i said over two years ago he was the man but was told onvarious MBs that I knew nothing
i have been sayiong poyet ever since with much the same reaction.

whether it works out for gus or not is a matter for the future but at least he is having a go and it is the art of the positive, not about damage limitation.

jol is useless , poyet in the long run is going to be a thoroughbred.

alexbishop

Rumour was he was being lined up to replace Jol but the Swansea result on the last day of the season saved his job and the board decided to persist with Jol and drop interest in Poyet. DAMN YOU SWANSEA

Teams winning a few matches after changing manager is hardly new. Teams can't be sure what to expect to come up against when a team's ethos has completely changed. Only pass judgement on Poyet's credentials as a Prem manager when he's had a good half a season, I say.
There's only one Emma's burger stand.

Pluto

I agree that it's too early to judge Poyet yet, but the signs are looking good so far.

Jol might not be the answer, but I don't think Poyet is either ...

sunderland already look better, regardless of results, revitalised and better organised...... of course poyet was the most likely correct answer. he is ambitious, young, shown what he can do on limited means.... intelligent (although i know many fulham fans don't like an articulate intelligent manager)

poyet is going to be the second worst mistake of the season after keeping the current useless incumbent for far too long.

The Bronsons

After sacking the clown they had in charge Sunderland were odds-on to improve no matter who they got in. On that principle, yes, we should have got Poyet. But it's not too late to sack our clown.

sumofallparts

Would anyone here really stick with Jol if we were offered Poyet?
All academic now though. I can see a Sunderland revival, they are only a handful of points behind us too.
More bugger.

My cat could have made Sunderland look more organised ... doesn't mean he would do a job at Fulham though.

actually poyet is avery good manager with an excellent track record, has a positive attitude and is intelligent and articualte.
He would have been ideal.

Then why were so many at Brighton (Fans and Club) so very happy to see the back of him?

#what a strange question. under poyet brighton massively revived their flagging fortunes. unfortunately it went wrong for themin the play offs, it happens. and then in a foolish moment, depending on how you heard it reported, poyet said he felt his future was elsewhere and the fans didn't like it.
some of them diodn't always likke the tacics which were pragmatic, rather like roy for us. the football wasn't always the most exciting or flamboyant but it was effective.

but make no mistake poyet turned the club round on very little resource.

i saw them a few times and they changed from the usual kick and rush shambles to a very effective, well organised and competitive team. it was a bad error to let him slip through our hands

Well, that's certainly your view. Mine is the opposite, I guess we will have to agree to disagree ...

Bassey the warrior

When he accused Evra of 'crying like a baby' I started to dislike him and ever since he's always been apologizing for Suarez. So I'm glad we didn't get him.

Thamesbank

Gawd no - the guy is a twit as well as lacking in talent, would actually prefer Sanshez to come back

jarv

Poyet is totally irrelevant to the argument now. Like him or not, he was never in the frame for Fulham and he manages anotehr club now. Move on.

yes that is so and accedemic too. I hope the new man when it happens is younger and ambitious and not one of the merry go round failed, so called experienced managers. that is not what we need although i have to admit i liked the idea of hodgson and hughes (although the nature of his walk out was a blow and made me hate him).

you're right but one last thought. Sunderland will do well and we are still languishing. it makes me so annoyed

jarv

we are all annoyed and very disappointed. Another sad day. These days are no longer Fulhamish, no longer funny. It is  a nightmare that a manager can inherit such a decent team and in such a short space of time, destroy it.
I think we all hope for an announcement, the sooner the better.
