After so much about Ream etc why can't we praise one of our current players who played 90 minutes for Marroco last night. It was on too late for me to assess his performance but if anyone did see the match can we have a report on his performance. BBC doesn't say much about Marroco.

Morocco were the better team and should have won.
As for Diop I thought he had a decent game overall.
Some may feel he lost his marker for Brazils equaliser, but all in all he played well as did the major of his team mates.
The tempo slowed down towards the back end of the second half as neither team wanted to
lose.
Nevertheless good chances were still created.
Brazil on the day looked a shadow of past tournaments back in the 50s/ 60s/70s & 80s.
But that is the cycle of football.
I can remember the inside forward trio of Didi, Vava and Pele. and the winger Garrincha in the late 50s early 60s
The 70s team was astonishing with Rivelino, Jairzenio, Djama Santos, Tostao and of course Pele. not forgetting Socrettes of the 80s. The list goes on.
But credit to Morroco for making Brazil
look second best.

First half he was one of the best defenders on the pitch.
Second half was one of the worst.

Later in the game he looked uncomfortable on the ball a few times and even had one of those old school Diop/senderos style brain lapses with a super lazy pass back to his keeper than nearly got stolen by the brazilian forward and cuased his GK to have a bit of a painful collision. Generally a good defender but his distribution and ball skills remains the main issue, quite a few hoofed balls from the back, very few, if any, that hit their target

A mixed bag all in all but still Morocco only conceded 1 against a good team.

Fair enough, I'm a big Issa fan generally these days but there was more than just the sloppy back pass imo, first half he was great but second half, in the live chats there were several of us commenting at different points about squeeky moments from him and looking a bit uncomfortable.

All in all you'd take only conceding one to Brazil though, albeit it did come from the right side of defense was a well taken goal

Only seen highlights from the game but for me the right back was at fault for the goal allowing Vinicious Jr to cut back inside for the shot.

I don't think anyone could be at fault
for the brilliance of Vinicius in that moment.

Seems a shame that we always have to fault a player instead of complementing a great skilful player.

diop did really well, unfortunately he does usually have an error in him and it nearly cost his team, but in the end it didn't. other players with much greater reputations made way more errors and the two vaunted Brazuilian centre backs got caught with their trousers down for the first goal (it was a brilliant goal IMO but for such great defenders they should have read the situation better), and the Brazilian keeper for the goal was very much in the wrong place.... Diop played well no complaints.

It's not like anyones piled on Diop here? Personally thought I prefaced any critique of the performance that it was a bit of a 50/50 performance but that generally I'm a fan of Issa. It's ok when someone asks how he did to say that he had some dodgy moments because, having watched the full game live, he did ...and most of it the stuff where he struggled a bit wasn't down to someone else being brilliant, second half was a bit nervy and loose from him on the ball was all🤷🏻

Thought on balance it was an ok performance that started better than it ended but credit for only conceding one against a good side.

Goodness me Jayffc I didn't specify Diop someone also said it was the full backs fault, my point was clear about perhaps giving credit to vini JR for his skill rather than blaming defenders.

I won't critisize any of our players who are representing their countries in the World Cup just proud that we have seven of such quality that they can do so. Just hoping in the next world cup we have a player representing England.
