Why bent is such an important signing for us...

Avb often played defoe as the lone striker last season for spurs, with bale behind him. Bent will have the same affect at fulham. What defoe did was force the defences to drop deep, allowing more space for bale - hence his goal tally. With the players we have at fulham - berba, adel, ruiz, a similar affect through bent could be lethal, which is why he is such a big signing. Currently teams are able to comfortably press us, thus limiting the affect they have been able to have. Just need a good cm now!

Very valid point.... He is also a goalscorer which cannot be said for many premier league strikers

Humbled

Agreed mate....
As I have said in several other threads he brings pace for the counter and the ability to stretch the defence making the pitch appear bigger allowing more space for the creative players. Great signing!!

Looking forward to seeing Bent prove his point. I wonder if he will get more touches, cover more space, chase down the opposition defences, harass the opposition keeper and be more of a threat at corners than the current 'outlet'. Great footballer and all that but I see he was getting a six on the motm thread for yesterdays performance ............. blimey.

I suppose he won the corner but even Jol was yelling in his direction yesterday and I just wonder had it not been for the injuries and the need to haul Boateng off would he have put Bent on for Berba for the last fifteen minutes?

cue stats, facts and figures and proving me worthless .............

Berba was awful yesterday... But he is a fantastic player, and will probably be helped by Bent taking some of the pressure off his shoulders...

Brown@FFC

Berba is not a loan striker. Bent is, and I think we will see Berbatov play much better without the weight of being the only goal scorer off his shoulders.

ScalleysDad

Berba and Bent on the pitch together .............. at the expense of who? I suppose Ruiz will get his place back so we are looking at two from yesterday dropping out. At last a selection dilemma.

JackyFulham90

He will make a big difference to us we have some very talented players this year

JackyFulham90

Taarabt will feature heavily Jol rates him, Ruiz or Dejagah on the right is how I think it will be, Kaca , Ruiz or Dejagah , Kasami & Rodallega on the bench

Lighthouse

Whast it does mean is we can have a bench with a few quality players on it. Hope Bent is the player to help? It is certainly the position we needed to fill badly.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

St Eve

It's a great problem. The team will be selected based upon the opposition and whether we are away or at home. There will be injuries and suspensions. At last we have a good squad.

Agreed
We looked much more dangerous last year with Rodellega playing - but he sadly is not a clinic finisher
Bent is an upgrade and hopefully this will be the end of the Berba / Ruiz front 2 .

With Jol wanting to be more attacking, I can see it being Sidwell or Boateng losing their spot.
