CB in january?

Seems the consensus is that we need a new CB but the only name ive really heard is Douglas.

Any one else have any ideas who they would like it to be?
I personally cant think of anyone we could get in england and i dont watch other leagues.

Do we need it in january, hold off till summer or maybe whether its not needed to sign a new CB and rather more important to get hangeland signed on?
Hes been so important for us id hesitant to disregard his value because of an average start to the campaign. First and foremost id like him tied up until the end of his effective career, and try get someone in the summer to partner him, with hughes/senderos as cover.

I think it hinges on whether or not Hangeland signs a new contract.

If the club think he wont, the most likely thing to happen will be for him to be shipped out and a replacement brought in.

yeah id agree thats the clubs standpoint. whats your wish though? basically i want to see if people think Hangelands ship has sailed or if people are keeping the faith. (killing time before the derby starts :) )

Personally, I believe we need someone familiar with Jol's style. Our CBs are more exposed because in it IMO. WE need someone who has dealt with that and succeeded.

Having said that, I believe we need work on defensive positioning and transitioning back to defense when we've surrendered the ball. If we'd not had so many poor fouls in and around the box, Reading would've lost without too much fight.

If Hangers is intent on leaving, then we should get to work finding a solid replacement and someone like I mentioned above. If he stays, he needs to work his game to accommodate Jol's style.

I don't think we can bring in a CB from abroad and expect him to replace Hangeland straight away. CB's need at least 6 months to be eased in to the premier league. It would be too much to expect Douglas to do a job straight away. Do you remember how rubbish vidic was when he first turned up?

Why sell Senderos who is yet to do anything wrong?

Last season he was bizarrely blamed by a large section of the support everytime Hangeland made a mistake. Now it is dawning on those people that Hangeland might just be the reason for the mistakes.
