The cold hard truth

The fact that TK is however many miles away is irrelevant given the the business world is now switched on to zoom, teams etc etc. He doesn't have to be in MP to speak to the recruitment team. And speaking of the recruitment team, how is the Talbots are getting away without criticism? And our scouting network? They are the eyes and ears over here.

This is true, but it's just not as effective as a football man, say Glen Hoddle As our new DOF, watching a game from the stand be it, first team U23 U18 etc, then bringing all the coaches into a room and discussing the performance and what is needed to improve.  It's of course possible to do this via zoom and fulhamtv just no where near as effective.  If you want the best for the club your DOF needs to be in and around the football club.

Regarding an earlier comment about bringing in 3 loans, it all depends on who the loans are and the terms.  If they are player s on loan like Harrison Reed who is then made perm, surely that is good.  If they are players like Knockaert the opposite.  I am arguing that a few loans, say up to 3, will allow you to bring in players better than you can afford to purchase, or young players that you can persuade to stay to improve the team.  I agree 7 loans is just creating too much change.

A fully focussed, knowledgable DOF who can help Parker develop and help give him what he needs, how can that be a disaster ?

Football is a team game, Parker often talks about his team of coaches, they all have to be able to work together.  Kline was the opposite, a man who had no qualifications wanting to have a huge influence.   Surely it's common sense to have the football run by people at the top of the game who are respected and can work in a team environment.

I was in management for many years and there is always likely to be bad eggs around, the secrete is to remove them ASAP and maintain team harmony whilst recruiting the best people available.

I don't know any of this for a fact, but TK does seem to keep a tight grip over transfers and recruitment. A few years ago he was pushing very hard for his all-time world beating stats model to have some live real-world test cases, presumably so he could then sell the model on down the line.

Whether he is still hell bent on that model or not I don't know, but it's been very much a stats only first approach for a few years so maybe Talbot doesn't have the remit to be front foot about going out and scouting talent.

^^ Mostly speculative.

TK is in charge of that part of the operation too and no, zoom etc, are not substitutes for people meeting up in the longer term.  The only reason people may be using long distance group communication technology is because the law is preventing them from doing otherwise.

Like most I simply don't know how exactly the recruitment works now (I was briefly an FFC scout 15 years back under John Murtough -whatever became of him...). But I think there needs to be a bit of balance. Yes there were mistakes made in 2018 for which we are still paying. And any conversation with a Wolves fan would have informed them why they were letting Cav go. On the other hand, given how awful our promotion winning side was & how late the play-off was , to bring in Areola, Andersen, Tosin, Aina, Robinson, Tete, Lemina and Lookman deserves great praise. And the strategy of loan to buy in many of these cases also makes sense.

But I agree with many posters, now is the time to build like Newcastle & Wolves did. We also have some very exciting young players that, given a 46 League _ cup games next year, they should get first team chances

Building the Squad mostly depends on the available money, with enough money the below is easily possible and the team below with Parker should win the Championship. With FFP, the below squad is not possible, but assuming TK planned for yo-yoing we could go close.

We have already signed Rodak; Tete, Hector, Tosin, Kongolo, Robinson; Reed, Anguissa, Seri, Stefjo, Cairney, Onamah; Knaockaert, Reid, Kamara, Mitro, Cav, Kebano and others for next season, plus also have options for Betts, Aina, Christie, Lemina and Maja. With that squad in place, I am sure players like Dickie, Lookman, and Wallace would  sign if offered.

So after all the loan players have left (which they will) we are left with 3 players on our books who are worthy of a promotion winning team next season assuming we can keep them.

Add in Mitro, Cairney and Reed and we are still mightily short of players good enough!

Not sure about only 3, have you included Harrison Reed in that number? I think we are more effective with him in that position in front of the defence. I believe we have two nuggets in Robinson and Tete who are coming on and with more game time will be even better, especially Tete. It is up front we are sadly lacking, Cav is not the answer and often his running comes to nothing, having looked at the full 90 from the Chelsea game Frank was more trouble than he is worth with some woeful passing which put us under an enormous amount of pressure and then you take his inability to score a goal.
So while we need to clean out the stables we do have some good players which can help build the nucleus of a good side.
