Clarke knows he has no ideas rather than hoof it dive, cajole, win by percentages. Its ugly, which Arsenal won the title with the corrupt officials helping them cheat, but Scotland did not have that back up.

Hopefully the next manager will consider players who have been ignored and rather play football that is passionate and attacking, rather than cynical and frustrating.

Don't think he was ever really that bothered. Poor side and he is not really Scottish anyway. The miracle of 2018 when he played on one leg to help get us back up, climaxing with THAT goal, was always going to be costly in the long run. It is the measure of the man he is still going strong. International football, which is pretty pointless now at the best of times, would not have helped him or the club. Would have surely been a member of the exclusive 400+ club but for the injury. Who knows? He still could make it!

For what its worth, I would have picked TC for Scotland over the years at least as a squad player.

Using him may have been plan B or C but considering they only have a poor plan A he may have been more useful for them than some of the headless chickens picked.

When he heard the news Nick Bateman has arranged an open top bus and a street party with Flags and bunting to celebrate the occasion. I was listening to some of the commentators last week mention what Scotland lost with Gilmour out. According to them nobody else in the squad had his creative ability from midfield. Admittedly I was a bit confused because they basically described TC. Like you mentioned he would have seemingly been a good plan B or C.

Maybve the hope for TC is that he can become part of Scotland's management team and eventually their manager? He has plenty of experience at the top playing levels short of International, and that could be a good thing if Scotland are to change their style?

I must say Steve Clarke goes up in my estimation. He could have accepted the 4 year extension the unambitious Scottish FA and just kept Scotland mediocre as he has done and pocketed 4 years of lucrative national manager's salary. Instead he did the decent thing.

One hopes his replacement will look around for new players and include them in his European campaign.
