When Jol was sacked ( he should have gone earlier) we all wondered who our new manager might be. No one had a clue. Two names were banded on this message board. Poyet and Pulis. Everyone including me said that we did not want either.
They both got new jobs and have kept their teams in the Premier. Should we have gone for one of them

Poyet had the potential but being former Chelsea was off putting and still a risk.

Neither would have saved us from the drop with this squad.
We squad doesn't have the depth of quality players for the PL.

There were loads of people on here saying days before Jol was sacked that he should be given more time. I remember being ripped on here for saying he should be getting the sack about a month before he actually did. Some people have such short memories.

In what way?  We have bigger names and players with better track records but that only gets you so far.  Hardly any of our players seem to have the heart for the fight, or the stamina or fitness to last the full 90.  No matter how "good" you are, if you either can't be arsed or just physically can't DO that good, then what's the point?

We also have less consistent players.  We had the likes of Berba and Ruiz who CAN make things happen, but that's no use when they aren't making things happen.  I'm not expecting consistently amazing, as we're no Chelsea or Liverpool etc, but we need more players that are just steady.  Players that get the job done, rather than players that CAN pull off something amazing.

Palace have that steadiness.  Maybe not the quality, but we've seen how you can drill a bunch of steady players into something way more than the sum of their parts under Sir Roy.
