Any one follow and or watch Rugby?
It is very confusing with the Premiership the Union and the League.
All the different cups? Don't understand the difference?  :032: :032: :032:
There seems to be several clubs around London.
I do like watching but don't really know the rules well enough.
Just curious. FSP shows a good deal of it.
"You don't want to be trapped inside with me sunshine. Inside, I'm somebody nobody wants to **** with do you understand?

Tonywa

Absolutely loath Rugby Union which is one of the dullest games ever invented.  Love Rugby League which is exciting, fast and physical.

No.

Bum squeak sport played by abused posh boys at boarding schools, except in Wales where everybody plays rugby when they are not playing with their sheep.

Although now that I live in Harlem, New York, I feel like a New Zealander. Memo to me: Need to pick up an All Blacks shirt.
If you wake up in the morning and nothing hurts, you are most likely dead

VB

Played Union, League and American Football.
My School was a Rugby School, so we had to play it, It Was a bit like Python's 'The Meaning of Life'. 6 formers vs the 1st year. Then played League when I was a trainee Tankie (army jargon) but my favorite game to play (apart from 'soccer') was American Football, 5 years for the Fulham Cardinals. all tough and tactical in there own ways. Loved them all

Rosalyn Park was my local Union team.
I also saw Fulham RL play Australia at Craven Cottage
FULHAMISH: The more things change, The more they stay the same

colossus

I follow the Saracens and the Scarlets. However, i can't stand league.

On another note, i don't understand why a lot of people feel the need to choose between rugby and football, both great sports.

Scarlets through and through (Now that Llanelli are regionised)

Also a Perpignan and Leicester draw has made me not only happy in terms of the Heineken Cup but richer!

Rambling_Syd_Rumpo

As I was born and bred in St Helens,I'm a massive fan of St Helens Rugby League Football Club,it's not like I had much choice in the matter!
I played league and union I was much better playing prop in rugby union than in league and I played union for Lancashire school boys -much better to play than watch, watching union sends me to sleep. But watching League is fantastic, pace power and violence all in one game!

mrska

I hate all forms of Rugby.. but keep an eye out for Harlequins results..

On my recent trip home, I went to watch my mate's son play for Winchester Rugby club 2nds. It was equivalent of a sunday league division 4 football match., ie, Occasionally, they actually look like they know what they are doing. Winchester firsts were quite impressive though. The beer afterwards was the best bit.

The beer after the match is always great in any sport!

Was born in Putney so watched Rosslyn Park a few times. I lived in Twickenham for a number of years and watched the Quins occasionally too. But never enough to look out for their results, or see them on a regular basis.

I prefer union to league, but did see Fulham a few times (the match v. Wigan stands out in particular).

Basically I can watch anything that involves a ball, be it round, oval, large or small. I am particularly fond of Aussie Rules.

It has to be said that you can't beat the atmosphere at a football match though. I have been to a few England internationals at Twickenham and it was sooooo quiet...

The Equalizer

"We won't look back on this season with regret, but with pride. Because we won what many teams fail to win in a lifetime – an unprecedented degree of respect and support that saw British football fans unite and cheer on Fulham with heart." Mohammed Al Fayed, May 2010

Okay perfect..thanks!
What is the difference in Union and League? Are there different rules?
And is the Premiership League or Union.
Sorry for the questions but so damn confusing.  :tom: :tom: :dft008: :dft008:

Union is slow and has laws that are confusing. League is quicker and simpler to understand.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Rugby League which is played predominantly, although not exclusively, in the North of England has thirteen players as opposed to Rugby Union which is played all over Britain, has fifteen players. This means in essence that League is a faster, running game with another difference being that League does not have line-outs (throw-ins) which is an important part of the Union game.  There are other subtleties as well but don't let's complicate matters.
Rugby League is a game played predominantly by working class men whereas Union, as Finnster so eloquently puts it, is played predominantly by bum sniffing Hooray Henry's.
In Australia my Rugby League team is St George (come on who else would you expect an ex-pat to support?) and in England I follow England in the six nations rugby union tournament. I also look out for Rosslyn Park but I am hardly going to put my head in a noose if they lose.
What we do for others will live on. What we do for ourselves will die with us

In the Enclosure

Played Union around Twickenham (which is best for playing not watching) but loved watching Fulham Rugby League at the Cottage. Could get best seats in the Stevenage road stand for half the price of the football and the football team was going through a bad patch so it helped to keep the spirits up when we were winning at something !

Vinnieffc

Love rugby union, and up until last season went to all Blackheath's (National League 1) home games as I spent every weekend in SE London whilst the Missus was her mothers carer. May have to switch allegences to Rosslyn Park now (when The Whites are away obviously)  :wine:
