With Kacaniklic , Taarabt & Frei struggling for fitnees he has a good chance of starting the game

Chutney

Not necessarily a bad thing, he looks like a really good prospect! if we can get the others fit I think he should be loaned out to a championship team to get some experience under his belt. If he can work on his end product like kacaniklic did we'd have two quality young wingers at the club. Our youth development is finally starting to show!

With players like Mesca, the unpredictability and unknown nature of him can make it difficult to counter as PdC won't know the extents of his strengths and weaknesses as he would Ashkan Dejagah or Bryan Ruiz.

To be honest I'm not sure Di Canio is the type to do much research.
Scott Parker is the greatest living Englishman.

EJL

It could be 'Frei v Norwich Mk 2' if he does start. As Frankie says, unpredictability plays a huge factor with young players.

I feel we should field our strongest side, regardless of fitness. If they aren't performing, bring on the youth. They will be fully up for it, and the other side would of had a half played already.

God The Mechanic

Mesca didn't do a whole lot when he started against Parma, so it may be a bit of a stretch to start him in the first competitive game of the season.

I would love to see this, but I think we're more likely to see Duff on the left if those other options are not fit.  Jol seems to like to start things off with a familiar roster and then experiment as things go along.

If Mesca starts a league match under Jol before March, I'll be absolutely stunned.

I think the kid is great, and I think he's the future. I also think that we're going to be in a relegation fight all season, and no manager will go with youth under those circumstances -- well, unless he manages Aston Villa. Mesca will get a League Cup appearance, and I'd love to see him get some minutes off the bench, but starting? This season? I just can't see it.

I never eat hats, unless they have been prepared nicely and are accompanied by a good wine.

I agree with all your logic.  I just wanted to see if you'd be so stunned that you'd become HatlessDon.  (I could contribute the wine, but have no opinions on the preparation.  Maybe Werner Herzog does.)
