.  Been a Caps fan since their inaugural season.

I want another shot at them at the MWC tournament next month. The atmosphere was unbelievable! One knucklehead threw a water bottle on the court at the end of the game. No, im not the banana, elf or gecko. The original banana is now working over in Amsterdam. Bicycle helmets is to make fun of the mormons. They wear white collard shirts with ties and name tags. They ride around on bikes and have to wear helmets. Pretty hilarious!

My Aztecs got back on track last night by beating the sh!t out of Wyoming. I was a little worried we might have a little let down after the loss last Saturday, plus we always struggle up at Wyoming. For anyone who doesn't know, Wyoming plays at the highest altitude here in the States. 7,200 feet above sea level, players get tired very quickly. Hopefully we will take care of business Saturday on senior night and beat Colorado State and go into the MWC tournament at 29-2. Btw, we still have the best record in basketball.

Win in the regular season finale against MSU at home would be huge, a loss and I feel they will need to win atleast 2 in the Big 10 turney. Here's to hope, but it has been a nice turnaround after losing I think it was 7 straight at one point in the season. I just hope they look at how well we've played against top teams (syracuse, osu and kansas) in games we didnt win

Well James, you got your wish. Nice win over MSU. Great night in San Diego! Beat CSU and are co-champs with BYU. Best record in college basketball at 29-2. Should move up 2 to 3 spots in the new polls on Monday. If we run the table and win the MWC tournament and get some help, we could still get a #1 seed. Should get no worse than a #2 seed. Can't wait to hit Vegas on Wednesday for the tournament. Disappointed Fulham isn't playing this weekend, would have loved to have bet on them like I did last year. Go Aztecs!!!

Great win yesterday, first sweep on them since 96-97 and now the 4 seed and the 1st round bye in the big ten tournament things are looking up for us. MSU on the other hand may be one there way to the NIT if they dont win atleast 1 if not 2 in the tourny. Nice work on the regular season and the MWC tourny  just gota lot easier fro you with that honor code dismissal at BYU. But soon it will be time to see how you play with your dancing shoes on.

I also give this a huge  :tom:!

Man was I wrong about Michigan today James. Michigan is kicking Tennessee by 30 points with a minute left. Bye, bye Bruce Pearl.

It was a thing of beauty, nervous about Duke though especially after that Fab 5 documentary. First team in NCAA history not to make a free throw 0 for 1.
It would have been nice to see Oakland beat Texas, that Benson kid is a joy to watch.

Michigan didn't make a free-throw with all the points they scored? If so, WOW! Yeah, you guys will lose to Duke, sorry. I was hoping Oakland would beat Texas too. Oakland played well.

Disappointing finish but an overall success of a yr, it's been great to see UofM basketball back in relevancy.Honestly we over achieved a bit this yr. Next year is looking like a strong as have dont have a single sr. and a couple of real nice recruits on the way. Big Ten should be strong as well

Would have preferred your UofM team (James) winning, but now my Arizona Wildcats will take a shot at Duke. The Honda Center is 10 miles from my house and really wanted to go, but hard to justify $300 for the nose bleed section (those tix are gone as of this morning, the cheapest seat is $425 on stubhub) when I can't even get there until the end of the 4:15 pm SDSU-UConn game. Pulling for Tom's team to win, and stay to cheer us on (which will happen for sure w/an Aztec victory). Regional Final tix start at half the price (they can't charge for the doubleheader) and an all-west final of UofA-SDSU will see the price sky-rocket, but there will be plenty of seats if one or both of those fail to advance.

Thought someone should post the bracket

SoCal I am suddenly a Wildcat fan since they are playing Duke.  Also hope SDSU and BYU have good results on Thursday.

Tom, not going on Thurs., you driving up? I like your teams' chances and even though they didn't play their best in Tucson, I think they'll actually relax and raise their game v UConn. Arizona has exceeded expectations (our next recruiting class is rated highly) and all Cats' fans agree we hired the right coach to get us back to where Lute had the program for decades, but not overly optimistic about beating Duke (won't rule it out however). The tix for the Regional Final are on sale at stubhub starting at $180 and plan on going if UofA advances. If both teams make it, a pregame beer in Anaheim might be the call since I'm pretty sure beer will NOT be sold at the arena (NCAA rules).

Congrats to all of you who still have teams playing.  I was pretty bummed by A&M's opening performance until I saw what FSU did to Notre Dame.  The Jayhawks would seem to have the easiest path to the Final Four now, but with the defense FSU is playing, the Noles may pull the upset.  Hopefully for SDSU, another week off will help cool UConn.

It was a great game James! Sucks we lost but we had a great season that I will never forget. We hurt ourselves by not hitting our free-throws.  :tom:  And those two T's they called on us were total bullsh!t! Kemba is a f#cking flopper. I thought I was watching a soccer game.  :tom:  We had the lead and momentum when both of them were called and that changed everything. Great season Aztecs! I am proud of you!  :wine:

Tom, that one T especially was a joke. Your team showed a lot of heart and if Leonard hits that 3 w/2 minutes to go to put you up who knows. UConn went got away w/a bad travel, missed a shot, and in the mad scramble the ball ended up in Lamb's hand for a wide open dagger to put them up 4 (basically a 6 pt swing). Great season and great effort. Props for all the Aztec fans that stayed and cheered Arizona on.

My Cats....THRASHED DUKE  :clap_hands:   D Will put on a show w/25 in the first half, and the whole team stepped up in the second and put one on the Blue Devils. Kept waiting for Duke to make a run and we just kept extending the lead. Another tough opponent in UConn next, so no time to celebrate.

Your Kats kicked some serious ass! Good luck to you guys tomorrow. I hope you guys win and make it to the Final 4. All the Wildcat fans where cheering for the Aztecs yesterday. That was great to see and hear. I was cheering for the Kats as well. If you guys play like you did yesterday, you will beat Uconn easy. Leonard shooting a 3 when we were down by 1 point with 2 minutes ledt was stupid! We were in the double bonus and he should have been driving to the hoop. Got to hit your free-throws. We were 100% from the line the previous game and under 50% for yesterday's game.  :tom: Again those 2 T's were complete bullsh!t and changed the momentum both times. We had the lead both times as well. They did show a lot of heart after coming back from 9 down at the half and taking a four point lead then going back down by ten and then taking the lead again. Great season!

Well, we are down to 8. 11 Big East have become one & no Big 10 to be found. Now that SD St is out how bout we root for Butler or VCU?

Since the SEC has two teams in it does it make them the best league?

You have three traditional powers, Ky, Kansas & Carolina, two second tier in Az & Conn and two upstarts. Not sure where Florida fits in the long view.

Truly gutted when Arizona's last shot (that looked good from where we were sitting) was just barely long. I know it's the worst feeling (or better yet, emotionally drained) I've had leaving a building, but extremely proud of the effort the team gave, and glad to have been there.

UConn-Kentucky and Butler-VCU could go either way, will be heading to Vegas for it.

UConn all the way. That Kemba Walker is special.

It takes an English betting man to call it.
