Villa as assistant manager. Good luck with that, Tim.

His joining correlated with a downturn in performances from Rene's team if I recall correctly. That being said, some of the reports that were presumably leaked by Fulham after his departure was far from classy.

Everyone says he is a great coach just not a manager, I have nothing against the guy, some of our best performances under Rene, United away, Liverpool at home were with Wilkins input. I still maintain we would have stayed up if they had stuck with Rene.

Wish him well at villa, a good assistant and an experienced head, probably what Sherwood needs, and dare I say what Kit needs as well (not saying he needs Wilkins just an experienced head with him).

What I didnt like about Rene and Ray was the laughing in the dugout when we were losing and playing abysmal. It happened two or three times with them all being caught by the tv cameras. I never felt the magnitude of the job was ever taken seriously.

I like Ray, as a person he comes across well but if Villa collapse now I wont be surprised. Not sure the point of an assistant for Tim though, he seems too arrogant to let someone tell him whats best.

Good luck to him

Supporting Fulham isn't about winning, it's about belonging

I don't think it's fair to say he had that poor an influence and is no good as a result. Don't forget he also lasted quite some time under Mourinho at Chelsea and they didn't exactly do poorly did they.

I think the club in our last year in the premiership was the biggest joke in world football or close to it - Blackpool may have taken that aware. Noone would've done well then. That said looking back at our squad we had more than enough talent to stay up, which is quite infuriating.

I agree with the above sentiments. I am led to believe that Wilkins provided the club with training kit when the club was at a particularly low ebb. If true he has my respect and gratitude.

He joined us twice and was not a success on either occasion.

Always thought he was a yes man tbh. He offered support and a sounding board. Imo our performances got worse as more were brought on board to "assist" René.
I think the players lose focus on who they need to impress to get in the team.
Siblings, let us not be down on it.
One total catastrophe like this...is just the beginning !
