Here in Cincinnati 17 of the last 18 days have been above 32c. We've even pushed past 38c once.  It has been absolutely brutal. My friend just moved back to England from the states and was making jokes about escaping the heat here.  Maybe it is his fault!

Well its 1:10 am here in blighty  (stamford brook) and its pissing down the temp is a brisk 19c and i said brook not the other pile of doings.

we're having like our 318th consecutive day and one of a total of 3,845 days this year where the temperature will hit triple figures.

Okay, that's a slight exaggeration, but 2009 was San Antonio's 3rd or 4th hottest summer in history, and we've already clinched the #1 spot for 2011 -- with still about 30 more days of triple digit possible.

There's nothing quite like driving home at 2300 after an evening out when it's still in the high 90s two plus hours after sundown.

On npr the other day, a guest  who wrote a book about the sun was talking. Probably worst case scenario but scientists  say if certain things happen in order x,y,z ( I can't remember the details) we are likely to have the hottest temps. on record for a few years. However,,the other scenario was z,y,x and global warming could be reversed for a decade or two.
Personally, wouldn't mind the latter. Opportunity to ski more often :57:
I don't know how you deal with temperatures in Texas. Boston has been in the 90s, horrible. A few weeks now and it cools down.

Normally, we switch to Pinot Grigio when the temps get in triple figures and try to do most of our running around first thing in the morning, but this year and 2009 are bizarre. We've been getting summer every day since late April and there's not a lot of respite. The lack of rain augments the problem. As long as the AC works, we're okay. I know that while it's not as long-lasting or as extreme where you are, you're not as used to it as we are, so y'all are going to be more devastated by it.

What not a lot of folks know is that the weather condition that kills the most people in the US -- by far -- is heat. So while the heat is hitting you in New England, keep an eye on any neighbors you have that may be elderly or disabled.
