Barclays Manager of the Month
Friday 5th March 2010

Roy Hodgson have been rewarded for an unbeaten run in the Barclays Premier League by being named Barclays Manager of the Month for February 2010.

The decision was made by the Barclays Awards Panel, which includes representatives from football's governing bodies, the media and fans.

Hodgson's Team ended the month with three wins and two draws from their five games. Home wins against Portsmouth, Burnley and Birmingham City coupled with draws away to Bolton and Sunderland moved Fulham up to ninth in the Barclays Premier League.

This is the fourth time that Roy Hodgson has won the Barclays Manager of the Month award, and the second time this season.

Fulham's results during the month of February are all the more impressive for the fact that Hodgson's Team have campaigned successfully across three fronts.

As well as a successful run of results in the Barclays Premier League, Fulham earned a place in the last 16 of the UEFA Europa League thanks to a 3-2 aggregate win over Shakhtar Donetsk and reached the Quarter Final of the FA Cup following a 4-0 win over Notts County on Valentine's Day.

Hodgson gave his reaction to being named the Barclays Manager of the Month on Friday afternoon at Fulham's Training Ground.

"I'm absolutely delighted," said Hodgson. "I think it's a great achievement to win a Manager of the Month award twice in one season.

"I realise it's not me personally that's being rewarded  - it's the Team. The Team has done so well. They did well in October when I received the award and now the Team has done, if anything, even better in the month of February and once again I receive the award.

"I receive the award, absolutely in all modesty, not only on behalf of the Team, but also the Coaching Staff, Mike Kelly and Ray Lewington. All three of us work closely together to prepare the Team in the best way possible and I think we should see this award as recognition of the Team effort.

"I also think that Mark [Schwarzer], as the first Fulham player to receive the Player of the Month award since Louis Saha, is a fantastic effort. I'm delighted for him and as a Football Club we'll have to say that some time in the distant future people will look back at February 2010 and say, 'in February 2010 Fulham was a good football Team and Fulham FC was a big Football Club.' It's nice to be a part of that."

Hodgson will lead his Team into battle against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday as the Whites look to earn a place in the Semi-Finals of the FA Cup.

Barclays Player of the Month
Friday 5th March 2010

Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has been named the Barclays Player of the Month for February 2010.

Schwarzer played an integral role in securing an unbeaten month for Fulham, recording 4 clean sheets in 5 Barclays Premier League league games.

Aside from his heroics in the League, Schwarzer's performance in cauldron that was the Donbass Arena in the Ukraine deserves special mention.

Under a torrent of pressure against Shakhtar Donetsk, Schwarzer pulled off several world class saves to help Fulham defeat last year's UEFA Cup winners.

Schwarzer is the first Fulham player to receive the award since Louis Saha in August 2001. Speaking at Fulham's Motspur Park Training Ground on Friday afternoon Schwarzer was clearly delighted to have won the Barclays Player of the Month Award.

"I'm still a little bit shocked to have won the award," said Schwarzer. "I think it's been a tremendous achievement from everybody at the Club over the last five to six weeks.

"No one could have imagined it would have gone so well over that period of time and I think any number of players in the Team could have won the award.

"I feel very honoured and I've just found out I'm the first Australian to win it. I'm glad to accept an award on behalf of the other players who have contributed towards my performances week-in, week-out.

"I think we've defended very well and we've gone back to how we defended consistently well last season. In February we were outstanding all over the field from front to back and that's what has been the key for Fulham Football Club. We've been able to work our way up the table and through various competitions. Overall so far it's been fantastic."

Great and well deserved. ;D

No WN and will not clarify with the obvious. :P

But we all know what will happen. :'(
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Woy has won this award 4 times now (twice with Blackburn and twice with us).

He's a long way off Sir Rudolf but here is how he ranks in the winners table. Wonder how many he would have if he had been managing in this league as long as the others:

1st.   Alex Ferguson*   24

2nd   Arsène Wenger*   10

3rd   Martin O'Neill*   6
        Bobby Robson
        Harry Redknapp*
        David Moyes*

7th   Rafael Benítez*   5
        Kevin Keegan

9th   Sam Allardyce*   4
        Roy Hodgson*
        Joe Kinnear
        Gordon Strachan

13th   Alan Curbishley   3
        Gérard Houllier[nb 2]
        José Mourinho

This wasn't widely reported but Woy was quoted as saying:

" Sams flowing football and slick passing has always inspired me. Joe's interpersonal skills and Gordons mellow temperament have made me the manager I am today"

I would have sort of half way expected Roy to win. It was a bugger of a month and we got through it unbeaten in THREE competitions.

Having said that, I'm delightly shocked to see Tha Big Aussie win. After the month that Rooney had, I didn't think anyone else had a chance.
